I tried the honey ginger matcha (with soy milk), a pretty decent drink for fall. The ginger added an extra touch of spice to the matcha, yet it wasn't overwhelming. The only flaw was that my first cup of matcha had some powder chunks in it.

I'm not a coffee drinker so what sells me is unique drinks, worthwhile to visit. We tried the pistachio white chocolate mocha and rosey matcha. I loved that they gave me the option to add whipped cream for the mocha to make it more aesthetic and complete. The mocha didn't have much notes of pistachio but it was fairly sweet and creamy. The rosey matcha had a more apparent flavor but otherwise felt fairly standard for a matcha. There's another major coffee shop in Lopez Island nearby, so either here or there would be good candidates for coffee or other drinks that are more innovative than the standard I wish they published prices for the seasonals since we were left to guess and wait for the total, in which case may be awkward to ask for a breakdown of the drink prices. For my visit, we paid $12.31 approx for 2 drinks

I have fond memories of visiting Holly B's as a kid--I mean, who can say no to fresh baked treats??…read more Craving a peaceful Sunday to myself I took a day trip to Lopez and had to stop by. I arrived a little before noon and there were several options to choose from... sweet pastries, cookies, bread and a couple savory baked treats as well. Slightly overwhelmed (and very hungry) I asked for a few suggestions. After hearing some of the staff favorites I went with a baguette, almond butterhorn pastry, and molasses cookie. (I normally try to eat plant-based but couldn't resist the nostalgia.) Off I went to the beach, after picking up some spinach artichoke dip and plump blueberries from Blossom Grocery. The baguette was delicious, definitely my favorite of the three! A delightful texture and flavor. It was perfection dunked straight into the spinach artichoke dip. Needless to say I inhaled half of the baguette in one sitting--the remainder was enjoyed as toasts over the next couple of days. Later on in the afternoon I went IN on the almond butterhorn. This pastry was recommended heated up, which I believe would be a good choice if you have the option. The helpful lady behind the counter offered to warm it for me, but I was planning on consuming it after a slightly more healthy snack aka baguette, dip, and blueberries. Anywho. I'm glad I tried the butterhorn, but I typically prefer less sweet options and would choose to try something different next time around. Since I was on a roll, I made quick work of the molasses cookie after dinner. The cookie was a generous size, plus it was both soft/chewy as well as flavorful. I would happily enjoy one or three of these again! Prices are pretty standard for island goods, and the shop itself is small so take your treats outside, that is if you can resist chowing down immediately. I am looking forward to visiting again soon, hopefully this summer with my family!

The market is large and offers just about everything a grocery store could carry, including both indoor and outdoor machines for refills on spring water (a must on the island, particularly if you make your own coffee). Most impressive is the staff in the meat and fish department. They men and women working there always seem willing to answer questions about stock and are even happy to offer advice about preparing the day's fresh seafood. We've also been pleased with the entire staff. They're available and can point you to the right aisle when you're in a rush. The store can get busy, and when only a couple of checkout lines are open there's sometimes a good wait, but remember this is island time.
