After looking Yelp, shocker I know!, I discovered that this little store had pastries. And it was open early! I got up and decided to walk over for a morning treat with my coffee. Very impressive little store full of tons of stuff! Groceries, pantry staples, a small produce section, some premade deli food and cookies. I was looking for the bakery items. A previous review mentioned delicious homemade pastries. Finally as I choose a cookie and a salad for later I see them. A small pedestal plate with pastries. And on the countertop behind the register tons of croissants! I said, there they are! The two ladies working were not impressed. I asked for the flavors and the lady said, there is a menu right there. Ugh, not fully awake I realized a line had formed behind me. This is the spot to go before getting in a ferry. The sign was not clearly visible and I felt overwhelmed with the decision so I quickly decided on a raspberry almond. This is clearly a place for locals. Everyone knows what they want and where it is. Not super friendly vibes, but oh well. Took photos of my purchases back in my gorgeous villa LOL, watch for my next review. Oh, I do love little markets in little communities, and this one just oozes local love. First of all, it's like 12 seconds away from the first dry ground you reach (or leave, depending on your direction) on the island, so it's a great spot to grab some groceries or food when you land. Or if you're headed out for the day, you can grab some supplies here for the boat ride. There are all the things you need--meats, produce, packaged goods, but a few unexpected tricks. I was here at an odd hour, but those sandwiches up front look amazing and it looks like it's a fair bit of their business. If you are headed out and need sustenance, they have you covered with really good looking sandwiches. I was also surprised by the massive Le Creuset display. Like, baffled. Look, I love the stuff. It's great stuff. Sturdy, quality-made cookware. But this huge display right at the entrance takes up plenty of real estate and I am so confused if they're selling that many crock pots, or why they have taken up so much of their real estate with every pot and pan the company makes. This store has everything! Too bad we only discovered it on our last day here- it was much closer to our rental than downtown. This is right next to the orcas island ferry. There were long lines on this Sunday morning as people were waiting to get on the early ferry. We got breakfast sandwiches from the heated cabinet and they have a small coffee shop. Fresh produce is available along with fresh seafood and meat. Service was slow but they opened up more lines. The cashier was very welcoming to customers but it the nicest to other coworkers. I would definitely come back, especially if you are staying on this side of the island! read more

The Orcas Village Store is the first store you see as you get off the ferry onto Orcas Island. It is one the best places to grab a few groceries, lunch, drinks, or anything else you could think of on the island. There are so many groceries options found in this little grocery store. They also have a wide variety of fresh, ready to eat, food options as well. There is also a nice variety of wines, beer, and liquor sold here. I noticed that there were a lot of food and drinks sold here that were made right on Orcas Island. My husband and I picked up several snacks, fresh sandwiches, and wine for the road. The store had very friendly and helpful employees. At the time we went, the store was busy, but the employees were doing their best to get the lines moving quickly and efficiently, while providing great customer service. There is not much parking to be found in this area of the island. There are a few spots at the ferry terminal next to the store, but other than that, parking is hard to find here. It is a great little store for any sort of snack or drinks you might need before you start exploring the island. read more

The cranberry sauce, lettuce, and turkey were all pretty evenly spread so that each bite was as good as the last. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality and variety of the pre-made sandwiches. I guess I got used to that stale bread, dry, flavorless sandwich you find at the chain supermarkets. The sandwich I chose had great flavor, good quality vegetables, fantastic bread, and an olive tapenade mayo that really made the sandwich work. This grocery is great. I thought it was going to be super expensive compared to the main land it was just a touch surcharge. Their ready to made food was delicious. I got the crab filled bagel. We stopped in to grab to go sandwiches before our sailing trip out of Deer Harbor since nowhere else seemed to be open at that hour. The deli is right next to the ferry terminal. Inside, they're also a market and have all kinds of things one might need. In terms of deli food, they had a variety of prepackaged sandwiches that were more exciting than a classic Kraft cheddar and Turkey. For example, I got one with ham, Brie, and apricot jam on it! My husband got a different sandwich, which he also enjoyed. They also had different sides and drinks you could buy to go with your sandwich. I just got a kombucha. This is a small unassuming grocery/deli. We were starving waiting for the ferry and decided to grab a bite. I got a Shrimp Louie salad. Sounds like the stuff from nightmares-a premade grocery store seafood salad huh? But it was one of the best darn salads I've ever encountered! Everything was super fresh and the salad was loaded with egg, black olives, green onions, shrimp, tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and thousand island (?) dressing. Ward from Northwest Classic Day Sailing told that this place has EXCELLENT sandwiches/salads to pick up and carry with us on our sailing excursion with him. This was absolutely true! The sandwiches were SOOOO good! They are reasonably priced at about $8, but if you want one specially made, you write up a ticket and they cost a bit more. The store provides paper plates and napkins to go along with you, which is nice! We were able to buy some ham and bagels for the children. We were even able to pick up Dramamine here, as we had forgotten it at home. This is definitely a place worth a stop when getting off the ferry. read more

My favorite store on Orcas. They carry everything from comet to caviar. If by chance you want something they don't carry, the owners will order for you. Best take away breakfast, scones, sandwiches, salads, pizza, and sweets. You can do your entire trips groceries here. Beautiful produce and meat department. Even fresh made waffle cone ice creams. Absolutely the best food you have ever had in your entire life!!!! I had Mary and Ron cater a party for me, and it was out of this world, amazing!! They provided all the drinks, dishes, wait staff and the most amazing food I have ever eaten!! The appetizers were perfectly prepared and plentiful. We started with Beef capriccio, smoked salmon, shrimp with a orange liqueur glaze, tempura, duck sliders, cauliflower soup, cookies, mousse, lamb riblets, ahi tuna, and more that I have forgotten. Great selection of red and white wines and friendly folks serving my guests. All the serving dishes, glasses, plates, napkins, silver were provided, and best thing ever....NO DIRTY DISHES!!!!! I came off looking great and had zero cleanup. Best catering service EVER!! They also brought their own tents and outdoor BBQ setup. No detail was missed!!! read more

Being an islander I am on the ferry a lot and always grab a breakfast burrito for morning ride, chicken Caesar sandwich for lunch and when running late at dinner time, turkey tetrazinni and bacon mushroom mac and cheese are the best. You can't go wrong with any of their in house prepared meals. The store is small and can't carry everything you could want, but the selection they do have is outstanding. Man, sorry but my experience wasn't super great. My boyfriend and I were just wanting to get a couple things before we hopped on the ferry. I wanted an espresso beverage and unfortunately the line was long. I decided last minute to just settle for drip. The drip I got was barely warm, too late to back out. It tastes good, just wish it was piping hot. I got the bacon, egg and cheese croissant out of the warm case and it was good. However, there was a mysterious creaminess to the cheese. I think they used cheese spread, American cheese or a combo of cheese and mayo BC it was strangely creamy. The bacon was thick, and plenty of it so that was a huge plus. I really really really wished I had gotten the espresso but just getting this sandwich and drip we made it just isn't time to board the ferry, any longer I probably would have been paged to my vehicle. read more

This is a great place to stop for a sandwich, either when you just get off the ferry or when you are waiting in line to board a ferry. The service is prompt and the sandwiches are good! I highly recommend the ham, brie and mango chutney. Also, be sure to ask them to grill your sandwich. You will choose your sandwich out of a self-serve deli case, but if you ask, they will then put it on a panini press for you so you can have a nice toasty and hot sandwich. Oh, this is a little grocery store, too, if you want to pick up some wine, cheese and crackers for an island picnic. Given how busy they usually are as they're right at the ferry terminal, I've always been served with a smile. This store has everything you could need from kitchen utensils to deli food and pastries and groceries. A great place to stop by before getting on the ferry and grabbing some food to go. It's a lot of stuff cramped into one little space and gets a lot of traffic close to ferry departure times. They source their goodies locally from the island and they're pretty good. It's not super cheap, the IGA is much cheaper but the quality of food is good and it's really the convenience of being able to pick something up as you wait for the ferry. Very poor customer service. My friends and I walked into the store to grab some cookie dough because one of my friends was feeling cookie doughless I waited patiently in line to talk to one of the checkout ladies and she seemed very nice to the customers in front of us. I walked up and said to the lady do you have cookie dough. And she replied with a very snotty know and continued to make snotty remarks regarding cookie dough. I proceeded to turn away and say thank you, but she stopped me and asked me, does any store sell cookie dough. This wouldn't have made me as mad as it did, except for we were just three young girls asking for cookie dough and the lady was very very very rude. read more

Prices were slightly high, probably based on location and lack of surrounding options, food seemed okay, but what was a bummer was no dairy free ice cream. Now... Orcas Village Store is a fantastic little market for all your needs on the island. Located just steps from the ferry landing, this market has everything from a little deli, espresso counter, meat department, dairy, produce, and dry goods. I generally use beef, organic eggs and milk prices to compare to other stores. Orcas Village Store prices were all in line with a regular supermarket or someplace like Trader Joe's, but the quality seemed better. The produce was exceptionally colorful and bright. Had we had a grill available for us to use, I probably would've bought a couple of rib-eye steaks here. This tiny market beats out the other big market on the island (Island Market), which you wouldn't expect, being so close to the tourist drop-off. Stop here first, before heading out to your island destination. read more
