Breakfast burrito

This store has everything! Too bad we only discovered it on our last day here- it was much closer to our rental than downtown. This is right next to the orcas island ferry. There were long lines on this Sunday morning as people were waiting to get on the early ferry. We got breakfast sandwiches from the heated cabinet and they have a small coffee shop. Fresh produce is available along with fresh seafood and meat. Service was slow but they opened up more lines. The cashier was very welcoming to customers but it the nicest to other coworkers. I would definitely come back, especially if you are staying on this side of the island!

The "deli".

Turkey and Cranberry Sandwich $7.39 - my wife and I each had a half of the sandwich and both of us liked it. The cranberry sauce, lettuce, and turkey were all pretty evenly spread so that each bite was as good as the last. As we were in the area for several hours waiting for the ferry, this seemed like the best option and we were happy with our choice.

This place is right as you get off the ferry, or are about to get on!

This is such a great stop to load up for a few days or a ferry ride! The grocery prices are actually quite reasonable and the deli food is fresh and delicious! The people working here are always so nice and helpful. Great wine/beer/liquor selection, great local food selection and lovely fresh in-store-made food to grab and takeaway! We'll come back here lots more!!

yes.

Do they still sell caviar?

Everything is also very nicely cleaned, prepped and refrigerated. But the best part of all is how deliciously amazing everything tasted! From the tomatoes, to the onions, to the lettuce and more, I couldn't believe how fresh and how everything really tasted like a vegetable! They also have a huge selection and a variety of butchered meats

Horse Drawn offers an impressive variety of seasonal vegetables as well as meats (frozen) and, when you get lucky, eggs. Everything they sell is absolutely first rate. Much to their credit they work on the honor system. Prices are clearly marked. You take what you want from the display cases or freezers. Weigh your produce on the scale. Record the amounts on the clipboard. Add it up on their calculator. Pay by cash or check. We first encountered them years ago at Lopez Island's Saturday farmers market. Since then whenever we're on the island we frequent their farm stand. When you consider that they plow their fields using non-fossil-fuel-powered farming methods -- teams of actual plow horses, as their name suggests -- you feel genuinely happy purchasing and consuming their food. They're part of what makes Lopez Island a wonderful place to visit.

The market is large and offers just about everything a grocery store could carry, including both indoor and outdoor machines for refills on spring water (a must on the island, particularly if you make your own coffee). Most impressive is the staff in the meat and fish department. They men and women working there always seem willing to answer questions about stock and are even happy to offer advice about preparing the day's fresh seafood. We've also been pleased with the entire staff. They're available and can point you to the right aisle when you're in a rush. The store can get busy, and when only a couple of checkout lines are open there's sometimes a good wait, but remember this is island time.
