After spending time on one of the less popular islands in the San Juans, Kings Market in busy Friday Harbor can seem like an oasis. The store offers nearly everything, from clothing and souvenirs to a variety of personal and grocery items to ready-to-eat sandwiches, soups, and baked goods. Extensive liquor section. Ample produce section. Impressive offerings of meats and fresh seafood. Bring a cooler and remember to buy a bag of ice. Island prices, sure, but worth it.

For such a small town this is a huge market with fabulous offerings. From the outside you don't realize the size of this & the amount of food contained. We bought $10 box lunches that were made to order for a whale watching trip. The coffee and the homemade baked goods in the morning are pretty fabulous as well. A lot of local gourmet items are wrapped beautifully as gifts. A large selection of local beer wine and spirits too. A half a dozen hot homemade soups & prepared gourmet meals easy to reheated. They have stationary items, toiletries and then upstairs with clothing and shoes. This is more than a Market it's truly an enormous country store with friendly helpful staff.

Well stocked indie grocery store 1of5 (9/30/20)

I wandered in Kings Market during my day trip back on 9/30/20. Very nice indie market for its sheer arrangement, variety of goods, and decent prices, whether you're an actual resident, seasonal visitor, or day tripper like me. I was debating whether to buy stuff from their deli/prepared food area. I remained indecisive, but I did by a large Pepsi to take along on my ferry ride back to Anacortes. Great location, terrific selection, and friendly staff in the main retail area of Friday Harbor.

    Maybe for dinner.

A great grocery store to stop and pick up some supplies while staying on San Juan Island be it on a boat, camping, staying at a house, or while adventuring for the day. Their to-go/take-and-bake section is amazing! When my parents and I came here in late July 2019 to stock up on supplies/food for our few-day stay on the island we had a hard time deciding what to get because there were so many good choices/options. Still numerous options on my most recent visit on Friday the 22nd of May 2020. I got a Teriyaki Chicken dish to-go that I took to a nearby nature preserve and ate on the beach. The store also has a great produce section. Some of the shopping procedures temporarily changed due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) so if those changes are in effect when you visit make sure to bring a face mask. Also, personal reusable/tote bags have been temporarily prohibited, so adjust accordingly. Friendly workers give this store a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

    Nice selection of organic vegetables.

Great places to grab grocery items on the island. Nice people working there with a cool laid back attitude. Quite a few organic options.

Very impressive little store full of tons of stuff! Groceries, pantry staples, a small produce section, some premade deli food and cookies. I was looking for the bakery items. A previous review mentioned delicious homemade pastries. Finally as I choose a cookie and a salad for later I see them. A small pedestal plate with pastries. And on the countertop behind the register tons of croissants! I said, there they are! The two ladies working were not impressed. I asked for the flavors and the lady said, there is a menu right there. Ugh, not fully awake I realized a line had formed behind me. This is the spot to go before getting in a ferry. The sign was not clearly visible and I felt overwhelmed with the decision so I quickly decided on a raspberry almond. This is clearly a place for locals. Everyone knows what they want and where it is. Not super friendly vibes, but oh well. Took photos of my purchases back in my gorgeous villa LOL, watch for my next review. Super happy to discover this market! And I love a good market! Happy travels. SYOY!

I ordered a cold sandwich, The Eagle. I almost ordered the Sammy pastrami for a hot sandwich as recommended by the woman taking my order. The eagle is fantastic! It's on a sourdough bread with a cranberry sauce and sliced turkey deli meat. The cranberry sauce is a cream base and is extremely tasty without being too powerful. I added on bacon and Dijon mustard along with dill pickles. The turkey is perfect and juicy. I was afraid it would be dry, but nope, they know what they're doing here. All the flavors go really well together, even when I added on. And the bread is moist, it didn't quite taste like a sourdough, maybe it was a little bit more of a white bread, sourdough, but it was really good. If my sandwich is this good, I can only imagine how good the recommended sandwich is! The lady who took my order was nice and patient with me and I appreciate that. And she remembered who I was so when she called my sandwich, she basically tossed it at me! In a good way. Only negative thing I can say is the Line situation was a little confusing, but that's really more about the patrons waiting to order or not order or just make up their mind. Walking around the market, they have a lot of options for local snacks and beverages, especially beer. I highly recommend stopping in.!
