We were super excited to try Buck Bay on our visit to Orcas Island! We enjoyed it and ended up going twice! The first meal we got oysters, clams, spotted prawn, a whole crab, clam chowder, and the brisket. The seafood all tasted fresh. Our favorite was 100% the clams. Everything else was still pretty good, but we wished the crab was served warm instead of cold and the spotted prawns weren't as good as some other spots we tried recently. The brisket was definitely our least favorite - it was way too dry. The sides were decent though! The next day we went back and got the clams again, as well as the grilled oysters, shrimp linguini, and halibut fish and chips. The clams were probably our favorite again! The fries in the fish and chips were really good and the fish was decent but not the best fish and chips I've had. The linguini wasn't seasoned enough but after adding some salt and pepper it was pretty tasty - it was a special and they used local goat cheese in it! Definitely recommend stopping by if you're on Orcas Island! There's a decent amount of parking and seating!

A delightful experience for an afternoon lunch! Overlooking the Buck Bay, they have a BBQ station to order up as well as a tiny seafood market with fresh crab, smoked cod etc. The line formed where the seafood is at! My buddy and I ordered the halibut fish & chips, halibut chowders, (6) half shell of fresh oysters and (3) grilled oysters. The halibut fish & chips was delicious! The breading was crisp and the fish meat was pure white -- we were amazed! It was $32 for only 2 pieces which I thought could be at least 3 piece but it is halibut and it's been an expensive fish...so a bit highly priced. The oysters were superb but my favorite was the grilled oysters! We've never had anything like it so if you visit and you like oysters, try these! We would've loved if it was 4-6 of these and restaurants usually do an odd number for food...never understood it. But we'd definitely get these again! The halibut chowder -- hands down, you've got to try this as well! It's not creamy chowder like the usual clam chowder. It was in a light herb broth with tomatoes and potatoes! And good cubes of the halibut in there. My my, that was *chefs kiss*. I'd say this and the grilled oysters are their signature items. They also have other items as well! We also got CBD drinks here LOL (to drink later) and they have beers too (IPA's) and ciders available for purchase. Staff is so nice! They will call your name with your order. They have a lot of benches to sit outside and enjoy your meal :)

    Indoor or bayside ... wow

First, I have to say if you're gonna come to this place you better come feel like you wanna have fun. Because everybody was happy and we don't want anybody to join us that isn't happy. The place was filled inside and out, and the air was thick with laughter. Families, children, adult adults, teenagers they all came and showed their appreciation for fine food. Yes I said fine food. When everything that's cooked has all the flavors that you were looking for offer takes it to cut above you succeeded. Definitely worth a stop and I would say sometimes they have live music I think and also Bayside seating so be prepared to enjoy dressing layers.

What a hidden gem. We would have never discovered this place if not for a recommendation. The seafood is so fresh. Their menu has everything you are looking for for a seafood joint, and more. They also have alcoholic beverages. The line will move super quick and they are fast at bringing out your food. Location is cute as you can walk down to the water. Sit and enjoy the views at a shady table or under the tent. There are bathrooms available. Parking is pretty big. Great for the family.

Bistro at Buck Bay, Orcas Island. Had a great dinner at the Bistro at Buck Bay on Orcas Island. This unassuming local favorite sits right at the water's edge on a hill. You place your order and then sit outside in one of two large, covered areas and they bring your order out to you. We enjoyed a cross sample of their menu including Buck Bay Steamer Clams, Salmon Fish N' Chips, House Green Salad, Pork BBQ ribs and Shrimp Alfredo. The clams were succulent in a great white wine broth, the salmon was a surprise knock-out cooked to perfection, the salad crisp and perfect, the ribs were tender and nicely smoked, and the shrimp Alfredo was good.

Dozen oyster appetizer, clam chowder & salmon kale salad. Everything tasted fresh, probably made more so by dining al fresco with a great view. Get here early cuz it does get crowded & they can run out of the day's catch/special.

Prices are robbery. It's a tourist trap for sure. I got the salad looking at someone else's salad and the quantity was huge but when we got ours it looked like there was literally just a handful of lettuce... and I paid $8 for that?! Oysters were not bad and for the oysters price was reasonable. However, the steamed clams were like $25+ and definitely not the best clams I've had... very mediocre and underwhelming. A little too heavy on the seasoning and really spicy for some reason that I couldn't even taste the flavor of the clams. The garlic bread (though super teeny tiny small) was very good and nice crunch. Would I come back? Only if I was in the area and probably only for the oysters because everything else will break the bank.

We came on a Saturday just before 3pm and it was fairly busy. The ordering process was easy and quick. They have three ordering stations: bistro, shuck your own shellfish, and deli and market with cold raw fish. We ordered from the bistro, which consists of cooked food. We ordered fried oysters, steamed clams, clam linguine, kale caesar and the chowder. Food was great and staff was friendly. Everything was highly salted. I don't usually mind, but about halfway through the clams, it became overpowering and I could have done without it. I'd love to try the halibut and chips next, everyone said it's great!

Absolutely delicious. Everything was insanely fresh! We thoroughly enjoyed everything. Our least favorite item was the Mac and cheese and the only complaint was that it wasn't hot enough. It came out just warm and therefore the cheese wasn't as creamy as we could have hoped but it had a great flavor still. The star of the show was the crab plate. The crab was fresh, sweet and succulent. The warm butter was not even needed but a nice treat on the side. The silent surprise for us was the raw oysters- they were super plump and on the big side so we expected them to not be as delicious. However we were extremely shocked. They were creamy, velvety and sweet. Crab cakes were meaty and delicious with fun flavors. The steamed clams were delightful as well. Perfectly steamed with lord of garlic and sauce and a nice chunk of bread to soak up the extra goodness. The halibut ceviche was beyond fresh and my only complaint was I wish there was more. Really enjoyed it with the fresh corn tortilla chips. The halibut fish and chips were seasoned to perfection. Halibut is not the oiliest fish so it was a little dry but the seasoning more than made up for it. We thoroughly enjoyed the zucchini fries too. Honestly, when we pulled up we were shocked at how busy the place was. But when we left we understood why. This is definitely a must to visit when I'm the area and we will return on our next visit. We were not disappointed at all and was our best meal on the island. Including the cider on tap!

Clams were one of my favorite things we ordered

We heard such great things about this place, that we had to drive out of our way to sample it. It was really busy for one of the first nice June weekend days. They have lots of outdoor picnic and casual chair types of seating. Only one bathroom, so be prepared for a long line. You stand in line to place your order, and then they bring it out to you when ready. They had several gluten-free options listed on their menu, so our friends decided to share a few of them with us to try them out. We had the ceviche and chips, which unfortunately were not very good. We left them mostly untouched. The clams were delicious; the sauce they were served in was particularly tasty. My other gf buddy and I had a trio of tacos, all of which were quite tasty. His wife and the gluten loving husband of mine had fish n chips and Mac n cheese. We couldn't sample them, but they said they were cooked well, just really underseasoned. The setting is really lovely with the beautiful outdoor space and fresh seafood. Food was overall good but just a bit too bland on some of the dishes, and it was very pricey.

Not sure what the hype is about... I guess if you're not from the PNW and haven't been to one of the many places like this, then I get it, but for my family, there wasn't anything impressive going on. Cute picnic spot, food wasn't anything special, very expensive as seafood is... service was just like a typical McDonalds... try it out if you're looking for fresh seafood and are new to this type of area. If you have access to your own seafood and views you might prefer to bbq at home :) We have a spot on hood canal where we can get oysters and class for days with a much better view for free so.... I guess I was expecting something more from this place. We had cevechi (wasn't impressed) Shrimp cocktail (nothing great) Mac and cheese Chowder All small portions... just depends on where you come from, what you're used to, and what you're looking for :)
