Paired with the sauce it was a nice time! The sides really shined, and all of them felt well made. If you're into beans and slaw, this is a good place for those. I say it's absolutely in-line with island prices and reasonable for the locale. Had fresh bread, good veggies and bagged salads, had a few types of beef and pork to chose from and a shockingly good selection of beer and wine. Like.... a whole Isle of good quality wine!!! Service was friendly and super convinenet to use the dock cart to wheel provisions down to dinghy or boat slips. Pro tip: they don't sell spirits.... you can get those directly across the street at the home goods store (odd, I know) for a fair price. Note: Home goods store is open far less hours from grocery, so ensure they are open before you provision for your Margarita Sunday.

Luckily, the Roche Harbor store is a handy dandy little spot that carries an impressive selection of everything from canned food to veggies to alcohol. Are the prices the same as you might find at a mainland supercenter? Heck no. But, if you're in need of provisions, this is one of the few easily accessible (by boat) spots in the islands to stock up and be on your merry way. The cashiers here are also incredibly helpful and friendly - eager to answer any questions or even laugh at your lame island jokes!

We decided to walk-in as the website mentions bar and outdoor seating are first come first served so we were optimistic. However, when we showed up right at 4pm, the bar seats are all taken (only 4-5 seats, 2 parties at a time) and so we got put into a 2 hr 10 min waitlist for next seating, as they don't do outdoors in October (but the weather is so nice... and nowhere on the website mentioned no outdoor seating after summer). But this kind of worked out on our part as we didn't actually want to eat at 4pm. We got the Houlme Dog, MRF pizza with Norcino salami, an orange wine, and dessert (only option is rotating daily - we got brown butter ice cream with grilled chocolate). The Houlme Dog is a fun, casual meets fine dining hot dog with crispy potato and kale and caramelized onion jam. It's good but definitely nowhere near $16. It's just a fun way to enjoy a hot dog with play on textures MRF pizza was a green pizza - it's a kale sauce so it's quite interesting while the others were either red sauce or a white pizza as in olive oil base. The salami add-on was $7 but worthwhile as it definitely made the pizza much more filling and perfect to share for 2 people The dessert is pretty good, a bit simple on presentation but the flavors win. The grilled chocolate had a little bit of smoky flavor to it, and the ice cream itself has a nice small bit of savory, kind of like a salted caramel Their wines are good but expensive, but they were willing to split 1 glass into 2 For a restaurant at this price point, I expected a little more on service. When we arrived back 2 hrs later, we made eye contact a few times with the host/server but they kind of ignored us and took their sweet time doing other stuff than checking us in. I feel like they could've been more efficient seating tables as during our dining, which is around 6pm which should be prime time, they somehow failed to fill the other bar seats the whole duration of our ~2 hr meal, despite overhearing that 5 parties were in the waitlist and someone coming at 6pm would probably not have luck getting seated for the night. Also, when we finished the water jug, they took it away to fill a bunch of them but they never sent a full jug back to us. Even bigger miss was when I finished my water cup and a little loudly placed my cup on the counter and the server saw me, but they still missed the memo to give us water until I had to finally ask. All these little details should be expected as a bare minimum for such a nice restaurant. I had to take off a star for this, despite a strong 5 stars on food

I spent a weekend at the Doe Bay Resort, on another part of the island, but visited the downtown area for an afternoon with my husband and some of our friends. We ended up spending most of our time at the Orcas Island Farmers' Market, which seemed like the place to be on a Saturday afternoon. It was super fun and festive, a bunch of vendors set up on a wide green lawn, with tons of people out enjoying the various offerings and the lively atmosphere. We wandered around, browsing the crafts and food stalls. I ended up getting oysters--raw, grilled, and fried--from Local Goods and a Polynesian plate from Moa Grill. Some tasty, substantial gratuitous snacking. If you're on Orcas Island during a farmers' market Saturday, I'd definitely recommend stopping by for some food and people watching. It's a great way to experience the vibrant villagey feel of this lovely island.

There were at least a dozen food stalls selling anything from home baked bread, cookies, donuts, Mexican food, and Asian. There were stalls selling arts and crafts which are unique to Orca's. We picked up some lunch and enjoyed as the local band sweet music on the stage. A few folks and their kids got off the ground and started dancing. What a scene, as if it's out of a movie scene. It was truly magical.

In addition to a variety of goods made in the Pacific NW and California, Blossom carries the island's own Barn Owl Bakery's marvelous breads and pastries, along with the truly excellent organic produce grown on Lopez Island's Horse Drawn Farm. Yes, some items at Blossom can be pricey, but the store carries items you can't find anywhere else. Blossom also offers weekly sales. The new location is a real improvement over the old store, which was somewhat hard to find unless you knew where it was and, during its last years, really outgrowing its space. Having spent time up on Lopez now for the past several years, it's great to see Blossom's growth and continued committment to healthy foods and products.

The store is owned by an extremely wealthy family on the island. But they still sell cigarettes to the public they make their profits off of people's addictions. I wish we'd known the grocery store was like 2 blocks away but this place got the job done and the employee was friendly. He said the place was open til 11 which seemed like a rarity in the Eastsound area so that is good info to have.
