Loved loved loved our experience here. Such a lowkey but amazing place to sit by the ocean, shuck or eat some oysters, drink some beer and enjoy a nice summer day. We did just that. It was also my first time trying oysters and boy did I love them, especially the bourbon baked one. We also got some cold gazpacho and some cold beer to chug as we watched the oyster fishermen and birds on the bay. The service was lovely and so were the prices. The sun just added to our overall experience.
Great experience! Oysters tasted fresh and were delicious. The raw oysters were a bit salty so some of my friends ended up tossing out the juice (smh) but I preferred to just add some lemon to balance out the flavor. I did like the grilled oysters a bit more than the raw ones, my favorite out of the three was the Chipotle bourbon, it was sweet and tangy and the flavor meshed well with the grilled oyster. The main problem with this place is it's quite expensive, ~$2.5/raw oyster, $4.5/grilled oyster, and $1.5/clam for the clam bowl. The ambiance was great, the views of the water were nice. Service was also fine, if you get the DIY shuck oysters they give you a demo which is great. 4.6/5
Stopped by Westcott Bay Shellfish Company after seeing a few posts about this place on instagram. You'll need a car to get to this restaurant just as a heads up if you are walking on the ferry to San Juan Island. When you arrive there is a free parking lot out front. I'd definitely recommend placing a reservation before you arrive as it can get busy. The atmosphere is a laidback, on a farm, and hidden. When we arrived we checked in with the host and then were seated along the water. To start we ordered the seasonal panzanella salad which was an excellent to start the meal. Next we ordered several grilled oysters including the Herb Lemon Garlic, Lime Cilantro Sriracha, and Chipotle Bourbon. The Herb Lemon Garlic flavor was by far my favorite given the nice balance of flavors. If you are on San Juan Island you definitely need to check out this shell shack.
We didn't make reservations because we didn't check. They were so nice to us. We waited next door snacking on the most delicious bread and olive oil dip. Place is beautiful, everyone friendly. Food so good.
This is a must-try place when visiting San Juan Island! They only have outdoor seating so could be a bit tough with rainy weather. We had a great time shucking our own oysters. Everything was fresh and delicious. They are dog friendly!
We came the first day of the season! We arrived 10 minutes after it opened at 12pm and there were already quite a few people and it filled up quick. Ordering can take a minute when it's busy but the food comes up relatively quick- especially the non cooked options. It was a beautiful day so seating outside was perfect. We got oysters where we shucked it ourselves and it was a fun experience! They give you a demo and can help if folks are having trouble. The freshest oysters you're going to get. The mussels were so flavorful with their broth. I recommend getting their bread for it!
Arrived early for our Sunday reservation and they were able to seat us right away. The grilled oysters were amazing! Also had all the raw oysters, including the ones you shuck! Good service and beautiful setting. Would 100% recommend.
While visiting Friday Harbor, Westcott Bay Shellfish was recommended. Free parking can be found in the lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. We didn't have reservations and were extremely lucky to be seated at a high-top table. If you want a tide table, be sure to make a reservation. The high-top tables are more like bar style seating while the tide tables are more family style seating. The tide tables are equipped with sun umbrellas and closer to the water. The high-top tables are also covered and equipped with blankets to help ward off the chill. The Farm Store is also an option if unable to get seating near the water. A casual self-serve dining style, similar to going on a picnic. The Farm Store also has a little gift shop. Westcott Bay Shellfish only offers beer and wine. I sipped on a glass of Revelation Rose for $14. My wife had a SJI Lager for $9. While deciding what we wanted to eat, we shared the Bakery San Juan Bread for $7 with Olive Oil for $2. We each sampled a single High Beach Sweets Oyster for $3.75 each; served with mignonette and a lemon. We each ordered a Stop Light Oyster Sampler (qty 3) for $13.50: Herb Lemon Garlic, Lime Cilantro Sriracha and Chipotle Bourbon. My favorite flavor was the Lime Cilantro Sriracha while my wife's favorite was the Herb Lemon Garlic. Service was impeccable. The environment friendly. The food fresh, flavorful and fun. Overall, I am so happy that our lodging steered us to Westcott Bay Shellfish.
Beautiful location right on the water, the baked rockefeller oysters were to die for! We sat in chairs on the grass overlooking the water and sipped on cider and ate oysters. What an experience!
I am a little salty that I planned my San Juan Islands trip 3 months in advance, so I was not aware that May-October you can book reservations for all meal services! And I went the very first weekend Saturday of May. We walked in a few minutes past noon (thinking they open at noon) and there was one last table that did not overlook directly to the waters (counter seats), everything else would be all booked up until 1:30pm. They open 11am now. Some info is outdated, and not just this place but also other places, as first week of May is the very first week for most places that fully open up for "summer" season. Nice weather at half the cost is worth the unpredictability, but I digress. It might've made a difference if I double checked my itinerary one more time a week before, but it wouldn't. This one is on me, don't make the same mistake as me! We got the stoplight sampler (grilled oysters) as well as the High Beach Sweets and Little Olys raw oysters. The stoplight sampler featured fairly large oysters marinated in red (chipotle bourbon), yellow (lime cilantro sriracha), and green (herb lemon garlic). Despite the size, the oysters are extremely fresh, no fishiness or bitterness at all. The High Beach Sweets raw oysters are my favorites between the two, and we got it shuck-your-own to save about half the cost, and to experience what it is like to shuck oysters. You can only shuck the High Beach Sweets. The waiter was patient and taught us step by step on how to do it, and the instructions were fairly clear as we did not struggle as much as we anticipated. The Little Olys were okay, I would try just one, as $4 for something super tiny (finger sized) that is briny and not sweet is not my cup of tea. In the end, despite the table location, we still had a fairly positive experience. The waiter is patient and nice and let us temporarily occupy the table directly facing the waters to take pictures and videos, and even took a group picture for us. Honestly, that is what we mostly cared about - to get high quality pictures for the memories, so any seat you sit in is good as every seat faces the water. Pricing can be steep but you are absolutely paying for the high quality, some of the best oysters I have had.
Probably one of my favorite restaurants in the world, and it's impeccable on a nice day when you can enjoy sitting by the water. Reservations are definitely recommended to ensure you can sit at a table. Otherwise they have little chairs by the water that you can sit at. Of course, ordering oysters are a must and I especially love their baked oysters. When I went, they also had a seasonal panzanella salad that was SO GOOD - topped with fruit, prosciutto, and the most delicious ricotta. Absolutely a must visit when in San Juan!
Best spot for oysters! Such a fun experience and great wine selection to pair with your seafood! If you don't eat seafood, definitely get the panini! So so good!
Loved this classically special restaurant. Make a reservation. Definitely needed. We got the only one that was available for 2 weeks. The hostess was was wonderful but told us the special as we walking so missed most of it. My friend would have gotten if she had heard it. A salad with buratta, peaches and lots of other things. We had a great "bar" overlooking the water in a covered area which was great as it was raining. The Albariño was awesome. What a treat to get one of those never available wines. The menu does change so make sure you know that the panini you saw on the website and really wanted might be different than you were hoping. The oysters. Spectacular. I got a couple raw and a few cooked. The cooked ones all 3 had such different yummy tastes. You have to get the bread. A perfect touch to "sop" up the sauces.

The missus and I arrived at 1120am (they open at 11) without a reservation after stumbling off (walk-on) the Anacortes ferry at the Friday Harbor stop, and then walking 15 min to M&W rentals to get a car, before taking 20 min to drive here. There's a decent clip of parking out front, but fair warning - you do have to walk from the car to get to the front. Despite not having a reservation they made it work - hooray! We ordered a dozen of the little olys (only oyster local to WA state), the special salad they had that day, and the bread with sardines and salmon spread. We also got a grilled oyster sampler platter. For drinks, missus ordered the lemonade and I ordered an Arnold Palmer. The bread and oysters came super fast - like within 10 min of us ordering. The panzanella salad ($20 special) was the highlight for missus and myself. For oysters, the little olys were disappointing, salmon dip was really good, as were the anchovies (we got more bread too). We also ordered a half dozen oysters of the high beach sweets since everything was awesome so far. The service staff here are excellent. They checked on us often, cleared plates when things got full, and never over pressured for ordering or timing. We basically finished ordering and eating within an hour. The ambiance is incredible - you have a beautiful water view. If you don't like views, don't come here! The only downside here is the price (which makes sense). Everything priced on its own felt reasonable, but altogether the portion sizing (Olys were a good example) is a bit small, as was the panzanella salad (which makes sense, but also for $20...?). The high beach sweet oysters were definitely better value - for size and cost reasons. Overall a great meal, decent vibes, and a nice view. read more

This was a perfect experience! We were lucky due to the rainy weekend to be able to walk up in a bit of a dry weather spell!! Service was fantastic- such detailed shucking lessons. The salad was overflowing with beets and fruit, the fried oyster sampler was delicious and best of all the shucking lessons! Highly recommend the drive to get her and sit water side and take in the whole experience even in the crazy wind! read more
I was visiting San Juan Island and stumbled upon this place. It ended up being one of my favorite experiences during my trip! Upon arrival, the menu was presented to us. We noticed that the cost of oysters was significantly less if we shucked them ourselves. Problem was, I've never shucked an oyster before and was nervous about cutting myself. The worker told us if we wanted to try, she would show us how to do it. We only ordered a half dozen because I wasn't even sure I'd be able to get them open. We sat outside on their comfy patio near the water. The server came out with the oysters, hand towels, and the shucking knife. She was soooo patient and detailed with her explanation, I really appreciated that. I'll be honest, it was difficult work and took some time, but eventually we shucked the oysters... and it was strange how damn proud I was of myself for doing it, but such a wonderful feeling. The oysters were salty and delicious. Having them with a beer and water views was the cherry on top. Thanks to Westcott Bay Shellfish Co. for providing this experience to us! read more
I wish I lived in San Juan, but then I'd be broke. Definitely one of the best places I've ever been in my life for oysters. The freshness is unbelievable. Such a beautiful place to be for a lovely shellfish lunch. The clams in white sauce were exceptionally good, especially the sauce! The burrata salad with pesto was another amazing one. The five of us just couldn't resist to get it all done! The cheese board was sumptuously delicious. The big plus was the scenery. The food and the waterfront were a perfect match for a great meal experience. read more

My family and I had a delightful lunch here. We ordered the clam bowl (cooked with white wine, leeks and cream), the nibble board, which had a great assortment of cheeses, crackers, roasted walnuts and an olive spread with tinned sardines, and a farm salad which had local greens, beets, pickled onions, and ricotta. All the dishes had wonderfully fresh ingredients --- a special shout out for the clams. We ate here on a perfect weather day with a view of the bay which was also perfect, clouds reflecting off of the calm water. It doesn't get better than this. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Afterwards we took a stroll along the long pier that passed the oyster farm. We also looked at the pleasant shop with shellfish and gourmet foods before leaving. A very delightful place to spend some time. We loved it. read more
This place is a MUST, we absolutely enjoyed our visit here! We had the pleasure of taking one of their farm tours given by three of their staff members. Highly recommend taking the tour, they give you the background of the farm along with the entire process of how to farm oysters, clams, and mussels. We couldn't believe how much goes into the making and now have a HUGE appreciation for them. After the tour we got to learn the proper way to shuck and these oysters were delicious! The oysters had sweetness and meatiness to them and are probably one of my favorites. We were also lucky enough to be visiting during the summer kickoff so we got to enjoy more oysters on the beautiful lawn and some live music. Honestly loved everything from the scenery, the people, and the food! They also have a lunch and dinner spot available during the summer season. We hope to come back again soon! read more

Wow this is a must visit gem if you are visiting San Juan! This place is located right next to Westcott bay and it was such a wonderful add on to our visit. The servers were incredibly kind and the views were beautiful! We ordered the following: Clams: this was sooo flavorful and delicious. We were very satisfied with the clam portion as well, this was one of our favorite dishes! 5/5 Seasonal salad: we wanted to get something refreshing to go along our meal and the salad was delicious. The presentation was beautiful as well. It's mixed in a green pesto sauce which paired well with the vegetables. Oysters: we ordered 3 dozen oysters where we shucked them on our own! This was a fun experience. We had the waiter show us at the start which was fun. Overall it's a bit time consuming but worth it! Bread: the bread is from the San Juan bakery which was delicious! We dipped the bread in the clam juice which was great! Overall this place is a must visit when visiting the island. They also have an extensive beer/wine menu. Definitely try and make a reservation here because i saw them deny all walk ins. We were so lucky to have gotten a reservation! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh oysters! read more
Casual, outdoor picnic table seating by the bay. Reservations are a must. Great ambiance and service. A shellfish lover's paradise. The clam bowl was delicious. The clams were plump and fresh and cooked in a flavorful white wine, leek, and cream broth. The high beach sweets raw oysters on the half shell were fresh and had a tasty sweet finish. The grilled oysters were fantastic. The stop light grilled oyster sampler included 1 chipotle and bourbon, 1 lime, cilantro, sriracha, and 1 herb, lemon, and garlic. The chipotle and bourbon was my favorite, followed by lime, cilantro, sriracha and then herb, lemon, garlic. Everything was delicious and would definitely come back. read more

My husband's first job in the US was at Taylor Shellfish so we can, we take the opportunity to reminisce and shuck a few oysters. Westcott Bay has blankets to warm you as you relax by the fire outside. The oysters were fresh and we loved the oysters Rockefeller. First and foremost you need to have a reservation otherwise you're just not going to get in it is critical that you have a reservation I slipped on some rosé a Caprese salad and oysters What better way to have an afternoon snack then looking out into the bay with the sun on your face relaxing after a long day of traveling to the island. My only complaint is that they sat us here. While I do think it probably was the best seat in the house for enjoying the view and a perfect little table for two or three, they literally threw shells out as we were sitting there. It also created a lot of bees and my husband did not enjoy the smell so unfortunately we ate very quickly and we left and didn't go enjoy the atmosphere as much as I think we could've. If you're going to see gas at this area I would definitely recommend cleaning it up and having a different place to dump the shells. This would be the best seat in the house if you did that. I've eaten at a lot of oyster Farms and I have to tell you that this is not my favorite. It could've just been the environment so again make your own judgment. I did really enjoy the grilled oysters and it is probably the best way to eat them in August. I did try raw oysters and I usually only have them at a oyster farm ONLY in months that aren't in "R". I was impressed with the two different kinds. The smaller ones are native and they take four years to grow apparently and they are the only ones grown on the island so that little fact was cool and they are definitely something to experience Again I think the food would've been delicious if we went to the net shed rather than going to tiny tides. I think it would've been really fun if we went to the net shed and we had gotten some oysters from the farmstand and shucked them ourselves. While they do sell oyster Shuckers they are not labeled with Wescott on them; they're just generic so that would be my only thing is adding that to the merch because I have collected Shuckers from all the oyster farms I've been to so far. I don't know if you have to buy a shocker or if they provide one with you when you're eating at the net shed. Again be sure to call and make a reservation otherwise would be very hard to get a seat read more

Delicious meal right on the water. This is a working oyster farm so you can see the oysters from your seat. You can choose to shuck them yourself or have them shucked for you. We got a half dozen raw oysters and a half dozen grilled. They were delicious and super fresh. We also got the caprese salad and their bread with butter which were equally delicious. I recommend making a reservation as it fills up very quickly as soon as they open. Service was fast and friendly. read more

Located at the end of a long road that winds past many homes, the WBSC is a hidden gem. We stumbled upon it today and had lunch right on the bay where the shellfish are harvested. A cheese and meat plate preceded steamed clams and grilled oysters. We ate them so fast I only got pics of the empty shells. All the cheese and meats were local and excellent. The oysters came in a sampler of lemon butter, pesto, and sarracha. Thumbs up on all three from the girlfriend. A nice Riesling and red ale topped off a a tasty and fresh meal. Our seating was at a counter facing the water. There are tables as well, but it's a good idea to have reservations if you want a table. All the seating is outdoors. Only drawback in my mind was that the steamer clams were too big. I like smaller ones, but the freshness balanced it out. Nice and friendly staff. Dress appropriately if the weather isn't warm. Worth the drive if you're on San Juan island. read more
