I've been here twice for lunch and both times have had good food and service. Loved the fried oysters and shrimp appetizer w/ mustard sauce. Gyro was about what I expected. Moussaka was excellent. The decor is a little dated so the restaurant itself feels a little cold but the food and service Are great enough to want to go back. Wine list is thin but they have some Greek wines and specialty martinis if your into that (all too sweet sounding for me). read more

Had a great meal at Laskara this past Friday prior to concert at Oakdale. Great service! Maria and her mom are lovely and gracious owners. Half of our group got the prime rib special which is GREAT, rest of us got salmon, and the pork chop. Equally great. Huge portions, comes with a family salad as well. Apps were great and so was the Josh wine. Great service and great prices. And the new renovations are so beautiful, bright and updated. Laskara is such a gem. Wonderful service and the staff are so warm and hospitable and clearly love their customers. We all need to support this wonderful family owned restaurant. read more

Good food, but make sure you have plenty of time to spend there . Service was so slow. This was our first time there. We were sitting at the table so long my legs got numb. I know you should not rush a good meal, but omg!! It was only the 2 of us and we were there over 2 hours. Not saying is was the servers fault, she was nice, maybe the kitchen was short staffed. We won't be going back read more

Went here for Mother's Day and overall had a positive experience until the bill came. My husband and I got one of their specials for the appetizer. It consisted of five rather small shrimp with a tomato type of sauce and a few pita crisps. It was decent but nothing all that special and not much food at all. We got similar entrées. He got a chicken dish off the menu for $22 and I got the special which was a sea bass dish. Both came with a starch and vegetable. Mine was very good although the mashed potatoes were clearly from a box. The range of appetizer prices on the menu is $8-$15. The range of entrées is $19-$30. Imagine my surprise when we got the bill and the skimpy appetizer I described was $16! My sea bass dish that was also a special was $38!!!!!! There is nothing even close to that price on the menu. The filet mignon is $30! I had this happen to me at another restaurant a few years back and never went back. It will be the same with Laskara. Food was decent and service was good but I feel when restaurants charge extravagant prices for specials without telling you, it's sneaky and not right. If you do go here, I would recommend not ordering any specials as they will try to rip you off! read more

This is one of those local gems that makes dining so much fun. Nothing unique here, but well prepared food on a consistent basis. Good hearty drinks from the bar as well. Great midweek treat. Zorba's in Meriden is a sister restaurant to Laskara's. Basically Italian/Greek with a full bar, but good hearty food prepared well. read more

Laskara's is a wonderful restaurant for an evening out. The food is fantastic and the service is good. We've eaten here several times and have always enjoyed our meals. Note: for the pleasure of other patrons, leave your kids at home. read more

Our waiter was slow and impersonal- took 15 mins. to get him to come over to ask what we wanted for drinks. The place needs some serious up-dating. It's dark, dingy and boring looking. The prices are on the high side and the food was alright. The taste of the food was nothing to brag about but nothing was really bad either. Most likely we won't be back just because the prices are too high for just "OK" food.... read more

Just awesome! We go here every year for new years eve and the food and service are always top notch. Our server Joan was so nice and had such a great personality. The owner is always present in the dining room and you can tell he really cares about you as he checks in with patrons often at their tables to make sure they are happy. He is a really nice man. We had the twin lobster tails and the salmon...5 stars! Also, if you are a chocolate lover, go with the gluten free chocolate desert. It is out of this world! read more

I feel a little bad about writing this review because it's one of my parents' favorite places and we go often when I'm back in town. It's always been...fine. Not thrilling, just fine. This past time however was really subpar. We had heard from a local friend that they used to like Laskara's but it had really slipped. We were afraid they were right when on entering you see aprons with holes in them, napkins that are completely shredded on the ends and even the napkin folds looked messy and simply thrown together. Of course, those are just cosmetic things but it didn't instill a lot of confidence in us. Unfortunately, that was just a preview of what was to come. There were 11 of us in the group and only 2 of us truly enjoyed our meals. More specifically, my lamb - which was pretty tasteless unless you count the char - was overcooked while my wife's shrimp and my aunt's scrod were very undercooked. Even my dad, who loves the place, thought his filet was really just plain. Again, I've been here before with better results so maybe this was just a rough night. Or then again, maybe they really have just lost the zip on their fastball. read more

We haven't been here in a while and I had to asked myself why when we left. Food was amazing as always and our waiter was professional, personable and made our experience that much more pleasant. Uncertain if the hostess was also the owner but she was just amazing as well! We loved our dinner and our evening!! If you are on the fence...go! read more

Love it! Delicious food and amazing service. For appetizer I would recommend the shrimp feta and saganaki. Family style salads are delicious as well with light house dressing on them. Leave room for the entrees and you can pick anything on the menu and usually it never disappoints! read more

Stopped here before a show at the Oakdale. Service was great and food was delicious! They accommodated my food allergy and got our food out to us quickly knowing we had to make it to the show! read more

The building doesn't look like much, but the food is actually pretty good. My girlfriend and I came here around 6, and it was packed with older people, but that didn't stop us from having a good time! we got the prime rib special to share, and it was delicious! read more

We went last night for the first time. The staff was wonderful, the food was beyond excellent and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. They are, obviously, a very popular restaurant, as the dining areas were quite busy. Still, the staff were very attentive and not hurried at all. I would recommend Laskara to anyone who asks where to find great Mediterranean cuisine. Try the Shrimp Santorini. Out of this world! read more

It's hard to say why we like Laskara's Restaurant. We go early on weeknights when it isn't crowded. They seem glad to see us, the service is prompt and the food is delicious. The martinis are $11, but you only need one. The lettuce in the dinner salad is cut in small pieces so you don't have to cut it up yourself like you do at Olive Garden. I ordered Sea Bass Mystic for $28. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender -- yet the exterior had a delightful little crunch. My partner had Pork Chops Milanese for $22. I tried a piece. It was tender and delicious. My partner uses a walker. There are no steps, curbs, ramps or thick door sills between the parking lot and the table. The bathrooms are private with lockable doors. Hint: there is a "buy 1 entrée, get the second 50% off" coupon on laskararestaurant.com read more

Can't believe this place wasn't on Yelp yet. A little bit out of town, but just about everything I've had there has been above average. Good value wine selection, AWESOME fried oysters (and I trust Connecticut seafood about as far as I can spit). Environment is a little dated, but it's clean, quite, and hits all the check marks in my book. Been here for dinner with my wife, meet-up with friends, retirement dinner with family... good experiences all. read more

In a remote area of Wallingford near the Farms Country Club and Gaylord Hospital. Laskara serves large portions of fresh food (fish, lamb, meats, chicken) beginning with a family style garden salad. We love it here and come with some regularity. Never disappointed. Great desserts too. read more

We came back to Laskaras because we remembered what a great meal we had the last time, this time unfortunately it was very disappointing. We went on a Saturday night and they seemed a bit overwhelmed. We started with lobster bisque which had nice amounts of lobster but was cold and oversalted, for 10 bucks a cup we expected better. I had the seabass, fish was cooked wonderfully but the mashed potatoes and veggies were cold. My husband was not impressed by his filet and thought we could have made better at home. For an expensive meal it was very underwhelming and we won't be so eager to return in the future. read more

We usually loved this place but were very disappointed this time. The Saganaki was smaller, only one soup, no bread. One vegetable. My swordfish was thin and tough, perhaps frozen. The potatoes tasted like instant with a broccoli flavor. Portion sizes on the pork rib was good. The salad was very good. But overall we were not impressed and probably won't return. read more

Second time, food still very delicious. But the service is really slow. Had to dock a star.

The service was awful. Two hours from when we were seated (and we had reservations) our salad finally arrived. Water glasses were left empty forever on the table, drinks took forever as well. I was told the kitchen was "to busy" to make a Caesar salad that I had ordered and I would have to eat the house salad. They were pretty busy at the beginning, but even the once half the tables were empty the service did not improve. read more

The food at this restaurant used to be marvelous, but the portion size has dimisned as of late and the service has gone way down hill. Has a cozy bar and a nice romantic setting but the prices have escalated lately, and the portions have gotten smaller..... good choice of alcoholic bevarages and the appetizers are done quite well as are the desserts! read more

My wife and I had dinner Friday evening. Food was fresh and prepared well. Service was excellent and martini menus fun

Great food. Mostly Italian with a hint of Greek. Definately a hidden gem!! A little pricey for Wallingford... $14 dirty martinis?! That's bananas! read more

Recent visit to Laskara was a total disaster. To start, our server served water in glasses with lipstick around the rim of 2 of our glasses, when brought to his attention his response, this happens and there is not much that they can do about it....really? At this point we told him to forget the water and lets order our drinks. When drinks came out, we (party of four) had glasses that had a slimy film on the outside of our wine glasses at which point we alerted our server who did not have an explanation other than there appears to be a problem with their dishwasher. Our booth looked like it was just used and not properly cleaned at which point we had enough and promptly walked out......huge disappointment read more

This has become our go to place for good food near Cheshire. The Greek salad to share is great and we often ask for seconds. Entre choices cover a lot of ground. the filet and rack of lamb are great choices for meat lovers. The salmon is also excellent. And if you want a more traditional Greek choice like Moussaka, they have that too. read more

Oh man I wanted to like this place so bad. Ugh. They need some serious improvements. Our waiter was flustered from the start, rushing around even though they weren't that busy & he was not really paying attention. The food was decent but it took FOREVER to come out. Drinks were forgotten about a few times. Had to remind the waiter and he seemed annoyed with the basic aspects of what his job entails. One of our dishes had paper/labels from a box mixed into it. They were nice enough to not charge for that one. read more

Went to Laskara tonight. Food was awesome, Maria the owner is a wonderful person, and Patrick the waiter is great. We enjoy going there and always leave overly satisfied read more

Love this place. We have been dining here for years and it seems like the food gets better every time.

We dropped in on Mother's Day early, so it was nice that they were able to accommodate us with no reservation. Unfortunately, our waiter didn't seem to know much about the menu, nor was he willing to check with the kitchen about ingredients. The food we did get was above average. I've yet to try a gyro from them, which will probably make or break the restaurant for me (I love a good gyro). Overall, we will definitely go back at some point, but we clearly weren't impressed enough to have gone back in the last year and a half. read more

Service excellent..food just average. Salads served family style were boring with a not very tasty dressing...we ordered stuffed shrimp for me and steak for my husband...this was from the weeknight early bird menu which has about 8 different meal choices plus a few appetizer choices and two dessert options. We tried the onion soup for me and fried mozzarella for my husband as apps ..soup was good but salty..my husband liked the mozzarella. We both chose the bavalaka for dessert. I've had better but not bad.service was very attentive and professional...just wish the food was a little better tasting.three stars mostly for service. read more

Good food and drinks every time. I have never had a meal here that was not awesome. Desserts are great too.

I love this place! I have been here twice. Once at the bar and once in an actual booth for lunch. My friend and I sat at the bar and the female bartender was very nice and attentive. I ordered prime rib and WOW was it amazing. I ordered the "regular" order and was shocked to see how big it was (easily over 16oz). It was so big I couldn't finish. Every dinner comes with a family style greek salad, which is great and dressing is just right. The appetizers are good and they also have a ladie's night with cheap cocktails. I always check couponclipper because they have great coupons. Last time I used the buy one get one free dinner. The inside does need some updating it is a little bit dark inside. The owner is very nice and makes his presense known and always comes and asks how the food is. The prices are a little steep, but I feel that for the quantity (size) and salad, it is just about right price wise. I wouldn't go here unless I had a coupon..let me put it that way. They could benefit from lowering their price a little. But overall, I highly reccommend this place. read more

Unfortunately, the owner's decision this evening has made me decide to never return. I was searching for a restaurant in the Wallingford area and found this place. I went to their website and saw that there were coupons. Printed off a coupon "Buy one entree, get the second 50% off". I planned to meet a friend there at 6:30pm. Left for the restaurant, but left the printed coupon home in error. I informed our waiter that I left the coupon home, I showed him the coupon on my iPhone. He took our order and said he would talk to the owner. He came back with our appetizer and said the owner required the printed copy. My friend works 5 minutes from the restaurant and offered to bring the coupon in the next day, but the owner would not budge. My friend and I were extremely disappointed and told the waiter that it was no reflection on his service, nor the food, but because of the owner's obstinance, we would never be returning. read more

We decided to give this place another try after bad experiences in the past.I was seeing people praising the food so I thought maybe they made some improvements,I was wrong. We were served salad for 4 on a dinner plate and the salad plates just came of the dishwasher so they were hot.The prime rib was under cooked and looked like a child cut it.The blackened mahi mahi was not blackened and was very dry.The chicken piccata was served with no sauce,I could have made it better. If this place wants to survive they better hire good chefs and do a better job at quality control. read more

great Greek food, very friendly, great service, usually quite relaxing place

Been here a few times now. I find the food is consistently very good. Last evening started with spanakopita ... was excellently prepared and creatively presented. Had the Paidakia (rack of lamb) for the main course. Also done correctly. Not inexpensive but worth the price in my opinion. read more
