Havent been here in over 3 years because doctor told me cut out coffee, salty foods and pastries. I used to live in this place. Lol Well I am back not for me but my parents. After work everyday you can find me in here about 2:30 in the afternoon. Since the Chinese bakery on 61 street is watering down its coffee in the afternoon. Yes I said it! Because I saw it with my own eyes dam it. Why would I pay full price for a coffee watered down at the chinese bakery. When I can get the same coffee here at Los Rojas that isnt waterd down. When you step into here you're transported someplace else entirely. The smell of baked goods, flans, steak and chicken on the grill, spanish news. It is, as a whole, the usual coffee spot, but now in far away in a latin land. Now I have eaten here many times, this was my first having breakfast here and is now also my 1st time reviewing. The immediate response to entering is we are not well recognized, you can tell the same people come here at the same times everyday while we only show up once in a blue when we visit our own grandma not far away. It may be something that can put you off at first, as customer service here is something that is much to be desired, but I promise you to sit down, because the food is great. Viewing the options for breakfast for the 1st time, everything I ever had has been good, but there wasn't too much of a choice or rather no frills in the menu this time a day. We went with a steak torta and a steak egg and cheese sandwich. My wifes torta was more of our usual, and even in the morning, served fresh as always, but ON POINT. Super fresh ingredients, and well prepared steak make something that could be simple into a sensation. Los Rosas Bakery is a fine establishment on the southeast corner of 4th Avenue and 59th Street. Fresh off the subway, I haven't eaten all morning and I'm starved. Looking around to see what I could possibly eat, nothing stood out at first glance. That is, until the sweet aroma that came from los Rosas bakery overwhelmed the smell of urine and feces from the subway. At that point, I knew what I had to do. I walked in the restaurant and I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. Perusing through the menu, I noticed that some of the items were listed in Spanish. it was at this time that I knew my years of studying Spanish in high school would pay off. My father on the other hand, lacking those skills, ordered the one item on the menu that was written in English: the cheese danish (which was delectable according to him). After some consultation with my family, I ended ended up choosing the egg and bacon sandwich. This sandwich might've been the finest egg and bacon sandwich I have had in my young life. More than that, the price was incredibly affordable. $7.50 for a small coffee and the aforementioned egg and bacon sandwich was well worth the money spent. Walking out of the restaurant with my order, I knew I had made the right decision. While Las Rosas Bakery may not have the critical acclaim that other establishments possess, it makes up for that with its family atmosphere and delicious food. In all, I would rate Las Rosas bakery as a 9.64 out of 10, more than enough for a five star review. Came here to try the Tres Leches as I read high praise for it from other reviewers. I have to say the cake was average at best. The milk wasn't even soaked all the way through and the cake overall was on the dry side. I personally prefer some extra milk with my tres leches which was also missing here. I was passing Las Rosas for the umpteenth time! I used to work at the hospital a few blocks away and would pass and never had the chance to stop in. Today's the day and happy I did find a parking spot. Everything is in Spanish which I don't understand..unless of course you're saying you're in pain or I can ask what's your d.o.b., . The young lady behind the counter was very helpful. So I ordered a pernil sandwich, a couple slices of flan, a slice of chocolate and a slice of strawberry cake...I'm going back to eating plant based so I'm eating whatever I want till Sunday. The flan is so good, creamy and smooth but not too heavy, and not overly sweet. The pernil sandwich was ok, but I prefer when the meat is pulled from the roast itself. This was most likely in the fridge and chopped up on the grill. It was not fatty at all and did have a good taste. The bread was light and didn't make me feel like I just ate a ton of bread, that was good. For me half was enough. I just took a small taste of the cake and it is good. It's a tiny hole in the wall on the corner of 59th and 4th Ave in Sunset Park, a stone's throw from my house and I go there from time to time to fill my belly with hot fresh and criminally cheap tacos. We're talking donuts, guava pastries, lemon cakes, cookies that look like cartoon characters, eclairs, desserts filled with cream, jellies, and everything imaginable. The other side is a diner counter perched in front of several ladies grilling up your tacos, burritos, and enchiladas to order. There's a tv in the corner, blaring some horrible 80s Jean Claude van Damme movie...in Spanish. The ladies don't speak English too well, but they get what you want and they really deliver. (Yes and they also do deliver too, as in takeout.) It's the real deal. So in hopes that the gentrification of Sunset Park will be slow to come, please don't visit Las Rosas Bakery. One of the best Saturday afternoon meals I've had in a long time. Las Rosas is a gem of an eatery. My fiance first discovered this bakery when I picked her up off the 59th street train station conviently located 2 feet from Las Rosas. After trying their delicious Tres Leches cake we decided to stop in a week later to see what their menu had to offer. Best. Decision. Ever. We took our time examining all the tasty baked goods while also sneaking a peak at what the experienced customers had ordered. After a very nice waitress saw us staring blankly into space, drool coming off our chins we were handed a menu. 1 Chorizo/Egg Tora! 1 Spicey Pork Taco! 1 Chorizo Taco! 2 sodas and 2 of those awesome looking pasteries, please! What are they called? ...ok, great never going to remember that but sounds good! First off, the torta is almost enough food for 2 people. A quite large, incredibly tasty mix of eggy goodness and spicey chorizo...and it's only 6 bucks! Tacos were fantastico but likely not the best choice we could have made will all of the other options on the menu. The pasteries were great too; next time we plan on spending a bit more time exploring the other offerings since we got the feeling things filled with guava was a running theme that we missed out on. In conclusion? Great food, friendly waitresses, wallet friendly prices, perfect counter top seating with your morning paper atmosphere and right off the train goodness. Can't go wrong. Me and my friend were hungry as shit and this bakery was just outside the subway. "Let's go there," she said. I looked up at this dinky little thing with tacky design and half clean windows. Every inch of my body tells me to say no. But my stomach gave in. All the customers there were hispanic and once we walked in they all stopped their meal to look at us.
