I can be found here drunk on most weekends after 4am. This is my favorite spot to go to after a long night of party rocking. From the moment we discovered this bakery, my girlfriend and I have been visiting the bakery at least once a week!! I've been searching for the perfect steak sandwich for all my life and I have finally found it!! Big sandwiches for $6! Although the look of the place is pretty sad, the food is beyond delicious! The steak sandwich is so juicy, and full of flavor! So are their breakfast sandwiches. Not recommended for pastries...we have so far tried the bread pudding, rainbow cookies, rice pudding and flan. The bread pudding and flan were not the best, however, the rice pudding and rainbow cookies are ok. Oh, and how can we forget about the croissants...they are a must try! The only reason why this one didn't get its 5th star is because of the overall look of the place. The cakes on the window display seem to have been there since 50 years ago...and the cleaningness is questionable, as of yesterday their Grade is still pending. Is like a love-hate relationship. It's a bit disappointing that the 3 dollars of extra pork I requested one time in my torta was not particularly voluminous. I'd say that the tortas here are above average for the area; I've had better. The vegetables were not particularly fresh. Most of the food is prepared on a hot top visible to customers placing their orders. I must say I haven't been particularly enamored with the cooking practices I've witnessed. I am a big fan of Las Rosas for breakfast and the grill. I have also enjoyed the flan and the rice pudding. Tacos carnitas and nachos carnitas forever! The ladies cooking here use plenty of salt and pepper which I find delicious! The tortas are also delicious. Las Rosas is basically a bakery with a diner style counter with fixed stools. They always have fresh coffee available and they serve it light and sweet. I would warn that it can be a little sketch on weekends during late night with plenty of drunk folks staggering in for comfort drunk food. read more

Wonderful local place to eat, located right outside the 59th Street station, which is very convenient. I live nearby and their beef tostadas are the absolute best. I always order more than one tostada-- super crunchy shell with bean spread, chopped up beef, lettuce, tomato and cheese at the top. Took away a star because while this is called a bakery, when you look at the displays, it seems not many people come for their baked goods. (That, or they baked way too many and some end up molding). Best tostadas and tacos in the neighborhood, hands down. Their tostadas are crunchy and topped with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, crumbled cheese and beef-- delicious!! The only con about this place is the language barrier since the area is densely populated with Hispanics. There's a girl who works there every other day that understands English. I like their tres leches cake and their food but the customer service is absolutely horrendous. Just ordered a cake from them and no one was picking up the phone at first and when someone finally picked up the phone the woman was nasty over the phone telling me to call back. I told her that I needed the cake in 3 hours and wanted to give them ample time but she yelled and said she was too busy and then had a conversation with another co worker yelling that I needed to call back. The cherry on top was that I sent an employee to pick up the cake and they were completely rude to her and they butchered the Pastor's name on the cake. I've been here a few times, and it's always been great. They have lower price egg sandwiches than some of the other places in the areas, plus they have actual places to sit down and eat. For around $10 I was able to get two bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches on a hero, an iced coffee and a canned drink. I have only tried two of their pastry items. The sugar donuts are three for $1 and are great if you heat them up at home. I tried some kind of vanilla iced cake there as well and it was just okay, because it was a little dry. I needed to buy a tres leches cake for my friends party. I ended up getting a cake made for 15 ppl, that fed more like 30 because the layers were so thick for $35. Super delicious, cute white round cake with fruit and nice frosting detail. When I called I ordered in Spanish, don't expect them to take a complete order with coloring, flavoring and writing detail in English. Traveled down to Sunset Park for this, right off an express N train stop. Got some tacos while there as well. Great food but the evening shift is very forgetful about orders. I have order many times and in many occasions they forget to execute the order. You assume you have your meal ready for pick up when in reality they never do it. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE.
