This bakery is always busy whenever I bike past in the morning. Finally I stopped by one morning to try this place. Most people were ordering in Spanish so I was a bit nervous. However I was able to order fine. I got the chicken empanada and the beef carimañola. The chicken empanada was okay, nothing spectacular. However it was my first time trying carimañolas (yuca fritter stuffed with beef), it was good I now added it to the.list of random stuff I crave. As a cheese lover this is the ONLY place I can vouch for that has the BEST cheese empanadas. They don't skimp on cheese like other places so the empanadas are filled with cheese. The best & juiciest cheese empanadas I've ever tasted. I've also tried their chicken empanadas several times but they were overly dry so I stay away from those. The meat empanadas though, are amazing and filled with beef and potato. The Chorizo is really good as well. This has been my go to place for a quick bite for a while. I had the privilege of having my first authentic Colombian breakfast with my Colombian nephews at this excellent bakery. I ordered the #3 Huevos Pericos - calentado con carne o pechuga a la parrilla (scrambled eggs w/ re-fried beans, grilled chicken breast (you have a choice of beef or chicken) and arepa (corn cake). Not only was my breakfast delicious but there was so much on the plate that I could not finish everything. Meanwhile my nephew's son cleaned off his plate of fried eggs, bacon and French fries ~ so much for missing the food of his country of origin! :-). The coffee here is also worth mention. Get yourself to Pariscien Bakery! With the exception of empanadas, Colombian baked goods are one of my blind spots, but a quick view of the Yelp photos and some finger points will get you where you need to go. Yes, I tried my remedial Spanish (I swear I used to be fluent), and they just started speaking to me in English. Not embarrassing at all, I promise. Grabbed some beef empanadas, buñelos (big ass cheese bread balls), and a giant pan pecosa (a melted cheese-topped bun). Everything was delicious. In addition to being gigantic, the buñelos are also super dense, so beware. The empanada was a delicious treat fresh and came with dipping sauce. The pecosa is big enough to be a meal at only $2! Crunchy on top and fluffy inside (just like me). I also got a cup of coffee, which wasn't anything to write home about. I came here for breakfast after the gym in a Saturday morning. This is an old school Colombian bakery. They had breakfast platters but I wasn't hungry enough to order one (yes, such problems I have haha). I ordered a Colombian arepa (corn and cheese cake) and a beef empanada. I wanted a platano (plantain stuffed with cheese) but they didn't have any. There's no labels on the items so you have to ask. The arepa and empanada were both warm and fresh. The corn cake was slightly sweet but not sugary. It was larger and thicker than I expected. The empanada had a crispy outer shell and there was a lot of meat inside. There's some seating inside. I stopped by The Parisian Bakery as I was exploring more breakfast locations and the name had me thinking, well-Paris It was not Parisian, but an inner calling yielded a memory of years past. I recall I enjoyed a particular Spanish (South American) pastry, that I have since always kept a keen eye out for. It was a guava based pastry, and unfortunately, I did not find it along the many other pastry items that greet you once you have stepped inside. The workers didn't seem to understand me that well, but I can point and talk basic Spanish, so I was confused as to why ordering was a challenge. To those with less linguistics than myself, good luck. Items are labeled behind the glass cases in Spanish which I hope they print up the translation for a bit of guidance for the non Spanish speaking crowd. I think what was most striking to me in a less positive light was that I had to wait an additional 7.24 minutes to ask 1 simple question. I was motioning for attention and I am 6'2 220Lbs among 5 Ft minimals. There were 3 customers at the counter as I was being ignored, my intention was to ask for a menu to describe what I ordered. I'm in search of a good Colombian bakery in Brooklyn since I left Queens. Pariscien is not it. Their empanadas lacked in flavor and were missing the potato they usually mix in with the meat inside of the empanada. Their coffee also takes like typical bodega coffee. Pick up some pan de bono or those deliciously good empanadas (i recommend the beef ones with the aji sauce, so good) and go. coffee is ok. i prefer stronger more flavourful coffee but this isnt bad. only thing i dont like about this place is that rude Colombian lady who always looks like she's angry she has to work here. when im on the line i always pray i get one of the other nice girls. She always gets my coffee order wrong so whenever she serves me, i just skip the coffee. She asks what do u want and as ur giving her your order she looks away and ignores you. i always have to repeat my order 3 times and she still gets it wrong . I havent tried the dishes on the menu. Yummy deserts and perhaps one of the best cups of hot coffee in the city. The beef empanadas are hot, moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. They are hot and made every half hour or so ensuring that they are fresh and delish! The bacon and boiled potatoes are a must too. The food is ok if a bit heavy on the grease. The main issue here is the service. The women behind the counter are all over the place and never seem to have any limes. How are you serving chorizo without limes!? It's also cash only which frankly is a pain these days though they do have an ATM inside. Think of this as an old colombian coffee and breakfast/lunch spot. the name of the place is terribly misleading but I'll give them a pass on that (Parisian when it should be called the Colombian coffee shop). the decor is old and ugly but the food and coffee is really good especially for the prices (about $7 average for something like steak, rice, plantain, beans and eggs in one dish). If you come in here knowing that it's an affordable place to get a colombian breakfast or lunch with the best coffee on earth (none of that super complicated Starbucks stuff here...a coffee is just a coffee). They could benefit from a complete make over but I'm not here for the decor I'm here for the good food and the prices. read more
