Authentic Sicilian food that tastes like the food my grandparents used to make for me. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. It's not too loud either -- you can talk to others without yelling. The insalata verde is delicious. It's nice and simple, like many Sicilian foods, containing arugula, pistachios, caciocavallo cheese, olive oil, and maybe a hint of lemon. Everything is made fresh, including the sauce, which is tangy and authentic. I have ordered a side of sauce before and the owner gave me a nice portion. I think he should add it to the menu as I'm sure I'm not the only one who would buy a big container of it. We also love the arancinette (rice balls with cheese). They are crispy on the outside while still tasting light. We have also tried various pasta options, which have been great. I went to lunch with my wife at Amuni. Greeted as soon as we walked in and seated quickly in the outdoor dining area. I ordered a panelle special and my wife ordered a salad and a separate order of panelle. Food was made to order and very fresh and delicious. I wish I could uproot this gem to Carroll Gardens. I love it. I found out on Instagram that Amuni would be serving some specials at the Bay Ridge 3rd Avenue Festival which was held today. I was set on going and immediately knew I would head straight to Amuni upon arrival for a good lunch. The street fair was fun and I walked many steps, but my highlight was the food at Amuni. Mini Panelle Sandwiches, Sfingione (with or without anchovies), Octopus, Arancini and fresh Limonata were some of the specials. I had a mini Panelle Sandwich, Sfingione with Anchovies and a fresh Limonate (lemonade). If these foods sound foreign, it's because this is authentic Sicilian food. Delicious and comforting. Everything was excellent--- I didn't expect otherwise. I had the pleasure of seeing chef/owner Vincent again who is always so pleasant and welcoming. We ate indoors in the cozy space. Hidden gem alert!! My husband and I decided to take the ferry to bay ridge and chose to have dinner at Amuni given the strong reviews we saw online... it did not disappoint! Walking in, we were greeted by the friendliest man - I assume he was the owner! We sat outside in the back which was a cute patio with tables of varying sizes, though there were a few tables inside as well. Everything on the menu looked so good, we ended up ordering way too much food. Not a bad problem to have though, we just took the leftovers to go! My husband looooves sardines, so he really enjoyed the sandwich, even though it was a little less up my alley. The fried artichokes were also really good, would echo the recommendation of everyone else! The Calabrian chili pizza was delicious and had a great kick.. and that pasta al forno was very flavorful! Popped into this place because I've been hearing about it lately with my husband. We figured we give it a try. Very cute little restaurant with a lot of nice Sicilian specialties. You don't often see sicilian specific spots. This is one of them. They have all the heavy hitter italian dishes as well as stuff that is specific to sicily. The pasta al forno was a hefty portion with good flavor. Its like elevated spaghetti o's (i mean that as a compliment). The aracine are really good. Plenty of filling as well. The pizza didn't look like much but it was very good. The dough makes it stick out. Next time I will try the sandwiches. I would for sure come back. read more

He also stated that the food comes out very fast and advised us of the portion sizes to help us determine if we should share or not. Appetizer CARCIOFI FRITTI- Crispy fried artichoke hearts with pesto mayo. We really enjoyed that dish! Pizza SFINCIONE BAGHERESE- Ricotta, primo sale, and caciocavallo cheeses with caramelized onions and seasoned bread crumbs. That was suggested for us to try since we asked for a recommendation and it was good. I just personally do not like too much breadcrumb and the dough could have been crispier. Pasta PASTA AL FORNO. Baked anelletti pasta with ground beet, peas and mozzarella cheese. Definitely large enough to share with two people. It was very good. Dessert- Orange sorbet Tortoni They were served completely frozen. It took forever for them to defrost. Pretty good take on Sicilian fare. The fried artichoke weren't overly oily and had a light batter on them. I think I'm just not a huge fan of this dish in general. It just mainly tasted like eating canned artichokes. The eggplant panini was good enough. The roll was a bit too dry and chewy for my preference. They have a nice selection of unique Italian beers. I finally tried Amuni Brooklyn and ordered the special of two 1/2 trays, one penne a la vodka and one eggplant parmigiana this week and it was absolutely fantastic!!! I cannot say enough positive things about the quality, quantity, and price!! The eggplant parmigiana is one of the best I've ever had, and I'm an eggplant connoisseur, in my opinion. The way it's sliced so thinly and lightly breaded without a lot of grease, the sauce, and quality of cheese is literally chef's kiss!! The pasta is cooked perfectly al dente, which is excellent if you're going to be reheating it later on or in days to come. I can't wait to see this week's special!!! Came here on a sunny weekend for lunch dining in the backyard area. Shop just opened for lunch-time so there was only the owner manning the entire place. Ordered the Arugula Salad with pistachios (tasted really refreshing), and their Muffuletta Panini for starters-Food came out fairly fast. Wanted to try their homemade pizza- and got their Sausage, onion, Mozzarella Pan pizza; tasted okay with the caramelized onion gives it an extra sweetness. Overall, food was authentically good. Wow. Everything here is made with the finest ingredients, super fresh and in perfect combinations. Amuni doesn't focus much on full-size entrees, leaning mostly on antipasti and panini, which turns to be great since it provides more sharing and sampling options. If you haven't done your Yelp homework, they do an awesome job of explaining and recommending things, part of the unusually excellent service. And if you have researched the menu you already know about the panelle and the cannoli adorned with pistachio. The fried artichokes are a must-have. These and an olive special showed Amuni's brilliance in fried items that are satisfying but not heavy-handed. Being a native Brooklynite, I wanted Panelle sandwich. It's a Sicilian 'street dish' that's a sandwich. Seldom places offer it and luckily I found Amuni. It's a small cozy eatery located on 3rd Ave and 72nd St. in Bay Ridge. I called and ordered a few Panelle sandwiches and extra Panelles to freeze and give to family. They are delicious!! Even better is the people. The manager / owner was so polite, very helpful, friendly, patient with my questions and accommodating. They wore masks, had food in thick paper shopping bags, wrapped well for safety AND freshness! I look forward to spreading the word about this place, a Bay Ridge treasure. My husband got the panelle sandwich with ricotta, I ordered the eggplant parm plate, arancini with meat and peas and an order of potato croquettes. My husband put two of the croquettes on his sandwich. He loved it! I tasted it and it was very good. I never had panelle before. The ricotta was creamy, the bread was good with fried panelle, I will get this next time. The potato croquettes are so crispy, little fried ovals of seasoned potatoes. arancini were also delicious, with meat and peas inside, very good. I got the eggplant which honestly I wish I could say I loved. For me the sauce was too acidy tasting, no mozzarella throughout only on top. This is where the one star comes off. Unfortunately, the day of the shower was a crap shoot for the weather, so Vincent accommodated us inside instead of in the backyard.
