This is small quaint bakery/restaurant. The store front is split into two sections, one side is the restaurant and the other is a bakery and kitchen with a few seatings. The bakery section is also where you order to go. The ladies working there are very nice. Disappointed that they didn't have any ice cream or fruits available from their menu. Here's what I ordered and my thoughts on it: Chicken and beef empanadas $2.90 each The shell is harder and the inside is filled with meat and mashed up potatoes. It came with two sauces. One mild and one was spicy. The shell had a much harder exterior than most empanadas and the filling tasted well seasoned and I enjoyed it. Chorizo $6 this come with one piece of chorizo and a piece of yuca frita. Very delicious and not overly salty. Tamal Tolimense Tolima Region Tamale $16.00 This was supposed to be star of the meal. Very disappointed that the meat in it was very dry and not flavorful. The masa on the other hand was soft and flavorful. The meat tasted like left over meat that was boiled. Definitely not recommending this dish. Tre leche $6 This cake was delicious. Definitely on the sweeter side. The highlight of this place is the chorizo and the empanadas. Would come back and try the breakfast platters. SB: they do charge more if you use card.

Great Colombian cafe. Really small shop and will be easily missed because of the location. I have only had their snacks and they all are really good. The service is efficient.

This place is disgusting and a complete ripoff. I ordered the arepas with chorizo and Chicharron. The arepa had no flavor, the guacamole was so salty , chicharron was stale, and the chorizo was okay. To top it off there was a hair on my plate. I throw everything out and yet they want to charge $15&$18 for this garbage. I would not recommend this place. Also, notice the price difference between Uber eats and what was charged when I called in the order for a pickup. Presentation was just thrown together. Places like this are really bring down the neighborhood.

I'm so happy to have found a Colombian restaurant in Bayridge. I've ordered from this restaurant through Uber eats before and they were outstanding. Everything was very authentic and delicious. I had breakfast Their chorizo, huevos pericos and pan de bono were really good Their coffee was not bad at all very good. Will be returning for more :)

Ordered the rotisserie chicken with garlic sauce and got it with yellow rice and tostones. (9 out of 10) Also tried the empanada sampler which came with four empanadas of my choosing and tried the Beef, shrimp, chicken, and birria. (8 out of 10) I mean this sincerely... everything was beyond flavorful. The rotisserie garlic chicken had to be my favorite bite of the night but each empanada included in the sampler was crispy, tender, and decadent; each one leaving its own individual mark. Seriously blown away and might even had to stop in to try the food at the restaurant next time. Can't wait to see order from here again!

Food: This place is quite bad. We ordered the tortilla soup and the vegan tofu chimichurri. The tortilla soup was inedible it was so salty. The tofu was grilled and entirely burnt on the bottom. I had to slice the entire bottom off. The chimichurri sauce was flavorful. The yellow rice side seemed like bagged instant rice. The maduros were good. Did not try the alcohol but they had a large selection including non alcoholic options. The place adds a 20% auto gratuity fee. Kind of absurd on a 2 person check. I am Latina so perhaps I have a higher expectation for Latin food but I'm perplexed at how this place could have such high ratings, perhaps it was just a bad night. I would never go back and would not recommend.

The moment you step inside, you're hit with a masterclass in ambiance: dramatic paintings, modern industrial mirrors, lighting so flattering it could fix your credit score, and a neon‑blue bar that looks like it was designed by someone who said, "Let's make this place unforgettable." And they did. We arrived for our 7:15 reservation and were offered our choice of two tables -- a luxury in itself. It was a little stuffy inside, so we chose the table by the front window, where the air was breathable and the people‑watching was premium. Menus and water arrived immediately, followed by our server three minutes later, ready for drink orders like a man on a mission. I ordered a Shirley Temple; The Man ordered a Cacho Caipirinha. Three minutes after that, the drinks appeared along with a server who was clearly thirsty for our entrée choices. And let me pause here to say this: the service at Puertas is impeccable. Not "good," not "attentive," not "friendly." Impeccable. The kind of service where the staff moves with the precision of a well‑rehearsed ballet -- present but never intrusive, efficient without rushing you, warm without hovering. Every detail was handled with a level of professionalism that most restaurants only dream about. We ordered ceviche to share, I chose the Carne Asada, and The Man went for the Bandeja Paisa Colombiana -- a dish so large it should come with a legal disclaimer. What I forgot to mention is that Puertas had a live Latin band playing the entire time. Yes, live music. At dinner. In Bay Ridge. I nearly shed a tear. The ceviche arrived in five minutes, served with plantain patties and a need for a quick stir to distribute the seasoning. It was tasty -- bright, fresh, flavorful -- but let's be honest: it wasn't ceviche. True ceviche is raw fish "cooked" by citrus. This fish had clearly been cooked beforehand, likely to avoid lawsuits from people who fake food poisoning faster than they reach for Pepto Bismol. It's a shame, because a restaurant as talented as Puertas deserves the freedom to serve the real thing without fear of someone weaponizing a stomachache. But I digress. Entrées arrived about ten minutes later -- fast, efficient, and accompanied by music so good I briefly considered quitting my job to follow the band on tour. My Carne Asada was a beautifully grilled skirt steak topped with chimichurri, then topped again with crispy potato strings, all resting on mashed potatoes so smooth and flavorful they could convert a non‑believer. And I'm a mashed‑potato snob. The Man's Bandeja Paisa Colombiana was a platter large enough to feed a family of four, but he approached it like a man possessed -- eyes rolled back, no talking, no thinking, just pure blissful shoveling. Portions were enormous, so naturally we took home half the restaurant. Dessert was a religious experience. I ordered crème brûlée; The Man ordered tres leches cake. Two espressos joined the table, and suddenly everything in life made sense. The desserts were perfect -- rich, balanced, and absolutely worth the calories. The bill came to $184 before tip, and frankly, Puertas could have charged more. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the live music -- it was a five‑star experience without question. Puertas isn't just a restaurant. It's a full sensory event. A celebration. A place that knows exactly what it's doing and does it exceptionally well. Bay Ridge just got a new star, and I cannot wait to go back.
