My girlfriend and I found a staple inside her chicken quesadilla. Luckily, she was able to spit it out before swallowing it. The only reason I gave the place 2 stars is because the food itself is very good and fresh. I tried a good amount of stuff in their menu. I remember craving for nachos and their melty, cheesy dip did not disappoint. I truly love the rotisserie chicken in this restaurant. I love that I can order the chicken (quarter or half) and it can come with two sides. My go-to is white rice and steamed veggies. I've also ordered their tacos and that usually hits the spot! One of my favorites is their burrito bowls. I've tried bistec and their rotiserrie chicken (makes for a good post-workout meal). Truly wonderful and the portions are amazing for the price. I had such a pleasant experience here! The waitresses were so friendly, they were efficient in cleaning before and after guests leave. The food was also delicious!!! They provided free nachos and salsa which was a great appetizer before the entree. We ordered horchata, enchilada with green sauce and the cuban hero. Horchata is one of the best I've had! Just want to start off my saying the customer service here is stupendous. The gentleman and all the ladies are very tentative, accommodating and overall friendly! The food here is also delicious. Please try the creamy green sauce!!!!! Highly recommend the tacos which come with onions, cilantro and guacamole! Favorites are the steak and the fried fish tacos. Recent reviews don't mention that location is no longer Don Mario's. It's Las Margaritas Mexican restaurant, and has been for about three years according to our server. the food is well plated with large portions. Servers are pleasant. The food is very salty and rather pricy, at nearly 30 dollars for most of the dinner plates, and close to 20 for the Mexican specialties. I don't recommend this place, but it's not terrible. Call it Mi Tierra or Don Mario, but either way, it's delicious. A few months back, my friend and I came by for takeout from Las Margaritas (next door) which is always a solid choice. While waiting for our food, we noticed a line that ended up wrapping around the block. And what was it for? Mi Tierra, formally known as Don Mario. With a large following of loyal customers willing to line up for their food pre-outdoor dining, you know this place has got to be good. Last night, I was able to stop in for takeout and the food did not disappoint. For my order, I went with the Arepa con Chorizo. At $5.95, I was expecting this to me a small little thing but it was actually HUGE and very filling, with melted cheese glorious-ness and tons of spicy chorizo. I also ordered a side of the Maduros which was extremely generous as well. It paired perfectly with their signature light green sauce. So yummy. My friend did a massive takeout order as well, which included the Family Combo #4 with Rotisserie Chicken. Another big portion for the price. Her larger order meant we experienced a longer wait time, as the restaurant was already busy with outdoor dining and delivery orders. For me, it was well worth it. Man, this place has really gone down in quality over the years. I wish I had heeded some of the warnings I saw on Google but I grew up in Bay Ridge and Don Mario used to be one of my go to spots. It's been years since I've had them, now they have a new location or two according to some reviews? They used to be across the street from Las Margaritas and now they're next door to each other. I never put two and two together that they were making Peruvian chicken back then but it used to be a fave of mine. I went with the whole chicken instead of the half combo because I wanted leftovers and I didn't want my food touching. Yellow rice and black beans on the side separately, $4.50 each. It was nothing like I remembered. I hated the yellow rice, I barely touched it. It's exactly the texture of Mexican rice that I do not like. I can't explain it, maybe I'll take a picture later. Not to mention that for almost FIVE DOLLARS, the container was halfway full. I kid you not, you could literally see that they only filled up half of the aluminum container when I opened the bag, it was all pushed to one side. The beans? F L A V O R L E S S. I love black beans man, theirs were so disappointing. There is such a thing called salt, use it! The most disappointing part of the meal however was the chicken. In my opinion, there's really no point in advertising that your chickens are marinated a day before roasting when they're bland as hell. I had to bring the adobo out. I hate when I have to do that. I gave them two stars simply because the chicken was cooked well, the breast wasn't dry which they deserve credit for. However, even with the green sauce, (which I also didn't like much) it gave nothing. I ended up only eating the chicken and now I have a another half sitting in my fridge that I'm not excited for whatsoever. Sad, I was hoping for a different outcome! read more

The burrito was good to say the least and platano maduro so frigging good. The calamari was excellent but the dipping sauce is meh . Really taste like barbecue sauce and not traditional marina sauce. I can over look this minor detail. I really love crunchy French fries and calamari was the same when ordered. Don't you hate when you pay for wet and mushy French fries. This place is great. This might be the one and only Columbian spot that I know of in Bay Ridge and I must say they did not disappoint. One of my favorite dishes of all time is enchiladas and the enchiladas here are delicious. As their name states they do have rotisserie chicken. What I love about this place is that you can get that rotisserie chicken in any of the chicken dishes or you can just have regular chicken. The rotisserie chicken is really good and definitely worth selecting as your protein. As for the drinks they makes some good Pina Coladas and a nice Margarita! On the same exact block as Don Mario there are literally 3 Mexican restaurants that they are competing with but I think this will be my new go to! read more

Don Mario is a great place to have a few drinks if you're not in a rush. I have been to Don Mario quite a few times before and I always forget to leave a review. I will be honest the food here is just OK. I ordered some taquitos and they were severely severely over cooked/over fried. The chicken was bone dry and cooked well beyond done to the point of dryness/chicken jerky the beef was the same as well as the cheese guacamole is OK but not really anything special it needs a hefty amount of seasoning as well as spice to give it some flavor. I also mistakenly ordered the queso again which is basically nacho tortilla chips with a big thing of melted cheese. Every time I get this melted cheese I wonder why I order it because it is pretty bland and yet again black and flavor. Service is very very slow but I will blame that on The lack of servers and the amount of tables that they have. They really really do try hard to make you happy and they earn my respect and three stars are simply due to the fact that they really work hard and they try their best to keep up with everything but I feel that as a local you need to support a small local business. The people are warm and friendly I'll be at the service very slow, the food is OK but not something that I would return for, and while I really don't have too much to say regarding this business in terms of positive things such as tasting a shop of food, the prices are reasonable and reflect the type of food and service that you can. I placed an order, it took very long to arrive. When it was received, the order was in fact incomplete. Seems like this should be pretty cut and dry right? I called the restaurant to tell them that a portion of my order was missing. When I spoke with the gentleman, who must have been having a pretty awful day, I was told I would have to wait until the delivery guy returned and IF the chicken was in fact NOT received then they would give me the chicken I paid for. I explained that I wouldn't lie about not receiving a portion of the order. I also mentioned that I order from the restaurant all the time and have even sat in the actual storefront with my family. The gentleman was adamant that I was wrong and raised his voice then proceeded to tell me my voice sounds familiar. He proceeded to tell me that I had called before. I am not sure who he thought I was but I'm sure they are not friends. Since I place all my orders through GrubHub I explained that I hadn't called and had never had a problem before. He was aggressive and rude and plainly called me a liar, wanting me to wait for the delivery guy so he could see a receipt. A receipt I'm sure he could easily retrieve online for any information he may have needed. I am a long time Bay Ridge resident and have ordered from Don Mario's Rotisserie numerous times. I have never been treated like that. I would never deem it acceptable to treat a customer, any customer returning or otherwise, the way I was treated tonight. Was looking for a take out place on a sunday night and came upon this on yelp. Seeing the positive reviews about their food made me come try this place. The restaurant is really small, probably can seat a maximum of 20 people. We had their guacamole and chips, pollo asado enchilada, and chicken quesadilla. The guacamole initially tasted good and fresh, but then realized there is a big piece of lettuce in it making it seem like there is more guac than it really is. Secondly, the guac tasted like they added a little water since it was a tiny bit watery and not as thick as it is supposed to be. The pollo asado enchilada was full of taste and really spicy. Just didn't like how they give big pieces of chicken. Usually it is shredded chicken at other places. The chicken quesadilla was ok. Overall, their food is mediocre but portions are big. After the delivery guy calling into the restaurant a few times, I realized this situation had nothing to do with me as I had technically paid (what I thought the amount was). I wanted to make sure I tipped him but standing in my building hallway for 10 minutes trying to figure this out was annoying. As for the food, the rice was eh and the beans were too watery. The chicken, however, was not half bad and the green sauce was delish. The dish was not as good as I expected but not awful. It was more than I would expect for the amount of food I got. Would I order again, probably if I had rotisserie chicken itch that I needed to scratch. I would definitely order the horchata again and even stop by for it. It's the best I've had in a while. One of my friends is vegetarian and our server helped them customize a salad to meet their needs. My first friend ordered the Aguacate salad and had Salmon added. This place definitely went down hill. The yucca is so hard after countless times of asking them to make it soft I gave up and stopped ordering it. Ordered from them again tonight against my husband's objections. Whole rotisserie and 2 orders of rice and beans. I get that they're busy now because they are always rushing you off the phone but please get the order right at least. When the food came I immediately noticed no beans on either order of rice so I called them and lady on phone said she'd send some. My big problem with this place is the quality of the food has gone down. The chicken is over done and dry when it used to be moist and juicy and they charge a$1 more now The yucca is hard and dry when it used to be soft.
