    El malecon Restaurant

Small restaurant with seating available. Accepts walk-ins and smells delicious inside. They are pretty quick to serve you here. One of my favorite dishes is the fried chicken chunks, with a side of tostones and the garlic sauce on the side. I recommend stopping by when in the area.

More like Arroz NO Pollo. This is arroz con pollo.a pound of rice and MAYBE an ounce of chicken!!!! I am serious. Maybe they cut up a couple of wings and threw it in' This place is a joke

About 15 habichuelas to go with the pound of rice .

El Malecon fell short of my expectations on multiple levels . Level 1 : Their portioning is terrible . 15 habichuelas , paired pound of rice is ridiculous . To compound the issue , I Foolishly tipped for a carry out ! Level 2: Serving Old empanadas . My molars and canines were overworked trying to tear into these $1.50 empanadas . The meat inside was good I'll admit but the shell is all wrong . Level 3 : So the meal doesn't come with a side salad nor plantains which is about 50-50 when it comes to Dominican restaurants .Ok not a problem ,however, $3 for a couple plantains to accompany a meal is absurd . This place has a lot of potential nice large area , clean , extensive menu and the little bit of chicken and rice and beans meal was not bad .

Fast quality food at your fingertips. If you live in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, you guys are in for a treat. Nothing fancy just good food First time trying this place and I ordered their sancocho, small order of white rice and $5 worth of chicharron. Flavors on point. Will definitely come back to try other dishes again.

Looks better than it tastes. Trust.

Decided to try this restaurant out on Sunday. We stopped by for some dinner since I was too lazy to cook.. Which we realized was a horrible mistake since we left hungry and dissatisfied. I'm very familiar with good Spanish food and this was NOT it. The food didn't taste authentic. The sancocho didn't even look like sancocho. The pernil was dry as ever, and the tostones were sweet and not smashed as flat as they normally would be.. Only thing that tasted authentic was the bottled beer. Really sad, El Malecons grand opening should be a grand closing instead. PS: Don't let the picture I posted fool you. Because "Salt looks like Sugar"

I'm so happy this Spanish place came to my neighborhood. You don't understand , it reminds me of my homeland . This Dominican food spot is so good , fresh and a good price for the amount of food they offer. They just opened and i hope they're here to stay! The venue is opened space good for eating in with big family, with a bar on the side. It just your typical Dominican dinner that is but it's so unique around his neighborhood because they're is hardly one in bayridge because of the type of demographic there is over here. The best part about this place is not only the food but the amount they give with with that good price. I always get a plate of rice and pernil and a side included for only $8!! This SH** Cray ! This truly became my favorite spot

My god! Finally. Authentic Spanish food in bay ridge. Listen Don't get me wrong there are a few other spots that tout Spanish food. However we all know they cater to a certain clientele (tame Spanish food seekers!!) The spots around here for Spanish food have been tamed down for your average non-thrill seeker. This place finally does it right. The food they serve it is authentic and it's made with love. you can tell that it's all original family recipes. Prices are very reasonable for the area and the service is fantastic. Today I got to sample the Pernil, pigs feet (yes you need to try this if you want to be adventurous) some tripe soup, pink beans made with pork, as well as rotisserie chicken which is legit rotisserie chicken. Not baked chicken. The rice with beans is damn good and they have Mexican coke. Seriously the best food in the area. Come try them out and you'll leave wanting more.

This is one of my go-tos for a delicious and affordable meal. They have big family meals and their pernil is always moist. They have delicious empanadas and relleno de papa.

In my head and too so other places I've been to when you ask for a bulldog you get a nice big margarita glass with the bottle usually beer inside. Nope here they gave me a tiny glass with the cognac inside, no way you're calling that a bulldog and charging almost 20 for it. It was good but not justifiable at that size. I had this one drink and left. 3 stars maybe I'll try them again soon

That set the tone of attentive service, which continued throughout an exceptional meal in Bath Beach. This area is busy, in a locals doing their thing kind of way. It's a real neighborhood, and La Chacra is a great reason to check it out. We initially had decided on ordering the Combo La Chacra, which consists of a whole rotisserie chicken, yellow rice with red beans, an avocado salad, an order of salchipapas, and an order of maduros. We added an extra half chicken, and thought "that's a wrap". However, there was an appetizer special of thinly sliced octopus prepared Peruvian style that needed to be ordered too. The service was excellent. Not overwhelming, but just right. Dishes were cleared, napkins replaced, straw wrappers taken away as soon as they hit the table. It's not something that I'm used to writing about, but needed to be said. And then, the food. It was outstanding. Compared to both the basic, and the high end Peruvian restaurants that I've been to throughout the city, La Chacra is far and away the best. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and felt intentional. Nothing was just thrown on a plate. As full as we were, and we were quite full, there was no way that we were leaving without trying something from the desert menu. Another wise choice, as both the flan and the tres leche cake were fantastic. To wrap this one up, this spot is a solid five stars. The prices are very reasonable and the food, service, and charming atmosphere will have us returning soon.

"Bar" well we all know what that means, "vamos, vamos, vamos!" Since my first visit last year, I was hungry for more deliciousness and decided to go with Yelpie friend, Sharon for brunch. Bar Chuzo has the restaurant and bar attachment which is where we dined. I happen to like the bar room for dining, it's charming and quieter for a Sunday brunch. Bar Chuzo offers really nice Brunch selections from ceviche, salchipapas, tuna, steak and apps from delicious fries, calamari, crab, plantain chips, croquettes and so much more. Here's what we ordered: Apps- Plantain chips( dinamita !) with a side of salsa verde. Yuca Croquettes with Yuca, Chihuahua cheese, and uchucuta sauce( green herb chile sauce with nuts) Dinamita number two! Two different brunch menus, Menu 1 offers apps, sides, entrees, cocktails and desserts. Menu 2: Bottomless Brunch for 90 minutes choice of Margaritas for $35 or Mimosas for $30. Mains: Crab cake Benedict consists of sunny side up egg, crab cake, potato cake, uchucuta hollandaise sauce, crostini and Chuzo salad. Sharon enjoyed it very much.Dinamita number three. Chicken Chuzo: Brasa marinated chicken skewers, Andes Ecuadorian corn, yuca croquettes. There are two skewers with three pieces of chicken on each, scrumptious, loved the taste of the chicken, the croquettes ( yuca again) nice accompaniment and the corn was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend! Dinamita number four. Cocktail: Mango peach sangria hit the spot! Service: Gabriella is a great, professional and accommodating server. Absolutely wonderful and knows her stuff! Dinamita number five. There are delicious desserts as well but too full. The portions are generous and this meal for me was lunch/dinner. The vibe here is chill with Latin music seeping into your veins. 'Mis felicitaciones al personal!' ( my compliments to the staff). The wait staff was equally charming and attentive and we were directed to the QR code for the menu immediately. It was late afternoon so we opened the Happy Hour menu and it was surprisingly comprehensive. There were cocktails and specialty drinks all discounted for happy hour and a surprisingly large happy hour food menu. The cocktails were excellent (be sure to order a Crystal if you enjoy gin, or an espresso martini which my wife said was excellent) and we ordered Guacamole and chips and oysters which were à la carte and very reasonably priced. My wife doesn't care for oysters so I just ordered a couple for myself. They were beautifully presented on a bed of ice with a fresh lemon, a fresh spicy green mixture instead of horse radish and a sweet but spicy hot sauce. They were wonderful. The guacamole came with home made chips that were thick and well done so they held up to the guac very well. The guac was delicious and a bit chunkier than other places but the texture was wonderful with the thicker chips. For an entree, we chose Chuzos, skewered and grilled chunks of meat (chicken for my wife and NY Strip Steak for me) marinated and grilled to perfection. Both entrees came with large kernel corn which I had never tried before and yuca croquettes, also my first time. The corn was delicious but the kernels were a bit more like beans rather than the corn kernels you might be used to. The yuca croquettes were delicious and probably indistinguishable from potato croquettes in case you are worried you may not enjoy yuca. We actually finished neither entree and the kitchen packed our leftovers carefully for today's lunch (there was PLENTY left over). There was a nice dessert menu but we'll save that for another time. I cannot say enough good things about Bar Chuzo. The staff was friendly and attentive but not hovering or rushing. The food and cocktails were excellently prepared, reasonably priced but not cheap and the dining rooms were beautifully decorated. I will DEFINITELY be back to Bar Chuzo and if you haven't been, I urge you to check them out. You will not be disappointed.
