I was in Brooklyn during a brutal 17-degree weekend and waiting to check into my apartment hotel when we met an older Puerto Rican couple from Florida who had grown up in the area and were back visiting home. They told us we HAD to try Paneantico. Ended up being one of the best recommendations of the entire trip. Walking in on a Friday morning felt like stepping into a true neighborhood staple. The seating is tight and crowded, warm, lively, and homely. Union guys coming in and out, locals drinking coffee, and the whole place had that authentic old-school Brooklyn energy you hope to stumble into while traveling. Our waitress was amazing and honestly added so much to the experience. Super friendly, attentive, and had a heavy Brooklyn accent that somehow made the morning even better. We ordered hot oatmeal with fresh fruit and hot cocoa for the little one and she loved it. I got the grilled chicken, portobella, and fresh mozzarella hero with a cappuccino and a cannoli. Everything was fantastic, but the absolute star was their signature balsamic glaze that comes with the sandwich. Seriously unforgettable. It was so good that before flying back home, I came back one more time just to grab a slice of cheesecake and an Italian hero for the plane ride. I ordered a ham sandwich with mozzarella and sundried tomato. I drew the short end of the stick that day when they told me the focaccia was sold out, but they had ciabatta. It took a while for the sandwich to come out, but it was worth it. You can definitely portion this into two separate meals if you are not a big eater. The bread was toasty and fresh, and the ham and mozzarella were nicely portioned and paired with the tomatoes and balsamic vinegar. Good sandwich for a fair price. Sounds about Bay Ridge. read more

The breakfast platters here are massive enough to put you in a food coma while not being crazy expensive. The hero's are also top notch. Recently I went with the #B122 which was fried eggplant, fresh mozz, and roasted red peppers. You absolutely have to add balsamic glaze to make it complete and with the multiple bread choices you have I suggest you go with their brick oven hero bread. 10/10. This Italian bakery spoke my language- and I only got to the sweets and not even the savories yet. Can't wait to return! I got all my usuals - cannoli, pignola cookies, something difficult to pronounce, the crisp butter cookies with sprinkles, and more. There was a green muffin I threw in there too at the last minute. The rainbow cookies were incredible. I noticed they also have a rainbow cookie cheesecake which I would like to try next time. I hold steady on the platform from my previous review, about the food served being delicious, however, I've knocked one star off due to the horrible service. Granted, they do get busy sometimes; I've seen the ladies behind the counter juggle three, four customers at a time without breaking a sweat. However... We went there today for a late lunch (2:15pm) to dine al fresco. There were plenty of tables to choose from, both inside and out (a lull in the day). We alerted a waitress that we were there for patronage, and we had a seat. The waitress came out with menus and silverware, and gave us some time. Then some more time. Then... some more time.... At 2:35pm, twenty minutes after being handed menus, and no one had stopped by the table to even take our "drink order", let alone "meal order". We really wanted to eat one of their sandwiches, so we were trying to be as patient as possible. We said "Five more minutes - If she doesn't come by within five minutes, let's go.". Five minutes came and went, so we packed up and left. My man alerted the waitress that he didn't appreciate being ignored, and we took off. Again, fantastic food but their wait staff needs either better training or better supervision. We waited 25 minutes to try to place an order. I'm not so sure we'll be going back. Paneantico is a neighborhood staple. Classic Italian baked goods, sandwiches and coffees. There's a large selection of everything. This place is always packed with locals. I love coming here for cookie platters for parties and it's a good place to pick up premade pizza dough. The chai latte are some of the best I've had in the neighborhood. I find the pastries to be more on the bready side than flaky. The outdoor dining area does have wait service so you can sit outside and avoid the line. Indoors the place is always packed and I find service to be a bit slow. There always seems to be people here day and night so it's a great meeting spot. read more

I took my husband and my family for breakfast at Paneantico this morning and the husband made an observation on how light the coffee was, and instead of the waitress saying, "how can I help you or would you like your coffee darker?, she stated in her loud voice for everyone to hear and gesturing with her hands in our faces" I don't make the coffee, I just serve it" What terrible customer service!! After telling the manager that the waitress needed to work on her delivery, he said, "she has 15 tables to serve, citing with her and not even apologizing for the bad moment with had! We stop in here often on Saturday mornings to pick up some pastries and other sweet treats, although we have yet to dine in (definitely on our list though!). I love that there is outside seating as an option and I think it would be perfect for when we bring our kids. The bakery is on the corner and provides so much to see for my boys. The bakery is small but well maintained and everyone seems really nice. On our last visit, we spent under $22 for a large lobster tail, 2 large cannolis (1 regular and 1 chocolate), a slice of Oreo cheesecake and a slice of the strawberry shortcake. I thought the prices are fair, and we've yet to dislike anything we've ordered. My husband also loves the blueberry cheesecake from past visits as well. I really wanted to go to Pegasus diner on 86 st and 3 ave although they had a 25 minute wait. After this experience I should have waited there. Paneantico did a great job here expanding the outside seating. Everyone was nice no complaints. There were a few things that were just out of sorts. They used paper plates and plastic utensils. No plates or silverware. It's not very convenient to cut pancakes with a small plastic knife and fork. Oh yes the cups were plastic too:) Prices are reasonable although the breakfast menu lists Blueberry pancakes for $7.95 and we were charged $11.95. When we asked they showed us this little sticker on the front of the menu that said that due to COVID prices have changed. Some remain the same. They said they were waiting for updated menus??? So that means they can charge what ever they want? I am not one to quibble on price, it's the principle. I don't think the Department of Consumer Affairs would agree with that. The food was ok, ordered Blueberry pancakes you get 3 average size ones. No complaints. Ordered the Joe omelette which was just ok, it was not served hot. The presentation on a paper plate was horrible. See the photos. When I cool an omelette at home they look much better. Our waitress was nice, everything was clean. Review based on my indoor dining experience. Went in with my family in the afternoon. I saw some delicious looking pizzas I wanted to try out and was on line while my family sat down. After waiting for my turn, I told the employee working the counter I would like to get some pizzas. She asked if it was to go or for indoors and I told her indoors. Today is my mom's 35th birthday (for the 2nd time)! She absolutely loves Strawberry Shortcake! Normally, I get the 8-inch for her, but we were having lots of company to celebrate this milestone birthday. I pre-ordered yesterday for today. I asked for something that would feed 20 to 30 people, and the young lady behind the counter went and asked the baker for a recommendation. She was super sweet and helpful! She said the baker recommended a 14-inch cake. I'm thinking it's like a half pan size, so I'm like, ok, sounds good to me! My husband was running late to pick up, so I called in to let them know. They told me the price, and I was a little caught off guard. Normally, the 8-inch round is $25. They quoted me $85. I hung up, thought about it, and called back. I asked for the manager because I couldn't wrap my head around the price. I'm thinking it's like a 14 by 7 rectangle. I spoke to Stephanie, the manager, and she's trying to explain the pricing to me. I'm not getting it, so I asked her to send me a picture. She does, and I realize why the cake isn't like $50. This gargantuan beauty is AT LEAST the size of 4 of the mini cakes, so I'm actually getting a deal! Stephanie is patient with me all the way. She's wonderful! My husband brings the cake home, and everyone is like, "What the freak?!" But mom loved it, so now we told her she's gotta eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the next 3 days!
