    Baked ziti
    Marina F.

I got the three cheese baked ziti. It was okay, but I felt like it could be saucier. It had loads of garlic in it, but it definitely wasn't sautéed enough. It felt like I had raw pieces of garlic in each bite. It was just okay. The person I was with got the fried flounder wrap. I feel like it should have come with something-fries, chips, salad. The plate just looked incomplete. We sat for awhile waiting for our check. We didn't know what happened to our waitress so we had to ask someone else for our check after we were waiting for so long. When we left, our waitress was just coming back in the restaurant so she must have been on break or something, but there was no one there to cover our table or refill our waters.

OHHH My goodness! the noise, the crowd, the pushing you would think they were giving something away for moms and babies my daughter and I needed the kosher so there is Spoons I am not sure I get the name but its cute they have their register counter right up at the front door, so when you come in you need to walk past it which is a bottle neck right there people waiting to pay, people waiting to order, people just standing there waiting for their friend to get her purse. filled with moms and screaming babies I don't get it, and I have multiple kids what kind of nice lunch includes screaming kids? not mine small tables so your right on top of your neighbor slow but friendly service why did I give this place 4 stars? clearly ONLY because of the food nice fresh tasty ceaser salad good muffins its hard to find good kosher the food here is good

My first time at Spoons but it will not be my last!! For a tiny little cafe, their sushi was exceptionally fresh, creative and delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the manager Shebah. The selections of coffees and tea are very good. I tasted the espresso and opted for a simple iced latte I had 3 Sushi rolls and each were winners. I especially liked the one with jallipenos. A real winner here. Footnote: Went back the next morning for breakfast. Another great meal. I like my cappuccino dry, so they gave me the shots in a mug and brought me a mug of foam. Perfect!! I had a delicious omelet and made plans for my next part of my vacation. Li and behold it was 11:30 so I decided to take some of their yummy sushi to go. I ate it when I got to Queens and it was just the thing I will always return to Spoons when I visit Borough Park!

AVACADO - FRESH - PANINI - (EYES BULGING) (TASTEBUDS TINGLING) Spoons is an awesome Kosher restaurant on Avenue J in Brooklyn. Since my office has moved from Manhattan to the last stop on the 5 train in Brooklyn (depression). There is nothing around but Kosher restaurants and Kosher restaurants. I was told by some of my coworkers that SPOONS had the best sushi in the area and that just turned me even more off because the sound of raw anything was never appealing to me. Coming here for lunch one day I decided to order the avocado Panini. --that didn't sound appealing either (I am a straight carnivore) but I didn't want to let my coworkers down because I hardly go out with them (off topic). The Panini was the freshest thing I ever had the pleasure of consuming. Who would have thought that two pieces of bread with no meat in the middle could be the most delicious thing I have ever tasted! It was served with a side of ginger and a small yet pleasing salad. My order would have been only 6.95 but my assertive yet persuasive coworkers forced me to try a piece of their Alaska roll. AVACADO - FRESH - SUSHI - (EYES BULGING) (TASTEBUDS TINGLING) Long story short... I am in love with sushi now! My bill came out to 13.50, a little pricey for lunch but oh soooo worth it. The staff are 100% sweethearts. It does get crowded in there around lunch time but you can always take it to go if you don't want to sit and wait. Overall, I am asking that you give this Spoons a try. I can't vouch for any other location.

I only get a chance to come here when I'm in NY. I love the fast and friendly service. Food is always excellent and never a long wait. Place is always crowded but always.clean. I've tried their paninis and it's always incredible, the soup the rolls and their salad are always tasty. The price is very reasonable as well.

As I walk in, the friendly lady behind the counter asks me what I would like. I respond: A cappuccino please. Then, I carefully inquire further for what baked goods are available with a smile. In her reply, she tells me sadly that there is only croissants. So not being picky, I tell her: Great, I'll have one. Next, she brings me a cappuccino on a glass saucer and my croissant on a dish. Also, there are numerous napkins, sugar, long stemmed spoon given to me as well. I felt like a sports lounge vibe with many tables and chairs (probably enough to seat 35 people at least). Most demographic would be elders, mostly men, in their 40's to 60's kicking back and enjoying the hot, lazy afternoon. It was around 3 pm and I just got off a flight. I found the service impolite and dismissive. And the coffee pod, yes a COFFEE POD AT A CAFÉ is outrageous. Well aside from me noticing a bit to late to stop the process I watched her make it and seen the liquid coming out beige at best. I actually thought she was running a cleaning of the machine, because the color just wasn't the color even a blond roast would be. I mentioned it looked light, to which she replied it's not light it's black coffee it's dark. Well I took my sip, left a dollar tip and left the coffee on the counter. With the myriad of cafes in Brooklyn these days, I would have been better with mud from the bodega.

I ordered the Journey to Baku salad, the Turkish bread, and the Guru Khingal. The salad needed a pinch of salt, but there was a shaker on the table and with that addition, it was a decent refreshing appetizer. It's sort of a spread so I would recommend ordering some bread to eat with it. The bread came out steaming hot and smelling amazing. It was soft and fluffy on the inside and delicious. I took the extra home and ate it all immediately when I got there. Delicious bread. The Guru Khingal is honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten in New York City. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, as I have never eaten this type of food before. The tender, handcut pasta seems to be layered with flavorful lamb fat like the most decadent possible buttered noodles and the ground lamb topping is rich and perfectly seasoned. The yogurt sauce gives the dish balance. It's a fairly large portion that could easily be shared between two. I highly recommend this spot, the glowing reviews are not exaggerating at all. I often like to try new and unusual restaurants, and sometimes I enjoy them mostly for the novelty. That was not the case at Village Cafe. My meal here was delicious and I am eager to return, even with the 75 minute commute from north Brooklyn.

I felt like I was inside someone's home and felt welcomed and comfortable. Not loud and well lit. Service (5/5): We came at an off hour during the weekend around 1:30pm there was still around 6 parties dining in. The staff provided good recommendations and good service. When asked for water without any lemon slices, they provided bottled water at no extra cost! Food: (4/5) - rated New York Times top 100 Best Restaurants in New York City in 2025 Every dish came with a small cup of sour cream / Tzatziki based sauce that went with every dish. This was a must and this was mastered very well. Kutaby with chicken and lamb (4/5) - we ordered one each but the lamb was far superior than the chicken. Guru Hingal (4/5) - served in a warmed bowl with a lid in a bed of soft pasta and minced lamb. The pasta reminded me of chow fun (Chinese rice flat noodles) and then some seasoned minced lamb. While overall there were flavors in there, it was still lacked flavors and required to be drowned in the Tzatziki sauces or perhaps a order of table hot sauce. Finally we got the Lamb Lulya Kebab (5/5): this was by far the best dish of the meal! The meat was so wonderfully seasoned throughout, juicy, and complemented well with the rice, onions, and tomato based dip. The wraps themselves were way too small to enjoy using hands so we definitely reconstructed on our plates and attempts with our hands.

It's the original Lady M - layers of crepes clearly stacked with copious amounts of butter.
