Rum Punch

This was our first time visiting Mount Dora and we found ourselves drawn into Las Palmas by the menu and cool vibes. We sat inside because it was a hot day but would have loved to sit outside. Las Palmas is on a corner of the Main Street and there is outside seating on both streets of the corner. Everyone was friendly but a server was fantastic! The drinks were freshly made and delicious. The rum punch was too good! The Cuban bread was served with a cilantro sauce and garlic butter. Both were delicious on the freshly grilled bread. Our meals were hearty and delicious.

Perfect place to enjoy homemade style Cuban food in Mt. Dora. Customer service is great and staff is very helpful and friendly. Seating can be tight if dining with a large party and the dining room is busy. Seating is comfortable and there are also tables outside for those interested! Highly recommend this Latina restaurant when visiting this lovely town!

Food was okay. We went during the Christmas tree lighting event, it was very busy during that time. Service was slow.

This restaurant has great food and is very consistent. There are several great choices for appetizers, drinks and entrees. My daughter likes the chicken mofongo. And I like the shredded pork that comes covered with onions and comes two sides. I had black beans, yellow rice and plantains. The food comes out promptly and hot. The passion fruit mojoito and Pina colada were excellent. Good service, great food, good portions and if you sit by the window it is good view of the visitors. We have been here several times and will come back.

Cuban Sandwich with Fries

I got a chance to come in after work and sit at the bar. They have all the Cuban seats and decor all over the restaurant. I ordered a tall Modelo Especial. That ice cold mug with Modelo Especial hit the spot. I ordered a Cuban Sandwich and Fries. Like always, the Cuban Sandwich and Fries are great. I didn't leave anything behind. The service was good. This is my favorite Cuban restaurant to come to near home. Until next time!

Wanted Cuban flavor and boy did we get it! From Cuban burger sandwich to garlic shrimp it was really delicious service was good and restaurant ambiance/decor was colorful and vibrant. Bathrooms could use an update though. Other than that it was pretty good.

We were immediately seated when we arrived at the restaurant. Prices and portions are really good. I ordered a sangria and the churasco steak. I enjoyed the drink and food. Server was very helpful and friendly.

One of our favorites so we come here a lot. My favorite items to order are the mango margarita , cafe con leche, ropa vieja, and flan! Tonight we all order items to share ( minus the wine of course because yea... no! lol ) Cuban sandwich was delicious per usual, tostones were full of flavor and my first time ordering the mofongo. Not my favorite but it was flavorful and a huge portion. My bestie is Cuban and she enjoyed it more than me so that's a big plus . Love this traditional Cuban decor through out the restaurant. It's a nice chill place and service is good.

I've been to this restaurant on several occasions with my wife, friends and family and the food never disappoints! From the small Cuban breads with sauces to the delicious cocktails, it's always great! The atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a small town Cuban restaurant. Service could be a little better since we tried to order additional sides but the waitress only came by once. Despite that we recommend this place if you're looking for some delicious Cuban food!

We love the food & drink at Las Palmas! So much so that we occasionally drive about 45 minutes to eat here. The restaurant setup inside is a little crowded but comfortable. There are Cuban posters and decorations which sets a nice scene. The service is just okay. We love the Cuban bread starter that is passed when you are seated. My favorite meal is the picadillo!

Amazing Cuban food. Mount Dora is blessed with a place like this that makes excellent Cuban sandwiches and sandwiches from the Caribbean. The ambience is extremely attractive with all kinds of memorabilia of Cuba before Castro. If you come here, ask for Camilo to serve you. The decor they have in this restaurant is unique with all their chairs having been carved wood by a craftsman. What a wonderful experience both Julie and Camilo gave us. If you are in Mount Dora at any time you must come to Las Palmas Restaurant.

We stopped in for dinner and was pleasantly surprised at our nice the inside is. Our server was lovely. Her name was Shiloh. My tostado salad was filled with meat and black beans. Yum. My husband order a Cuban sandwich. His favorite. Said it was delicious. What can be so bad. Good service. Good food.

Stopped here for drinks after having lunch down the hill. Sat at the bar and was served immediately. We ordered two 24oz of Heineken on draft. $10 for one 24oz is definitely worth it. The restaurant also smells amazing! We're going to dine in next time!

Driving back to Georgia after a visit to the mouse and wanting to limit our exposure to the I-4…read moretraffic, we drove through the charming town of Mount Dora. There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

My sister had the prime dip and I went for the turkey brie - both were delicious and super satisfying. Service was great too - everyone was friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. The drinks were priced great and the soup and burgers were so good! But I went 01/10/2026 at 230pm (busy rush for a pub on a Saturday) and I ordered a burger and soup because they have a soup of the day each day, who doesn't love that. Well my soup came out quick and I was pleased with that, it was chicken orzo soup, so good! Well I start getting to the soup and thought oh wow they put cheese in here, didn't tell me it would have cheese and I'm rubbing it around in my mouth cause I like to taste my food you know? Well it wasn't cheese...... IT WAS SOMEONES CHEWED MINTY GUM IN MY MOUTH STUCK IN MY TEETH I got sick (in a napkin of course) and informed my server, ran to the bathroom some more getting sick and when I came back my server informed me I wouldn't pay for anything, I made a comment that maybe the dishwasher didn't do a good job but the server told me he wish that was the case that it was intended for an employee on break and he thought it was mine in the window and it wasn't, he apologized, well I took a couple shots of whiskey to kill the bacteria hopefully. I asked for a manger to come talk to me because I work in the food industry and I don't feel it was handled correctly, he informed me the manger was not there he had to text her to get the approval for the bill. So I was definitely taken back. I have never had anything like this happen to me and the two girls I was with also tasted the soup because I said it didn't taste right and they was literally given a bill for their 15$ burgers and I got a 10% card to hopefully come back. I have called twice to talk to a manger and have not gotten through to anyone, I've seen messages online to suspected owners and still nothing back, I was told the guy with the gauges in the kitchen is the one that did it, I woken up with a sore throat today and will be going to get tested and they will be informed of my medical bills by a lawyer. PS my friend ordered a burger Togo a few hours later for her aunt I went in to get the burger and pay with my 10% card and the short haired short server with glasses was seen laughing at the computer about the situation, I just don't think it was funny at all.

The food was all freshly cooked and not overdone at all. We each got the Thursday special which has 1 lb snow crab and 1/2 lb headless shrimp. We both added sausage and a lobster tail to our meals and I added 1/2 lb of blue crab to try. (It is a celebration after all!) Everything was Very flavorful and cooked to perfection! Obviously we both had plenty left for another meal (or two!) The people that work here were very nice and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. This was just the perfect meal for our celebration and am hoping to go back again soon!

WARNING: Be cautious when ordering the raw oysters, here. The server had a "I don't give a F…read moreattitude" when I had my first bite of half-dozen raw oysters. The one oyster I started to bite into was the WORST tasting I've had in a long time. It was gritty and tasted like it had died, before it was caught. I asked the server to let the manager or cook know this, as I was concerned for other customers' safety. She gave this look like it was me who was the problem. No manager bothered to come to our table, to ask me about it, either. She also scoffed at my reaction when she said that the Alaskan King Crabs market price went up to $92 / lb - which I thought was way overpriced for a place like Red Crab. So, I got the snow crab legs, which were excellent, as well as the boiled potatoes. The generous amount of butter had an off-putting flavor, but still went well with the crab legs. The corn on the cob sucked, as it was soggy, from clearly being kept in a warming oven or pot for too long. The cheesecake was small, but really good, although I did have to ask about desserts when the server was ready to give us the check. She was also slow in bringing out the dessert and updating our check, but nicer towards the end of the dinner. This is about the 5th time I've been to Red Crab - and just this location. They need to work on food quality consistency, better training on the servers, and take seriously when a customer nicely complains about raw oysters, that don't taste fresh and clean.
