Had a late lunch on a weekday while exploring the Mt. Dora downtown area. When I arrived, clearly the lunch rush was coming to an end, so I got to sit in the corner. Asked for a water immediately, and set my things down before going to the restroom... which was clean, easy to find, and well stocked, so zero issues there! Hehehe..... When I returned, I had a water and the bar menu as well as the lunch menu waiting for me. I ended up getting the Crooked Can/Frog and Monkey collaboration IPA, which was lovely. I ordered the turkey and brie sandwich, because reading it on the menu outside was what had originally drawn me into the restaurant, and a cup of the French Onion soup rather than getting the fries that came with. The soup was up first, and it was delightful- nice, hardy chunks of onion without being too big/sliding off my spoon, a well developed broth, and a fantastic amount of cheese. The sandwich was lovely, great slices of turkey and decently sized pieces of brie and apple to go along with it. Unfortunately, when I went to get the second half of my sandwich, I noticed what looked like a dark beard hair on it.... as I was dining alone, and my long hair was tied up, definitely not mine. I called over my server, and I pointed it out to her... she asked if I wanted to have a new sammie or get it taken off the bill. I asked if I could pay for the soup, since I had finished it, but not the sammie and she absolutely agreed to that. I wrapped up my meal and left to keep going on my day. Everywhere has issues occasionally, but this was handled well, so I will mention it, and I do knock off a star for this visit, but I am still willing to try again if I am in the area. read more

Spent a sisters weekend in Mount Dora and had to try out The Frog and the Monkey and so glad we did Perfect spot for bar eats... burgers, wings, salads, all the good stuff. My sister had the prime dip and I went for the turkey brie - both were delicious and super satisfying. Service was great too - everyone was friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. There is a parking lot right next to the restaurant, super convenient. The place is cozy and has a nice size bar area. Definitely recommend if you're in the area! read more

Became here randomly after being told to check out the Lamberger and it didn't disappoint. Happy hour has a great selections of appetizers and drinks. I enjoyed the wings and brussels sprouts. I like how it's like you're entering the basement of a pub this definitely seems like the kind of atmosphere that I would love to watch a sports game at wow hanging out with friends. We popped into this spot for a quick bite on our first night in Mount Dora drawn in by the mysterious back-alley entrance that made it feel like a secret find. Sadly, the adventure ended there. The basement bar had a bit of that Cheers vibe, but the food? More like Jeers. We have been to The Frog & Monkey several times but it has been a couple of years. This past weekend we brought friends there for lunch and while we loved it before, this time was less great. The first concerning issue was when my Mom wanted to order off of the kids menu, she was denied. At her age, she eats very little and typical adult or full portions is a waste of food. Because of this, we shared something, and that was Fish and Chips ($19). The fish was pretty perfect. Crisp and not oily. The second concerning things...The chips, were extremely salty. A little bit of salt goes a long way, and this amount took us into next week. My husband ordered a bowl of French Onion Soup($7) which was also quite heavily salted. Service was fine, the restaurant was steadily busy and the noise level was just fine. While this wasn't our best experience we will likely return and just make sure to request low to no salt. read more

Yummy, fun place! It was recommended by someone in the area. Fun, English pub vibes and quirky decor to look at. The waitress was very sweet, upbeat, attentive and had great recommendations. The food was tasty and very large portions for the price. Despite being a smaller establishment and not particularly geared for kids, the Frog and Monkey had a nice children's menu and accommodations for a toddler. Nice menu selections to choose from, there was somethingfor everyone. So I went to the frog and money once and loved it I traveled with friends over an hour that was ranting about it and I decided to go back with the same friends ! The drinks were priced great and the soup and burgers were so good! But I went 01/10/2026 at 230pm (busy rush for a pub on a Saturday) and I ordered a burger and soup because they have a soup of the day each day, who doesn't love that. Well my soup came out quick and I was pleased with that, it was chicken orzo soup, so good! Well I start getting to the soup and thought oh wow they put cheese in here, didn't tell me it would have cheese and I'm rubbing it around in my mouth cause I like to taste my food you know? Well it wasn't cheese...... IT WAS SOMEONES CHEWED MINTY GUM IN MY MOUTH STUCK IN MY TEETH I got sick (in a napkin of course) and informed my server, ran to the bathroom some more getting sick and when I came back my server informed me I wouldn't pay for anything, I made a comment that maybe the dishwasher didn't do a good job but the server told me he wish that was the case that it was intended for an employee on break and he thought it was mine in the window and it wasn't, he apologized, well I took a couple shots of whiskey to kill the bacteria hopefully. I asked for a manger to come talk to me because I work in the food industry and I don't feel it was handled correctly, he informed me the manger was not there he had to text her to get the approval for the bill. So I was definitely taken back. I have never had anything like this happen to me and the two girls I was with also tasted the soup because I said it didn't taste right and they was literally given a bill for their 15$ burgers and I got a 10% card to hopefully come back. I have called twice to talk to a manger and have not gotten through to anyone, I've seen messages online to suspected owners and still nothing back, I was told the guy with the gauges in the kitchen is the one that did it, I woken up with a sore throat today and will be going to get tested and they will be informed of my medical bills by a lawyer. PS my friend ordered a burger Togo a few hours later for her aunt I went in to get the burger and pay with my 10% card and the short haired short server with glasses was seen laughing at the computer about the situation, I just don't think it was funny at all. read more

Enter Sam G., a lovely young lady server who made my girlfriend and my meal memorable. Some people are firing on all cylinders AND have a social grace that makes them exceptional servers. Server by the way is not a diminutive title for me. There are few people who can get it right and few people that can outshine the food and ambiance. Sam did! Back in Mt Dora for just one night. I had lunch here on my way out and it was great. On a recommendation from the bartender, I ordered the fish and chips, they were great! The fish was a giant hunk of fresh fish lightly battered with beer and flour, and served with what I felt was more of a garlic aioli than a tartar sauce but it was delicious! I had a (couple of a) local hazy IPA from local brewery Crooked Can Brewing and they were just the treat after a mission accomplished trip to FL. These were again a suggestion based on my ask for something local with hops. I've been to Mt Dora a few times now and I feel like I will be coming back to this place next time I am here. Cool underground restaurant in Mount Dora serving up Irish pub vibes, huge burgers, and tasty drinks. Stopped by on 11/12 for a late lunch. The restaurant was jam packed with most tables and bar seats filled. There were many waitresses, all who seemed to be busy tending to their tables. After waiting a couple minutes to be seated by the stairs we had to go up to the waitress area to ask to be seated. We were then quickly shown to our table. Our waitress was very attentive and we experienced quick service even given how busy the restaurant was. She even gave us recommendations for the seasonal specialty drinks! Food- We ordered The Goat Burger and the Lamb Burger. As a whole, the goat burger with the wagyu beef patty, goat cheese, and caramelized onions was delicious! Such a great burger, it held up well, and was cooked to the desired temp (medium). The lamb burger had a very flavorful lamb meat patty however the crispy onions became soggy and the cheese wasn't entirely melted. The bacon jam added a nice sweetness. Overall, it was a good burger but the Goat Burger was the favorite! Both burgers had unripe tomatoes which were a bit hard and green in the middle.. wish they were a bit more ripe. The fries were nicely seasoned. Drinks- We ordered the white and red fall sangria. Both were delicious although we favored the red fall sangria most. It was nicely spiced and tasted stronger than the white sangria. We ordered a second red sangria which tasted different than the first. It was more carbonated/sweet but once we told our waitress she was adamant on getting it fixed so that we could enjoy it. The drink she brought back was similar to the first! read more

Their burgers are very interesting. I had the cheddar bacon burger with onion straws. So big I could only eat half. I requested it Medium, but it was definitely Well. It was a little loud for conversation and service was a little slow, considering it was a Monday night and not that busy while we were there. Not a lot of choices on a Monday. This place was pretty neat! It's not too often that you step down into a restaurant in Florida, and it felt like stepping into a cozy London pub. Right in the heart of downtown Mount Dora, it was a cozy stop on a fall afternoon. Their fish and chips were really delicious- just the right amount of breading and not too oily. We had the beer battered 'shroons which were good, made there and not frozen. I had the Aloha burger and fries. Fries were also made fresh and were good. I liked the burger, but probably wouldn't order it again. The pineapple wasn't really something I could taste and the pork was thick and only covered 1/3 of the burger. It just wasn't what I expected. Our server was good. They offer a code so you can pay from your phone which is always great. read more
