You're not going to get amazing food or an upscale/ memorable dining experience; however, it was a good location for a quick bite of bar and entertainment. This is a cute bar in downtown Tavares. Inside seating and a bar section as well as a large covered patio with an outdoor bar. Live music and a view of the lake. Our server Mindy was great. Had a delicious pear cider (ugh 200 calories though). My burger was cooked well and loaded with mushrooms. The fries are above average too. Limited menu but good options. read more

Staff was very friendly and attentive, the food was not so good. Both orders of French fries were uneatable they were stuck together and full of oil on the inside. We came in for an early dinner today, the 4th of July, and the waitress brought us a special holiday menu. I explained to her that my husband was on a keto diet, meaning almost no carbs, and I saw no sides that worked with his diet. I asked if he could just get a small house salad for an upcharge, as we had no problem paying extra for the accommodation. The waitress was perfectly fine with it, but she said she had to ask the kitchen. Since restaurants are normally happy to work with him, I didn't figure there'd be an issue, but I was wrong. Our waitress was told that was the menu, no deviations allowed. We were surprised they were willing to lose business over it, especially when they had big salads on the menu, which meant they had the ingredients to do it. We ended up walking over to Puddle Jumpers, where they were more than happy to work with my husband. read more

Stopped here for lunch with neighbors boating on the lake. It is more bar than grill. We ate on the outside covered deck/bar and were a bit put off with the smokers at the bar. We moved closer to the open area of the patio. Three of us ordered mushroom Swiss burgers, mine mediocre rare, one medium well and one well done. All three come out medium well. I am not going to reorder and wait while everyone else is eating and finally get a redone burger, if the cook could even do it righ. The boneless buffalo wings were great, based upon one in our party ordering them. The fish tacos were run of the mill. We do not plan on going back real soon. read more

I have eaten at Ruby Street Grille a couple of times, but those visits were a few years ago and I don't remember much beyond that it was okay. But I just went back there and found that the server was friendly and efficient. We sat in the back that is outside but still in the shade. I went with a light lunch of a bowl of chili and an order of seasoned fries. The chili was very good, not quite as much ground beef as I prefer, but very tasty. And I somehow expected the seasoned French fries to have a crunchy coating like some restaurants offer, but their version just had a dusting of Bay seasoning on them. But they were hot and tender inside, and it was a generous portion for just $3, so that was fine. If you get a soda and don't have a free refill, ask them and they will let you have a takeout refill. In fact, our server offered it to two people in our party. So I am willing to go back and will want to try a burger next time. read more

Live music and the best wings in the Triangle... maybe Lake County. They're fried and not breaded which makes them true original Buffalo wings. Our server Chrissy is so friendly and incredibly good at being a server. She's on top of it and provides excellent service! We have lived in Tavares for 4 years and finally tried Ruby Street Grill and was wondering why we haven't before. The food was delicious! We were able to sit outside on the deck and bring our dog - which they give you a water bowl for. They have a TV over the bar so we were able to watch the Mets Game AND view the jet ski event at Wooten park which was an added bonus. My husband really enjoyed the fish with rice and beans (in place of fries) I really liked the buffalo chicken wrap and highly recommend the seasoned fries over the plain. I love Ruby Street Grill They seem to have different things going on every night, from Big Bands to Karaoke. The staff are very friendly and attentive, the food is good, but the best part is sitting out on the patio on the lake- it's reminiscent of Key West. They have 4 different areas- the outside patio under the sky, an under-roof outdoor bar/dining area, a small and intimate indoor bar area with a couple of tables and a nice romantic dining room. They also have nice artwork adorning the walls. Great ambiance on the inside as well! read more

What a GREAT stop while in this lovely part of Florida! The weather couldn't have been any better, and the outside deck to sit and enjoy lunch was just what the Doctor ordered (Spring Break Doctor that is!). You can tell these people love food - the blackened scallops were a nice light bite. My husband is from Buffalo (so is the owner of Ruby Street Grille), and their Beef on Weck was excellent! Paired that with a couple of Ice Picks (ask a fellow Buffalo friend what that drink is), and we had ourselves a delicious and relaxing lunch visit. Tried this place despite the reviews because some people have different experiences and different taste buds. Came in from the splash park to order some food and a drink. Upon ordering my food I was told the 2 kids mini cheese burgers don't come with any extras(lettuce, tomato etc..) and I would be charged if I got that on the side. The server .. young female.. came to take drink orders.. brought our drinks then took off for 20 minutes. I went to the bar to see where she went as I thought she was outside talking to her friend. She was just coming out of the kitchen and came to take our orders.. the Turkey blt was missing the Turkey.. the tuna melt was awesome.. both blt's were good and the bbq pork was good. The French fries.. all ordered crisp.. tasted like dirty fish fryer oil. We needed extra napkins and got up and got them ourselves since we lost our server again. She NEVER came back to ask if we needed anything.. worst server ever who could benefit with server etiquette. I'm leaving no stars. My mom, niece, sister, and myself stopped in for dinner and they not one order that they brought us was right. To start, our server was too busy to serve us, so we had another girl servicing out table that "wasnt our server" anfcontinually made that point. The menus were moldy, and smelled pretty terrible. Burgers were ordered med rare and were grossly overcooked. Wrong cheeses were on the burgers and in my chicken wrap. Also, burgers were ordered no lettuce, tomato, onion...and they were all on the burgers. And, we had to get our own silverware from the server station. We asked to speak to the manager, but he was too busy to see us... and when he finally did, he said the waitresses never told him we wanted to speak to him. WILL AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!! read more

Service and view are very nice. Food, not so much. We dined here because it has a nice deck looking out at Lake Monroe and was perfect for our family of four. The view is blocked by a parking lot and street but you can still see the water and are only a stone's throw from Wooton Park. Service was friendly and quick. As Billy N. said, Chrissy did a great job and was perfectly happy and bubbly as she went about her job. Food and drink were a disappointment. First, a place like this should have a better beer selection. They have your typical crap beers like Bud, Miller, etc. and only two that were drinkable. It would be great to try some craft brews while sitting on the deck enjoying a sunset. Happy hour/drink specials would be nice too. The food selection looks promising but lacks execution. My burger was overcooked and underseasoned and the "seasoned fries" were just frozen/fried crinkle cut. The meal was absolutely not worth the calories. I have given this restaurant quiet a few attempts. The kitchen staff apparently has not a clue as to what they are doing, let alone the menu has stayed the same for years. If you want a well versed menu, bring someone in with experience, not ones who come outside and smoke or sit at the bar and drink in between cooking food. The fries are never cooked or seasoned properly... either burnt or undercooked every time. For servers.... let's just say not a single one has a personality or knows what they are doing. Ate here with my family and brother and sister-in-law over our spring break. I give the atmosphere 4 stars. Nice outdoor patio for eating and drinking. Indoor eating area was rather drab. My wife and I both had the Ruby burger with seasoned fries. My daughter had the grilled cheese and fries. I would give the food 4 stars. It was good, decently priced, and arrived fast and of adequate temperature. I've had better, but I've also had worse! Happy hour drink prices were also adequate. Draft beer selection was minimal. Can't believe I forgot this location! On the water. Oldies music super friendly service with hot waitresses. :) Its right in the heart of downtown Tavares and you can fly your plane there, park, and walk a block to lunch. Huge portions, and lots of options. Seasoned fries, mixed green salads, and a full bar. This area of Tavares is like Burbon Street in New Orleans. You can walk from bar to bar to bar with your open container. read more

This place has a great atmosphere. There is a nice view of the lake if you sit on the back patio. The food is good enough (although only tried apps: calamari, nachos, spinach and artichoke dip and chicken lettuce wraps). Much better tasting than most bar-food. The calamari was surprisingly good, the nachos were huge and hit the spot, the lettuce wraps were tasty. The spinach and artichoke dip wasn't that great. But my biggest complaint would be about the bar itself. They offer garbage as far as beer on tap, and not much more when it comes to the bottles. I believe they offer 11 beers total, maybe fewer, and the only import I can recall was Heineken. The service you get is the same as the service you get at a bar/restaurant. Went back to Ruby Street with some good friends. Service was immediate this time. We had Turkey Sandwiches, Pizza, and Fish n Fries. Everyone was very satisfied with their food, I had the fish, it was cooked correctly, not to heavy, no bad taste or smell through the whole filet. Guessing it was a third of a pound. Good sized portion. Drinks were generous. Price was good too. Waitress was by our table, guessing more than 8 times to check on us (Tarah?) . It was a busy night and the servers weren't heavy on their feet. Rest of the details. Tidy outside, clean inside. No sign of critters. Restroom layout is very good with room for those with younger kids. I was looking for folks who had not been served. I didn't see any. We arrived at 8 PM, so we hit a peak time. read more
