I really wanted to love this place! Myself, my mom and my grandma went here for the mad hatter themed pop up that's happening. When we arrived, there was one table left in the bar side, which had enough for 6 people. We asked if we could just grab that spot and the hostess had to go speak to the manager. She came back and informed us that we could not sit there, but instead in the adjacent restaurant (same menu) or the bar (my grandma is in a wheelchair), or wait but that it might be over an hour. Since we were a group of 3 we asked if we could split that table into 2 so we wouldn't use it all, additionally, we had driven over an hour for the pop up and really wanted to be in the themed area, but they insisted that they had to keep it open for any potential larger party that would come after us. My question is... couldn't that larger party that *might* come sit in the adjacent restaurant? We were after the lunch hour (around 2pm) and I get wanting to keep space, but this has literally never happened to me before anywhere I have been. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Eventually, we were able to sit at that table (they didn't split it into 2, but we offered multiple times). No larger group came so there wasn't an issue with that... We went to the Alice and Wonderland side at 12 when they opened and it was already packed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was beautiful and unique.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, the rest our experience was not great. It took 20 minutes to get acknowledgment by a server and a drink order and another 10 minutes to get it (water, a coffee, 2 soft drinks). 50 minutes after we sat down we provided our order- and only after we asked bc the server seemed to have forgotten us. But at the same time, it seemed like a free for all. Some were running orders, some making drinks, some on the back and forth between the two sides. Just looked poorly managed and run. The food is good, but not wait 80 minutes in total for it good. And then again it took forever, and only when asked to get our check. The food is ok, but over priced. we spent $170 on 3 adults and 2 children. They forgot my daughter-in- laws fries with ranch. The girl taking our order even asked if she wanted 1 or 2 ranches. If Hallmark made a brunch movie, it would be filmed at BTW in Tavares--especially at Christmas. We went for Sunday brunch during the holidays, and this place was decked out floor to ceiling like Santa personally said, "Needs more décor." The food? Absolute holiday magic. The eggnog French toast tasted like Christmas morning in carb form, the banana foster waffle with candied pecans was indulgent in all the right ways, and the French toast with blueberry compote and lemon curd was the perfect sweet-tangy mic drop. Every bite was better than the last. The staff was friendly, attentive, and moved with the cheerful efficiency of elves who've had just the right amount of coffee. Fair warning: it's a small spot and they don't take reservations, so we showed up about 30 minutes before they opened at noon--and it was 100% worth it. Tried BTW for the first time today, before my review I want to mention they do not fry in peanut oil, we saw a google review stating this and almost didn't try it (my husbands allergic) until we went in and asked. My husband had the caprese clucker, fried chicken sandwich with caprese salad on top. Huge, juicy chicken breast piled high with fresh caprese ingredients, very good! I had a taco trio, they def have some fun taco options. The WTF was a blackened mahi, cooked well and piled high w toppings. The trailer park had sweet bbq fried chicken and was my favorite of the three. The hot chick'n bed was a fried buffalo chicken with blue cheese crumbls, for me the bleu cheese was too potent so my least favorite but all in all they were good. I went in the left side, to order a 7 & 7 for my wife & a Corona w/lime for me. And then l went to the right side and was met by Megan/Megatron took my order (1) Twisted Pretzel & (1) Beer Cheese Fries, they gave you a number & delivered your order to your table. The food was hot & tasty. The service from Megatron & Jaelyn was 10 of 10, we could tell how special BTW was, both sides were eager to assist us , on the left side Marissa H was also very helpful & so was the bartender!!! Don't sleep on BTW - this place's food, service and atmosphere is all 5 stars! Trina was the main waitress we saw and each time she interacted she was so exceptional and kind! The chicken and waffles (winner winner) were so good and flavorful - the chicken perfectly seasoned with the right amount of crunch but not too much breading. The banana nut waffles reminded you of the flavors of banana bread - super good! The mission impossible burger was recommended by Trina and I got it with a regular beef patty - full of flavor, very well seasoned, and the mushrooms were marinaded with balsamic vinaigrette which really enchanted the burger further. Having tried most all of the burgers, I prefer the Canadian-Eh. The Korean BBQ Pork taco is probably the best taco. Vegetarian options in both burgers and tacos, too! The tacos are big - the burgers are messy - the beer next door is one of the best craft beer menus in the area. You can even have your food sent over to Bru, which we almost always do. The burgers and tacos are unique, and have not changed much over the years. You can easily drop $50-$60 at an "Order Here" counter place though, so it's more of a special occasion casual night out place for us than somewhere we go all the time. read more

One of my favorite places in the greater Orlando area - we always stop here on our way back from visiting the natural springs up North. Okay soooooo my first visit was not the greatest. Ill be honest. I ordered the kick'n bitty fry basket. I waited almost 30-40 min just to get my food, even a table of 5 got their food before me and it was only me and one other person and they ordered the same thing as us. When the food did arrive it was cold as ever, I discussed with the manager or owner and his excuse was because they put ranch dressing on top of it and it cooled it down. Which I do not think ranch changes the internal temp of the chicken which I know it doesn't lol. Out Antiquing found this place down town... clean fun atmosphere with a good size menu with some unique plates. They are actually pretty busy for mid afternoon which was a good sign. Today I went here, just a burger day for me. I love their burgers becI can get my rear burger. Had the 88 burger because the bacon jam. It's OMG. A rear burger with the jam hit me and had to have it. Such a cool cafe! I love the quaint and quirky decor. They have every sweet coffee item imaginable. Dessert for dinner is the way to go at BTW. Their waffle selection is to die for. My fave was the one that tasted like banana fosters! If you don't want sweets, their trailer park tacos are awesome! We tried the mushroom & onion taco too. Yum!! I'd get that one each time. BTW (Burgers, Tacos, Waffles) is located on Main Street in Tavares, FL, across from Wooton Park. The restaurant is somewhat new and stands out amongst other buildings in the immediate area; you really cannot miss it. The restaurant emits an artsy/industrial vibe using stained concrete floors, exposed ductwork/electrical conduit, Edison-style light bulbs, stiff metal chairs, and lightly whitewashed wooden tables. BTW uses a counter-service concept where the customer places their order at the register, then restaurant staff delivers food, drinks, and condiments. Lines can form quickly, so I highly recommend looking over their menu on Yelp, Google, or BTW's website, before arriving to help speed up the ordering process. As a customer, I am willing to spend a little more money on quality products. I am happy to see that BTW's Angus beef burgers are made with a combination of chuck, brisket, and short rib, and the Stubborn sodas are made with natural flavors and without HFCS, artificial sweeteners, and Azo Dyes. Today I ordered the BFD (Breakfast for Dinner) Burger ($15.95). The burger is served on a waffle bun and topped with smashed tater tots, an over-medium egg, cheddar cheese, maple bacon, and drizzled sriracha honey aioli. I chose honey mustard slaw as my side and paired my meal with a Stubborn Root Beer fountain soda ($2.80 with free refills). Our server brought out our drinks immediately, and our food was delivered 10-minutes or so later. I was impressed with the initial look of breakfast-for-dinner-stack, but after diving in, I had difficulty holding it all together, especially after adding syrup. About ¼ of the way through my meal, I decided it would be best to finish with a fork and knife. All-in-all, the food was delicious, even the coleslaw; however, I would not recommend ordering this burger if you are on a date, LOL. BTW also houses a café in the west end of the building geared toward espresso, crafted coffees, soda, and snacks. I stopped in and ordered a 12oz Americano ($2.95) before hitting the road. My coffee was freshly ground, brewed to order, and served in a porcelain cup. My coffee was hot, flavorful, and strong, the way I like it. I'm not crazy about spending $2.95 for a 12oz Americano, but I would do it again If I was at BTW. My only complaint is that the furniture is a bit too industrial and is almost impossible to get comfortable on. For that reason, I do not see customers staying for long periods to drink wine or beer later into the evening. Regardless, I highly recommend stopping in for lunch, dinner, or to enjoy any one of their freshly brewed coffees. read more

OMG! Wow, this place definitely blew me away. I came here with a couple others after a day through the Apopka wildlife trail, and BTW was the top rated place in the area. The menu and food pics on Yelp looked super intriguing so we definitely had to go. They have street parking as well as a private lot to the side, and they're connected to a brewery that I believe is run by the same people. We were greeted immediately and were showed the menus and were told to order at the counter. We took a while to pick what we wanted because everything sounded so good. All together we got poutine waffle fries, the cheeztopia waffle, street corn, a 3 taco plate, the winner winner waffle, and fried oreos. Now when I tell you everything was amazing... The poutine waffle fries could've definitely been a meal in its own. You can clearly taste the stout, and with the shreds of the short rib in the gravy that it's smothered in.. omg. An awesome take on poutine for sure. The cheeztopia waffle was crazzzzy! Atop a waffle made of tater tots, like a huge hash brown, it's like a BBQ dream. Pulled pork, mac n cheese, hot bbq sauce and more of that stout! It's like a big pile of YUM. The street corn was SO good. I asked for it without the cilantro garnish but I was ok with it in the crema. For some reason they didn't add the chili powder dust to make it like a real elote? But I honestly didn't notice until I finished them... they were just that good on its own with the cotija and crema. Im sure the chili powder would've just made it even better. The crema really makes it awesome. I was scooping it up in a spoon to have a lot in every bite. I got the 3 taco plate. From my pic, top right is the WTFish, top right is Trailer Park, and the bottom is the YOLO. The fish taco was definitely my favorite, the blacked mahi mahi was delish and I loved it with the baja sauce. The YOLO was my second fave, I loved the chorizo and beef blend mixed up with the stout and sriracha bbq. It was like a fun spicy meatloaf almost. The mac n cheese on top was a generous portion and gave a soft texture that I loved. The Trailer park was good also, but by the time I got to that taco, I was super full. Winner Winner waffle was like their version of chicken and waffles. The buttermilk waffle was fluffy and soft, and it came with butter to spread on top. The bourbon in the maple bourbon syrup really came through in flavor and was a great touch to the dish. But the REAL star here was that fried chicken breast. OMG. This was seriously the best piece of chicken I've had in so long. Ive only been this impressed by chicken once before and that place is closed now. But omg. The chicken breast was soooo moist and had a great flavor. I was so blown away by how good it is. I live an hour away from here and Id drive here just to eat that piece of chicken again. I dunno if it's normally that good or I got lucky but wow. Just wow. The fried oreos taste exactly as you'd think. They were good and soft and an awesome end to a meal, I just wish it had some chocolate sauce or something for it. So overall.... everything was fantastic.
