Scrambled eggs with cheese, toast, hash browns & toast with bacon
    Kimberly M.

Had breakfast here today with my mom, sister & brother-in-law & it did not disappoint! We all had eggs of some sort with meat & waffles. The waffles were delicious! So light & fluffy & not super thick! Just the right size! I had my eggs scrambled with cheese & they were delicious! Bacon was fully cooked the way I like it too! Our waitress Teresa was great! Attentive to all our needs & very courteous! Highly recommend stopping in here for breakfast or lunch!

Greasy and soggy bottom bun of the original cheeseburger

The Waffle House is similar to an old-fashioned diner, including very friendly service but offers a much more limited menu - mainly breakfast and burgers. The food is simplistic but generous. The small hash browns covered about a third of my plate. The gravy for the biscuits and gravy came in a huge bowl and contained lots of pieces of diced sausage. I ordered pickles for my cheeseburger and received enough to cover the entire burger. The diner was accommodating to special requests. They provided pickles for my cheeseburger at no additional charge. Additionally, the waitress volunteered to charge me $1.50 for one of their original cheeseburgers making it half the price of the menu item of two original cheeseburgers for $3 because I only wanted one. While my mother devoured her biscuits sand gravy, pronouncing it delicious, the original cheeseburger and hash browns were greasy, typical of a greasy spoon type diner. The bottom bun was already completely soggy when the plate was delivered. the patty covered almost the entire bun so I got meat in every bite. The grilled onions were good. The side of hash browns (they don't sell fries) was similarly greasy, but the top layer was well grilled sand delivered a nice crunch. When I finished a layer of grease coated the bottom of the plate.

Every Waffle House is the same and every Waffle House is different, if you know what I mean. Same food, but service can vary. This one does a good job of serving. Kind of strange but I thought WH was cheap... then I got the bill for 4 of us and it was just over $40. What?

Mount Dora Waffle House was clean, service was super friendly, tasted great, and reasonably priced. It was way better than Denny's food.

The Southern burger was great, but I tossed off the raw onions as I absolutely hate them, and added the lovely pickled onions from my wife's salad, which gave the perfect amount of flavor and color. Don't you agree? Give me a LIKE if you do !!! The crepe was next level. Delicate crepe, very soft ripe bananas, sauce was not disgustingly sugary, and the vanilla ice cream was smooth and soft, not icy and sweet. Dunno what brand they use, or if they churn the cream fresh in-house, but it made my day.

There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

New no outside beverage policy. They don't offer lattes and we were all ordering breakfast, not just sitting around drinking coffee from home. Was told they make most of their money off coffee? Isn't it like $3 with refills? Not like I bought my own eggs. Cool. Left and went to waffle house. Prob wont be back. So, they lost $30-$40 in sales because of a $3 coffee? Sound business decision.

The restaurant was not too busy when we got there. Our friends were already seated and waiting for us. There had ordered water for the table and had their coffees. Joshua appeared shortly after we exchanged pleasantries with our group. He checked in and we ordered coffee as well. He returned with the coffee and took all our orders. Two of our friends frequent the cafe weekly so he already knew what they wanted. The rest of us were able to order. We received our food in a reasonable time. Joshua and Kim checked in periodically to make sure we didn't need anything and kept the coffee flowing. I had the Pot Roast Omelette with Home Fries and a Biscuit. It was ok. Everyone else enjoyed their food. I would recommend the cafe adding fresh fruits to the menu. By the time we got ready to leave, there was a line of people waiting to be seated. We had to sidled out the door. The cafe is quaint and popular with the locals of Mount Dora. I am open to returning and trying something else on the menu.

Jessica is awesome...friendly, attentive, and always has a smile on her face. God Bless her. Last weekend was a different story...I won't mention her name but the waitress we had last week was extremely rude. When I asked for 1/2 Peach 1/2 Unsweetened Tea the waitress went on to berate me and argue on how the tea is already made that way...my mom asked for water no ice and her response was "we don't have a button for that." Needless to say, I got an extremely sweet tea that my husband had to go up to the counter to change. I'd like to think the woman was having a bad day...but I truly doubt that's the case. For some strange reason it just seems to me that the woman is racist or just needs to go find Jesus. With all that said, I truly doubt that we are the first or will the be the last to bring this up and if management takes a look...I am sure they will know who I'm referring to. We love Peach Tree and will definitely be coming back...because we won't let one bad peach ruin it for the rest of us.
