Don't be bothered by it being in a gas station... as it is super clean, there are tables & booths, a friendly staff, and the food we tried was absolutely delicious! This little gem is hidden inside a gas station, and while it may not look like much from the outside, the food here is absolutely fantastic! One thing to note is that seating is limited, so you might want to plan accordingly. I also wish they had menus available on the tables--we had to wait until we were ready to order to see the menu taped to the counter at the register. But honestly, the wait was well worth it. I tried the Puffy Tacos (Asada), and they were seasoned to perfection with just the right amount of cheese. My wife had the Carnitas and Barbacoa. While the Carnitas were good, it was the Barbacoa that truly stole the show--so flavorful and tender! Both the red and green sauces were a hit, tasting authentic and adding just the right kick to our meals. I can't believe I didn't discover this place sooner--I've been missing out! I checked this out on the recommendation of the "Staysh Review" Tiktok page, and it did not disappoint. As soon as I entered their area inside the gas station, I was warmly welcomed by their staff. The first thing I noticed was the small seating area, but it has that classic feel to it like an old diner or something. I ordered the loaded fries and two puffy tacos. Regarding the tacos, they were off the chain good! The shell was fried to perfection, the ingredients were fresh and tasty. I can't recall the last time I enjoyed a taco this much. The loaded fries were also most excellent! I don't remember everything that was in there, but it was delicious. I ordered mine without the guacamole, but it was still quite good. The puffy tacos were filling so I didn't eat as much of the fries as I should have, and ended up sharing them with my wife when I got home. They could stand to create a smaller size as a side item or something. If there's a downside to this place, it's that it's a gas station, and since I travel a lot, I eat a lot of gas station food to eat on the cheap. This was not cheap food. I spent a lot more than I was expecting to, but the quality of the food definitely made up for it. I'd definitely have those tacos again though! read more

First off its in a shell gas station. Next I paid $15.00 for two tiny corn TACOS with a tablespoon of chicken each! And a tiny side of rice and beans. I told girl at counter I would be back once I got a store drink since nothing at their fountain was appealing. She said you can not buy a drink from the gas station and bring it into the restaurant. Today we dined in a hidden gem inside of the Shell Gas Station on the corner of State Hwy. 181 and US Hwy. 90, Las Catrinas De Rosy - Daphne. The restaurant has counter service with several booth tables to enjoy your meal. Today my husband and I enjoyed the puffy tacos - steak, fish and beef. The tacos came with a couple of different sauces with a fresh cut of lime. These tacos are authentic and really amazing. The puffy taco shells are crisp and delicious. The food is always fire. Been to mexico a dozen times and this is the closest thing you can get. I've been coming here twice a month for the last 1.5 years. At first they had a middle aged woman always taking orders, and she was so nice and sweet. But for the past year, there is a younger girl who always takes your order at the counter who is the rudest person I have ever encountered while ordering food. I've said this time and time again, in the vast landscape of very few culinary offerings, this spot continues the trend that those in the South have no clue what good food actually is. Having come from a town right across the largest border crossing in the world, I've enjoyed the delights of genuine Mexican food. Whether a shopping excursion, or a night of elevated dining, Mexican food is something to absolutely celebrate, whether the humble buche or springy pulpo con nopales. Texas somehow managed to ruin it with their "Tex-Mex" takes and then Alabama has furthered the notion that "Southern" Mexican food isn't even Mexican, but some terrible interpretation of Hispanic cuisine in general. Yes, yes I get it, it's the South, but no one has been even willing to step up and try to authentic the native flavors of Mexico without dumbing it down the Southerners. This place isn't it. The birria consommé is just an oily, untreated mess. The "carne asada" is a smoosh, dried out, unflavored wreck. The frijoles was literally burnt and zero consideration was given. There isn't even an effort to try and make the food native to its namesake. Birria is supposed to be a hyper rich, incredibly well spiced, Uber beefy broth that just makes dipping a way of life. As said to start, it's just an oily, beef broth that doesn't taste deep or spiced. I really hope that someone makes and effort to do something much more bold. I think it's time for Mexican cuisine to rise up in a way that will blow peoples minds and expectations away. I'm the meantime, if you want a really bad imitation, go here. SO glad we decided to finally go try Las Catrinas de Rosy in the Shell gas station at 90 &181. I got the queso which was good, standard offering, then tried the birria for lunch. Oh man, the most flavorful and tender birria quesadillas ever. The consumme broth was perfect, their little green and orange hot sauces were out of this world. I can't wait to try more things! I stopped in here on 2/7/23 to get some tacos. I live here but am from Texas so the idea of some good tacos was very exciting. Every thing I have heard about this place has been outstanding . I have to say I was a little underwhelmed and disappointed. I got a barbacoa taco and an asada taco. Both were very dry and tasted the same. Unless you knew which was which, you could not distinguish by taste or texture of the meat the difference between the two. I may go back and try something different.
