This was the most greasy mexican food we ever had. The chili Rellanos was over microwaved and puddles of oil surrounded it. A simple ground beef taco again was sitting in oil. We ordered a large cheese dip because our server with her hand showed us the small was the size of a half dollar. The large was way too much for us, plus the chips were stale. The smaller the place the more they can concentrate on the food! We went around lunch time, and there is only two other tables that were not taken. Both tacos that I ordered, the Tripe and Lengua were both very falvourful. Honestly wasn't a huge fan of the tripe, It was a little soft ( I'm used to it being crispy) but the flavor was on point. The Lengua (tongue) was cooked to perfection. It was not chewy at all, It was literally falling apart That's how good it was cooked!!! Full of flavor!!!!!!!!! My husband absolutely love his meal, that wasn't my cup of tea but nonetheless it was very flavorful. He was not a huge fan of the mango salsa. service was amazing as well, as soon as we sat down a lady came over here to hand us our silverware and the menus and she noticed that the table was still a little not fully wiped down and she went and grabbed a rag and immediately wiped it down for us. Our waiter came over right after that and ask what we would like to drink and promptly went to go get our drinks! He gave us ample amount of time to take a look at the menu as well. First time here and probably our last. I love Mexican food but this is the first time I ever got food poisoning from one. First off, no free chips and salsa! Never been to one that didn't and I've been to every Mexican restaurant from Cali, Denver, Texas to east coast. Never once have I ever got sick, even when they served us chicken wings that weren't cooked. But this time I ordered the Birria burrito wrap and it was so oily. I ate only one wedge and made me queasy. Later that night the water diarrhea and throwing up wouldn't stop. It was the worst I've ever felt. Followed by chills. We had visited Bellingrath Gardens and googled a place to eat in the area. This place had 5 star reviews and we could not have been more disappointed. It is located in a strip mall on the end and we were there around 4:27 pm. When we entered the employees were leaning all around the counter and did not greet us upon entering but eventually after we stood there a waitress told us to sit anywhere. It is a small place and the tables are close. It took her several minutes to bring us menus and ask for our drinks and no other guests were in the restaurant. When she came back to the table she could not answer our questions about the menu items and did not offer to ask for help. My steak quesadilla was greasy and the rice and beans were bland. My friend's said his steak enchiladas were ok but he had better. We will not return. read more

This was the worst mexican dishes I have ever eaten. Completely flavorless and bland. I don't know who the owners are but if this is how they run a restaurant they need to just shut the doors. I've never been to a Mexican place where you had to pay for chips and salsa. The menu had descriptions that when the food arrived cheaper condiments had been added in place of what was listed. For instance red sauce over a tamale that was supposed to have chile con carne. The tamale was hard as a brick. The beef in the birria had zero taste. Sometimes I get cravings for things I never have eaten. In recent years I've seen birria tacos all over the tv. The looked very appetizing whenever I caught a glimpse of them. This was the perfect time to try them. Where in Mobile could one find the best birria tacos? I searched Yelp for "birria tacos near me" and El Rincon Tacos and Grill popped up first. This restaurant had 4 stars and counting so I had all proof I needed to make a visit. I made my order online and made the quick trip to pick it up. I honestly had never heard of this place. That might be because I've always been neutral to Mexican food. I like it but I don't consider it a favorite. Anyway, I make it to El Rincon and notice that you can't see inside the place. I didn't know if that was a good thing or bad thing. When I stepped inside I saw what seemed like a small place but it was packed. I picked up my food and made my way back home. As for the car ride home, the aroma seeping from my plate was pleasant. When I opened my plate, I instantly thought I should've made this an inside the restaurant dining experience. I don't blame El Rincon, but my birria tacos were kind of conjoined. I guess that's the price I paid for doing takeout. My dreams weren't crushed though. Everything still looked amazing. I have to say I didn't know what to expect when I bit into my taco. My reaction after I did was that this tasted like a Mexican pot roast. The dipping sauce was so amazing. I could've just had the sauce and the beef and I would've been happy. There was so much flavor. The beef was so tender band juicy. The meal was so savory. I wish there was more sauce left over. I do need to note that my meal came with 2 other spicy type sauces that I didn't even use other than to taste test. They tasted good but my only concern at the time was the birria dipping sauce. I really enjoyed my meal from El Rincon. I want to go back and dine inside. I will give my meal 4 stars. It would've been higher if I was in the restaurant. My tacos wouldn't have had a chance to stick together. Again I don't fault El Rincon that's just the nature of takeout. read more

Staff - Besides the cooks, there were 2 front of house. Both were very friendly and accommodating. Food - We ordered the Carnitas plate and Enchilada plate, and my friend and I shared the Parilla Alabama plate. That last plate was similar to a fajita plate where the main dish came out on a sizzling platter. It included steak, chicken, and shrimp with camrlized onions and peppers. Well I was skeptical when I saw this place had 5 stars, but it lived up to the hype. I had the California Burrito and my wife got the Fajita De Papa! Both were amazing! Portions were very good and worth the price for sure. The service was very good and helpful. The place it's self was small, couldn't probably handle a large group of people. But, that was nice as it was a nice atmosphere. This has been the best Mexican place we have found in Mobile. FYI they do not serve chips and salsa free. This place is a hidden gem. Started the meal with the normal chips and queso, had to ask for salsa. Be warned the salsa is a traditional Mexican style, more like a hot sauce than American / TexMex kind. Yes it's spicy but very good, if you can handle a little heat go for it, if not stick with the queso. Ordered street tacos: pastor, lengua, buche, and higado. Lengua(tongue) and higado(liver) were my favorites, the pastor(pork) and buche(pork stomach) had great flavor but not my favorites. Wife got a steak chimichanga with rice and beans. She said it was one of the best she had eaten. She has a low spice tolerance and came across a bit of jalapeño, but a little sour cream fixes all Sorry no pictures, you know what this stuff looks like. The place is small, so arrive early or you may have to wait a little while. The food came out promptly and the server was very nice. Good size portions for the price. Soon will be retiring in Mobile and El Rincon will definitely be our go to spot! My husband ordered the three birra tacos which were flavorful and delicious own their own but dipped in the birra broth took it to a different level! Amazing! I ordered the carnitas platter which came with chunks of tender browned pork which were perfectly seasoned, refried beans, yellow rice, shredded lettuce, onion, tomato, sour cream and a little guacamole along with three warm tortillas. If you are looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant that serves good tacos and burritos. This is the place!! The green salsa tastes SO SO good! Like the kind you get at a taco truck. They have a large menu with plenty of options. I went with the pastor and carnitas tacos. It is topped with onions and cilantro. I also ordered the burrito California. Extremely large burrito that is stuffed with steak, rice, beans, lettuce, tomato and sour cream. Topped with cheese dip and Chile con carne. Wow! What a huge delicious burrito! Everything we had was Fantastic and Fresh and Hot Out of The Kitchen. The only downside is you have to order any one of their dips in order to get chips. I knew things were going to be good were going to be good when I saw the menu...... tacos sold individually with specialty meats! EVERY SINGLE TACO was a hit. Warning- the salsa is HOT! Ask for the green salsa if you are lit on fire like I was! Do not skip the lengua- it's similar to a slow cooked roast. My bff had the stuffed and fried avocado and hasn't stopped talking about it since! (That was 6 months ago.) The food was the best Mexican so far on the coast. We had birria tacos which were magnificent and a steak and chorizo taco, as well as one El pastor and a crispy tripe taco. The food was served hot, generous portions, delicious salsas and a beautiful and gracious server.
