I have recommended this company twice in the past, based on a positive experience I had with them several years ago. During my own move, my husband was present to oversee the entire process--an important detail that will become more relevant later.
The first referral I made was for my father and sister (hereafter referred to as Sister 1). During that move, the owner, Larry, arrived with an associate who appeared to be poorly trained and ill-equipped to handle the job. Larry had to repeatedly stop to redirect and reprimand him, which ultimately slowed the move significantly. When I expressed concern, Larry admitted that his usual crew was unavailable and that this associate "doesn't listen." While his candor was appreciated, the lack of professionalism--particularly the public yelling--was disconcerting.
Despite this, I referred the company again, this time to my other sister (Sister 2), who had also observed the first move and felt the pricing was fair. Sister 2's move involved minimal items: eight boxes, a couch, a mirror, two televisions, and a washer and dryer. All items were pre-packed and ready to go. However, the same problematic associate arrived again, and Larry insisted on rewrapping the couch before disappearing for extended periods. At one point, Sister 2 found the associate idle at the elevator, claiming he was unsure of what to do next. When asked where Larry was, his answers varied--none of which were accurate, as she had just come from both the truck and the apartment.
As with the first move, Larry's frequent absence and the associate's lack of direction resulted in unnecessary delays. Despite the job requiring minimal effort for a one-bedroom apartment, it took over two hours just to load the truck. To be fair, we anticipated some additional time due to the washer and dryer being delivered to a separate location. However, the entire move took four hours--an excessive duration given the circumstances.
Even more troubling, upon arriving at the drop-off location for the washer and dryer, Larry sat idle outside the property for 20 minutes. My aunt, who was observing from inside, eventually had to call him to inquire why he hadn't begun unloading.
The final leg of the move--unloading at Sister 2's new apartment--took just 37 minutes, further confirming that the time spent earlier was unnecessary and inefficient. The final charge was $700 plus a $100 deposit, totaling $800. This fee is unreasonable for the scope of the move and could have easily been avoided had there been proper time management and professionalism.
Reflecting on all three experiences, one pattern stands out: in the first two instances, someone was present to monitor the move closely. Sister 2, being young and alone, unfortunately did not have the same oversight and, as a result, was left vulnerable to what felt like intentional delays.
This experience was not only disappointing but also unacceptable. What once seemed like a reliable and affordable moving company has proven otherwise. Regrettably, I can no longer recommend this business. Attempts to manipulate time for profit not only cost them future referrals, but also severely damaged their credibility. read more
