Sadly, not impressed with Laredos. We ordered three drinks: two kinds of margaritas and a michelada. All three were really watered down. I didn't know micheladas had ice in them? Like, filled to the brim with ice? So the result tasted like the end of a Bloody Mary mixed with a watered down light beer. Wow what a disappointment. We used to go here every few Friday nights for date night when we lived in lower Queen Anne and loved it. Just came back last Saturday and we were really disappointed. The menu has changed with less selection, less detail in what you get and increased prices. Our 'simple salad' was tiny, super simple and super spicy for $7. Our $16 fajitas were full of jalapeños (which I like in moderation but the menu didn't even mention jalapeños), only came with 3 tortillas, essentially missing the Pico-de-Gallo and the rice and beans were cold (the cheese on the beans wasn't even melted). Not once did our waitress check in despite my husband's drink being empty for most of the meal. Definitely won't be coming back again. read more

I've been there several times now, and I enjoy it enough to keep going back. But as far as innovative Mexican food goes, its a 3star. The food is good, the service is good. But nothing stands out. In fact they have actually gone backwards. The plates now come with rice and beans like every other mex restaurant. I miss the grilled veg that it used to come with. I'd say its more a great place for a appy and drink than a dinner restaurant. With a little work this could be great. If you're from Texas, this is your new home away from home! I am born, raised and went to UT in Austin, so the menu takes a "play" on re creating the famous drinks and recipes of favorite Austin restaurants. You must take it with a grain of salt because we are in Seattle, but the recipes are pretty accurate to me; although I always like to tease them because I have never heard of an "avocado margarita - an Austin, Texan favorite" lol um no! But the atmosphere is awesome; Texas beer on draft and of course where else can you watch the Longhorns play! Plus one night we stumbled in there close to 2am and they were playing Selena and Ramon Ayala so needless to say they put up with my awful "karaoke" renditions and "gritos". All Texas stuff aside, I have always been pleased with the food, portions, drinks, service and staff! read more

This place has the benefit of only being 4 blocks from my place so I frequently visit. It is a Sunday morning staple for me as they have a super tasty brunch menu. I almost always go with their "Pepe Scramble". A delicious mix of scrambled eggs, spinach and chorizo that is too good to pass up - all for $6. I honestly don't think I could make a better tasting breakfast for that cost. The bar staff on Sunday mornings is friendly, and they have plenty of TV's which is particularly nice during football season. Nothing like watching football, drinking an irish coffee and chomping on some chorizo to kick off your Sunday morning. Their dinner menu is OK. I haven't too much off it. My husband and I lived just up the hill from Laredos for a couple of years, and the easy walk down the hill made it a spot we hit up often (always forgetting that the walk UP the hill was not so easy). :) The vibe inside is pretty good - although it can feel overwhelmingly like a yuppie hangout at times which is not really my sort of crowd. We've tried the fish tacos, nachos and carne asada, among others. The food is an ok version of TexMex, but nothing outstanding. (Although considering my husband is from Texas, he may be harsher critic of TexMex food than most.) The Mexican Martinis, on the other hand, are awesome!! And strong. Basically the best thing on the menu, and not something I've found anywhere else in Seattle. Go there and try one...you won't be disappointed. read more

Laredo's Grill is definitely a gem in the lower Queen Anne area. It offers affordable food and cocktails, with a vast array of margaritas on the menu. My favorite by far was their signature avocado margarita, I call it a meal in a glass. Our server Jane was terrific, informative and made you feel like you were home. I am definitely looking forward to hitting this local gem up for Margarita Mondays. The only upset was they no longer had the French Toast, my party definitely was not pleased. Laredos is THE Mexican restaurant in Queen Anne. Pretty much the entire menu is a solid choice, the staff are great, and they serve two signature drinks: 1) the sippy. A concentrated margarita. There is debate as to whether you are meant to sip on it, or take it in one sip. 2) The shanty. A beer-margarita combo the way God intended. Great food. Great people. Great spot. read more

The second time we've been within 2 years, and it did not disappoint! We took a couple of newbies and they enjoyed it as well. There were "yummmzzz" all around from the chicken tacos, fish tacos, chicken fajitas, and the Al Pastor pork. Drinks were good, I had a Mojito. They could work on a few more beer selections. Laredos grill is a low-key neighborhood mexican bar & grill in the quiet parts of lower queen anne. It is one of the few places serving food until midnight everyday, and 2am on weekends. We went here on a Sunday night, and I can say I wouldn't mind being a regular here. The restaurant is pretty large, with a large bar lining one entire wall. The decor is sort of like a family tex-mex restaurant, but the ambiance is slightly on the darker side giving it a bar feeling. It's not upscale, but something you'd expect from a local joint. The food is great here, and the portions are huge. We got a burrito, some tacos, and fajitas, all of which were delicious. The fajitas were very greasy though. We also got some queso and chips and salsa. The chips seemed to have been kept out too long, and there was no crunch to them. The drinks were solid as well. We got a ginger beer margarita and a spicy frozen margarita, both which were very refreshing. They tasted kinda same, but we liked them. The service was pleasant. Our server was helpful and friendly. The prices are good, around $10-14 for large entrees, and $6-8 for drinks, which is lower than the average. They also have a late night happy hour which is a really good deal. I enjoyed my experience here. This is a great place if you're in the neighborhood, but nothing to drive down for. Will definitely be back. read more

Laredos Grill has a great happy hour. I just recently moved to Queen Anne and it is walking distance from my house. The Happy hour menu is simple but enticing. I ordered the Simple Salad for $4, regular price $6.95. This salad included Field greens, queso fresco, pico, pumpkin seeds and black beans in a cilantro vinaigrette. The attentive server asked if I wanted to add steak for$2 extra and I couldn't resist. This dish was so fresh and tasty more than enough as a dinner for only $6! The meat was cooked well with a nice smoky grill flavor. I will be back very soon. read more

Stopped by for a quick happy hour with 2 other friends and was seated promptly outside. Loved that they had a little patio seating and the waitress was very sweet and attentive. I ordered the strawberry slushy margarita and it was really good! I decided to then order the fiesta dip for the table as well as the happy hour pork tacos topped with pineapples. The food was decent, not the best or worst taco I've ever had. I thought the pork was a tad salty. Happy hour turned out to be "sad hour" as the bartenders completely ignored our party of three. At one point, we had to walk down to the other side of the bar where the bartender stood and texted all night long, just to place an order for food. The food was average. Came in very late after getting off work and ordered the combination Carne Asada and Chile Relleno plate. It's large enough for two, comes with sides like guacamole, rice beans and grilled veggies. Very well seasoned food and good if you are Tex-Mexican. I had 3 sangrias which were awesome and the bartender/our server was the coolest guy, kept us company and made good drinks. I think Laredos has alot of potential, but wasn't quuuuiiiite there yet when we had dinner last Oct. Some friends live on the same block and I still haven't been chompin at the bit to rush back even though I walk past it a couple times a month. The space itself is lovely. Dark, nicely decorated, big windows, and a variety of seating options (bar, table, booth). Service was just OK though. When we arrived we had to wait awhile to be seated even though there were plenty of open tables. The hostess seemed a little confused and/or new. There's not much room to wait in front of the door either, FYI. Our server was fine but some friends joined us for drinks after we ate and the bill got all screwed up. Laredos serves complimentary chips and salsa, which earns a Star right there! The homemade chips were great, the tomatillo salsa was good, but the regular salsa was just OK. The menu is small and I wasn't excited about that many options. We ordered the diabla camarones ($13.95) and some (vegetarian?) tacos ($10.50). There were only 5 or 6 shrimp and they were so spicy they were practically inedible. Now I loooove me some spicy food, but this spice wasn't about flavor, it was about burning. The plate also included a pile of veges that seemed to have been meant for a fajita platter. They didn't serve any purpose but to justify the steep price. The tacos were pretty good but I don't remember anything other than they were more edible than the Burning Camarones. I made a note that they were served with squash, which I am not a fan of, but I actually ate and enjoyed this as a side. I also noted that the tortillas were homemade and yummy. Overall I was not impressed with the food, but am thinking perhaps we made poor selections and other items on the menu are better? My friend said she orders vegetarian quesadillas and she loves them. I guess I'd try Laredos again for Happy Hour, since the prices were out of line for the quality and quantity of food. Also, they hadn't been open for that long, so maybe some things have improved in the last 8 months. I hope so, since Seattle doesn't need one more mediocre Mexican place! read more

Stopped in tonight with some friends who live up the street from the place. Very busy for a thursday night but we were able to get a seat immediately, yay! Chips and salsa came and the salsa, which is hit or miss at a lot of places, was yummy! The three of us scarfed both down pretty quickly and were promptly refilled. Ordered our food. I had the chicken enchiladas, and one friend had the fish tacos and the other had some sort of pork tenderloin tacos I believe. We all were incredibly happy with our meals! I love that they give you grilled veggies like red onions, squash and red and green bell peppers with your meal, so tasty. Plates were cleared quickly and checks brought out, even separated for us, in a timely fashion. Not so fast though to make it seem like we were being rushed. Anyways, perfect meal, perfect service, will definitely be hitting this place up on a regular basis! read more

We tried only two dishes from their brunch menu (Chilquiles was one of them.) They were not good enough to entice us back for a dinner. And, if we were so inclined, our server Joey would have killed any notion of a return visit. Surly, creepy and lazy are three adjectives that come to mind. Never asked what we wanted to drink. Consequently, we did not order drinks. Never checked on us for our satisfaction after being served. Both of us left more than half of the serving on our plates. That did not spark an inquiry. The bartender didn't seem to care either as his time was spent schmoozing with a small group of friends ignoring the rest of the place. It is easy to see why at 12:30 on a Saturday the place was mostly empty. Whoever sunk their money into this spot needs to get back there and tend to business. Leaving your business in the hands of Joey is a recipe for failure. read more

Sat Night @ 11pm. First off the Bartender brought great service. Unfortunately...... Prob 1 - Fish Tacos came out stone cold. No Mas. Prob 2 - Nachos came out luke warm, soggy, cheese was a big ball in the center and beans were all on the bottom of the plate under everything else. Best part was the jalapenos which at least had flavor. Prob 3 - The total pervy and invasive woman who sat next to us at the bar who kept trying to cop a feel on my girlfriend's pussow to cap off our already awesome experience. My boyfriend and I had heard rumblings about Laredo's, so we decided to check it out. I'm kind of snobby when it comes to Mexican/Tex-Mex food. You have to have good salsa, good beans and good rice. Most people think of these as extras on the plate, but when that basket of chips comes out to my table, my judging begins. Laredo's has awesome salsa. It tastes fire roasted. It tastes like Yummy. The tomatillo salsa lacked a little something. but the red salsa was super good and earned two thumbs up from both me and my guy. The beans are smokey and so flavorful. No re-fried glop hidden in melted cheese. The rice is fluffy and perfectly flavored without being overly salty, or sticky or any kind of typical rice badness. I had the shrimp tacos. My fella had the steak... something...I can't remember what it was called. No matter. We were both Oooo-ing and nodding and pointing to our food like a couple of neanderthals unable to speak because our mouths were full of deliciousness. For me, the price was totally reasonable for the quality of food we got. I don't want a huge plate full of food that I can't finish, and is just huge for the sake of being huge. I paid $12.95 for a perfect plate of three amazing, flavorful tacos, beans, grilled veggies and rice. It was all quality and it was all yummy. We will be back, that's for sure. Oh...and a side note - The bartenders are nice eye candy. read more
