Absolute worst laptop repair shop! I also doubt the validity of the other reviews, most of which are 5 stars. Long story short, in my previous review of this place I explained that they failed to properly repair my DC jack. Well it turns out they didn't just fail to repair it, they actually caused extensive damage because they used a glue adhesive throughout. So glad I had another company assess the damage. Lapfix was unapologetic and actually tried to cover up the issues. Buyer BEWARE! They will see me in court. What a headache over a simple repair. read more

They did a superb job finding a new one and installed it. I really did not want to buy a new computer am very pleased to have it back--like new. THEY DID LITERALLY EVERYTHING WRONG. To preface, I'm an electrical engineering major with more experience in the computer building/repairing field than most people (and I suspect this place's employees). My girlfriend got a laptop back from these people a few weeks back (wouldn't boot and the battery connector had broken off). I did some basic testing and found the original issue to be a short, but didn't have the time or tools on hand to track it down and repair it myself. The battery connector was also an easy fix, it just needed some wires to link it back to the board. She said she got a text from them that "The battery partially worked and 4 keys on the keyboard no longer functioned", which when we got back home and tested it was a complete lie. The battery that they "fixed" was completely non-functional, and it wasn't 4 keys on the keyboard that were bad, but more like 12+. After being lied to about the damages, we made the 30 minute drive to take it back and have them fix it properly, only to have them hold it for a couple days and tell they wouldn't fix it because "it wouldn't turn on, now it does, so we did what we were paid for", even though the original quote was also for the separate battery issue, and the keyboard damage was caused by them. Just to add insult to injury, they also put the screws back in the wrong places when the were putting it back together leaving damage next to the keyboard, and also ghosted us whenever we asked what was wrong. When picking it up the second time, they also tried to BS us with complete nonsense that they thought made the keyboard thing not their fault (they said that because a USB keyboard would work it couldn't be their fault, which is so completely wrong I can't believe anyone whose ever opened up a computer could say it). tl;dr: They failed to fix both of the relatively simple issues we had, they damaged the computer worse than it went to them, they lied about the damage, they ghosted us when we asked what they did, and they refused to fix the damage they caused. If this can convince even one person not to waste their time and money here, I'll feel like I've done my job. EDIT: We just thought of checking the bottom of the laptop after getting it back the second time. They lost half of the screws holding it together. They were all there the first and second times it was given to them. EDIT 2: It appears like the number of dead keys is more like 20+ than 12+ as previously thought, last count has it at 21. EDIT 3: On further inspection, most of the screws that ARE there aren't even the ones this laptop started with. My guess is that they put in whatever random screws they had lying around and half of them fell out before the laptop made it back to us... This place is a piss-poor excuse for a repair shop... EDIT 4: Just pulled the laptop apart again for the first time since getting it back the second time, and this thing's nastyyy. They spilled thermal paste everywhere, lost some internal screws, taped things in place that they were too lazy to put back together properly, and didn't bother to clean off the flux after they were done soldering. Anyone who knows what to look for can tell these guys absolutely didn't care about the computer when they were working on it. read more

I can say that they weren't pressed to give me an estimate, even though they had my laptop in their possession, and when they did they were much more expensive than going to Apple. I live and die by my laptop. I use it for work, for play, for entertainment, for leaving yelp reviews. I'd had an intermittent wifi failure that suddenly collapsed in on itself like a dying star and trapped my poor machine in an infinite restart loop. Since I know more about breaking computers than fixing them, I decided to take it to Lapfix in hopes they could heal the thing. Once I was done panicking and swearing at it, that is. I dropped it off on a Tuesday and they let me know it would be a day or so before they called me with an estimate. They called the next day saying that reinstalling the OS would probably do the trick and quoted $75. It was ready the next day - the price was as quoted and my laptop was working again. There was much rejoicing. I rated them five stars because they were able to fix the problem for a very reasonable price in the time they promised. I'll be honest I thought I knew what I was expecting; Which was the worst. I spent $1500 dollars building my gaming laptop. Every other PC/LAPTOP repair shop had a diagnostic fee which costs anywhere from $50-$100. It's total garbage! I already know whats wrong with my laptop just fix what i tell you! Anyway, LAPFIX was AWESOME! Not only was their diagnosis free but they repaired a liquid spill that fried my systemboard and destroyed a memory stick. They fixed everything and threw that memory stick on the house in the fastest service i've ever received. The total bill came out to $195! i was mind blown. The diagnosis was complete in a day and that same day they call and tell you exactly how much it'll cost and how long it will take. They gave themselves a week but it got done in four days. I had a Macbook Pro and my hard drive died without warning. Apple told me that they couldn't get information on it, so I thought I had lost everything. I live near LapFix and noticed that they also do Apple products, so I took them the dead hard drive with the hope that even a tiny bit could be recovered. Very quickly, I got a response saying that they could get EVERYTHING off of it! They transferred everything to my external hard drive and had me verify everything prior to paying so that I was satisfied. It was also quite affordable. I'm planning on taking my other old computers there to have the information pulled off. They also recycle old computers. These guys are fabulous on two fronts! First they are honest. They won't charge you for advice or estimates and won't do any work that is not in your best interest. Secondly they are super reasonable. They fix my Samsung S3 twice. The first time they checked things out and said all I needed was a $5 USB cable. That worked out fine for a few weeks until the mini USB started acting up. A quick fix to the pins and I was back in business good as new. I'm a fan! read more

I have a laptop that suddenly up and died on me a couple months ago. First I bought a new AC adapter but that didn't help. Then I took it to a place I've been before where the service has been quick and reasonably priced. First they replaced the adapter input, which didn't fix the problem either. So he said he would try a different part in caser the first one was bad. Apparently that didn't work either. Then more weeks followed where I really don't think anything at all happened, either because he didn't know what to do or was afraid to buy expensive parts - which by the way I authorized. Eventually I went in and took the computer back. To his credit, he only charged me $10 because that was the cost of the part he replaced. Then I end up at Lapfix, Inc. You have to go upstairs in the corner of Foxchase shopping center and there is no sign per se on the door from the sidewalk, but it is above the florist. The very polite receptionist explained that I would have an estimate within 24 hours. They did call within 24 hours and said he would try to replace a part on the motherboard and that would be $225. If that didn't work, he would have to replace the motherboard itself and that would be about $450 for the part alone. But if it was the motherboard I would only pay the $450 plus labor, not the $225 for the attempted cheaper fix. It's a good laptop so I told them to go ahead. I picked up the laptop today and it was repaired by replacing some chip on the motherboard, so only $225. Kareem was very polite, informed me about what had happened, and also told me how to keep from putting stress on the hinge, as opposed to trying to sell me a new hinge. Overall, the repair was prompt and what I consider very reasonable, seeing as how he could have charged me for a whole new motherboard and how would I know? So I am a very happy customer and I would not hesitate to go back or recommend them to anyone who has a computer problem. read more
