So--I used to take my computer to Retro PC, for years, and when my laptop recently had some operating system issues, and I called them to make an appointment to have it fixed, I learned that they had closed their business. YIKES!!! So, I looked online to see who else was available, and found a few repair places close to Alexandria, where I live. I called a few and the only one that I was able to reach was LapFix, in the Foxchase Shopping Center. I needed rapid response, since I was trying to fulfill and invoice some very time-sensitive orders for a small business. Enter Michael. I took my laptop to him, and had very limited information to give him, but he was able to uninstall my current OS, and reinstall another version of the OS, and got me back up and running in a day! I was able to take care of the orders, everyone got their stuff, and all was good. However, somehow in all the OS issues and so on, my Office suite also got fouled up and I had to order a new product key, which my husband downloaded and installed (incorrectly) and I was still having issues! So, again, I took my poor old laptop to Michael and we got the product key re-sent to us, and he was able to reinstall Office and get my computer back to normal. All this is pretty great, and it speaks to LapFix's capabilities and professional work, but without Michael's care and understanding, this would not have had such a great outcome. And, while all this was gong on, we talked a lot about life, our lives, the world and how we live in it. I completely recommend LapFix, and Michael, for anyone who needs help with their computer (or other digital devices--one day when I was there a girl came in with an issue with her digital camera, and he was able to solve it in a couple minutes). We really do appreciate the job these guys did for us. They fixed my brand new m1 macbook pro that got liquid ALL over it. I mean really got everywhere. It was a mess! I spoke to Eric over the phone and he is very welcoming as usual. When we got there, we felt at ease when we were told they work on these issues all the time. Everything is done in house and they don't ship it off like other stores so they can work on component level as well as a variety of problems which we were concerned about the most. They were also very helpful during the whole process, communicate us with updates and took a reasonable amount of time to fix the issue. We also get a 3 month warranty! But of course we will have to be more careful putting our drinks near our baby! We have been coming here for about 3 years now and finally decided to leave this review. We are very grateful that this place is still here helping us even during what is going on in the world. Places like this are special as they offer top notch customer service and go above and beyond for us. We felt very special and warm the whole time. Long story short, my MacBook Pro had liquid damage. Brought it to lapfix. Two weeks later after the diagnostics, they determined that the logic board needed to be replaced. I gave them the ok to move forward with the repair. Two weeks after that, I called and the parts aren't in and I was told I will get a call back on a certain date. The call never happened. I called again, and their suppliers had a "bad" set of logic board and they're waiting for a new shipment and they'll let me know once it has arrived, call never happened again. Also, The logic boards are refurbished, not new. So I called back and the answer I get "you can either pick up your laptop and take it elsewhere, or we can give you another quote". I said I'll wait. Once I called again tom check status, I received the same answer. Not sure what that meant but as a business, your customer satisfaction should be your number one concern, regardless if you have to go with another supplier that may cost more. Keep in mind, this has gone on for more than a month and nothing was done. read more

One morning when I turned on my laptop only to hear a series of beeps and a blank screen I knew I needed help immediately. I first called the manufacturer but later decided to find someone locally since my warranty had lapsed. Fortunately, Lapfix listed my motherboard on their website as one of the systems they repair. I damaged the power jack on my Dell Insperion and it would not longer charge. I am an IT professional who used to repair my laptops before they become so compact and difficult to open. I visited them more than 7 times and every time they fix my machines. they ask you first if they can run a diagnosis and if there is any repair required they let you know first because they understand the basics of the business. they want to be sure you can afford the payment which is normal: they are a business and they must make profit but I challenge anyone to get the same service in another place with the same price or cheaper: impossible. If 10 stars were available, I would provide a 10 star rating. Last week, I dropped off an HP laptop that would not boot and had significant overheating problems. They had were able to backup all the data as my backup drive had also failed, fixed a software problem, and rebalanced the workload between the video processor and the main processor. Because of their excellent results with this laptop, I took a second laptop that a repair facility in Florida which concluded that it was impossible to extract the files from the failed hard drive. LapFix was able to extract all the files, replaced the hard drive with a 1TB SSD and their charge for the second computer was significantly less than the cost of a new laptop. read more

I had enough of Bill Gates and Windows, so wanted someone to put Linux on my laptop. Lapfix took care of it. Even though I am his only Linux customer, he provided full support when I had what I thought was an issue later (it was the Linux software update server was too busy, not the installation). Not only that, the PC was ready the next day, but I was at work till late and he offered to stay late for me so I could pick it up after work. I have not had a better customer service experience in the past several years than I had at this small business, it was quite refreshing. I had trouble with my Mac and took it in for repair. Outstanding communication throughout process by Kareem enabled me to make decisions about the extent of the work. In fact, he quoted me the repair, then upgraded the hard drive when I was unavailable to verify, then discounted to the original quote. What's up with that? I was so impressed I left a tip. I called LapFix for a data recovery issue. I was worried I might lose my data in my external storage. Eric offered me No Recovery No Fee over the phone and explained to me the process. I dropped off my storage and received a call withing 48 hours with a good news that they will be able to recover my data and the price was very reasonable. I authorized the repair and I was able to pick up all my data within 3 days. I am happy with their service and the techs they communicate through out the process. Great service and fast turn-around. Fair pricing and they warranty their work. I would recommend. I had my HP Omen 17 laptop repaired. It would turn on but nothing would happen. I could not even get into the BIOS. They figured it was a faulty data line and they repaired it. When I got it back, I upgraded to Windows 11 and the issue returned. I sent it back under warranty and they said my SSD went bad(probably during the upgrade). They gave me an SSD they had laying around and installed Windows 11 for free. I had Sony laptop and desktop both are dead. With this economy I did have the budget to spend too much. I called lapfix and they told me they offer no fix no fee .. This means if they can't fix it they will not charge me. Not only that but they will not fix it if I don't authorize it because they offer free daig. My 2 computers are running like it's brand new! My friend Sue W was decimated. All her pictures from her China trip on a key day visiting the Terra Cotta warriors were accidentally deleted from her SD card.
