I have been a satisfied customer for at least 10 years and have recommended many friends to the business, but I had a terrible experience at the Duke Street store on March 24. I was so angry I wrote to Karim the owner. He immediately contacted me and worked hard to resolve the issue. He worked personally with me to make it right. When he said he would handle the issue, he did. I'm glad I gave them a second chance, since I'd NEVER had a bad experience with them. I'm back as a happy customer now. Quick, easy, and wonderful staff. My iPhone 8 Plus screen was badly cracked, and within minutes I was signed in and my phone was taken for servicing. Best service ever....I was told by laptop manufacturer to send my broken laptop to best buy, and after going there decided to shop around. Lapfix quoted me with a cheaper price and was able to fix my issue 3 days earlier ( actually was able to pick up in less that 2 hours). Overall, they performed the service they promised at a competitive cost. Slight delays due to a poor quality part that was shipped (out of their control), but I respect that they identified the poor quality and rectified. The only drawback was a lack of updates on the progress of the parts ID, shipment, and expected date for completion. I contacted their website on a Sunday, Monday morning (on a Holiday no less), I was both called and emailed as follow up. I went into their shop and when I explained I'd be traveling and need it repaired within a week, Eric diagnosed the problem for me on the spot. The part was ordered expedited and arrived on Tuesday. Very unethical practices at this business. Patrons BEWARE! These thieving employees claimed to have "recycled" my very expensive MacBook Pro. Meaning there is no trace of it and it has been cannibalized for parts (probably sold). I live around the corner from the store and could have picked up the laptop had I received communication prior to said "recycling". I'm in the IT field and know that these scumbag employees or possibly the owner himself simply took advantage of a customer forgetting they had their property at the location. I got no call, no replacement, no refurbished MacBook Pro to compensate me for my property and loss of data, nothing at all for my $3K MacBook Pro. I got nothing but the back of the Manager after he refused to assist me. I reached out to the owner, listed as Abdulkarim Hussen (listed as Principal) and go no callback or offer to make the situation right. Karim was awesome - I'd go see Lapfix for any computer issues. I just moved and in setting up my computer found that things weren't working right. I called Lapfix at 2:30 on Sunday afternoon, surprised they were even open (until 4 on Sundays). I expected to hear "come by during the week," or "drop it off and we'll look at it and get back to you in a couple of weeks," but Karim troubleshot a few things with me on the phone, and when those didn't resolve the issue he told me to bring it by and he'd look at it. As soon as I walked in he popped the panels open, ran a few tests, fixed the problem, and cleaned the dust from the inside for me, and I was on my way in about 20 minutes for a very small fee. I asked about potential for upgrading the five-year old computer and he quickly, and without any sales pressure identified a few options to improve performance without rebuilding the entire thing. Karim was fast, friendly, and professional - some places treat you like you're not worthy if you aren't very computer savvy, but I really enjoyed my experience with Lapfix and will definitely see them again when it's time. read more

I took my ipad in for repair because it would not charge at the port. I had given my email address as part of the sign in. I did not hear from them as promised and when I called about it they said they could not fix it. After I picked it up I started to get hundreds of spam emails. I don't think they even looked at it and sold my email address to everyone. Do not go there. read more

I know where your business is located and just because I am an out of state resident doesn't mean that I can not use your services. When you have a customer coming to your business and is asking for assistance in finding the necessary part for a laptop through your business' supply chain...it does not require a $65 diagnostic fee. I know what is wrong with my laptop and I have already told your employee what needs to be fixed on it. Most business' would happily assist and find out if they can find the part by contacting their supply chain. To all new customers that are going to use this business, please note that this business will charge you $65 diagnostic fee no matter what. Please note that there are other repair shops in the area which will not charge a fee for a simple inquiry. Original Review: This place deserves no stars. I have been to other computer repair stores and they provide free estimates on your computers. This POS place does not do that. They charge you $65 for a diagnostic fee. Which is complete BS. I already know what is wrong with my laptop and I have told these guys that I just need the cover of my laptop replaced. Nothing is wrong with the laptop itself. No need to do a diagnostic on it. They told me that they will contact their source to see if they have the part to replace while holding my laptop as ransom. I asked them if it was necessary for them to hold my laptop since it's just the hardware that is broken. They said yes. When I didn't agree with their estimate on replacement, they charged me the $65 fee in order for me to get back the laptop. I also mentioned what they said in their reply, yeah they have more detail on the initial damage but most of my post is what happened after. UPDATE: They lost 2 of my screws and put in a screw wrong again because there are additional dimples go lapfix! LAPTOP FIX FAIL: I brought my laptop in to be fixed for a broken battery connection and a short on the motherboard (had the laptop quoted at other places like micro center and more before this). The laptop was about a year and a half old and I hadn't touched it for about half a year once it shorted out and wouldn't turn back on. Took it here to get fixed and half a grand later I end up with a laptop that they only half repaired. Said they "fixed" it where the laptop would turn on connected to a wall and stay on it unplugged, the battery would hold a charge but the percent wouldn't show on the display. Additionally, there would be four keys that wouldn't work, funny because there was no damage to the keyboard connection at all and they coincidentally couldn't figure out what was wrong and also offered around a 400$ replacement for it. The battery worked okay the first time I tested it out and wouldn't work again, the keyboard turned out to have around 15 keys that didn't work, not 4, and there were dimples on the case of the laptop because they didn't put the proper screws into the proper holes. I took the laptop back in two days later since their website says "90-day warranty for all parts and labor" and "replace any defective parts that were used during the original repair.". Turns out on the fine print of their receipt, not their website but on their RECEIPT after I payed, apparently it says "If device does not power when we receive it and we manage to power it up we are not responsible for any problems or error messages that may appear", so they wouldn't look at it again. Even through the original repair I specifically asked for them to fix the battery connection and payed for that as part of the repair "We can attempt the repair of the laptop for $465." After asking what amount that would cover the person said "We will be attempting to repair the motherboard itself and fix the battery connection" so I'm not really sure how their warranty doesn't count for that when it's covered in the price of the repair. This person also says later that the battery repair was a courtesy, "We did our best to repair that connection as a courtesy as part of the repair". So even though my original request was to fix the battery and see if they could turn the computer on AND they said repairing would be covered in the original price AND their website says there is a warranty for all parts and labor, they wouldn't take another look at the connection 2 days after I was given the laptop back. Oh, and my keyboard no longer works. I also got the laptop looked at after their repair it and it seems like there is damage to my secondary ssd slot which I may or may not be able to use now (which wasn't there originally since I got the laptop looked at prior to bringing it to them), also they just knocked a capacitor off and don't replace it and that was around 500 for. Anyway don't bring anything here, good luck on getting your devices fixed . (Also the guy wouldn't tell me what was wrong other than there was a short couldn't/wouldn't tell me anything else) read more

I took in my laptop because I saw 4.5 stars reviews and because I needed it back quickly since I use it for work. My laptop had charging issues and would turn off for no reason. LapFix gave me a $700 quote and told me they might not be able to fix my computer at all. I had to call them several times during a three week period because they did not reach out to me first. Finally, they stated the laptop was ready. I picked it up and paid over $500. The white tape I had on my computer, no one even bothered to take it off which got me wondering how they were able to open up the laptop. When I got home, I tried out my laptop and saw that it seemed the same issue was still present. After a week, the laptop was worse then ever. Given I did not believe LapFix ever even opened up my laptop at all, I decided to do my own research on the internet. Per my findings, my laptop had a battery issue. So I had to order a new battery and put it in myself. My computer is now working GREAT, but no Thanks to LAPFIX. Please beware! read more

I took my MacBook Pro in for a replacement battery and palmrest. I dropped the computer off at Lapfix on July 9th and received a quote for the replacement parts on 7/13. After hearing nothing from Lapfix for a week, I called 7/20 and was told my laptop would be "ready tomorrow." I picked up my laptop the next day. It went from the shop to my car and then from my car to my kitchen table. When I opened the laptop, I found a large pry mark on the lower part of the "replacement" palmrest. I immediately called Lapfix, who asked me to bring it in for them to look at. Upon arriving the three employees took the computer and disappeared into the back of the shop for five minutes. Two of the employees came back out and the manager(?) informed me that the large pry mark was somehow my fault. He insisted that they did not use faulty parts and that I had damaged the very thing I asked them to replace in the forty minutes it was in my possession. To be clear: this was not damage caused by the laptop being dropped or struck- it's clear something was wedged between the bottom of the computer and the palmrest. The manager(?) continued to insist that I had caused the damage; he did not offer to replace the faulty palmrest (or shoddy repair work) or refund my money. I was extremely disappointed by the lack of integrity and will be disputing the charge with my bank. read more

This place is great! My macbook pro randomly stopped working one day due to a failure in my SSD. I went to several places and was told that all of my data was gone and that my best option was to buy another laptop. I had years of data on that computer that was not backed up. I got opinions from Apple, Best Buy, and other local laptop repair stores and nobody gave me any hope. I tried LapFix as a last resort and I was told after the diagnostic that they could do an attempt to recover my data for $465, but that my chances were low. I decided to give it a try because I had nothing to lose. To my surprise, they were able to recover all of my data and get my laptop to start working again within 2 days! While they did say that my laptop could still break due to the circumstances of my SSD, so far I have been able to use the laptop without any issues and I didn't lose any data! Pretty annoyed with Lapfix. I called last week to confirm their policy on repair diagnostics as I have a computer with a wonky charging port and my work trying to determine if it's a repair or replace situation given it's age. Lapfix confirmed the policy on the website that there is no fee for them to assess the computer which I thought was very generous and perfect for my situation, so I was willing to drive a little farther to use their service. But then when I went to drop my laptop off and was filling out the paperwork, there is a $65 diagnostic fee listed in the terms and conditions. They then tell me their website is wrong, they are "working on updating it" and there is indeed a $65 fee if they diagnose the problem and you decide not to do the repair. While I totally understand the reasoning of this policy, if you spout false information on your website and over the phone, at least show some remorse for the error. There was no apology for the incorrect information on the website, no apology for me spending my time to come down after being told the wrong information, and no offer to waive the fee as it was their error. I probably would have been working to pay the $65 fee had they been up front about it from the beginning but I'll find somewhere else. took my non functioning iphone SE with a shattered screen in, 40 minutes later, walked out with my phone with a brand new screen, and it costed me only $xx dollars. Not sure if it's okay to publish the service price, but it's pretty ridiculously low, not only against competition, but also factor in cost of replacement screen, and labor/time cost, the cost/quality of service ratio cannot be matched! Do I expect my replacement screen was of OEM Apple quality (that's assuming Apple's asking price is backed by superior quality, right~)? at the price I was charged, absolutely no, nor do I want to spend that Apple-price on an old gadget that is my SE. I just wanted a replacement screen that meets my minimum expectation of quality (honestly can't tell any difference from original with normal daily use), cost effective and in an efficient manner so I could go on my regular daily life. Beware!!! Poor service. I needed a Macbook screen repair and decided to support a local business. After bringing it in the tech at Lapfix was given the standard "No problem, will fix it in a day or so for just few hundred bucks". Over a week and $450 later I finally got my laptop back. Only a few days later, the metal frame around the screen came unglued, and later I found that the built in camera no longer worked. I took it back after discovering the camera issue and asked Lapfix to take a look. They told me it was a hardware issue, I said "Ok you installed the hardware. I understand that I'm past the original guarantee of your work and can you please do the right thing?" Answer was; pay another $450!! Go elsewhere for you CPU repair needs! read more

Unfortunately, I've had a terrible experience with LapFix. I dropped my iPad off to replace a cracked screen on a Friday. They told me it would be done in a few days. Two weeks later, it was still not done, evidently they had to order a replacement screen. They never called to inform me of the delay, I had to call them to inquire. Finally, I got fed up and went to go collect the unfixed iPad so I could take it somewhere else. They would not give it back unless I paid them a $65 "restocking fee," for doing nothing. They never told me about this policy upfront and, in fact, have a sign in the store that says "No Fix, No Fee." Nevertheless, they would not give me back the iPad without me paying them the $65, even though they completely failed to live up to the expectations they gave me. Go somewhere else. read more
