My boyfriend has always told me that Lansky's has the best pizza in Omaha, and the other night he brought home his own personal idea of a sampler for me. I believe I had the chicken penne pizza, which was delicious. Great toppings and crust. I also had a wing (jerk sauce?) that was supposedly mild but was too spicy for me. (Yes, I am a wuss.) Lansky's has fantastic Philly Steak sandwiches, probably the best I've ever had in Omaha. This isn't Geno's in Philadelphia, but if you're in Omaha and not in the socioeconomic demographic where you can jump on a plane to get an authentic Philly anytime you want, Lansky's will suffice. We walked in skeptical but came out loving this place! This is a restaurant that Omahans frequent and I'm glad to have experienced it. To celebrate singles awareness day, a friend and I came here because all regular restaurants were booked up for the happy couples. Like most places I eat at, I found Lansky's through Yelp, and boy does the Yelp community deliver! This place is truly awesome. A no frills, no funny business, Italian joint this place serves up affordable, delicious straight up Italian. And I can't get enough of it!! You order up front, fill your own drinks, and get your own utensils, pack your own leftovers. All things you need are up at the front on a wall adjacent to the register. Such an efficient system. We both ordered the chicken parmesan and it came out piping hot smothered in gooey cheese. Needless to say, I devoured it easily. The entree also came with 2 pieces of garlic bread, which I didn't know so I ordered a side of garlic bread (6 slices for $3.20! Awesome deal) which wasn't a bad decision because it came with a delicious marinara sauce! My friend and I throughly enjoyed out meal and are already planning our next trip to Lansky's! read more

So, the key here is not to expect this place to be anything other than a great local spot for pizza. The ambience is very much a pizza place from years past. It reminds me of playing Little League and going out for pizza after the game. The bathrooms are far away. Parking is not super convenient. The salad bar is a little bit 1985. But, the pizza is really good. Also, you get a slice of just local people going out for a meal. There's nothing pretentious here. There is nothing fancy here. It's fountain drinks, iceberg lettuce, and pizza. This is a great place to go with a couple of buddies. read more

As a former employee and customer at both the 50th St and HWY 370 locations, this review goes for both. Lansky's serves cheap food that's about as well prepared as it could get. The food isn't terribly fresh, it's generally not prepared that day and it's certainly not made with the finest and most expensive ingredients. However, there is no pretense about it, and the food tastes good, so there is no reason to really mark them down for that. The reason I'm giving it three stars rather than four is that the food does have a unique taste to it. It's not hard to see why several of my friends think much less of the place than I do. The marinara sauce has an odd burn to it, and the philly cheese-steaks taste both genuine and mercilessly manufactured at the same time. Beer and mini-bottles of wine are available, though the selection is very limited. Prices are good, and the atmosphere is much calmer than you might expect a pizza-and-phillies joint to be. If you're looking to try a different kind of pizza than you get at your Pizza Huts and Papa John's (how the bloody hell do you make that plural?), then give Lansky's a try. read more

I have only done carry out, and it is still one of the best pizzas in Omaha. Great crust, bubbly toppings to the edge of the pie. Quality ingredients, and plenty of them. Plus they use a combo of mozzarella and romano cheeses, which can make a nice difference to the palate. One time my order did get messed up. Rather than give me a half sausage, half pepperoni. I ended up with all sausage. Fine by me, but my 12 yr old niece griped a little, oh well it was very good! Check out their frosted sugar cookies too! As an impulse I bought a black & white cookie at the register and it was to die for. Apparently they are in high demand because I've wanted them other times and they have been out. I grew up in this part of town, so when my family and I were trying to think if somewhere different for lunch, we came here. I was looking forward to seeing the old neighborhood. I was disappointed. The restrooms were dilapidated, at best, and there were bullet holes in the windows! The lettering on the windows was peeling off, and it just seemed dirty. When the food arrived, my philly was made with steak, even though I ordered chicken. Oh well. But my son cut into his cheese calzone, which contained mounds of perfectly shredded (not melted) cheese. The pizza my husband ordered was fine, as were the onion rings, but nothing special. Sadly, my trip to the old neighborhood was a disappointment. read more

I went in to pick up a to go order and NONE of the workers including the manager were wearing masks or gloves. I questioned the manager and he said they did not need to and there was a sign posted in the window and that was all that was required. Totally brushed off my concern. Obviously they are not concerned about public safety or their workers. So very disappointing and will not order from them for a while. read more

A few weeks ago I passed through Omaha, and whenever I do, I try to get together with a friend for a meal and conversation. This time we met at Lansky's because he had told me about how good their Philly cheesesteaks were a few months earlier. He ordered a traditional one, I ordered one with mushrooms and onions, and then added jalapeños. We both ordered them "giant" size and decided to share a large order of onion rings. It was a slow afternoon and took a bit longer than I expected for us to get our meal, but it wasn't obnoxiously long and the finished product was extraordinary and we'll worth it. When I ordered a "giant" Philly I was expecting something along the lines of a foot long sandwich. What arrived was in a standard oval fast food style plastic basket, but the roll inside solidly extended to the ends and was SO STUFFED with meat, mushrooms, onion, and jalapeños that it was near my impossible to pick up and eat! Not a bad problem to have. Once I got it picked up with both hands, I found myself taking one to two bites of filling before I even got to the roll and the cheese which was melted onto it. It might have been nice to have some cheese melted on top too, but the cheese melted into the roll is probably the reason why I was able to pick it up in the first place. The filling was SO juicy (and flavorful) that a roll without the cheese would have been impossible to pick up. Now I have never been to Philadelphia itself to have one there, but until I do, I will consider this the best I've ever eaten. read more

I went here for lunch with some co-workers on a Thursday for early lunch. I had a steak Philly and fries. The Philly was pretty good. I'm a sucker for hand cut fries. These were cooked perfectly with just enough salt. Kudos on that! I'm not huge on counter service, but with self-serve drinks it kind of helps. Went here to get lunch for the first time. I like the interior of the restaurant especially photos detailing Omaha's history. For my meal, I decided to order a meatball hoagie. The sandwich was generously-sized and came out steaming hot from the oven. The meatballs were solid but nothing extraordinary, the inside of the hoagie did get a little soggy from the sauce and wasn't as crisp as I would have liked. I have been coming here for years. Lansky's has the best buffalo chicken pizza in the city. Believe me, I have tried this flavor at all the pizza places around town. This is the only one that can rightfully call itself buffalo chicken. Other places try to put red onions or other bs on it or they don't put any real buffalo flavor or sauce on the pizza. Not here! Big pieces of chicken, lots of cheese, and spicy buffalo sauce. This is not for the weak. It has a really good kick to it! We always order a large so we have lots of leftovers to bring home. The Philly cheese steak was not very fresh and tastes bland and sweet at the same time. The salad bar... I called back and they put me on hold even though I was trying to explain that I was already waited and was hung up on. I have been going to Lansky's for 30 years, never a problem. Sunday my friends and family were in town for a high school graduation I convinced them Lansky's was the place to go. It was the worst experience I ever had in any restaurant. The tables were sticky and discussing. We asked three times to PLEASE WASH THE TABLES. All 5 tables were in this condition. Finally, after our food was on the tables they smeared the muck around our plates and 6 jumbo pizzas. We ordered and Alfredo pizza and received an El Fredo dinner. At this point my friends and relatives are telling me this is the grosses experience for everyone. $250.00 worth of food and everyone's unhappy. This was supposed to be cerebration. After setting for another hour the El Fredo pizza was handed to us as we walked out the door. I never thought this would ever happen at Lansky's. I have tried different locations, and have always been disappointed in the food, but thought I'd give it one more try today. Ordered a large Aloha pizza, without the Canadian Bacon (vegetarian here). It looked and smelled so good! And then reality - pieces that looked like pineapple, but absolutely no taste. Green rings that looked like green peppers, but no taste. Red sauce - again, no taste. And yellow/white gooey stuff that looked like cheese - but no taste. How do they do it? And at better than $27 for the pizza, one bowl of salad and a fountain drink, I expect a lot more! I am a sucker for local joints with a history, and this fits that bill nicely. Unfortunately I don't think I ordered the right thing. Their claim to fame is pizza and pasta, but I ordered philly sandwiches, both regular and Italian style chicken. The regular Philly was good, but they were pretty skimpy with everything except green peppers. It was not that flavorful either, pretty bland. The Italian style chicken philly was a joke, it should not even be on the menu because it is inedible. The bun was soggy and falling apart, the chicken had a sour off taste to it that was very unappealing, and it came out so steaming hot that I had to wait over five minutes to take a bite. Service was pretty slow too. I will need to return here and try the pizza and pasta to get a complete review. read more

Pizza was undercooked, soggy and exceptional greasy. The crust smelled of Cysco. The toppings were placed under the cheese and, hence, undercooked. The cheesesteak came on a semi-stale, loaf-like bun that reminded me of a bad church basement roll. It was anything but extraordinary. Neither offerings do anything to advance Omaha's culinary scene. The cheesesteak, in fact, is a bit of an insult to the great city of Philadelphia. We deserve better. If there was a 1.5 start option, i'd exercise it here. read more

I got a regular Philly and I'd be surprised if it was even a small had hardly any meat on it, 1/4 of the sandwich had no filling.
