The atmosphere was cool - nice view, and decorations, but it was hot inside. I wish that is was the same temperature as the outside. The appetizers and dessert and drinks were FANTASTIC. The entrees were not the best, scallops were not good, neither the steak. The fish and chips were decent. The service was slow, especially for the entrees. read more

GREAT SEAFOOD JOINT We started with the Clams Casino and for lunch had a Lobster Roll and the Broiled Medley of swordfish, scrod, & shrimp. Everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. This was one of our better meals on the Cape. Nicely washed down with a glass of Monterey County Carmel Road Pinot Noir. Lovely. read more

I have had a lot of great experiences here and a lot of not-so-great experiences here. That said, during the summer months you'll likely always find me here on a Friday after work sipping on a California. What's a California? It's a Greyhound with orange juice...fresh...squeezed...juice. That drink along with the view from the outdoor public dock are the two reasons I have become a regular here. Why the 3 stars then? Because the food is just...meh. And a lot of the obnoxious tourists and old money summer residents frequent the place for a nice sit down seafood dinner. That said, if you're looking for a nice, sit down, candlelit dinner to take your extended family to on vacation, this still might be your best bet for the area. For the younger, more adventurous, you're better off picking up a burger at Jimmy's across the street or for the foodie a burrito at Quick's Hole and bringing it back to the outside dock to enjoy it with your California. The dock is technically public, so bringing your own meal is fine. Unless you go before Memorial Day or after Labor Day and are strictly looking for a snack to go with your cocktail...they do 20 cent fish bites and wings which aren't quite so painful on the pocket. Go easy on those Greyhounds, their mixed drinks (in excess) guarantee the worst hangovers I've ever had...that's where the not-so-great experiences came from. read more

This place was very nice as it was right off the pier. They seated us right by the docks and we had a beautiful view of the water. The ambience was nice and the staff were very friendly. I ordered the lobster roll and my wife had the scallops. The lobster roll was very well prepared. The bun they used was perfect and it overflowed with lobster meat. My wife liked her scallops. We enjoyed our restaurant experience. Too bad we were visiting or we'd visit this place often for date nights. read more

LOVED THIS RESTAURANT! We stumbled upon this gem while visiting Woods Hole and boy did we get lucky. The view, the atmosphere was so cool, so Cape Cod! The clam chowder was the best we had all week and the Caesar was also amazing. We had the broiled seafood platter, oysters, all were excellent. Friendly service topped it all off-highly recommend! read more

I'm giving them three stars because their service is great from the moment you walk in, they are extremely accommodating and the wait staff is great as well...... Wish I could say more good things about food...... I think it's one of those restaurants that you gotta stick to what they do really well...... I had the brunch menu and it looked really good but when we got our food, the deep fried home fries we're so overcooked you couldn't get a potato, it was more like deep fried chips, The fritata was way overcooked. The avocado toast was extremely disappointing, instead of serving the avocado over some kind of artisan bread it was served over white bread that wasn't even toasted..... every entrée was served with a complementary fruit bowl, the fruit was a few days old. The pineapple was brown....... I'm not extremely disappointed because the price was really affordable, but for God sake it's brunch step up your game in the kitchen so that it's equal to the great service and staff. read more

After a long trip from NYC, we are finally on our last leg to Martha's Vineyard. Got to Woods Hole before 1pm just in time for lunch. Of course I used Yelp to look for a good place to eat while we wait for our 2:45pm ferry. Landfall it is. Fried calamari, fish and chips, lobster roll and fried shrimp. I ordered the lobster roll. Bun was toasted perfectly and had enough lobster meat to fill me up. The choice of sides were nice, I didn't have to settle for the usual greasy fries and got mixed fruits instead. Service was super friendly. Complimentary sundae for the bride to be was super nice. What's funny was everyone staring at us as we eat chat and laugh. I guess not so many Asian ladies comes their way. read more

Fantastic staff, better location and the best is the food. It's a must for every trip to the cape.

loved the food and excellent service. lobster savannah was to die for. never had it but incredible. great chowder. waitress was spot on.

I figured this place for a typical WH pitfall with high prices and subpar food, but it turned out to be really great. In fact, it's exactly what you hope for when you have dinner in Woods Hole: nice views of the ferry terminal, nautical decor, and excellent seafood prepared to suit a range of palettes. The seafood nachos were a creative and delicious combination of shrimp, scallops, havarti, and housemade chips. Stuffed quahog is as good as I've found, the fried clam strip roll was hot and heaping, and the lobster chive risotto was awesome. My only gripe is that the beer selection was pretty thin (nothing on draft that night). read more

We were extremely surprised by how good the food was here! Landfall is extremely busy but if you are willing to eat at the bar, there is barely any wait. R and I sat down, had our meal and the couple next to us just got seated (after waiting for more than 45 minutes) R had the Baked Stuffed Lobster which was VERY VERY good. Huge portions and the stuffing was very yummy. I highly recommend it. I had the Parmesan Crusted Broiled Seafood. I didn't expect much but the swordfish was juicy and extremely tender. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. read more

3.5 stars really. Like many, we ate here while waiting for the ferry. We didn't have high expectations, so we were pleased to have a really good lunch, albeit a pricey one. The lobster roll was very good (not too much mayo) and tasty, but at $25 it should be good! The ciabatta deli sandwich was good as was the BLT. Service was friendly and efficient so the overall experience was good. Nice ambiance with the doors open facing the water and lots of flowers. Not a go to place, but certainly nice to have when you're stuck for a few hours. read more

Monday nights during the off-season around Falmouth - few places are open. Always wanted to try it, but we hadn't had a chance - we were pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere is nice, rustic cape cod / fishing theme - though the buoys on the ceiling can go. The food was very good and our server was very nice and friendly. Sat next to the window - too bad it was too foggy to see much of the water. The chowder was very good - creamy with a good amount of clams. Loved dipping the toasted bread with oil into the chowder. Entrees included: fried seafood platter; broiled seafood platter; and seafood over pasta with newburg sauce. All were fantastic. Very fresh and well prepared. Yummm. Prices were on the higher end, but worth it. We'll definitely return. read more

Consumer beware. I made a reservation here on OpenTable where Landfall requires you to put a credit card down to hold your spot. That afternoon my wife felt I'll and with the spike in Covid we didn't think it was wise going to the restaurant. I called to cancel and the woman was very understanding. The next day I noticed my card charged $50. I called and complained and they said the manager would call me. No call. Had to contact my credit card and start a dispute. Total BS. read more

I come here every time I venture down to the Cape. Woods Hole is the best place to view sunsets and meander the narrow, winding streets after dark. As soon as you step into the restaurant, you can hear the lively chatter and boisterous laughter from surrounding tables. The place is usually packed, so try to make a reservation early! The romantic and very intimate ambiance is aided by the constant squeaking of the wood dock below you, which adds to the feeling of being at sea! It can't get much better than enjoying seafood and wine with good company at the best restaurant in town. A true gem. read more

I gave one star because our waitress was very good. But the food was REALLY bad. Went with a friend visiting from the city. She loves the view Clam chowder was essentially potato chowder. Not a clam in the cup. Fisherman's platter. Overcooked in dirty oil. All very dark brown - 3 scallops, 3 shrimp, 2 clams and 3 nuggets of fish. Along with burned fries. There are soooo many good seafood options in town and any of them would have done a better job A fish sandwich at McDonald's would have been better. I do not send food back. This would have been one I could have or should have. The waitress asked if I wanted a box for what I didn't eat. I said no. This was not even seagull worthy. And if you want a view. Eat anywhere else. Tuesday 7/7 530pm Then drive to the beach. read more

Had a great evening at Landfall. Can't beat the view and fresh seafood. We ordered clam chowder, oysters, friend calamari and grilled salmon. The entree comes with garlic bread, salad and one side. We really enjoyed the meal because they paced it very well. Everything was freshly prepared. Though we sat at the third role from the window, we still had a good view of the harbor. The decor was unique and fun. Very nicely spaced tables and chairs. The service was good. I always asked for water with no ice but servers hardly remembered. The server here DID! She filled my water with no ice the whole time. Definitely a classic Cape Cod restaurant that worth a visit! read more

Me and a couple friends were here for dinner the other night. We had never been to such a cool little hang out restaurant. I hardly write a bad review for any business but I have to do it for this restaurant so everybody will know to stay away from it. I worked as a server for several restaurants before and I can really empathize with restaurant staffs who must endure with pressures coming from the kitchen, the management and the demanding customers. I never pay less than 20% regardless of how bad the service is. However, this time is not the case. We came in as a large group of 15 adults and some kids. I know our party was big and it would take longer for food to come out, but we did not expect it to be more than 1.5 hour. The food came out cold, overcooked and DIRTY. I couldn't express enough how disappointing it was to have a dead fly on my sister in law's salad plate. Apparently they took that place off the bill, but didn't offer to get her something else to eat. Some folks in our party got so frustrated because no one gave a dime about us came out to check on us or said sorry. The bill was automatically included 18% service charge. One of my friend ordered a clam chowder for someone at home and she had to pay 18% of service charge for that togo order as well. We are definitely not going back there, and hope someone who sees this consider wisely if it is really worth to give it a try... Stay away!!! read more

Wood Hole's Premiere Waterfront restaurant! This is THE place for the best waterfront dining in the area. We had dinner on one of their busiest summer nights during the film festival and the staff was on point! We tried several times to park in the validated lot and it was full with an exasperated attendant. I called to cancel the reservation and Chloe at reception was our parking angel! She said to just pull right in front of the restaurant and give her the keys no problem! Not too long of a wait and we were seated at the most romantic spot in the restaurant. Our server Dori was excellent, very friendly and super efficient. They even crafted a cocktail that I like that was not on the menu. Speaking of which the Portuguese break and butter is to die for! The salads were cold and crisp. My hubs Swordfish was delish and my Broiled Scallops with roasted tomatoes, feta cheese & black olives was yummy. The place was packed and even as we were leaving our table, any server that passed by us wished us a good evening. You could tell that the management has taken the time to train their staff in a good way because even though it was a crazy busy night, they were all happy! Kudos to the team! read more

We had a rotten experience at the Landfall last night. It was our 35th anniversary and we were taking our family out for a special dinner. We made the reservation days in advance and requested a table for 6 by the water. When arrived, on time, we were told that there was a "long wait" for a table by the water, and were stuck in a booth in the back. We then waited over 10 minutes for anyone to come to the table, even with water. When the waitress finally came we noticed that a table for 6 by water had opened up and asked if we could switch...the answer was no. Things only got worse when the food came -- the fried food was overcooked/burned, the broiled scallops were swimming in what tasted like fake butter, and the salmon was cooked to an unrecognizable dry pink slab with something that looked like charred spinach on top. We would have choked our mediocre (at best) and overpriced food down in better spirits had the staff been more accommodating or even remotely friendly. We're from the area and have eaten at the Landfall before -- but not again. read more

My partner and I had our Rehearsal Dinner at the Landfall in October 2022. We worked with Georgianne and our experience was amazing. The appetizers and main courses were amazing, the staff was super friendly attentive, and they were very accommodating for the kids in attendance. Still great. Just had the freshest seafood for lunch at this lovely Woods Hole restaurant. We both had the seafood combo because we wanted everything. It was lightly breaded, perfectly cooked and very hot. The French fries were good and so was my Mac salad. Very simply dressed as was the coleslaw. Still cool for me, but there were people on the dock. We enjoyed watching the boats and the construction at the ferry terminal. Big changes. Service was good. It always is. They seem to be well trained and never complaining. They cooperate and management is present and helpful. read more

The grilled tomato cheese sandwich was the best among the dishes ordered, and that's saying a lot at a seafood restaurant. The lobster roll was cold and bland, the swordfish burger was mediocre. This is clearly a very popular place. Our wait was only about 15 minutes on a beautiful sunny day in early October. The wait outdoors in the sun was the best part of the experience. One sip of the watered down iced tea, that was similar to dishwater, and it was given back to the server. We were still charged for it. The lobster roll was meh. The lobster was stringy and mealy. Being used to delicious Maine lobster rolls this was truly disappointing. The interior, if not seated by a window, is dark and gloomy. Was these Sunday 9/4. Food was average at best, not bad but at $40+ for entrees, my expectations were a bit higher then what they delivered. Including a salad with your entree felt very dated as well as serving the entree in the same metal tin that it was cooked in, which was then just placed on a plate (0 out of 10 for presentation!) And finally, we were lucky enough to be seated at table next to an open window looking out onto the water. I don't know if the docks/slips just outside the windows are owned by the restaurant but if they are, they REALLY shouldn't allow people to smoke there. Nothing spoils even an average dinner like the smell of cigarette smoke. Overall, for the money spent, I would have much rather dined at any one of several other places in Falmouth or Mashpee. read more

Views are wonderful, but not the food!. Lobster roll was on spongy wonder bread type roll. Lobster meat tasted defrosted. Lobster bisque came room temp and not as tasty as canned. We sat down at a beautiful table overlooking the water with a great breeze. The tables were far apart and we felt very comfortable. Most of the meals were good but the steamers ($22) were horrible; they were mushy and cold. When we told the waitress, she was apologetic but did nothing to help make up for it. Overall, would recommend if you get a scenic seat but avoid the steamers and don't expect any compensation if things aren't up to par. read more

Visiting from out west and craving good sea food and was super pleased with the Cajun style sword fish and stuffed lobster. There were at least to vegetarian options (one entree and a veggie burger on the "lighter side" menu) so even the vegetarian in our group wasn't starving with a house salad. The atmosphere was great and our party of 6 was lucky enough to be seated right by the window looking out at the Atlantic. Our server was very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Landsfall is one of those landmarks on the waterfront of Woods Hole that makes every tourist have fears of missing out if they do not allocate one of their precious vacation meals to it. For the money you pay, Landfall falls short. You enter landfall by walking through a small front yard with casual seats for the sun soaking cool dudes and stepping on roads paved with crushed seashells. It was definitely not as satisfying as crunching leaves. It felt more like breaking the exoskeletons of roaches. Sorry. For our party of 10, there was a wait time of 30 minutes. There is a bar for those who want to stand around to wait. Meal: 1) Stuffed Quahog. This was actually my first time eating a stuffed quahog so I have no reference point. It was very bread-y with a macaroon texture and no taste of seafood. Just... buttered bread. 2) My entree was the grilled salmon (you can choose to have it smoke char-coaled) The filet was a small piece. It was extremely dry and fibery and gave me bad memories of eating deli rotisserie chicken. The dry kind. It came with a side of french fries, which of course is always goddamn tasty. 3) The biggest tragedy of the evening was the filet mignon, ordered medium rare but came medium well (2 temperatures grades above). This poor moo-cow's soul is forever without rest as her meat, the very last contribution to this cruel world was just as displeasing as her life. It was absolutely tasteless and took extra effort to chew through. My friend had to get help from steak sauce. He never had steak sauce. The one thing Landfill has going for them is the wonderful ambiance. You could stroll around and marvel at the treehouse-like architecture with buoys and anchors hanging down from the ceiling (I chose to sit under a buoy. Just in case). There is even a balcony for those waiting for food to stroll and take in some seaside view. Well, fine. Two things. The service was wonderful, despite the small awkward moment when the waitress forgot who got what. And they added a 20% gratuity despite the menu claiming 18% for our party size. read more

Landfall is celebrating 7 decades in the Cape community. It exudes character with its nautical atmosphere, and one can watch people setting sail or anchoring down along their pier. To add to the fun, one can watch the Martha's Vineyard ferry up close, maneuvering itself carefully among the pleasure boaters, fishermen, oceanographic researchers et al. Landfall has challenging parking- it's best to use public transportation or be within walking distance. While the salads are OK (the mushrooms&cucumber looked a little, vintage), they make a great Seafood Newberg in a rich sauce. It was odd to see some folks chowing down on sliders&burgers, when Landfall's selling point is its local seafood, freshly caught from the Atlantic. They make a great cobbler with ice cream, and one can request smaller portions. A fun little spot with charm. read more
