Ambience: was great it overlooked the water is a very spacious atmosphere. It has like a old school feel with the wooden chairs and the wooden bar Service: was greeted Timely and seated properly it took a little while for the waitress to come over even though they were fully staffed it seemed like she may have bitten more than she could chew or they assigned her too many tables because the other waitresses were being laxidasical. So it wasn't for her for we were easily able to identify that she was working a lot of tables as to why we didn't get service as promptly as other areas. Food: food was pretty good I wouldn't recommend the lobster bisque for I was expecting being in this area to actually see chunks of Lobster in my lobster bisque but it was more broth than Lobster so I was a little bit disappointed for I was looking forward to some very fresh lobster bisque. The other options that we have tried was cheeseburgers and just American eats which you can't really go to wrong with that The only reason why I gave this place four stars is that where they set us it was blocking another table and the seat itself was just like a wooden log no cushion no back so sitting on something like that for an extended period of time trying to enjoy a meal is in my ideal of fine dining. And base were our table was sitting it appeared that the booth that we were blocking there were two couples that came and tried to sit there and they just couldn't take how congested that area was so they were receiving both times. I think that if we're going to sit on wooden logs maybe attached cushion to them but overall a great place to take your family are a group or business partners

We almost didn't eat here because of the three star average rating on Yelp. I gave it 5 Stars to bring up the average. It was probably 4-4.5. Everything was very good and the service was great. The homemade pimento cheese and crackers is a must. The Rueben Eggs rolls were exactly what you'd expect.

First time at this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. Located right near the water, the service was good as well as the food. My husband and I shared a Caesar salad and the fish and chips plate. Parking is hard to get though with so many restaurants and tourists though.

Dinner last night with In-Laws, Wife, and her Cousin, ended up at Captain Kidd in Woods Hole, we all got Clam Chowder and Cheese Burgers with Fries, everything was delicious and what a great View of the Water too

What'a trip to Woods Hole without a dinner at the Kidd? Not much, so we did it yet again. Very quiet night, Cool and damp, and midweek done that before. But this year much more quiet, Most of the other restaurants are no longer open full time, fewer than before Covid which was hard on my hometown downtown eateries also. So not a surprise. He had one of our traditional dinners here, the mussels. As good as ever. Most of the rest were fried options and thought I used to love most of them, I really an not supposed to anymore. So the mussels were a nice thing to have. And the tasty garlic toast. My husband had a beer and I had the Fruit Runner Cocktail. We shared a dessert and happy to do so. We will always return to the Kidd, unless they change it dramatically. There was a nice fire in the center and still the gorgeous view of Eel Pond out the window. And always a responsive server.

We rode our bikes on the shining sea bike path and stopped here for lunch. Great seats right on the water - very relaxing! Fish tacos were amazing as was the calamari! Service was very slow. Our waitress said she got pulled in to bartend and didn't have a chance to check on her tables. We would definitely go again though.

Beautiful views. Had a wonderful glass of wine. Wanted more but waitress never returned. Maybe they don't check on people who don't order food? I came here with a plan to work and sip wine. At the moment my wine glass is empty and my water is on the way. I've been working at different restaurants the last few weeks. Some places I had food and drinks. Other places just drinks. So far this is the only place where the waitress didn't even check to see if I wanted anything else. It's crazy too because I came here for the final Celtics game a week or so ago and the bar was packed but my glass never went empty. The bartender checked in. I had several drinks and when I was finished but my friends were still drinking he still kept my glasses filled with water. Amazing experience. Today. Meh! So because of that waiter I'll give two stars. 5 star service on my last visit. 0 stars today.

Fabulous views. Fabulous food. Fabulous service. Everything about the Captain Kidd is utterly delightful. The views are breathtaking and eating on the water on the dock is so much fun! The food was absolutely scrumptious! I loved the pan seared scallops and risotto! I also got a delicious cup of Chef Franks homemade chowder! It was to DIE for! I enjoyed sharing my oyster crackers with the many ducklings off eel pond! Highly recommend! I will definitely be back!

A really nice place right on the water. We were able to sit on the patio for lunch and we had a big group (9 people). Our server was really great and attentive. I had the fish tacos which were delicious. The chipotle aioli really made the tacos. You were also about to get them broiled instead of fried. It was a really good experience.

This restaurant gets super crowded in the summer, but not too terrible. The outdoor and patio seating has really great views of the water. I got the lobster roll here and it was pretty good! Definitely more of the cold lobster with mayo vibes.

We enjoyed a great lunch on the patio overlooking the pond on a sunny and warm November Saturday afternoon. I had a very good kale salad with grilled shrimp. Service was fast and friendly, we'd like to come back for dinner.

Stopped by for lunch - there is outdoor seating right on the water. My partner said the dayboat tacos (fish tacos) were fantastic, and the chipotle aioli that came drizzled on top was incredible. The service we received was great - our server repeated our order back to us to make sure every little detail was correct.

Good seating outdoor. Dog friendly, however fisherman's platter $32 overpriced and smallest plate ever. Staff were helpful.

We got both fresh offerings of oysters to start.- so good. For beverages, I had a Maine IPA & Kate had a pear pressure. We really enjoyed them both. Kate got the Seafood Pot Pie. The good news is we try each others meals. An absolute home run! The scrod, lobster, scallops and shrimp were perfect. Add in Newburg sauce asparagus and spinach, top it with a puff pastry to soak up the sauce-10 out of 10. There is a reason it's a house favorite. I had the baked seafood trio. Shrimp, scrod and scallops, with baked potato and asparagus. 2 u-15 shrimp, 3oz of fresh Chatham scrod and 3 local scallops, done in a lemon beurre blac. A small portion of each but delicious. The baked potato was just like you would hope. Asparagus was underdone, by our tastes, but not knocking the rating over that. Overall 8/10. Will try the blackened mahi mahi next visit. Kate's not budging from the seafood pot pie Our server Taryn was nice and busy. They have runners who are all over the place. Owner? out picking up plates and checking every time to make sure we were happy. Nearly half of my life was spent in the front of the house-that's how I treated every person I encountered in my establishments. This place was crazy busy. Every server, food runner, host etc had a genuine smile. Customers were happy, among them, many locals. Our take; if you are here for a few days or a while, make it a point to enjoy a meal here. Pretty confident you'll be happy you did.

In my experience one can tell a lot from a restaurant's name. With cliche names like "Quarterdeck," "Fisherman's Catch," etc. it's almost guaranteed to be average at best. I don't know why but it's usually true. I got a clam roll which turned out to be a mistake. I got it because I wanted a smaller portion than the platter. But the clams were oversized for a roll and too few in number so it was hard to eat. Good for a platter but for a roll, smaller clams and more of them would be better. But the clams though were fresh, cooked correctly, and the batter was decent, not outstanding. The roll was toasted and buttered, and a small lettuce leaf completed the sandwich. My biggest complaint was the tartar sauce, homemade, which was a disaster. Tasted of little more than plain mayonnaise. Unfortunately the fries were almost room temperature. I wasn't going to say anything but when the waitress came by and asked I told her. She apologized, took them away, and returned with a new platter of fries, a very large portion, and scaldingly hot. I was no longer so hungry but ate a good fraction of them, as leaving them after she brought a replacement just seemed rude. They weren't very good though; greasy and the oil didn't taste fresh. To drink I had a "mocktail" version of a Moscow Mule. It was way too sweet. Without the bite of alcohol it needed something else to tone down the sweetness. It wasn't cheap either. I should have just had a plain ginger ale. I would recommend trying someplace else instead. Lots of choices in the area.

No one else serves a spicy lobster roll like this, with tomatillo salsa and spicy mayonnaise mixed in with a generous serving of lobster meat on a butter toasted bun. Barking Claw's rolls are extremely affordable compared to most of the overpriced and forgettable lobster rolls you'll find elsewhere in the region, and, like an authentic cape lunch spot, they offer Cape Cod Potato Chips as an add-on. My family are diehard fans of Barking Claw, typically buying one of the first lobster rolls of the season and we're some of the last customers before the cold weather arrives. So we were delighted when Tom accepted our proposal to cater our rehearsal dinner in my parents' backyard in August. He set up in our driveway and he and his staff served our 50 guests all the spicy and regular lobster rolls they could handle, in addition to stuffed quahogs (a New England favorite) and a delicious selection of salads and side dishes we worked on together to come up with. He even found a way to include the previously retired salmon-bacon BLT sandwiches on the menu. Barking Claw has become a Cape Cod staple, so go see what all the hype is about!

We appreciated the creativity of the roll, you don't find a lot of places on the cape trying to be different. We were on the cape for the summer and wanted something different. This was the 6th lobster roll we tried during our summer. This is more like a stand that you would find at a festival. I knocked a star off for the setting. I've come across a lot of these food stands all over the US, and they try the make the best of their low budget location and try to make a cute outdoor seating experience. They have one picnic bench, and the some more seating at this random building right by with rusty chairs. Some folks like us traveled an hour from another place on the cape to try this roll, us Chatham. We aren't taking it home, and had to eat it there. Wasn't any effort made to have outdoor seating. No table settings, lights, streamers nothing. Just one park bench. The roll itself is good, not the best but good and creative. It isn't spicy at all, more like a ketchup mayo on top. The celery dressing, gave it a nice crunch. The lobster is pre-measured in saran wrap. I get that for controlling your cost, it's just a cheap look to watch. Just have a scale and measure there. We got the roll pretty quickly as there wasn't much of a line on a Saturday in July at 11:30. I appreciated the creativity. I think this place could be 5 star with some tweaks on the roll and the setting. I think they could even add some more unique rolls. I want to give it a 3, but I just can't with it being a small business. I think they are on to something that people want a unique approach to a lobster roll. Worth a try, but I wouldn't stress it at its current state.
