We lived very near here in 1981 when Shuckers first opened. We did not go that year as we had a newborn and a toddler back then and were on a tight budget. But as we came back on our own to visit over the years, it has become our favorite seafood menu in Woods Hole. For many years we used the family friendly, student friendly, fried food classic down the street, but no more. It's always Shuckers for us. We were in town all morning, shopping and eating at our traditional brunch place not far from the Ferry Dock, which is always crowded, but still wonderful. Before we went back to the Woods Hole Passage Inn for a rest, we stopped in to make a dinner reservation. We were pleasantly surprised when we learned it was the Twin Lobster Special night. This classic steamed lobster dinner was at a special price this night, the same price they normally serve the single lobster tray. When we arrived for our dinner, they sat us on the floating patio barge docked at the edge of the dining room. We had seen it on a windy night the last time we were in town. I had watched it sway and bob while people were eating and swore I would never take a seat there myself. But tonight, on a beautiful, calm evening just before sunset, we accepted the challenge, and I am glad we did. There were ducks paddling along the edge and a beautiful view of Eel Pond. We ordered the special. Two whole steamed lobsters, corn on the cob, mussels, and roasted potatoes. We also ordered a beer for my husband and a strawberry lemonade spritz for me. We asked for a second tray to split the food. I cannot imagine one person eating the whole meal but we saw other diners doing so. The servers were fun and efficient, and the diners around us were enjoying themselves too. By splitting the trays, we had room to do all the cracking and peeling. The lobster was so fresh and it was the best we had on this trip. And amazingly, we were full at the end, saving just a little room for dessert at the restaurant down the street where we had our dessert last time. Shuckers does not do desserts at all. But later when we went down the street, the restaurant we had planned was closed. Apparently, even in high season, they only serve 4-5 nights a week and our night was not one of them. At least, we saved on calories and we had more time left to walk around the pond and take pictures of the sunset. read more

We primarily had dinner there for their cherry stones . No one on the cape seems to offer them. RI seems to offer them at every seafood restaurant. Be that as it may they were terrific. However the night not so great mainly because they had a wedding reception there and the owners still felt they could conduct business as usual. Well the kitchen was too small and not enough cooks. This place has the win for the view. And the service was good. We had reservations for 6pm and were seated on "the barge". By far the best seating in the place. The food was expensive and the drinks disappointing. The Bloody Mary was small and not spicy .. although it should have been given it was marketed as such. The olive was just an olive sitting on a toothpick. The sangria "special house blend" tasted like fruit juice and the garnishment left me puzzled. The fish and chips were $26 (I substituted veggies for the fries, no up charge).. I had expected to not be able to finish it. It was small. Well prepared but small. The lobster Mac n cheese was $29... and just ok. The little necks were $2.50 each and not even shucked off the shell- he had to pull it off with a knife. Service was excellent so no complaints there. We rolled in with 4 adults and two kids under 3 near closing time on a Saturday and had a delightful, fresh, well-priced meal served by a great, accommodating, friendly team. I'm visited Shuckers many times. The food is always delicious. The drinks however are terrible! Very weak and awful. Tonight four of us came for dinner and all four of us had the dayboat scallops. They were delicious. Can't complain about the meal at all. However, one of us had a bloody Mary, which took forever to come out from the bar and he said it was "blah". Not our waiters fault at all. It was the bar. One of us (me) had a so-called martini which I can't even remember the name of it, but it had pineapple juice in it and maybe a splash of grenadine and I don't think there was ANY alcohol in it whatsoever. It came out in what I can only describe as a juice glass in the shape of a martini glass. Not a stemmed martini glass as you would expect and want a martini in but this short stubby small glass. I love martinis in general. Its what I usually order out at dinner but This was the worst martini I have ever had. Not a martini! I think it was pure pineapple juice. I didn't even finish it as it was just too sweet and gross. I have in the past got Shuckers smash or the painkiller, which are always very weak as well. So I thought I would give this martini a try. Awful. Don't bother. I can't say enough about how delicious the food is, but somebody needs to learn how to bartend and learn how to make good drinks so you can walk away saying you felt like $16 was worth it for a martini. I want to be able to taste some alcohol in my martini! It's a martini after all. On another note, our server Hugh was awesome. He was kind and attentive in every way. Kudos to him. Keep up the good work with the food but PLEASE learn how to make a good drink worthy of what you charge for it! Next time I'll just have water. read more

Shuckers is a wonderful place for great seafood in a perfect location down a cobblestone alley to the waterfront. You are right on the harbor with the boats. Tuesday twin lobster specials are a great deal. I can't imagine why some people would complain about the floating dock seating. How fantastic to be right on the water! Ok I took my wife for our wedding anniversary to shuckers and the appetizers were really good so I order a watermelon margarita and I don't know why tasted like cucumber and water anyways after that I order one of the "PINEAPPLE MARGARITA " was supposed to be the best in town I don't know but tasted just like cucumber margarita but worse. So whoever was at the bar please get somebody else ASAP and my wife got a not alcoholic drink and she told me that didn't tasted good so that was my first and last time at shuckers. Post-covid era visit - outdoor seating, with staff wearing face masks. Touchless menu was a nice touch -- you can pull it up online using your phone camera. Tables were decently spaced out. The calamari was nice, but we missed the fact that it had fried pickles/peppers in there, so that was an unexpected surprise. The clam chowder was nice, although not the best I've ever had. The hot lobster roll is basically lobster with butter on a toasted bun, and it was delicious. The French fries that came with it, were also well done with a slight crisp to them. I would visit this restaurant again, and try the oysters on our next trip to the Cape. read more

Spring into summer and autumn is the time to visit this area. So you can enjoy the outside dock seating, with boats and ducks on the water. The staff is like family, all happy smiling people even in the heat. Say yes to the lobster roll and try the variety of oysters, to find your favorite. A MUST is a hot lobster roll with butter on the locally baked light and fluffy rolls. Perfectly portioned and definitely the star of the show. Lemonade was my choice of drink and recommended, but they do have a full bar and some good beers. Maybe do a bike ride through New England to work up the appetite for all that is good. We've gone to Shuckers for years (previous owner). The view is great and the service was spot on, our waitress was extraordinary. Drinks are great. Last night our dinner was fairly dissapointing though :( Appetizers: -Quahog was clearly not made from clams, strange. Dinner: -Baked scrod was obviously frozen and was flavorless with an odd liquid. What a nugget !!! Looking to eat dinner by the water, we went to Shuckers. They were on the Woods Hole Harbor, took reservations, and we were able to get a 5p table ( Wed night ). Our waitstaff ( Sara) was lovely! And she comped our stuffed quahog as it was so "baked" that we couldn't get it out of the shell). Our dinners were baked lobster with mussels/steamers/corn, and the baked haddock stuffed with lobster, substituted a sm Caesar salad, and everything was scrumptious!!!!! Aw, shucks. Shuckers, famously highlighted on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" has closed for the season. In season (they open around Memorial Day), they have a pleasant view of the marina&Eel Pond. In the off season, everything is packed away. It's the perfect place to be on a humid summer day, with a cool strawberry cocktail. Their fish tacos with fruit salsa are OK. They're appetizer size (and on the app menu), so don't treat them like a meal. Their cocktails are on the sweet side. The service varies, from inattentive (like the socializing hosts),to a waitress who genuinely cared about the whole experience, to the somewhat prickly&grouchy bartender. What the shuck? And when walking into this place you feel like this has an opportunity based on the view of the boats. That's where it falls apart. The staff is poorly trained on the menu/bar and the kitchen executed horrifically I'm pretty much everything. I found it very weird when our waitress had to shuck our table oysters versus having a shocking station that somebody was responsible for, which delayed anybody needing anything. Again, once the food started coming out, it was not good. For example, the tuna bowl was pretty much frozen tuna and frozen rice with a sprinkle of seaweed salad. Oysters were absurdly fresh, shrimp cocktail by the shrimp was fresh and what one would expect, and fine dishes also available.
