The convenience of this spot to Craigsville beach is its greatest asset. The food is just OK. The lobster roll is not worth $30. I do regularly spent $30 on lobster rolls so it's not about the price, it's just not great. Mine was sandy with very little meat, on the rubbery side. And they don't do butter, even on the side. They do have a decent tasting lemon mayo situation but it just wasn't good to me. read more

Great place ! Went for breakfast since the hotel we are at is a 1 minute walk. It's outdoors across from beach. $18 for 2 people to have a decent light breakfast. The service was excellent too. Friendly!! read more

We had multiple food items that were great. I NEED to tell the world how amazing their fried clams are. Lightly battered, sand free and SO SWEET and fresh!! 3 of in my group staying next door eat clams and we all had the same opinion. So much that we had them for breakfast at 10 am the next morning!!!!! The tartar, Cole Slaw, fried fish, and homemade potato chips were all above average too!! See you next summer! read more

Update: Finally did sneak in under the wire to try their "deep fried" hotdog and a cherry ice. The hotdog was super-meh! Yes, it was all-beef, no natural casing tho, no grill on the bun that I could tell, and it was just so small and boring for the cost. Sad. I liked their cherry Italian ice tho, not gonna lie, it was generous and tart and sweet and reminded me of ices my grandma used to buy me. Normally go to the barnacle and have fabulous experience. Great food and worth the wait. Tried the Barnacle Too and not such a great experience. Tried to add mushrooms and forgot to get them from the vendor then tried to order a salad. Same answer. Finally ordered a steak and cheese on a wrap and it came out as grill Seattle shavings on a dry roll. They really need counter help and prep help. Could understand if it was May, but it's late June. Best hot dogs around. Perfectly buttered buns. We come every summer and we look forward to eating here the most. If your a person who likes service and wants to eat fancy then move along. This is a fun little place to get a great beach snack. They get 5 stars for their category. Which I am calling the beach snack category. The buttered bun is really what puts them over the top. The food here was AWESOME! I was expect really nothing special-- food in a great location-- but I got much more. The fish and chips were awesome. The fish was really exactly how it should taste crisp, fried, big piece of fish. Then the fries were just a little bit soggy- how all the best "chips" are. SO and friend got cheeseburgers and loved them. I can tell you these aren't just some rinky dink fast food burgers they were real burgers for $6. The Barnacle is great place to grab food on the beach. The fries are really, really good as well as the soft serve, but that's about it. Burgers are dry and the seafood doesn't come out right. Still, its cheap prices and proximity (right across the street) to Craigville beach make it an excellent place to get a soda and fries and chill on the beach. Definitely come here instead of the Snack Shack next door, unless the line is too long. read more

As with most beaches on the Cape, if you're looking for something to eat you'll probably have to choose between Ma and Pa's Clam Emporium or a rusty vending machine. At Craigville Beach, you have The Barnacle. This place survives purely on monopoly alone, the service is tragically slow and the staff are either hungover or sunstroked because it should never take 35 minutes to make a hotdog. I mean seriously, it's a freaking hotdog. Lobster rolls are moderately priced at $14 and the chicken fingers are good at $6. Get your drinks across the street at the vending machine, they're half price and ice cold (unlike the warm Coke you'll get here). Beware of the sign that says they sell ice cream- they acually don't and you'll end up disappointed after 20 mins in line! There is a place next door that sells ice cream and other food and the line looked long too, not sure about the service and wait time. We'll be bringing a well-stocked cooler next time! read more

Food is ok, location is fantastic. Been here several times while working in the Cape for the summer. The food is decent not great. I was a little disappointed with the fish and chips, not much fish for the price. The bbq is good but a little dry. I like the french fries, they were alway hot. I go back because it is close to home and the location is right next to the beach. Food is always better when you can put your feet in the sand. read more

Great service and beach side food. Misunderstanding when ordering-- thought we ordered a slice of pizza, when we actually hadn't--- we said nevermind because we had already ordered enough food. Three minutes later they brought us out two slices on the house. What great customer service! This was at the barnacle too. Will definitely be back. read more

Literally the worst service I've EVER experienced. Not only slow, buy incredibly rude too. They don't give you your drinks with your food, so you stand outside baking in the sun while you wait forever for food that should take 10 minutes to make. After waiting 45 minutes, asked about our food and were told they had given it to someone else and they had to make it again. Asked again after another 20 minutes And the guy pulled it off the counter where it had been waiting. Not even an apology. All he said was "mistakes happen, don't you ever make mistakes?" Then had to ask for our drinks, which were practically thrown at me. Maybe better if they're not busy, but if there's a line, you're better off to keep driving to a restaurant where people have common courtesy. Food wasn't good enough to justify the wait either- it was mediocre at best. read more

They forgot about mine and my friends orders. When we had asked how long fish tacos, a hamburger and fried shrimp would take, since we were waiting for our beach shuttle, they told us 20 min about. After 35 min I went up to ask if they were coming soon. When the girl asked the cooks if they had orders for us his response was "yeah we have a lot of those". She told us it would be a little bit longer. My fiancé had to take the last shuttle back to the hotel and get the car to pick us up and when he came back we still didn't have our food! After an hour they finally brought my friends orders (after watching families come, eat their food and leave). When I saw a woman who had come a half hour after us eating her fried shrimp I got up to get my money back. While on line they brought my food out and I ate out of starvation. Food was average. I suggest going to the other snack bar steps away. read more

The Barnacle is a staple of Craigville beach. Prices are a little high, but as others have mentioned, they have a monopoly on the beach so they can do what they want. Ultimately when it comes down to it, it's a snack bar in a resort town on the beach run by tired, hungover college kids, so the service will always be slow. Remember, its the cape. BUT they serve the best hot dogs I have ever eaten. Hands down. When you go, just keep it simple and get a hot dog, fries and a coke. Its a snack bar, not a 5 star restaurant. read more

Ordered a chili cheese dog. Menu states hot dogs may be grilled or deep-fried. When I ordered a deep fried chili cheese dog, it seemed to confuse the staff. She asked the cook if I could have my chili cheese dog deep- fried. He said yes, and explained how to put it in register. When our number was called, I received a plain dog, nothing on it. When I told the girl that I'd ordered a chili cheese dog, she said, " that's not what the receipt says" and then proceeded to put chili and shredded cheese on the hot dog. FAIL. read more

The owners are using great fresh local ingredients and it shows in the quality of their food. I would highly recommend the burgers and the lobster toll is one of the best deals on the cape ..It is a great bargain being directly across from the beach and the staff does a great job. There is a line on beautiful days but that is to be expected when the food is as good as theirs read more

I think the fried clam bellies were actually pretty good, but it's hard to tell because there were so few of them. They gave me enough tartar sauce for a reasonably sized order but not enough clams. The rest of the tray was filled with decent fries and onion rings though I had to ask for some no-name ketchup that tasted more like tomato sauce. Beware - it's cash only. Although their sign points to an ATM at the place next door (seemingly different but owned by the same people) -- they are not open the same hours. I thought I had enough cash but somehow when she totaled it I was a dollar short (now realizing I paid about 3-4 times what is reasonable for the amount I got). She watched me say I would go next door and did not mention it was closed. Then I came back and someone else offered to open next door so I could use the ATM. I paid a $3 ATM fee because I was short $1. I went back, gave her my money, and after all that never got my $2 water. Save yourself some trouble and bring a cooler or stop somewhere on the way in. read more
