Really cute little place in a gorgeous part of the cape. Went here for the specialty coffee and they didn't disappoint. We tried the eggs Benedict and the French toast and both were tasty. The two waiters were very warm and helpful! Prices were also extremely reasonable. Would definitely be a regular if I didn't live in New York. read more

We enjoyed the eggs Benedict, commissioner's plate, farmstand scramble, and Reuben sandwich. All four were satisfying and well-cooked! The service was friendly and quick, and our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and the restaurant. Although the space was a little louder than we are used to, we had a wonderful time at the buttercup and hope to be back soon! read more

Such a lovely experience at Buttercup Cafe! The service was super friendly and helpful, the speciality lattes were 10/10 and we loved both the Farmstand scramble and the Sunrise Toast. Would absolutely come back to Buttercup again and try more delicious menu items! read more

The Buttercup Cafe - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Barnstable, Massachusetts

Buttercup Cafe is a nice little local stop on 6A in Cape Cod. Since I'm on the Cape, I don't want to set harsh mainland standards - I expect the price to be higher, for example - but how will it measure up locally? Ambiance - 5 stars. You come in to the muffin display. It doesn't look like a lot, but the dining space opens up in back. So you have your choice of a quick pickup or a longer schmooze. Service - 4.5 stars. Friendly, prompt. If there was one thing I'd suggest, ask your guests if there's anything they want. I offered a couple of times - hot sauce please, more water please - but shouldn't have to raise my hand to get those for a true 5 star rating. But it's nitpicky so minimal deduction. Food: Well, it's the meals that set me on 4 stars. The special Benedict was good, but only good. The eggs were done nicely - not totally runny, not totally set. Not a lot on my plate for the money. Wish there were more home fries and more biscuit to contribute value to the order. Maybe just home fries; biscuits are rather plain by definition and these were no exception. As for my friend's dish, the cranberry bread was wonderful but overpowered the French aspect. It didn't really egg up - like, use THIS for your Benedict where I can enjoy some delicious fresh bread. Wondering if they test bake their specials before putting them up to the public - that'd be another recommendation. In the end, a couple of fine tweaks only. And as I saw someone else mentioned... see if you can get real maple syrup on hand. Even if it's an upcharge, it's welcome for breakfast. read more

Lasagna and salad really good and hot! Hubby had soup and grilled cheese loved it. A little loud. Staff very nice. Will be back read more

What?! I was getting hangry so we just pulled in (really lucky to grab one of the two parking spots in front and no line out the door! Guess everyone was at the beach!). It's small but opens up. Greeted by a smoothie counter and a pastry evil temptation display, you will find a counter and tables in the back. Their specialty is breakfast and sandwich lunch as it is a café. Coffee is decent. But what knocked my socks off was the manager Erica, and their really delicious turkey Swiss and fig sandwich. From the minute, they served it. I looked at my husband and said "oh my God, they roast their turkey"!. They do. And it made me happy. He ordered a Reuben and it wouldn't surprise me if they make their own pastrami. They do. And while some people here complain about their price, giving what they're serving I would expect to pay $11-$15 anywhere for that sandwich. Which I did, for $15 I brought back half of my sandwich - multigrain bread, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, bacon, a nice pile of turkey and fig jam. It hit all the notes! The only thing my husband would've done different with his Ruben was asked for more dressing on the side. He felt it was low on the dressing, but some people don't like their sandwich soppy like he does. Every time somebody offers, housemate potato chips, I go for them. And I'm glad I did! It's clear that the owner takes huge pride in this little hole in the wall breakfast place that is noisy, attracts a cult, serves good coffee, decent portions and food that is very well prepared. If you're going to charge $15 for a sandwich with a side of house made potato chips, this is what you want to be eating. On the downside parking is sketchy. However, there is parking behind the buildings across the street. People just don't want to be crossing the road, but you can find parking back there. The owners would like to put tables outside, but one of the servers was commenting that either the market or dolphin restaurant had a little bit of a problem with them putting tables in front of the property since parking is such a problem, I don't think they want people parking in their spots to come over to this place for breakfast. Not sure if I agree or disagree, but it is tight and I'm assuming that both of those business is also have a lot of people traffic. All in all, I can't wait to come back for breakfast!!! read more

Excellent!! After driving up 28 from Hyannis to Dennis on a Monday and finding every breakfast spot with an hour+ wait , we decided to cross over to 6A. I remember the Blue plate in Barnstable village, it's now the Buttercup. We were seated immediately, it was busy and it took a little while for our food but everything was delicious. read more

The Buttercup Cafe is a charming little cafe and we were delighted to find in our search for a new place for brunch. The food was excellent, as was the staff and service. Grabbed some yummy pastries on the way out which we later enjoyed. read more

As a single father of three, I try to be patient when eating out, but this experience was genuinely disappointing. It took 10 minutes just to get water, and another 10 minutes before anyone asked if we wanted to order food. When the food finally arrived, it was rock hard, cold, and honestly inedible. I ended up refilling our own waters because no one checked on us, and even the salt shakers were completely empty. With three kids, a simple meal out shouldn't feel like a struggle, but the lack of service made it stressful instead of enjoyable. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope management sees this and makes some real improvements. Families deserve better. read more

Randomly stumbled on this cafe and it was worth it! Came in on a Wednesday morning with no wait time. Was greeted right away and staff were very friendly. The service was quick too. Food and drinks were good. So glad the waitress told me about the side syrup for The Frenchy (French toast breakfast sandwich). Such a cute spot! read more

Great spot, excellent food, friendly staff, good prices - what's not to love??! Stopped in for lunch and am now a fan.

Stopped by after a 3-hour kayaking trip. The food was so good. It really hit the spot! It was about 1:30-2pm on a Sunday and was a full house inside and outside of the restaurant. We sat at the counter. The food and service were excellent! We took some baked good home. read more

The ambience and customer service was great! I look forward to visiting the next time I'm in town!

Very good food and fast service. Bakery items looked awesome. Would definitely recommend and go again.

My husband and I took a trip down to the Cape Cod area, it was our first time visiting. Perfect timing as it was off season and didn't have to worry about the crowds. The morning that we were returning back home, we stopped by the Buttercup Cafe for brunch. My husband ordered the Freshy salad, pretty much a breakfast bowl which he enjoyed a lot, along with the peanut butter smoothie. I ordered a customized omelette that came with home fries. The home fries was slightly disappointed, it was seasoned just felt slightly raw. I also ordered a Belgian waffle on the side. The waffle itself was addicting, loved it. The omelette was fine, nothing outstanding. Service was great, overall we can't complain about our visit :) read more

we loved our breakfast, service and especially the APPLE PIE!! the best eva! and we have had our share of apple pies!!

My husband and I went today and it was quite busy we were offered a counter seat and decided to wait for a table, the waitress seemed annoyed when we sat she took my order and my husband's mine was very specific and after I commented to my husband how cold she was or she didn't listen. When my pancakes they had powdered sugar on them which I said I didn't want instead of sending it back I scraped it off and told the waiter at end and paid the bill, she then came over and told me didn't order it that way or she would have written it down showed me what she wrote even my husband confirmed what I said. She was not backing down honestly hours later I am still flabbergasted. read more

Great breakfast cafe on the Cape! Shopping in area which helps for the wait. Large portions.

Noisy, over priced, lousy coffee, and worst eggs Benedict ever. Hard to park, even off season read more

Great menu choices, nice friendly staff, park in back. Had to sit on outside with dog on bench, which was fine.

There was mold in my baked goods. I only had it sit out for about three hours and when I cut it open there was mold in the croissant

place is clean and quaint , but wait staff was horrible , they where more concerned with their phones all huddled up by registar then serving their customers , took 10 mins for waitress to come to table , all seemed annoyed being there , took 20 mins for her to come back and take order and 20 mins for food , which came back wrong , my waitress -- no where to be found (not so in front on phone)... had to summoned who i believe was manager and asked for them to get my order right , not one time did anyone come over to see how we where doing or to fill our coffees . i will say the food was avg , good , lots to pick from but the service is HORRENDOUS ... used to be a great place to go , but the new owners have hired a bunch of lazy ass gen z's who makes you feel like your annoying them by going to the resturant .. the cherry on the top is when went to pay , was asked if everything ok , and when i commented on the lack of service ... the response I got was a "OH ", no apology or sympathy .... if looking for smiling , good service ... go to Red cottage or Jacks out back read more

The most unfriendly little cafe I've ever encountered! After standing there listening to the girls behind the counter gabbing ..../ one pointed to a paper menu and said "that's our menu, sit where you want and then come up here and order". Not "Hello! How are you doing today?" "Can I give you and menu?" The menu had nothing on it.. definitely not the one on this page! I'll make sure I tell all my friends on the Cape to avoid it. Wasted my time. After sitting reading the 4 item menu... we walked out. They were still gabbing away.... Must not need business. read more

It literally took 25 minutes to get an iced latte. $7.50 for a coffee that was maybe 10 ounces. Fuck that place.

Great food especially their homemade corned beef hash and variety of Eggs Benedict meals!

In addition to my previous yelp I must add... The lunch menu seems nothing short of fantastic. I am enjoying the BEST Chicken Quesadilla I've ever eaten. Wow! And the side of Parmesan Fries? My husband and I stopped off to have breakfast in this charming cafe while visiting the Cape. It was delicious, I had eggs Benedict that came with hash brown potatoes and my husband had eggs over easy with sausage and toast, both were very good. Great breakfast offerings. Got to come by at lunchtime. Parking can be a slight problem. But that's because the food is so good.

The first thing that greeted us outside was the humorous guy that ended up being our waiter. How many places help you to laugh before you even sit down? Great server. Could likely make a living in stand-up. Ambience- great. Cute cafe, nice colors and setup. Food- outstanding. The lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes were out of this world. Corned beef Benedict also solid. Snagged a couple baked goods out of the case to take home. Then the waiter asked if ours was the table that had ordered the chocolate mouse trifle to go. We said no but upon seeing it we wanted one too. "Add it to my bill." That was also excellent. Well worth the visit and glad we did it. Down at the Cape during off-season to enjoy the peace and quite. Woke up this morning with a hunger for something fresh so we ordered up the freshy bowl and the sausage bowl from the buttercup. This takeout order was ready on time with a smile. The young lady at the counter could not have been nicer! The freshy is just that, fresh fresh veggies. You can taste the freshness. Spinach, onions, asparagus, mushrooms, peppers all cooked to perfection. We choose to scramble the egg and add some cheese. Best breakfast out in a long time. The homemade smoke sausage was delish. It came with onions and peppers with a generous amount of cheese wit that scrambled egg. We will be back, thank you Buttercup! read more

The lemonade was fresh and although sugary was good generally. Black berry ice tea was coloured water taste wise Pancakes not the best and my biggest gripe was that I was given fake maple syrup. I can't stand the high fructose fake syrup especially in restaurants. Pancakes were $8 no butter really and the fake maple syrup. Very spongey. Tomato bruschetta was great actually! Phenomenal job there. Very tasty, perfect amount of crunch, and a good variety of bread used. But too much balsamic vinegar and a lot of extra fluff. The salad was like 4 leaves, either remove it from the dish or add more. Waffles eh not much to say, pretty average Same with the sausage, very meh. Waitress was a little rude, but nothing too much. Just a bit pushy with the ordering process. The bathroom was just bizarre, not dirty but the faucets you turn on and then water just trickles out. Just totally bizarre. read more
