Here celebrating first vacation with my new girlfriend. Great atmosphere. Food and wait staff was great. Our server was Sophie. She was outstanding. We ordered the shrimp scampi. It was fantastic. My only complaint is they didn't take the shell off the shrimp tails. Either I pulled it off with my fingers or I cut it off and lost some shrimp meat. Great experience. Not sure if it's a hidden gem or a local favorite, as my friend and I found this place on Yelp when driving back to Mashpee from a day trip in Providence. Grabbed a take out from here on our 1st Saturday at the Cape. From the photos one can see the fries came with practically everything, so why did we only get two little small packets of ketchup? A bit of quality control with service. The fried fish sandwich was good and crispy. Glad we stopped for a late lunch at this spot. The clam chowder was full of clams and potatoes. Another hit was the fish sandwich which was huge and came with a big side of fries. The sliders looked impressive with the name The Den branded in the bun . The patties were overcooked however and not very tasty. We also enjoyed the cauliflower appetizer . What a pleasant surprise! We were a little nervous to try this place with our kids since they are picky eaters, but a fellow yelper said it was great for kids. We were thrilled with the menu. I was able to get the Thai Basil chicken, which was excellent. My husband ordered the poke bowl and our kids were able to get pizza. Not just frozen pizza, but a real pizza, that was yummy. (I stole a bite) So often when eating out with small kids we limit ourselves to chains or bar food, but we were excited to have a healthy meal with different flavors. The noodle bowl that I was served did not look like the noodle bowl they have advertised on their website. It was a very small pasty meal. The small amount of over cooked, cold chicken was tough as leather and the dumplings were complete mush. The waitress was not engaging at all. She took our order, served it and never returned. No smiles, no emotion at all. We had to ask another waitress for help, which was embarrassing and she wasn't much nicer. My very poorly prepared meal was $23., plus tax and tip. I don't know whether "upscale pub" is an oxymoron, or if the owners would use such a term for The Den, but I would. You have two distinct parts here. On the left you have the bar area, with seating all around, and several large TVs for your viewing pleasure (sports when possible, of course). On your right, you have the restaurant side, and when seated, you're given both their food and drink menus. The drink menu has a lot of variety, not necessarily as many beers as I might have expected, but you also have wine, sangria, cocktails, and even whiskey pours. I opted for their watermelon margarita, which was a tad sweet due to the sugar dusting on the rim. It went really well with my Korean Pulled Pork tacos. They had an appealing flavor, though I would have been fine with it being even spicier. We ordered three different types of tacos among our group. They come with fries, but you can upgrade those to either truffle fries or sweet potato fries (waffle cut). These all come with ketchup, which seems wrong for truffle fries and sweet potato fries, but we asked our server for some other types of dipping sauces, and she produced some. Our group also ordered salads, entrees, and pizza. Everything came out very quickly and all within about 90 seconds of each other. There are also daily specials on a blackboard, but that blackboard is behind the bar, you can't see it from every table on the restaurant side, and our waitress didn't happen to mention them to us. Be sure to check those out before ordering. I don't think you can go wrong here. The variety, service, and quality and speed of the delivered food are all exceptional. read more

The Den has become a regular go-to for our family with 3 small kids. The menu is unlike most restaurants on the cape - they have a variety of flavors, vegetables(!) and aren't wildly overpriced. We've really never had anything bad at the Den - but the poke bowl is always my go-to. Always fresh tuna, a lot of avocado and light. The only few things I don't love about the Den (and this is just nit picking) are that they have fake plants and pin up pictures - makes it feel kinda cheap. Stopped here before checking into our resort. Our waitress was super sweet and shared she's from DC. We loved her. The decor and vibe was awesome. Ordered a Den-monade and Paloma, truffle mash pizza , clam chowder and lamb skewers. I went up to the bar to ask if we got the right drinks because mine clearly said sugar rim and my husband's said salt rim. The bartender was so rude and said something was out of season and then said "well we don't do that here". It put such a sour feel on the rest of our dinner. Our waitress was still very kind to us. Would've left zero stars but Yelp won't allow that. Walked in around 7pm on a Sunday. Woman at the host stand ignored us while putting in a take out order then told us she's not the hostess. Said to wait a few minutes because she didn't know if we could be sat. After waiting about 10 min, another woman came up to us and told us that we had to have a reservation and they weren't taking any walk ins, yet the busboy is taking up a 4-top folding napkins and there are at least 3 empty tables inside and a couple outside. Horrible experience! We waited 45 minutes fir our food. One dinner was overcooked, one dinner cold and one dinner was in edible. I don't really know what happened today; but it certainly wasn't great. I will start with the good: My wifes drink was the star, the gyoza were fine, my burger was good, and our waitress was extremely apologetic about the bad. The bad, my wifes salad came out with no salad dressing. Okay sure, waitress can get us that no problem. My sons chicken was over fried; dark as mahogany and twice as dry. He wouldnt eat it. My wifes salad got worse, as she moved the lettuce and discovered the "grilled chicken". It was so dry and looked old enough to vote, it had turned yellow. My wife sent that back. They did offer her something else, but we have a hungry two year old who isn't heating his food. We opted to have it removed from the bill, and instead went to the grocery store. Stopped In for dinner tonight and found the bar ti be busy but plenty of seating in the dining room. Seemed most business was done on the bar side but it was a Thursday night so the game was on which seemed to be the draw. There is also outside seating with heaters. We were seated after a short wait, hostess was busy taking a take out order. Once seated our server provided the menus and took our drink order. 2 margaritas on the rocks. Menus have a good selection of salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas (not your ordinary selections), and a small group of entrees. Not a large menu but should provide something for everyone. Drinks were slow coming as there was only one bartender working. They had plenty of ticks but we're probably the smallest drinks we've ever had. They were a little on the sour side and didn't seem to have much alcohol. Entree orders were fir fish and chips, one with French fries the other with sweet potato fries. Orders came out pretty quickly and looking at it we though they were trying to serve use fish sticks. But that was an incorrect assumption. The fish came in five pieces and were fried to perfection. Very flaky and fresh tasting and very hot. Very large portions of both fries with the sweet potato ones being waffle fries. The regular fries could have been fried a little crisper but the sweet potato ones were nice and crispy on the outside and nice and soft inside. Coleslaw was also on the plate along with a good amount of tarter sauce and ketchup. All in all the meal was good, drinks not so much. read more

We loved our meal! We had a fantastic server and everyone's meal at the table was great. I got the burger and it was cooked perfectly, my husband got the fish tacos, my dad the Dutton pizza and my mom the chicken bacon and avocado sandwich. Opening a restaurant on Cape Cod is tough. There's the mania of summer and the quiet off season. I would want to give this place a better review but found it hard based on the food. Decor is super cool. They've done an eclectic and retro look. It reminds me of something I might see on Restaurant Makeover. Nice split between the bar and dining room. Love the tin ceiling look. Service. Bam, they were great. Attentive and accommodating. Food. Meh. It reminded me of a Sysco assembly. I had the Pilot House burger and was a bit disappointed. First, the patty is a mechanically fused component that lacked character and texture. I asked for the egg to be sunny side up and it came out over hard. If you're gonna do that egg on a burger, I prefer a gooey yoke that drips onto the meat. Fries were OK but the dish left me wanting for more. read more

Came in for dinner and a few drinks at the bar on a Tuesday night. The Den has a massive bar with multiple TVs showing MLB and college basketball. We took two empty seats and we're greeted by the bartender almost immediately. The overall atmosphere was friendly with patrons ranging from 20s through 60s, a number of families, and everyone seemed in an overall good mood. The restaurant offers free guest wifi decent speeds. The bartenders were super friendly and personable. They answered a number of questions on the menu and were attentive throughout the entire meal. Good bartenders make for great nights out. We tried the Asian Buffalo wings, which were quite good. They seemed like maybe they sat a bit in the window as they were more warmed than hot. The carrots that accompanied the wings were unfortunately soft so we skipped them. We also tried the Beef & Vegetable soup. Also delicious, but lukewarm. The side salad was fresh and tasty.
