    Clam strip dinner
    Barbara B.

Quick stop on our way to begin our few days on the cape! The weather was perfect and we sat outside looking over the water. Amy was a friendly waitress who greeted us warmly. As we are planning a bigger dinner we decided to split the clam strip dinner. It was plenty for two, and served with thinly cut fires and a small cup of coleslaw. Perfect way to start our mini vacation

When it comes to fresh-tasting seafood, I mean COME ON! This place knocks it out of the park. I was visiting from Maryland and drove from Leominster to the Cape based on a Yelp review. While I have a bit of buyer's remorse from that long drive (since I didn't get a chance to actually enjoy the scenery - just the dark ), I can't say I regret the food. For context, I'm a Maryland transplant from Cali (a coastal kid if you will lol). Maryland is the home of the crab, but I'll admit, I donnnnno know. I might need to do a little more hands-on research before I decide who really does seafood best - especially crab lol. I ordered the clam chowder and the lobster roll. Just a heads up: that roll was $40 buckaroos - phew, but it was absolutely worth it. The lobster was falling out of the bun, and it was hearty. The only thing I would do different is remove the lettuce, it doesn't need it - it is a star on the roll all on its own. My total was $57.57 before tip. Oh! The restaurant was VERY clean, which genuinely impressed me. Outside, you still get that seasonal "by-the-sea" smell (you know the one), but the restaurant somehow keeps it completely out of the space. That's impressive, because that smell often has a way of following you in. The restaurant itself is well lit, like a beacon of light after driving through that dark stretch of town. We had no trouble parking, though I can tell it fills up fast. Spaces are limited, so carpool if you can. The service was great, relaxed, approachable, and balanced. Our waitress didn't hover, she did not pull the disappearing act either. Her timing was juuuuust right lol. (As I wrote that, I thought, "who am I, a reviewer from the Three Bears story" lol). I think at a certain hour they also let guests seat themselves in the dining room. Any other time they have very sweet staff to welcome you in. Side note: I think that front area, is where you can purchase your own seafood that you can cook at home. When I come back, and I will return, I'm definitely trying a Bloody Mary and one of their fun-sounding cocktails. And honestly, probably that lobster roll again. Oh, and the crab cake. Sorry, Maryland, I need to see if the Cape does it better lol. Thank you for everything!

This place serves the best lobster roll I've ever had, hands down. The Lobster Trap is my absolute go-to every single time I'm in town, and it never disappoints. The food is always high quality, and the service is consistently great. Don't skip this place!

Had an amazing night at Lobster Trap yesterday! We were a party of 11 people without a reservation but the servers were super accommodating and were able to get us seated in 15 mins. Our table was outside, with a gorgeous waterfront view. People really enjoyed their Lobster Rolls that came with a side of fries. Unfortunately, the options were pretty limited for me as I don't eat seafood. I got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich on brioche with a side of fries. The chicken was tender and juicy, the brioche was fresh and fries were perfectly seasoned!

The chowder was thick creamy and hearty. The stuffed quahog wasn't worth the price at all more quahog and chorizo is definitely needed. The fish tacos were very good. The orzo pasta salad was plain but the swordfish was good and filling. The cheese burger wasn't cooked enough we requested medium well it came out medium rare. The waitress Ashlyn was good at her job and was willing to fix the cheeseburger. It's getting chilly out so I'm thankful for that but don't have the time to wait for another burger. It's a great outside ambiance sitting by the water enjoying a meal not noisy at all just the sound of the wind and flags flapping.

I've been coming for years and the food is fantastic, but the economy has affected things strongly and it's reflected in the experience. The seafood chowder which used to be a bigger bowl, and less expensive is now a smaller cup ($12) and was disappointing. The Pad Thai which we always get was great but is overpriced. The ambiance at this restaurant is awesome and this time of year (spring) is very nice. They have outdoor seating next to the water and it's very pleasant. This place can get packed so beware, I went on mother's day and the wait was 1 hour (they have some limited seating where you can get drinks while you wait).

A delicious pulled pork sandwich from a fish market restaurant!

This is the second time in 3 days we have been to this place and it NEVER disappoints. 1st. I had a wonderful Pulled Pork sandwich that comes topped with jalapeño slaw. Not a fan of Jalapeños I asked if I could substitute their fried seafood dinner coleslaw for the jalapeño slaw, which was done graciously. Boy was this terrific. My only note is that, as it was served on a 1/8 sheet pan, it was a little tricky getting your hands around the burger while on that tray loaded with precariously mounded fries, but one makes some allowances for 'house choice' in service ware. Imagine getting superior pulled pork in a seafood market restaurant! Add to that a great view of Buzzards Bay and a fun vibe and you get a great meal all around! 2nd. A luscious dinner of potato chip crusted cod, grilled summer vegetables, roasted fingerling potatoes with lemon butter sauce at The Lobster Trap. After all of my years in the food business, front and back of the house, I can usually find something not quite right with a meal, but this was perfection! Well done guys! Just terrific! (Side note: one of the folks joining us for dinner had the 'surf & turf' burger with lobster salad on the burger. She said the same thing as I did about the 1/8 sheet pan being to small to eat this meal 'tidily'.)

Came in for an early dinner and was very spacious. Upon walking in there is fresh seafood for purchase. Upon being seated our server came right over and advised us of the specials and took our drink and appetizer orders. I had the lobster which was a great size just wish they drawn butter had some seasoning. The string beans were good, mashed potatoes were whipped to a tea, the spinach could have used some season, the kids burger was big and my daughter loved it, let's just say you get your money's worth. We also tried both soups, both were creamy and tasted great.

Steak tips, sweet potato and Brussels sprouts (my favorite! If you want a healthy option ask for no mayo as they added quite a bit on top)

Great ambiance on the water, friendly service and some merch if you're looking. We ordered drinks at the bar while we waited for a table which was fun. My favorite dishes were the calamari (incredible and some of the best we had ever had), the steak tips were so tasty, and the clam chowder was probably the best we had on the trip.

Amazing food - awesome service- be prepared for a very busy and well organized operation- it's crazy busy on the weekends- but it's a vibe - I mean fresh seafood- summer - great drinks - put on your seatbelt- you will not be disappointed. We have a couple of beers on tap - fried calamari- lobster roll, fried scallops and more lobster and ended up bringing some home. The portions are impressive. They also have an amazing takeout kitchen and seafood shop.

    Lobster Roll

I stopped in for dinner on a recent work trip to try a lobster roll while I was in the area. The reviews hyped it up, so I knew this was the place to go. The size of the roll was enough for a meal and there was tons of lobster pieces in it. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to order a side salad with my meal even for an up charge. I thought that was kind of odd. Overall, the meal was great. I would return , and it was a cozy place where you could tell locals came.

Crusted cod, roasted veggies and yucca fries

I was craving a good lobster roll and saw the reviews for this establishment and thought I would give it a try. We stopped on a busy Friday night and was able to score a table on the heated patio without a wait. My husband chose the roasted cod which was accompanied with roasted veggies and yucca fries. He thoroughly enjoyed his choice. He also had the seafood stew which was a creamy base stocked with scallops, shrimp and lobster. It was very tasty but a small portion for the $12 a cup size. My lobster was a good heaping serving on a brioche hot dog size roll with an ample serving of thin fries. In my opinion just a bit pricey at $40. Living just off cape I am accustomed to paying $25-$35 for a very generous size lobster roll. However I guess they price this for the Cape tourist. Our server Hannah W was a sheer delight and most punctual with our service. Atmosphere is rustic Cape Cod. Overall a very enjoyable experience and are sure to return!

Parking could be tricky but you seem to always find parking. Place was packed but we got seated immediately. Staff took a bit to take our order but the order was brought in at a reasonable time. We were dying to try the lobster here and it didn't disappoint. Everyone left happy.

Ask the Community - The Lobster Trap

I have heard that the Lobster Trap has a Sunday Buffet.=?? It doesn't show on their page or menu. Any details would be appreciated. Thank You

Yes they have a Sunday Brunch in the off season. 9-1pm I believe. I haven't been yet, but friends say the chocolate donuts are worth the trip/price!

If I come by boat, is there a dock?

I would say yes but only a small boat or skiff

I think this place is gone?

The place is going strong. Very long wait to get in in season. Today (10/01/18), just had one of the best swordfish dinners I have ever had!!!!!
