My husband and I came here for the first night of our honeymoon. Gorgeous views of the water. It was a little chilly so we sat inside. We started with a smoke show, sandy neck sippah, dozen oysters and the wonton tuna nachos. Both cocktails were delicious. Oysters were fresh and the tuna nachos were great. I had a bowl of clam chowder and my husband had the grilled mahi tacos. The clam chowder was delicious; it had a nice whipped texture. The tacos were good. We came here with a group of ladies to see a band . So first off the band canceled so there was no music so we decided to stay for dinner. What we ran into was... the Ribs we ordered took forever, our fries were cold. Lobster roll had barely any lobster and tasted like cream cheese. Salmon and coleslaw were tasteless. They had a really big space with open windows where you could see the boats it was a nice view. They also had a bar area where you could sit and order as well. We started with the oysters which were small but they were very fresh and tasty. For dinner I had the special which was shrimp, scallop, and lobster ravioli with a creamy sauce that was really nice and not overbearing. Stellar, Consistently Attentive Service!! The entire team of hosts, waitstaff, chefs, bartenders, etc appeared to work together effortlessly. Even on a Thursday night during prime tourist season (August), we would never have guessed there was a wait longer than ten minutes! Sam (our hostess) was incredibly welcoming, and took the time to insure everyone felt comfortable. The entire team of hosts were Incredibly cooperative and approachable. Our server, Anne, was patient, helpful and kind. She not miss a step when serving rounds of beverages, appetizers and meals. The food was outstanding. Diners in our party enjoyed clam chowder, grilled chicken Caesar salad, a fried chicken sandwich, a Reuben with fries, and baked "dayboat scallops" (served with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies). I recommend the zero proof mocktail made with lavender and lemonade. Next time we will definitely save room for dessert!! The ocean breeze can be cool. We had to wait for 45 min on a Saturday night which was not terrible considering we had our dog with us. They have outdoor seating with benches to accommodate us as I believe only the 3 bench tables by the sign are pet friendly. Food was fresh- we got the oyster seafood tower/platter-$65 but it was worth it...oysters were so fresh. We also go the seafood pot pie--so much seafood- scallops, lobster and shrimp with asparagus- I would totally get this again! Steamers were nice and big and again fresh- not sandy at all!! Visiting friends and they took us here the night we arrived after a lovely walk to the water through salt marshes nearby. The parking lot was packed but we got a table immediately at 6:30 on a Sunday night (most people sat outside, we didn't ). The interior was perfect for the location, dark blue and white with fitting artwork. The view of the water and sunset was wonderful through the huge windows. Even the tables and chairs were attractive and comfortable (and spaced well apart, didn't feel crowded at all). Our server was attentive and everything came quickly. The lobster corn chowder was perfection and everyone enjoyed their meals. Lobster Rangoon was also delicious as were the salads, scallops and Brussel sprouts around our table. Our waitress was incredibly friendly. We had a hard time deciding what to order because we were also trying to take pictures of the beautiful sunset. She was very patient with us the whole time. Everything we ordered was legit! The Ahi Sandwich was one of the most delicious we can remember. The lobster tacos were also good--$32 for two might seem steep, but the portion of lobster was fair. The Thai mussels were amazing! We asked for some bread to dip in the sauce, and our wonderful waitress made it happen. This is one of my favorite spots on the cape. Probably because I have some early wonderful memories of dating my boyfriend and going here. I love the tropical drinks and the fish tacos. The sweet potato fries are amazing too. I've never had a bad meal here! It's always worth the wait if there is one. They run a tight ship and try to move people in and out effectively without making them feel rushed. I love both the inside and outside bar, and all of the seating is nice. I found Pilot House to be very underwhelming - In the food, service, & atmosphere. I think the most unfortunate part about our dining experience was specifically where we were sat. Our party of four was sat at a metal table in the grass literally outside the fence that surrounded the outdoor patio. It felt like the table was a strange afterthought to just get the restaurant more covers. The service also felt like an afterthought, but probably at no fault to the servers. We were just ... Out there. In the grass & the dark. Easily forgettable. The quality of the food was fine, but not up to par with the prices. I got the fish tacos & it came out to around $10 per taco ... No sides or anything. Ouch. There was live music going on inside & the house was packed which is a great sign. We particularly enjoyed the band's version of "Sk8er Boi" by Avril Lavigne that we could hear from outside. Rock on. My conclusion is that I probably wouldn't come back here again. I understand it has appeal for certain age groups (18-23 year olds galore) but the bang wasn't worth the buck for me. read more

Nice location. REALLY GREAT SERVERS (too bad the food portions are so small! I should have ordered the Lobster sandwich, but lobster salad with celery is sacrilege in my book... sorry!). Nothing wrong with the food, just not enough given the price. But it was good. Lots of bees while sitting outside, which was freakish. I think there is a bit of food room for improvement, and some of the people on the hostess stand in doors can bring the snob and tude a bit a notch. Very good seafood platter - we got it with gluten free breading and it was very light yet crispy. They asked whether I was celiac or gluten sensitive - I answered the latter and they mentioned there was cross contamination as an FYI. Not sure what the answer would have been if it was celiac. It didn't have much of a pesto flavor, but the overall flavor (whatever it was) was soooo good. I would definitely order again! Have heard good things about The Pilot House so we decided to give it a try on our anniversary. The hostess was nice and friendly and very accommodating when my wife requested a table by a window. Anne our waitress was superb and on top of things. We started out with two cocktails, one was a lemon drop martini and we do not recall what the other was called. Both were very good and tasty. This is where things go just OK food wise. In our opinion the food was just meh, flavorless and not worth the cost at all. We understand that you are also paying for the view and don't mind paying the high end prices as long as the flavor is there. For our Appetizers we ordered the mussels and clams casino. We have had better mussels at other establishments where we have asked for extra bread to soak up the liquid. Not so on this occasion. The clams casino were just ok but not worth $20. For our dinner my wife got the Cape Cods Rueben and I the Crispy Cod Sandwich, which again lacked flavor and was not crispy at all. Maybe it was an off night everyone has those, but we are willing to give it another try. read more

Pilot House is legit! I came here with a big group on a Thursday night in July and it was pretty busy. We sat inside, but I wish we had planned ahead to get an outdoor table because the vibes out there were amazing, with a nice view of the water. In terms of food, everything hit the spot. Somehow I got a picture of all the food on the table, except for me own... guess I was really hungry! I had the Big Bubba Ribs, which were delicious and came with sweet potato fries. My friends all enjoyed their entreés, especially anything with seafood. The staff was really sweet and brought out a slice of cake for my friend's birthday to cap off the meal. Pro tip: If you can't get a table outside, stop by the outdoor bar area for a drink and enjoy the views! read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants on the Cape! We were a party of eight for a mid-afternoon lunch on a Saturday. We were sat right away on the patio. Skylar was our server, and she was fantastic! We ordered Brussels sprouts, oysters on the half shell and tuna wonton nachos to start. The tuna wonton nachos are cravable! My family arrived at 7:00 so prime time without a reservation. My wife and I ordered a drink and were sat down at a table halfway through the first drink...so the wait wasn't bad at all. We had the muscles fred calamari, the lobster balanase, baked schrod and the burger. My boys are growing so they eat a lot. It was awesome. The server was awesome too. Do Not Book Large Groups at the Pilot House -- Especially After a Funeral or Interment. We made a reservation at the Pilot House for a group of 21 following the interment of both of our parents at the National Cemetery--an emotional and solemn occasion. This gathering was meant to bring together family members, many of whom had traveled long distances, to find comfort in one another after a goodbye. We arrived on time, respectful and mindful of the space. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were met not with empathy or professionalism, but with coldness and condescension. While leading us to our tables, a staff member snapped, "You do not OWN this room" and "This is NOT a private party"--completely unprovoked, as no one in our group had acted otherwise. It was a jarring and inappropriate tone to take with anyone, let alone customers coming from what was clearly a memorial service. At 11:30 a.m. on a quiet Wednesday, in an otherwise empty dining room, we were sharply ordered to "sit down" and "take your seats!"--for merely exchanging quiet greetings with loved ones we hadn't seen in years. Later, during a soft, heartfelt toast in memory of our parents, we were scolded again: "You need to be quiet. There are other parties in the room." The only other table present--a party of three--expressly told us they were not disturbed and understood the moment. My husband and I hosted this luncheon with the intention of creating a comforting space for our family after a burial. Instead, the Pilot House staff managed to turn it into a source of embarrassment and frustration. More than half of us have experience in the hospitality industry, and none of us had ever witnessed such a lack of basic courtesy. We couldn't leave fast enough, canceling our plans to enjoy a post-lunch cocktail on the lawn. We regret choosing this venue and urge others--especially those planning gatherings following an interment or other solemn occasion--to look elsewhere. read more

Extremely disappointed with our "Easter Dinner" at Pilot House. We arrived mid afternoon. It's obvious the Kitchen is not ready to open. The fried Calamari was mushy. The scallops were the same. "No seasoning" on any of our food, not hint of garlic, butter, lemon. We were starving and ate it. My son ordered a $20.00 Waghu Burger burt like a hockey puck. He ordered it Medium. Rather than cause a scene on a what was a beautiful Easter day, we ate it and paid tipping our Server 20%. Sending our dinners back would of caused a scene. She was not responsible for the kitchen. We informed the Manager as we departed. We were good customers late last year until they closed. My family in Restaurant Business for 35 years. They opened April 10. You have Ambiance and service, now you need a kitchen to put out consistently good seafood. You have an incredible location, you have time to turn things around. read more

Always a must when we come home to visit. Our favorite summer spot for drinks in the sunshine and getting together with friends. Pilot House has gotten better and better over the years, from food to atmosphere to service. We only come on good weather days to enjoy their amazing outdoor bar and seating. We typically just sit in the adirondacks and have a few cocktails and apps, but occasionally we do come for full meals with the family. Their mudslides are a must, but all their drinks are top-notch. For food, we always get the chowder and quahog. I personally think both are top contenders for best on Cape. Their lobster rolls are decent as well as most other things on the menu. This place is okay. We sat outside under the tent. Got there early so we could get a seat. Took a good 10 min for anyone to come to us. Food was average, service was slow, drinks were good. I got the fried platter- it was mostly clams which are my least fave so that was very disappointing. It only had 2 shrimps and I really wanted more than that. The scallops were also slightly undercooked. Don't recommend this dish unless you love clams. read more

I don't often post anything online but my service at the pilot house this evening rates very positive review. My family and I made reservations for this evening at the pilot house. We were kind of hoping that while the reservation was only for a table inside that we might get a chance to sit outside. However it was raining so we were all glad to have our table in their excellent dining room. The restaurant was packed and it was obvious that the staff was working hard. We had an excellent meal with the staff taking a lot of time to "updew" the cake we had brought for my mother's birthdays. The food was excellent and we had a wonderful time. Our server was Anne B is a wonderful human being. I can only say that she was a wonderful, attentive, and kind individual who made a special night for my family incredibly familiar and nice. A spot where most of the locals and some tourists go. A nice spot down by the marina. Wouldn't say fine dining, but it's levels above your local Applebees. Alicia our waitress was great! But the place was so understaffed you weren't really ever attended to. Our food orders came out somewhat accurate, but the views of the boats navigating the canal are a plus! Every time I visit the Cape I have to stop by the Pilot House! Our waitress Rachael was amazing as always, very attentive & kind. We started with steamers which was the perfect amount for an appetizer. Just enough to satisfy that craving without leaving you too full to enjoy your meal. For entrees we ordered the Blackened Scallops with Risotto along with the Stuffed Cod & it was to dieee for!! The Scallops and Risotto were my favorite. SERVICE: Cindy made our meal quite enjoyable. She is friendly, attentive and even when we mistakenly ordered something, she fixed us up without even a fuss. FOOD: Excellent. The steamers were fresh and sand free. The brussel sprouts had crispy leaves and tons of flavor. The salmon is a huge portion, cooked perfectly with yummy side items. BAR: Cosmo was made perfectly, $10.50 in the smaller of their martini glasses. Not a tiny one, but midsize. The full size martini is $14 and served in a large martini glass. KJ chard is $11, generous pour. ATMOSPHERE: Casual, comfortable with a view of the water. read more
