I've been twice and liked the whole experience. We found the place just by chance since we live not too far from Bourne and like to try new places we figured we'd stop in for a drink . I'm glad we did.They have a nice bar and dining room that's always got a good crowd enjoying their food and drinks. The menus have a good selection of different types of pub foods. Anyone eating here should be able to find something they like. We've had the fish tacos which are very tasty and not full of sloppy sauce and slaw like some other places. The flatbread is very good too they have a few variations that are just right for an appetizer. I have had the fish and chips which was good but I would have liked to see a bit more fries. The drinks are on point though. I have gotten a Manhattan both times and I have to say the bar is very consistent. They make an excellent Manhattan. Good job bar keeps! So if you're ever rounding the traffic circle take that right turn and stop in you won't be disappointed. read more

Just ok but not great. Been a few times, it's loud and that's ok for me. It's been busy both times I've been in. We sat at table and hostess and server were very friendly. The menu is some what limited on offerings. We ordered the buffalo dip, kinda a small kettle and terrible chips ( think generic Tostitos. I ordered a Tito's dirty martini, it tasted very sweet, I did send it back and it was corrected. Very small olives, instead of cocktail size but it was ok. Mahoney's is a great place in this area for drinks and a bite to eat. The atmosphere is sort of like an elevated pub feel, with dim lighting and lots of hanging lights. We also loved the exposed brick. We came for a double date night and found that it was the perfect place for that. It wasn't too busy, but just loud enough to allow us to laugh and chat without feeling like we would bug anyone. Service was good. The younger guy who served us was efficient and friendly. We got quite a few cocktails, all of which were strong but good. For an appetizer, we tried the Irish Nachos which weren't great. They call them "nachos" but the potatoes were large, soft chunks similar to home fries, which left the entire dish far too soft. If potato chips had been used, it would have been at least a bit like a nacho, but these missed the mark. No crunch like you expect when you order any variation of a nacho dish. We also got a cup of the clam chowder, which was delicious. For entrees, we tried the Chicken Caesar Salad and the steak tips with truffle fries. The salad was perfect. Chicken was cooked nicely, the dressing was flavorful. Overall, just a really good Caesar salad. The steak tips weren't as great. Ordered medium rare.. they came out well done. Great spot near the canal. I've been a couple times and love their back patio. On a recent visit we sat inside and service was friendly but very slow, it took awhile to get our drinks order taken and for our food to come out, but they were busy so we understood. Their french fries are delicious, chicken sandwich was not bad but nothing special. My dad really enjoyed the cod dish. read more

The service at the place really pushed it from 4 stars to 5! Our server, Jess was awesome - super friendly and made sure to double check things were gluten free for me. We both loved our food, too. I got a burger that was cooked perfectly and my husband got a sandwich that he loved. The vibe in Mahoney's was great too - we came on a quiet night but the decor was very relaxing. This place is great. We got Irish Nachos~ they were delicious. Now I know what Irish Nachos are supposed to taste like. Fresh red-bliss potatoes in a skillet with all sorts of toppings. Food was just ok at best. Chicken rice bowl had hard chewy pieces of "something" in it. Flavor was good but mostly all white rice. My son had a steak and cheese and he said it was chewy. First time he's never finished a SnC. Later that night he got sick. Related? Who knows. Beer was cold. Waiter had no personality and simply brought my check without asking if we wanted anything else, dessert etc. i liked the atmosphere for a small place. Parking is at a premium. New "American" on Main across from the Mass Maritime Academy. Open about a month. Very busy bar Crowded restaurant American with an Asian twist. We didn't order appetizers, no food brought til the main course which took a while to prepare. Lobster Roll was excellent. Cod was super as well but not much better spice. . Eggplant was plain with large pasta. Desserts were limited. Felt more of a bar then restaurant. Looked like lots of drink choices and beers on tap. Reservations not accepted. read more

Wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Food was very good, prices were a bit pricey , but as most prices are today. Lighting was a little on the dim side, but plenty of light coming from front windows that overlooked Buzzards Bay green and train bridge. Definitely will return when we are back in area. read more

This was my first visit, despite driving by the restaurant many times. The cocktails (dirty martini, cosmo, main st. manhattan) were well crafted, had well balanced flavors and nicely sized. The cauliflower appetizer was crispy, delicious but slightly sweet for our taste. It might be better as a dip instead of on the bottom of the dish as the cauliflower got a bit soggy. The chicken pesto sandwich was excellent with a great brioche style roll and the fries were perfect. The Rueben was tender, crispy grilled bread with just the right amount of sauce and sauerkraut. Even the pickle spear was crisp and fresh. Service was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. I walked away from this experience feeling like I found a hidden gem in downtown Buzzards Bay! I will be making a return visit soon. read more

I will caution you I dined at this restaurant on a night Mass Maritime alumni were here celebrating! The noise level was deafening. There was no way to converse. Not to mention we were totally forgotten about in the corner while the alumni monopolized the entire wait staff on our side of the restaurant. I ordered the salmon which sounded amazing. I really wanted to love it. The presentation was lovely but the salmon was not cooked and was more like sushi . My husband had the Asian steak tips which he would give 4 stars. The lobster rolls passing by did look enticing so maybe I might consider another try. However for now I have to stay with my 3 stars. read more

Calamari and sauce... yup. The sauce is delish, I wanted to slather it all over everything... we stopped by because we knew someone who used to work there and he said it was good. The restaurant was excellent from the service to the food to the train style/ rustic/ industrial decor. We were a group of 8 (with a 6 year old) to celebrate a couple of birthdays in our family. They were quick to bring our drinks out and the food didn't take too long either. I ordered the salmon, it was cooked perfectly and very tasty! The owner was friendly, funny and checked on our table & helped out in the bar or wherever was needed, which is impressive! Everyone in my party enjoyed all their drinks, dinner & dessert! It's nice to see there's a new, somewhat upscale place in Buzzards Bay. This area has always had tons of potential, but been dominated by dumps like Port O'Call and consignment shops. The food was pretty good (had the chicken sandwich), but unfortunately the service is terrible. Everything took forever to be served (our fries were cold) and when ordering beers our party was told that multiple drafts were kicked (after waiting for around 15 minutes each time). I'd give it another try because I want nice things to do well in this area and the food was decent, but if the service doesn't improve I don't imagine they will last long. read more

The opening of this place was much anticipated by locals. They have done an amazing job with the interior... someone really put their heart and soul into turning what was once a legit dive bar in its previous life into what had the potential to be a great place with a super cool vibe. I've been twice.. The first few weeks this places was jammed and I thought to myself awesome we are going to have another great place in town! Well when I finally could get into it (after it being open for about a month) my buddy and I went in for beers and an appetizer (around 7pm). It was not crowded but took over five minutes to get a disinterested bartender to take our drink order. Figured ok maybe a busy early shift. Had to ask twice for menus and sit on empty beers for several minutes. Got the oysters which were fresh and delicious but did not stay for another beer because of the service. Went to another place in town. Second time I went with my girlfriend. Mid afternoon very quiet. The bartender was excellent this time (different guy) engaging and funny but knew when to leave us be. We ordered the stuffed quahog and some flat bread. The quahog came out in this bizarre form of an upright shell on a bed of rice with greens piled high on top and some drizzle on it. It was absolutely awful.. flavorless flash, smoke and mirrors disguising a very poor excuse for a stuffed clam... (Rice AND stuffing!?!) The flat bread was ok at best... I would not get it again. I'll likely give it one more go, I would love to support a new local business. However decide for yourself, it's worth checking out, especially if you remember the old Port O Call.... read more

First time at this amazing restaurant, we thought we were falling in to a local hamburger and fries place, Six of us went to dinner and all of us report that we had the best meals we've ever had! My lobster spinach marzano tomato's in a cream Sauce was delicious and a meal I will think about for a long time!! The chef was simply amazing Mark Conley and our waiter was so good his name was Jonathan and he was top notch wait staff!! Living close by I so much want this restaurant to be successful but more often than not, the experience is sub par. This evening was another example. We went in for a bite and a drink. The waiter was nice, got us our drinks and took our order promptly. Then we went into the black hole. Nothing happing for about 45 minutes. I noticed another couple who had been seated about 10 minutes after us we already eating their entree's. We had only ordered a small plate of ribs and a salad. The waiter came by to apologize for the delay and said because we ordered a salad, the ticket printed at the salad station and thus the kitchen never saw our order. Really? They are going to put a rush on it. I noticed the other couple that sat down 10 minutes after us were already paying their check. After we finally got our food, the salad came out first and was finished before my plate came so we actually watched each other eat. I asked the waiter if the owners knew about this and he said they did. Apparently neither one was willing to stop by our table. So this restaurant is across the street from the marina were I am a lot of the time and where I get off the commuter bus most evenings. I've been there probably 20 times, but I'm not a regular because they more often than not seem to disappoint. This was just another example. I think it stems from a management that really doesn't get customer service. We left a good tip, I never did get a second cocktail and spent the last 45 minutes staring at an empty glass. The ribs and salad were actually pretty good (although the food can be a little hit and miss.) I just wish the management would get their act together. Will I go back, sure. It's right across the street. Will I go back as often as I could, no. I really do prefer to spend my money elsewhere. read more
