GREAT LITTLE EXPERIENCE HERE! The wife and I were on a bit of a Sunday drive from the Mid-Cape. We wanted to try something new, so we drove to Sandwich to see if we could come across something. We were in the area of Fisherman's View, and decided to go to a place we both had been long time ago; we knew it then as the Sagamore Inn. Now, THE SAGAMORE, it's a gently, though sophistically renovated (not losing any charm), clean, comfortable spot. We opted to sit at the inside bar. It's a smaller bar boasting one row of seats, facing your bartender. Nicely presented liquor stock, and a neat, clean bar overall. This particular Sunday, it was holiday, Palm Sunday, for those who celebrate, and we strolled in about 2:30PM or so. A nice, welcoming, upbeat, bartender named Mikayla (sp.?) greeted us, and immediately made us feel comfortable; this is so important! I ordered my favorite drink: an Espresso Martini. One of the best is at Columbo's in Hyannis, so they were up against a challenge. I noticed right away that they use top shelf vodka in their martinis, so I knew right away I was in for a treat, a top quality martini! The martini's taste did not disappoint; it was fantastic. A perfect balance of espresso, blended with the best vodka, other superb ingredients, and shaken perfectly; not too strong; not too sweet; just right! Definitely up there as one of the best. One drawback: owners, if you ever read this please take notice: the martini's contents did not fill the martini glass when served. The drink was 3/4 full. Even the great John Taffer from Bar Rescue would say this is a no-no. Going out as often as we do, we certainly notice the martini glass size game. Sometimes, you'll get a "full" martini in a tiny martini glass. Well the Sagamore, uses a full sized martini glass, though when we inquired, we're advised it's their protocol to only fill it 3/4 of the way up. Well I'll tell you, it makes for a horrible presentation, the customer feels as though they aren't getting a full drink, and in 1-2 sips, the glass looks half empty. It wasn't worth taking a star away for sure, because the price at $14.00 is a very fair price when others charge $17-$19 a martini. It''s more of an insult when those expensive martinis come in a smaller sized martini glass. Please, The Sagamore, fill the glass. I get its top shelf vodka and a fair price. Do a smaller glass, or go up a dollar and fill the regular sized martini glass, or don't go up a dollar and just fill the glass please! We did, as I said, bring it to the attention of Mikayla, who was so nice to bring my second martini closer to the rim! So appreciated, and really part of the reason we'll be back; and we hope we don't get you in trouble! Haha. To the food: superb. Definitely NOT greasy bar food, it's way above! Those fried provolone were fresh, light, airy, not heavy with old oil. Delicious taste. Even the marinara for dipping was delicious. I had a meatball sandwich that was huge, I actually saved the second half. The meatballs were fresh, not frozen, tasted delicious. The onion rings were light, fresh, sweet, tasty. It's so nice that The Sagamore uses fresh oil in their fried food. My wife ordered the scallop roll, there were plenty of scallops on it. The scallops were light, sweet, tasted fresh. My absolute favorite were the pickles they serve at The Sagamore; I've never had anything like them! The were fresh with a spicy sweet flavor that just popped and made for a nice addition to my sandwich. Mikayla was so accommodating and nice to give me a few extra for my to go portion. To the chefs, cooks, prep people: THANK YOU! We noticed your hard work and attention to detail. Please keep it up! Definitely will be back, and if you've never been, it's worth the trip whether you're on Cape or off! As you folks that read my reviews know both my wife and I have owned restaurants, bars etc. I try my best to be fair, respectful, understanding in my reviews. We are both always respectful of our servers, without question. (Really, everyone should be!) Servers can make or break a place. I will say Mikayla truly added to our experience at The Sagamore (and no, I do not know her!). When we go out to an establishment, we want to relax, enjoy, be happy, be accommodated. Mikayla helped provide this experience, along with all the others that make The Sagamore a great place to go. I wish we could give half stars as this would be a solid 3.5, but it was not worthy of a 4. Clam chowder was lukewarm at best, broccolini served with steak tips had no seasoning or even butter on them whatsoever and they were undercooked. I enjoyed the steak tips, by my older daughter did not like the marinade. My husband had the pot roast and he enjoyed it. My younger daughter enjoyed her steak frites. Additionally, we were there at dinner time on a Friday and there was live music in the dining room, which made it very difficult to have a conversation. Also, if they try to sit your family in a "booth", ask for a table instead. They are wooden benches, which aren't very comfortable or roomy enough for 4 people. read more

We were in Sandwich for business in December and decided to go to a local restaurant we hadn't been to in a while. The Sagamore was way better than we remember. We were looking for appetizers and small plates and Sandy answered all of our questions. Very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was delicious served in the warm charming atmosphere that we enjoyed when we first visited so many years ago. Somehow it didn't look or feel old. The place was spotless. The food was fantastic!!! The vegetarian meal was tasty and added a piece of delicious haddock. My wife's Chicken Saltimbuco was excellent!! Portions were more than sufficient and a great value for the price. The presentations of the food were beautiful. The fish soup was very good but I would have liked it a like more flavorful. We were looking for a place to have an anniversary lunch and heard the Sagamore Inn had a great lobster roll so off we went. We arrived and were greeted immediately and offered our choice of tables inside or out. The sun worshipper in me opted for the outdoors on such a lovely afternoon. Our gregarious waitress Trish was very prompt and efficient. Our one big mistake was over ordering portions are huge and we certainly didn't need the appetizer but so be it. Food for tomorrow . We've been wanting to eat at this restaurant for quite some time and finally did. Love the outside bar.. cool place to hang out. We enjoy going here in the summer. The inside is a little stodgy but you can sit outside at the bar in the summer. The grounds are pretty and there's also a fire pit with adirondacks around. The bartenders are nice. You can even take your dogs! read more

I have to say that I was so completely unimpressed in every way imaginable with this place. It truly seemed like a low rent Perkins with not even any of the usual Perkins qualities. It really was THAT low and with a lunch price of $62, how is that even possible??? 3 Strikes you're out. My wife and I have been going to Sagamore Inn for years. At least once a month. The last 3 times we have gone the food has gone way downhill and prices went up. I think they are paying too much attention to the outside bar and bridal tent than the restaurant food. Also, we noticed the staff has changed. Service not as friendly as it used to be. Went recently for dinner. It's clean and has been updated nicely (outdoor tent, bar, bathrooms, fire pit area) which is great. Sadly the menu is not - it remains old school. Pot roast is not something I'd be ordering in July. I'd love to see them swap out winter entrees with some seasonal items - another salad, more light seafood options, small plates, sandwiches. The food was fresh and cooked well - but flavor wise I was also mostly underwhelmed. Happy to see pizza is on the menu again though. There's a reason the other local places are busy. Might return for the outdoor bar and a bite - but not dinner. read more

Awesome little joint not far from the canal. Homey. Wood paneling. Reminiscent of a by gone era. The hotel and nine portion closed back in 1965. That said, just a wonderful and well kept secret. Had a wonderful Po Boy sandwich, and my bride had the turkey sandwich. All homemade feel and flavor. No negatives whatsoever. This is what America needs, more great places like this. Just a friendly experience, great food, priced more than fairly. They've not lost the Cape Cod kitsch. Plenty of parking. Wide menu. Very clean place. Very friendly staff. A true joy to patron. I always hope that my next visit will be better than the last but it never is and I have now given up hope that the Sagamore Inn will ever deliver a good meal. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and to say it was bland is an understatement. It felt like they heated up a Swanson dinner from the 1970s. My friend had the spaghetti and meatballs which she said were very salty. The bread they served was nothing more than a sad tribute to Wonder Bread. Everything was delivered so fast, there was no way any quality time was spent on the food prep. Neither of us bothered to even eat half our meals. The meal even came before our drinks did. I got served a vegetable sandwich on the menu the other day with whole veggies, not cut, completely ripe still, no dressing, a Brussel sprout with the actual root attached to it. SOS GORDON RAMSEY. We decided to give it yet another try. A relaxing night off from cooking turned into an annoying extravaganza. Night ruiner. First off, none of the food has any flavor at all. Salting it didn't help. Seafood platter is, again, flavorless, mushy, battered in muck and served over fries rendering them soggy and wet from steam. Definitely suspect frozen seafood here. Maybe when you say it's local, you mean from the frozen section of the local stop n shop? Strawberry shortcake is more frozen sugared up strawberries and a dry crumbling stale english muffin type biscuit. I feel sorry for the raccoon who gets into my garbage and eats this. Yes, it's that bad! Time to update the menu with new fresh choices. Not just fried in old oil or slathered in butter broiled. There are way too many horrible reviews here not to warrant a major review and change in the kitchen. Sky high prices with tv dinner quality. Service remains very good. I liked the calamari appetizer, but things went down hill from there. There are a very large number of wines by the glass on the wine list. I asked if they have a preservation system and was told that they do not, but "many of them sell very quickly". We ordered 2 different dry red wines. We lucked out on one where they had to open a new bottle for us, but the other was old enough to be a complete waste of money. My advice would be to avoid red wine by the glass. I ordered veal parm, and my wife ordered an Italian chicken dish. Both the chicken and the veal had reasonable consistency but were mostly tasteless. The red meat sauce had lots of meat, but was not good. For dessert, had the tiramisu which was above average. My wife had a moose cake which was served still frozen. We were seated in a booth and by the end of the meal my rear end was sore from sitting on hard wood. I then realized that my wife was sitting on a cushion, as were every other booth sitter in the restaurant. This remains a restaurant with high potential and high disappointment. read more

We went this evening and sat outside. Ordered an appetizer of Stuffed Mushrooms. 4 small mushrooms were in the dish. 2 biters maybe. The cost was $14.99. That's more then $3.50 a piece for these small mushrooms. They were just ok nothing special. The appetizers are highly over-priced for what you get. My husband has not dined here as often as I have over the years so after bringing him here for breakfast a couple of weeks ago we decided to give it another go. We stopped in for a quick bite tonight (Independence Day) as there were not a lot of cars at this place and we knew we could get in and out. Very quiet, except the bar, of course. Quickly served by the waitress. I had the Fish Cakes that came with beans, coleslaw, cornbread and some sort of pink sauce. I could not identify what was in that sauce, except some sort of mayonnaise. It was not bad, just not flavorful. The fish cakes were generous and had a larger than I like ratio of mashed potato to fish, moist, but they were seasoned nicely and browned well. The beans were average and the coleslaw was sweet without a lot of sauce on it. The cornbread was very sweet, almost like dessert cake, but grilled nicely. Now it may sound as if I didn't care for my meal. That is incorrect. I am simply describing it as my taste saw it. If you like fish cakes, you will probably find these acceptable as did I, the same with the rest of the accompaniments. And at $16.99 you won't go away hungry. read more

The Sagamore Inn is in Sandwich MA right on Rt 6A. The outside resembles an inn with an attached tavern, but actually the entire lower level is used for dining. The tavern, which has a few booths and a bar is on the right side and the main dining room is on the left. I ordered a turkey club sandwich with fries and a dill pickle on toasted white bread and a soda. My friend had a meatball sub with melted cheese and fries. Fries were crispy, light golden color, non greasy, crunchy pickle and fresh sandwich ingredients. I tried a piece of the meatball sandwich, because being Italian I'm very fussy about tomato sauce. I have to say it was decent anyway. All of the lunch items were about 10.00 and all of the dinner items were 15.00-25.00 dollars. The service was good, and the room had a nice rustic look. I would have liked the booths to have a little more depth especially if you need a little more room where you sit, but they were pretty comfortable. Food was really disappointing. Had the "Easter buffet " First off everything was ice cold. As if they never checked the sterno just lit it at 9 am, and let it die. Yes we were the last seating at 130, but no where on the menu did I read if your the last seating, we will still charge you full price for half the options. They literally gave us NOTHING HOT or fresh. Just what wasn't eaten already from the previous seating, except for some crappy French toast. I mean to completely run out of the prime rib before we sat is nuts to me. No waffles or even BACON. Who does that???? The eggs were burnt to hell on the top, yet the sausage was badly undercooked, and the veggies I didn't even try. They looked like they were steamed to a floppy blah. Staff was nice but for 240 bucks for 4 people, yeah TWO HUNDRED AND FOURTY BUCKS!!!!!! I will absolutely never return. Sad , I heard better reviews of this place. Mom got a bloody Mary. I drank water, husband and kid had soda. So wow that is crazy expensive for terrible food. read more

Went tonight to the outdoor bar to have a drink and a bite to eat before going home. There were 3 bartenders on the outside bar and although all three were good there was one Mikayla who stood out up and above the rest. Sorry to leave a bad review but there was little to highlight about this restaurant other than the sweet hostess and waitress. The atmosphere was loud, bright, smelled of fried everything...we ordered an appetizer platter and it wasn't fully cooked and we think there was even freezer burn on the onion rings...service wasn't great, but the waitress was sweet. Without putting them down this is a locals bar . Everyone is nice but the food just sucks . Drinks are good and good pour on the wine but the food just sucks. I would not recommend this restaurant in any way shape or form which I'm sure the locals are happy about . .if you like tasteless food this is your go to spot read more
