The quality of the food as purchased by the management was excellent. From there things weakened. The topping on my baked cod was nearly tasteless. And barely cooked through, slightly not fully opaque in the very middle. The topping was not at all crisp. It was served Luke warm not hot. This was a complaint by several others at the table. The swordfish was unquestionably overdone. The chicken pot pie was the star of the night. The puff pastry was brown and flakey. Steam came pouring out as the waiter spooned the filling on top. It looked good and won praise. Service was slow even for a chatty group. Not easy to find or summon. The old inn is still quaint and charming with a relaxed and elegant feel. Beautiful dining atrium was festively decorated for the holidays. A view of a waterfall fountain was pretty. The server was excellent, she was funny friendly and accommodating. Both entrees were so so. The potpie is a rather deconstructed and reconstructed item. It is very funny how they put the puff pastry down first then pour the filling out over top of it and you just eat the opened up sort of pie, not a big fan of the whole idea. Was fine for Just somewhat comfort food on a cold day. Then we tried the salmon dish which ended up being very fishy tasting. It was not edible, and disappointing, so they took it off of our bill. But I could hear others around us enjoying their piece of fish, but we just got a bad one. It happens, tho the manager said never had they had a bad fish before ... rather condescending but he made it right by removing the charge, while insulting us at the same time. All in all the history of this place is interesting. It's definitely the ladies that lunch crowd midweek seems very popular. The hotel has a gift shop, which is cute. It's nice to wander through and just see the place if you have nothing else to do like we did meandering that area of the Cape on the way to the glass museum. read more

It's a once try. Closed for over a year due to a fire, and local government red tape of modernization and licenses/permits, etc. Finally reopened in '25. When it was closed, we, for some reason we thought it was like the defunct PJ Countryhouse or the North River House or even the Wayside Inn (Sudbury, Mass.). No, not really. It is kind of an older folks type of restaurant which borders on a townie watering hole. We stayed at hotel, made a reservations and had a decent meal but I forgot what we had, so while it was good it was not terribly memorable. Nice service. Family get-together. Party of seven. Beautiful decorations and gift shoppe. The management/employees are very helpful. Gorgeous presentation of all food; appetizers, meals and dessert. Crème brûlée, Apple Cake were especially decadent. I ordered the chicken pie. Classic recipe and served piping hot. My husband started with a cup of lobster bisque. It was literally one of the best soups I have tasted in a long time. The burger with bacon jam was a popular choice also. The dinner menu is online on their website. Let me start with I've been to the restaurant more than a dozen times and have had good experiences. Went today for lunch. After we ordered it took 50 mins before the food came out. I had one of the specials (turkey dinner) and when it came out even before I tried it I could tell that it wasn't going to be hot. I could tell because the gravy on the turkey had solidified. When I did try the mashed potatoes and squash they were both barely warm at best. I informed the server that I wouldn't be eating it and why she told me it just came out of the oven. This couldn't have been true and besides it was the only one of our meals that had a cover. Later the server admitted that it was under the warmer while she was waiting for the rest of the meals. Additionally, my grandson had the kids chicken tenders and fries which were warm and dried out. Finally, I was surprised the manager did not come over when I refused the meal. Before the fire, this was one of my favorite places to dine for a special occasion. We took my husband's parents there in early Jan, and it was disappointing. The food simply wasn't up to par with how it was in the past. We tried it again on 2/19. Sat at the bar. Onion soup was tasteless. Crab cake was not even warm and very bland. Steak tips: same, bland and barely room temperature. Wait staff was great, but slow. I think he was pulled in too many directions. We've had so many great meals there in the past. I called on Saturday July 26, 2025. Spoke to Gail to make a reservation for. 5:30pm. She was VERY rude, like I was interfering with her day. No basic social skills. She Hung up on me after she took my info. Never said "all set, see you then". Nothing. Just slammed the phone down. My husband called back like 30 minutes later and he told her how she was rude and hung up on me and we were not even sure if we had reservations. She said we did have reservations, acting stupid like she didn't know what he meant. Ultimately, we didn't go. I am not giving that type of person a dime. This place obviously does not vet/watch their employees. This lady acted like she owns the place. What a disgrace. Won't be going there. Ever. read more

This was our grand finale meal before leaving Massachusetts. We were actually going to break our rule and eat twice at one place but Fisherman's View had over an hour wait so we headed down the street. I was hopeful, this came highly recommended and it's not that it was bad. It was just not great. For this kind of money, I wanted great. The filet was a good cut and cooked well, just a touch of char which I didn't care for. The chicken sandwich did get great reviews and the prime rib ranked a 7/10. So where did it rate? I was staying at the inn and I decided to treat myself to a nice dinner after a long drive. We were seated quickly near the fireplace, which was lovely. It took a long time for the friendly server to greet us as she was also managing tables in another room! The ambience of the old pub was very New England - loved it! Once we were greeted, we then learned that quite a few of the items we were interested in were no longer available due to new menu that was being released the following day- wished the host had shared that list when were seated. I selected a steak and it was delicious! My friend ordered a drink and was told the ingredients were not available. We later learned that several of the unavailable menu items were on the new menu and the difference: price increases. And, the missing ingredients for the drink were available the entire time. Anyway, if I am staying in the inn again, I would likely eat here. Perhaps they were just having an off night? read more

I enjoyed the environment and the message until I tried to use my gift card. Apparently they sold it to my wife a few months before they shut it down. When I was making the appointment, comment that I was finally get to using this gift card, no one cautioned me that they don't honor them any longer. Hostess was grumpy. Service took forever. Food was average. Salad had one strawberry on it and one of the Caesar salads had one anchovy on it. Heard there were new owners and it shows. This place has been around .... well since forever. The restaurant here is more like a few restaurants. The pub area is cozy and old feeling. Fireplace, large bar, feels like you're at the Warren Tavern. The music room or the conservatory...or the terrace in season. The food is solid. Combination of comfort foods like burgers, sandwiches, pot pie, etc. and some more contemporary items (like wok fired salmon or scallops). Just a cool, old- school place to go. read more

I went twice during my recent trip to the Cape and both times were fantastic! The staff were very accommodating on my first trip. They had few patrons in the backrooms but a TON in the front (bus group had stopped by), so it was on the wait staff to volunteer to wait on us because we requested outdoor seating. We had said, we'd be happy to come back another time but the host insisted he tried to find someone to help and he did! We were very grateful and thought it was very kind. We loved the burger and the dynamite fish sandwich. The drinks were cold and the service was excellent. I returned again with a large group soon after, also sitting outdoors (this time there were more people in the outdoor area) and the service was equally as good and food equally as nice. Most of their seating is indoors and they have an outdoor patio that could probably accommodate around max 20 (?) patrons. I would definitely recommend reservations in the busy season. The Dan'l Webster has been an annual stop for our tour group every time we visit Cape Cod and it never disappoints. We have loved the delicious buffet of coq au vin, pasta primavera, and fish followed by tuxedo cake. The dining area is lovely and private. Service is excellent. New Year's Eve dinner. They were able to accommodate a reservation made about a week prior for NYE. Good selection for appetizers, dinner and desserts. Split crab cakes for an app very tasty. The hubs and I had the luck to stay at the property for 3 days in February and 4 days in March, so I had the chance to explore the menu! Everything from breakfast to dessert was amazing! My favorite morning dish is the French Toast with Bananas Foster and for lunch the pesto burger with the sweet potato fries, as for dinner if you get the chance to see the Togarashi Spiced Lamb Loin on the menu you must try it!!! Worth every penny!!! I had it about 5 times and I don't regret it one bit! I'm a big carrot cake fan so I had the carrot cake whenever I decided to indulge a little. The glass conservatory dining room is impressive and the brunch menu offered a wide variety. Have been here for weddings and for the Sunday brunch buffet; nothing less than fabulous. Pricey but worth it on special occasions. Great ambiance and tons of the history here! I have come here many times and brought tourists here for a special lunch. The food is typical New England fair and is good but not abundant or outstanding. But the ambience and the place itself is so fantastic that the food is almost secondary but good. The Inn has a great little Gift shop as well with very friendly folks working the cash register. Sandwich is a fantastic little town with lots to see and do. Yesterday another family and mine celebrated our sons graduation from Massachusetts Maritime Academy. We hosted a luncheon at the restaurant, and we were absolutely thrilled with everything. We had a private room which was set up very well. Our main waitstaff person was attentive, friendly, courteous and patient. The food was amazing !!! The choices varied fro the Hen in the woods ( which was full of flavor, cooked to perfection)... vegetables were also delicious... the lobster with mixed greens was very good, lettuce was crisp and the lobster was fresh( very generous potion). The chicken pot pie was a favorite among the families as well, the pastry encasing the chicken was light and fluffy... chicken was moist and tender. We had a party of 23 and all of the food arrived at the same time and was hot and served well. I've read other reviews and this was NOT "old people food"... it was incredible. We all ordered dessert as well, the sorbet was fabulous and the crème brûlée was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The event was perfect and I cannot thank the restaurant staff enough !!!
