Beautiful spot on the water, hood food and service. I would love to arrive by boat someday.

We were worried reading some of the reviews and this was a special occasion we have been waiting for. We had a great time! We booked well in advance so had a table by the window. This makes a difference. Fun watching boats come in to pickup food! Terrific Eel pond margarita. All entrees were very good; bluefin tuna over soba noodles special featured tuna prepared just right; appetizers deserve special note as mussels feature superb tasty broth and kale salad was very fresh and well prepared. Busy Saturday night and we got water for us all whenever we needed it. This is an overwhyseason for many Cape businesses so glad to see some to do it right! read more

After a day at Woods Hole Institue learning more of Titanic's ill-fated night and sightseeing the Cape's local flair, my former love and I dined here for dinner on our mini vacation of happier times in a past life of adult times. The decor is nautical rustic theme, and seafood cuisine appropriate to its location on the shore of Cape Cod. The crabcakes were very tasty yet somewhat moist as most restauranters prepare it very dry. The shrimp were very tasty along with my pasta. I don't remember my former love's entrée or appetizer were as he is not a huge fan of seafood, particular anything with bones which requires work for one to remove before consuming. The staff is warm and friendly in true Cape Cod fashion. I believe there is a full-service bar. I rate it four stars as the service is moderately slow as a native New Yorker "time is money" which I'm used to being on the go. read more

I've been coming to the Landfall for years, it's one of my favorite traditions. There is a reason why it's been open so long and has a lot to do with the incredible view. It's right on the water in Wood's Hole and is very open and airy (which is a definite plus right now). They are definitely an old school restaurant, every meal starts with amazing garlic bread and everyone gets a salad included in their entree order. This is definitely the place to be if you are a seafood lover, but their no seafood options are pretty tasty too. Knocking off one star as they tend to overcook the filet mignon here, but again, seafood is their strength. They also have a fun cocktail menu and drinking a tropical drink while gazing at the ocean is worth the trip here. During non pandemic times parking can be tough but they valet! read more

Nice view. Cool room. Nice waitress. Fast service. However the (expensive) food is totally mediocre. We went for lunch. I had fish tacos that were on what tasted like stale tortilla, chewy (lightly fried I guess?) fish was over fried and not tasty, wilted lettuce and French fries meh. Probably the worst tacos I have ever had. My husband had the sword fish sandwich which was a little better but on boring roll.... not great especially for $20 per entree! This restaurant was everything we wanted and more. The area has very limited parking but this restaurant has its own lot which was a huge perk. We were seated quickly by a smiling pleasant hostess. Hostess SUCKED! After that, the kitchen did nothing wrong. Cooked to order. HUGE tomato slices. Leafy lettuce (not the crunchy middle stalk) The potato salad had a cardboard taste.. A few things: 1. Food is overpriced, simple as that. Large prices, small-ish portions depending on what you get. 2. When we went, the hostess was awesome. Friendly, sincere, and knew what she was doing. Made sure we were seated and that we were enjoying out food once the main course came out. 3. Garlic bread is amazing. I don't care what kind of diet you're on, you will cave and eat six pieces. HOWEVER, it is an issue when the bread is the highlight of the meal. 4. Food in general was mediocre at best. The best restaurant in Falmouth! Love the open air dining area. With all the wood from old ships as beams and buoys in the rafters. Right on the water in Woods hole beautiful. Free parking, reservations which is nice because most restaurants in area do not. Excellent seafood always fresh. The sandwiches are also always good.We visit Falmouth for one week every August. We enjoy the restaurant so much we always eat there at least twice. Can not wait to return. read more

First, the service was excellent. Unfortunately the calamari was not, It was way too dry and chewy. My broiled scallops were very good, but the scrod was a bit chewy, like it was frozen. This was the first time I've ever had a gluten-free order in any restaurant go wrong. The menu said they could prepare pasta and vegetables gluten-free. But the way they do it is by just removing the pasta. Then they didn't even give me extra vegetables to compensate for the loss of the pasta. I spent $21 for a half a plate of vegetables. read more

Overpriced generally ($15 for a so-so not cold martini, $13 for a kids meal burger). While I appreciate that the decor is historical it creates a dark atmosphere. The atmosphere was cool - nice view, and decorations, but it was hot inside. I wish that is was the same temperature as the outside. The appetizers and dessert and drinks were FANTASTIC. I'm giving them three stars because their service is great from the moment you walk in, they are extremely accommodating and the wait staff is great as well...... Wish I could say more good things about food...... I think it's one of those restaurants that you gotta stick to what they do really well...... I had the brunch menu and it looked really good but when we got our food, the deep fried home fries we're so overcooked you couldn't get a potato, it was more like deep fried chips, The fritata was way overcooked. The avocado toast was extremely disappointing, instead of serving the avocado over some kind of artisan bread it was served over white bread that wasn't even toasted..... every entrée was served with a complementary fruit bowl, the fruit was a few days old. The pineapple was brown....... I'm not extremely disappointed because the price was really affordable, but for God sake it's brunch step up your game in the kitchen so that it's equal to the great service and staff. read more

Have been here many times in the past and enjoyed it. This year not so much. Usually a great start to a Vineyard vacation. We dined today, a Sunday night and I decided to indulge and order the usually excellent light fried and fresh seafood platter. This year post Covid the price was raised to $37 but I get that given a rough last year. The food tasted like it was cooked some time ago and refired for Sunday, same with the fries. Clearly a mistake. Three stars for the staff, great location and years of doing it right. The take away is to maybe try something else than the fried fish platter. Especially at $37. read more

This place was very nice as it was right off the pier. They seated us right by the docks and we had a beautiful view of the water. The ambience was nice and the staff were very friendly. I ordered the lobster roll and my wife had the scallops. The lobster roll was very well prepared. The bun they used was perfect and it overflowed with lobster meat. My wife liked her scallops. We came here for Mother's Day, and the ladies were all happy we did. On Mother's Day, having the Momma and her kids happy is the number one priority. #winning Yes, it's a little bit pricey, but it's a restaurant literally *on the water* in Woods Hole, Cape Cod. The Momma had the frittata and the mimosas and loved both (this was the most important thing). Our Daughter had her first Shirley Temple, which she loved. She also loved her Nobska Salad. Our server was wonderful - just the right amount of personality and attentiveness. In fact, everyone I spoke with there was quite nice, from the hostess, who read my Open Table request to greet my party by name, from the bartender, who shared with me some of the history of the restaurant. The food was fine, the view was great, and our server was wonderful. I have zero complaints, and I may bring everyone back again next year. Gotta say the service was pretty chaotic, with forgotten silverware despite many asks. But the food was good, and the atmosphere on the "first come, first served" patio was nice. Chowd - nicely thick and creamy without any raw flour taste, could use a few more clams and a  bit of seasoning but very good. I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5. I had a Caesar salad with swordfish tips, which were just slightly overcooked. All in all, an OK meal, but nothing amazing. read more

Consumer beware. I made a reservation here on OpenTable where Landfall requires you to put a credit card down to hold your spot. That afternoon my wife felt I'll and with the spike in Covid we didn't think it was wise going to the restaurant. I called to cancel and the woman was very understanding. The next day I noticed my card charged $50. I called and complained and they said the manager would call me. No call. Had to contact my credit card and start a dispute. Total BS. read more

A very nice bar/restaurant tucked perfectly in picturesque Woods Hole. The atmosphere is very nice for a local bar, and you can't get much more local than this. If you are just passing through you are aware that just about everyone else knows each other but you don't get that hostile "townie" vibe. With part of the WHOI campus all over town and the Steamship to MV bracketing this place you have more than just your usual barfly favorites to chat up. Add to that that the Leeside seems to have closed, the Landfall always seems to have something going on. Enjoy a drink n a smoke out front next to the cozy n toasty fire-pit, or take some truly epic sunset pics on the dock out back. The food is pretty good as well, and who can beat 25 cent fish bites and wings between 4 n 6 everyday? No one, thats who. The wings are meaty, crispy pieces of goodness and the fish bites are solid hunks of very fresh fish.(either Haddock or Cod, but Methinks Haddock) If you were expecting mealy and pasty fish, i'm sorry to inform you they only have fresh fish here. read more

We were staying in Falmouth for a wedding this May and decided to take a bike ride to Woods Hole along the bike trail. When we got to Woods Hole, we had worked up an appetite, and the Landfall looked like the perfect spot to refuel. Our friend getting married this weekend (who had summered in Falmouth for 25+years) had recommended this spot too on the wedding website so we were happy to have stumbled upon it. It's a huge restaurant with a fishing/nautical theme. The ceiling was my favorite component, with lots of wood and buoys to check out while you dined. The rest of the decor was pretty cool as well, lots of vintage signs and "artifacts" from Woods Hole/Cape Cod's past. I read on their website that a lot of the wood used in the restaurant is rescued from old shipwrecks which is pretty neat! We didn't luck out with a waterfront table, which was a bummer, but got one just one row back, which was great too. Since it was late May, the restaurant wasn't too busy so we had no wait and found the service to be quick throughout. We enjoyed the chowder, fried clams, and cheeseburger. All were well done and the servings were LARGE. Not the best we've ever had, but good for certain. For lunch, we found the prices to be reasonable (most items were in the $5-$15 range). We ran into a lot of other wedding guest attendees while we ate here (they must have followed the wedding website recommendations too!) and many of them were not from the Northeast and were blown away by the views and the seafood. Quick tips: -It's also a super short walk from the ferry so would be a good place to grab a meal before or after a trip on the ferry! -They accept open table reservations which sounds like a good idea if you plan to go in the evening or during busy season or are a larger group. -They appeared to have a space/room for private events (there was a bridal shower taking place while we were having lunch) which might be a good option for anyone looking for a venue space on the water...rehearsal dinner, birthday dinner, shower, etc! GREAT SEAFOOD JOINT We started with the Clams Casino and for lunch had a Lobster Roll and the Broiled Medley of swordfish, scrod, & shrimp. Everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. 3.5 stars really. Like many, we ate here while waiting for the ferry. We didn't have high expectations, so we were pleased to have a really good lunch, albeit a pricey one. The lobster roll was very good (not too much mayo) and tasty, but at $25 it should be good! The ciabatta deli sandwich was good as was the BLT. Service was friendly and efficient so the overall experience was good. Nice ambiance with the doors open facing the water and lots of flowers. I have had a lot of great experiences here and a lot of not-so-great experiences here. That said, during the summer months you'll likely always find me here on a Friday after work sipping on a California. What's a California? It's a Greyhound with orange juice...fresh...squeezed...juice. That drink along with the view from the outdoor public dock are the two reasons I have become a regular here. Why the 3 stars then? Because the food is just...meh. And a lot of the obnoxious tourists and old money summer residents frequent the place for a nice sit down seafood dinner. That said, if you're looking for a nice, sit down, candlelit dinner to take your extended family to on vacation, this still might be your best bet for the area. For the younger, more adventurous, you're better off picking up a burger at Jimmy's across the street or for the foodie a burrito at Quick's Hole and bringing it back to the outside dock to enjoy it with your California. The dock is technically public, so bringing your own meal is fine. Unless you go before Memorial Day or after Labor Day and are strictly looking for a snack to go with your cocktail...they do 20 cent fish bites and wings which aren't quite so painful on the pocket. Go easy on those Greyhounds, their mixed drinks (in excess) guarantee the worst hangovers I've ever had...that's where the not-so-great experiences came from. read more
