I've been going there for years and only today found it closed! Always so helpful and and pleasant to deal with Frank and this store will be sorely missed. read more

I am so sad to learn this wonderful store has gone out of business! I bought several beautiful lamps and lighting fixtures here. When an antique floor lamp that belonged to my grandma had its glass shade broken by our movers, they had a perfect replacement for it. I had a pleated silk shade that they were able to copy with custom fabrication. They made lamps out of vases of mine with a seashell theme and even made finials out of real seashells! They went above and beyond in their customer service! Thank you, to Frank and his father! You are appreciated and definitely missed! Nadine Duke read more

The Lamp & Lighting Gallery was one of the best businesses in the City of Fairfax, Virginia. For decades, Frank operated his business with the needs and well-being of the customer as his first priority. I regret that the business had to close. Lamp & Lighting Gallery set the standard for customer service, detailed knowledge of their products, advice, and ethical operations. This store was simply the best. We miss having him and the store in our city. David Meyer Former Mayor City of Fairfax, Virginia read more

I visited Lamp and Lighting Gallery to have a lamp repaired. Based on the available reviews, I had quite high expectations, which were exceeded. The gentleman who assisted me was polite, friendly, and obviously knew his business, and he was able to repair my lamp in less than 15 minutes. It is better than new, which is important to me b/c the lamp has a special meaning. The repair cost was extremely reasonable. Could not be more pleased. L&LG will be my go-to from now on. read more

Great little lamp shop.....many lamps and especially lamp shades which I am looking for. Prices are very reasonable. No oriental lamp bases however and was told by the very friendly owner to look on Amazon! It's really hard to order on line as is difficult to tell exact size or color, so disappointed! Oh covid, I'm so glad you are gone but sorry to say that you have changed/lessened many stores inventory. read more

Outstanding craftsmanship restored antique lamps! Could not be happier with the results. If you have lights worth saving, this is THE best option. read more

After reading all of the reviews, I knew that this was the place to find a new lampshade and finial for my 21-yr old lamp that has some sentimental value. I spent hours - literally - searching online for lampshades; nothing fancy, just a lampshade but couldn't find one that was less than $75. Frank suggested a much lighter color and a couple of shapes, and I also found a fabulous bird finial; between a new shade and the finial, it is like having a new lamp. My final request was if they had those round pieces of felt which is attached to the bottom to protect my wood table, and he quickly cut a piece and attached it for me at no charge. I was in and out quickly, and I estimate another 21 years with my lamp. Thank you again!! read more

I had been a customer many years ago and rediscovered Frank and team a couple of months ago when I wanted to have a lampshade relined. I appreciated the excellent workmanship on that repair, and I have been going almost weekly with more projects. I have bought new lampshades, bought new lights, had old lamps rewired, and even had a large old chandelier brought up to date with new wiring and new sockets for each of the eighteen lights. Frank gives gentle guidance to encourage me to make the right decisions so that my lighting is safe and fits with today's decor. It is such a pleasure to find a business that offers quality work and provides good advice. I cannot rate Lamp & Lighting Gallery more highly than five stars, but I would give twenty-five if allowed to do so. The business is really top of the line in every way. read more

Frank provided great customer service, Great selection of lamps and shades. Also, great place to get lamp repairs

They did an excellent job of rewiring this 90- to-100-year-old-lamp. It's made out of alabaster or marble (not sure which), and I was afraid when the wiring finally went bad that I might not be able to have it work as a lamp any longer. Fortunately, it works perfectly now, and I'm really happy. I felt the price was reasonable, too, given they basically replaced the entire "insides." (I should add the lamp is separate from the pedestal.) They also have a very good selection of lamps, and they are good at recommending new shades if you need them. Also, I've had them craft a new shade to exactly match a pleated one that had gotten worn out, so they offer that service, too. This store offers wonderful expertise and excellent customer service. read more

I took a lamp that my father bought in Japan on his way back from the Korean War to be refurbished. They did a wonderful job of rewiring it and reassembling it in under a week. They also had the perfect shade for the lamp. The cost was quite reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate to take another lamp to them for repair. read more

I hadn't been over to Lamp & Lighting Gallery in 20 years, but in October the cat knocked my best Stiffel lamp off the table and wrecked the shade and the socket base where the bulb goes. I took it over and - wow! - what an amazing job! They are so very knowledgeable and professional, and had the lamp back good as new in 24 hours for a really fair price (certainly way less than buying a new one!). So I brought in a little console lamp that had been sitting unplugged for 2 years because the bulbs were too close to the shade and had burned it. Quickly, they fixed that one too. Besides the great repairs, there are beautiful lamps and shades for purchase. I won't wait another 20 years to return. Thanks so much for exceptional work! read more

Have been to several lighting stores in the area and this place is the best, most notably for their customer service. I had recently visited two shops, one in Arlington (where sales staff was not very eager to help and had an uppity 'we're too good for anyone' attitude) and another place in Alexandria (where I was made to feel like I was wasting their time). But at Lamp & Lighting they were super helpful and patiently answered all of my (many) questions, carefully wrapped my purchase, and took time to make sure I understood how to reassemble it. read more

I had a floor lamp that needed a switch replaced. The new switch is a better quality than the original, it was done in only two days, and the price was less than I had expected. Brought a lamp in for a minor repair. He didn't even take a look at it. Just said it would be $25.00. Won't go back to this place!

After all of the epic fails I experienced this past week - attempting to look at - and learn about - under-cabinet LED light fixtures, it suddenly dawned on me that I should check with the Lamp & Lighting Gallery in Fairfax. After all, I had purchased a number of table and floor lamps there, got a lamp repaired, and received outstanding service from Frank and his staff. So I called ahead - asked if they carried under-cabinet LED light fixtures? Yes, come on in! Frank recognized me and I told him what I wanted - he took me over to their LED display - and I might add, mounted in such a way that I did not have to crane my neck to look under low counters and such. Frank carries WAC Lighting products as far as under-cabinet LEDs are concerned. http://www.waclighting.com/ He likes them a lot, spent some time advising me on them, and he was able to authoritatively answer all of my questions about installation, configuration, and more. This experience has been in stark contrast to my experiences at Lowe's, The Home Depot, Ferguson, Dominion Electric and Burgess Lighting - all of which have earned the grade of EPIC FAIL when it comes to LED lighting. read more

Great place! Took an antique lamp base in and found exactly the right shade within minutes for a reasonable price! Very knowledgeable and accommodating specialist. Wow. Perhaps my standards are too high, perhaps I went for the wrong reasons but this place was so underwhelming I'm not sure words do it justice. I called ahead to ensure they had what I was looking for, they did. I went in and told them I was looking for lampshades for a chandelier, the choices were super dated AND expensive. I wanted lightbulbs that were incandescent and throw a white or blue light and they barely had any selection. I also told him I was looking for lampshades for my chandelier and he told me I should have brought it in. Umm, yeah.... Total waste of my time and entirely disappointing. read more

Took a couple of Turkish lamps to find bulbs for them. Owner was trying to make money by asking us to get the whole wiring replaced when it only need bulb converters. Have an estimate of 200 bucks for 7 light fixtures. Maybe they do a good job on fixing chandeliers and stuff however as far as my issue was concerned they weren't helpful. read more

A small lamp we use on the desk in our kitchen stopped working, leaving a large dark area in the room. I took it to the Lamp and Lighting Gallery next to Fairfax Circle. They called the next day to let me know the repair was completed. I also had the cord replaced to better match the lamp and to make it less noticeable. My lamp is even better than new -- the new socket is more sturdy and the lamp switch on the cord is easier to reach. The people in the store are knowledgeable and helpful. I could not be happier. Thank you! Mary read more

Excellent experience. The three-way socket on my brass lamp from India needed replacing and I messaged Frank, the owner, on Yelp and he got right back to me.
