No oriental lamp bases however and was told by the very friendly owner to look on Amazon! It's really hard to order on line as is difficult to tell exact size or color, so disappointed! The gentleman who assisted me was polite, friendly, and obviously knew his business, and he was able to repair my lamp in less than 15 minutes. I had been a customer many years ago and rediscovered Frank and team a couple of months ago when I wanted to have a lampshade relined. I appreciated the excellent workmanship on that repair, and I have been going almost weekly with more projects. I have bought new lampshades, bought new lights, had old lamps rewired, and even had a large old chandelier brought up to date with new wiring and new sockets for each of the eighteen lights. Frank gives gentle guidance to encourage me to make the right decisions so that my lighting is safe and fits with today's decor. After reading all of the reviews, I knew that this was the place to find a new lampshade and finial for my 21-yr old lamp that has some sentimental value. I spent hours - literally - searching online for lampshades; nothing fancy, just a lampshade but couldn't find one that was less than $75. Frank suggested a much lighter color and a couple of shapes, and I also found a fabulous bird finial; between a new shade and the finial, it is like having a new lamp. My final request was if they had those round pieces of felt which is attached to the bottom to protect my wood table, and he quickly cut a piece and attached it for me at no charge. I hadn't been over to Lamp & Lighting Gallery in 20 years, but in October the cat knocked my best Stiffel lamp off the table and wrecked the shade and the socket base where the bulb goes. I took it over and - wow! - what an amazing job! They are so very knowledgeable and professional, and had the lamp back good as new in 24 hours for a really fair price (certainly way less than buying a new one!). So I brought in a little console lamp that had been sitting unplugged for 2 years because the bulbs were too close to the shade and had burned it. Quickly, they fixed that one too. They did an excellent job of rewiring this 90- to-100-year-old-lamp. It's made out of alabaster or marble (not sure which), and I was afraid when the wiring finally went bad that I might not be able to have it work as a lamp any longer. Fortunately, it works perfectly now, and I'm really happy. I felt the price was reasonable, too, given they basically replaced the entire "insides." (I should add the lamp is separate from the pedestal.) They also have a very good selection of lamps, and they are good at recommending new shades if you need them. Also, I've had them craft a new shade to exactly match a pleated one that had gotten worn out, so they offer that service, too. This store offers wonderful expertise and excellent customer service. read more

After all of the epic fails I experienced this past week - attempting to look at - and learn about - under-cabinet LED light fixtures, it suddenly dawned on me that I should check with the Lamp & Lighting Gallery in Fairfax. After all, I had purchased a number of table and floor lamps there, got a lamp repaired, and received outstanding service from Frank and his staff. So I called ahead - asked if they carried under-cabinet LED light fixtures? Yes, come on in! Frank recognized me and I told him what I wanted - he took me over to their LED display - and I might add, mounted in such a way that I did not have to crane my neck to look under low counters and such. Wow. Perhaps my standards are too high, perhaps I went for the wrong reasons but this place was so underwhelming I'm not sure words do it justice. I called ahead to ensure they had what I was looking for, they did. I went in and told them I was looking for lampshades for a chandelier, the choices were super dated AND expensive. I wanted lightbulbs that were incandescent and throw a white or blue light and they barely had any selection. Took a couple of Turkish lamps to find bulbs for them. Owner was trying to make money by asking us to get the whole wiring replaced when it only need bulb converters. Have an estimate of 200 bucks for 7 light fixtures. Maybe they do a good job on fixing chandeliers and stuff however as far as my issue was concerned they weren't helpful. read more

A small lamp we use on the desk in our kitchen stopped working, leaving a large dark area in the room. I took it to the Lamp and Lighting Gallery next to Fairfax Circle. They called the next day to let me know the repair was completed. I also had the cord replaced to better match the lamp and to make it less noticeable. Excellent experience. The three-way socket on my brass lamp from India needed replacing and I messaged Frank, the owner, on Yelp and he got right back to me. I brought it in and he said could fix it in an hour for $25. He also suggested a beautiful silk lampshade for $39. My lamp has been working great and the shade complements the lamp beautifully.
