Until June 2026, I enjoyed coming to Lamorinda Nails. The staff is friendly and the shop has a neighborhood feel. I even brought my daughter here for her prom nails, which makes this harder to write. At my most recent visit, I had an appointment and was already mid-service, with hands and feet soaked, when a walk-in customer arrived and wanted to sit next to her friend. Instead of asking, the staff moved my belongings and gestured for me to relocate. No explanation. No courtesy. Just an expectation that I would move for someone who came in after me. I would not have minded moving if I had been asked. But being displaced mid-service without a word was dismissive and, frankly, humiliating. I shared this feedback when I paid, but the experience stuck with me. This is not about one seat. It is about how customers are prioritized and treated in real time. That moment was enough for me to decide I will not be returning. I hope the owners take a step back and reflect. Basic respect and consistency in how customers are treated should not vary depending on who walks through the door. read more

If I told you what I recently paid for a 90-minute-plus pedicure in Buenos Aires you'd weep. And maybe start checking flights deals. But we're not in Argentina and here, post-pandemic inflation, I'm always searching for a similar deal. Or even just a reasonable deal ($30) which is what I got here at Lamorinda Nails, a small salon at the back of a Lafayette strip mall that I enjoy exploring. The place is nothing fancy (which suits me fine) and the pedicure isn't 90-minutes plus but it was still great looking well past 3 weeks later. Score. I'll be back. What a gem of a nail salon! My husband had a training in Lafayette, so I decided to find a place for my daughter and I to get our nails done while we waited for him. I yelped and found this spot. I called when we were about 20 mins away and they were able to take us. I got a classic pedicure and my 7 yo got a mani/pedi. They took such good care of us. They did flowers on my daughter's nails, (fingers and toes!) and also had a toy basket for her to pick a toy out after. She was so excited and our nails look fantastic. I could tell a lot of regulars come here as everyone in the salon knew the names of almost everyone else there. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Very friendly staff. Hailey did my pedicure and was very thorough. Large color selection, and Hailey even made a color suggestion to reflect the spring season which was appreciated. She was also flexible with adding the top coat of a glitter nail polish, so it had a little pop. I appreciate that she made sure I was comfortable in the chair, setting up the massage buttons for me, and checking the water temperature to ensure it was a relaxing pedicure. I have been going to Kathy for many years now and am so happy! The salon is welcoming and they always find a way to fit me in. I usually get gel polish on my hands and regular on my toes. They both last a long time - 2 weeks for gel and 3+ for my toes (unless they are in the sand for weeks on end!!) . Kelly (Kathy's daughter) is so friendly and has great style. I also need to mention that the gel polish, along with the top and bottom coats they used, completely ruined my nails. Within days, some of my fingernails started breaking across the middle, and all of my nails became thin and fragile, causing me immense pain. Highly recommend. 1. They open at 9 on saturdays. I've never found a nail shop open that early on weekends. I love getting my errands done early in the day so I love that they open early. 2. This was my first (and last) visit to this shop. I called because it's conveniently located to our new place, and I read the good reviews. My appointment was on a Saturday morning, which I wrongly assumed would be a fairly quiet time to go for my pedicure. Wrong. It was jam packed with women having pedis and manis. They did put up plexiglass shields between the pedi chairs and manicure mini tables, but I was surprised to be sitting right next to another client, even with the plexiglass between us. There is also plexi between the pedicurist's seat and you. I also was a bit perplexed as to why the tech lady who began my pedicure, switched off TWICE with another tech lady...which I am pretty sure, is not normal procedure at any nail salon - especially since we are still dealing with a pandemic, they should have ONE tech do the job per client. One did the leg scrub, then the other did the massage. I was sitting there thinking "Huh?" They did otherwise do a decent job of the leg part, and I'm not used to having my calves scrubbed, so that was unexpected, but sort of nice too. The tech who did my polish (I brought my own with me, since I am vegan) applied just one coat. I think it should be two. She also cut my skin, which still hurts now, and it's been over a week. It felt a bit rushed and impersonal, while I could see that the regular princesses next to me, were treated special. I also was rushed out of my chair after I had been told to wait about 15 minutes (?) to let the polish dry, by some other lady. So I was upset then because I didn't want to smear it, and decided not to put on my sandals yet, so I had to then walk barefoot to sit at a manicure table, with a foot dryer. When I got up to pay, I was asked for the cost of a mani/pedi, and had to point out that I only had a pedicure. I was still friendly, after all of that. I feel a bit badly to write this, really, but if you are new in town, maybe try another place where you may be treated like they want you to become a regular client too. Look no further for your new mani/pedi spot! This place takes care in the way they treat every person from the moment you enter to the service and after. I have come here for quite a few years, on and off, and the service prevails every time! They take very good care of cleaning the nails. No one cleans nails better than this place! Additionally, for manis they leave gloves for the UV lights. This is one of the only places I have seen who utilize gloves and they have been doing it for years! During COVID they had shields between people and between the client and manicurist. Additionally, are still cleaning down every chair even now that COVID guidelines are lifted! I can see the concern from people of them "favoring" clients, but I don't think that comes at the deficit of other clients. Rather I think their care in their regulars shows the type of people they are and how nicely they will treat incoming customers. I'm a huge fan of their $28 gel manicures. They do an amazing job on the cuticles and it lasts. My nails grow incredibly quickly, so the polish is strong, I just grew it out. What I don't love is that I recently went back for a gel manicure and a regular pedicure and left paying $65 with tip, meaning it was expensive. Doing some math, I pay about $30-$35 for the mani-pedi combo, meaning I paid an extra $20 here for a gel mani. Not the best deal. The employees are all so great, they do do an excellent job with a ton of color variety, they offer up some delicious free candy in the front (and I'm talking the good stuff) and it's conveniently located in the back of the main Lafayette shopping center (Whole Foods, etc..). Overall a gem if I'm in the neighborhood and looking to splurge, sadly a bit too pricy for the combo for my blood. read more

After trying Elaine's nails in Orinda, Naveah (?) in Berkeley, Superb nails in Pleasanton, I concluded this is where you get the bang for your buck. The owner is super sweet. I made a last minute appointment. I arrived. The owner's daughter is very very helpful and offers advice for colors (cute). At first I was confused because her daughter (who is 10yrs old) was applying the acetone to take off my shellac. I was thinking, "omg she doesn't know what she's doing" (as I'm looking at the acetone drip down, turning my fingers white). Well, she was confident in her skills. A few minutes later, the owner came over to check my shellac progress (from Naveah-which was very thick and dense, but peeled and flaked-crap job). Anyway, finally got that stupid shellac off. After I chose my colors the owner painted away as customers kept calling her to make appointments.(it wasn't rude. Plus they have a tv and I was watching kids compete on food network. Very interesting). I'm unique and like a sparkly polish on my ring finger. I CANNOT have all 10 fingers the same color. We customized a cool gold/silver. Originally I wanted a design but the talented design girl doesn't work on Sunday). My nails were clean and gorgeous. I couldn't appreciate it until I had another crap job done in Pleasanton. Honestly this place is the bomb. My friend came here and had a slight issue with one of her nails and the owner was more than happy to fix it free of charge. The owner loves her business and her clients. She's sweet. She does an excellent job, especially with shellac. Tons of moms and daughters come here btw. But check it out! read more

I used to go here when it was a different nail shop. This new one is more upscale & a bit pricier. But I like this place, and my pigs do too. They take walk-ins - and the atmosphere is friendly as well. The best part was the massage - which was above average & didn't include latex gloves (thank you). Unfortunately, I was there when a woman brought her newborn. The woman was getting a mani-pedi & it was just not relaxing to have a baby crying, technicians jumping up & trying to help. Honestly - what was that woman thinking? That brings it down a star for me. So without the loud baby, I would give it 4 stars. My friend Lisa is the daughter of a skilled esthetician, so she has high standards when it comes to beauty shops. When I was in town last weekend, Lisa made us manicure/pedicure appointments at her favorite place, Lamorinda Nails, and the salon did not disappoint! The salon is bright, clean and has a wonderful breeze of fresh air circulating throughout the space. (I can't stand those stuffy nail salons without ventilation that get you high on nail polish fumes!) I used to get manis/pedis regularly, but switched to doing them myself to save cash and it had been well over a year since I had a professional job. I'm not sure if this is a regular thing now or not, but I appreciated the mango salt scrub massage on my feet and calves! The shop screams Pride of Ownership, the staff is friendly and conscientious, meticulous and conducts business with a sense of urgency. I am always impressed by how quick the staff is to clean and sanitize the pedicure basins and manicure tools; someone in the shop is always on top of this regardless of whose client has left the chair, even the owner's husband helps get this done. Visited with two kids after booking an appointment 3 days prior to visit. Upon arrival they didn't have our reservation in their book. We then had to wait a further 10 - 15 minutes before being offered a seat, all three of us were not taken at the same time. One of the woman working there asked if the girls would like to share a seat or have their own chair, of corse they chose their own chair, why should they have to share? To which the woman rolled her eyes and said "oh my god" They are definitely not kid friendly. They rushed through the girls nails and got both of their requests incorrect. Walked in mid day on Sat. and they took us within a few minutes. The polishes aren't organized very logically - on two separate walls, so it's hard to compare colors. It's also really cramped in here.... Held my breath while the nail tech working on the lady's feet two feet away from me spewed acrylic dust into the air. Can I have one of those masks too please? Half of the staff are super super nice and the other half look chronically annoyed and made me wonder if I did something wrong. The nail tech I got was really rough. She filed down my shellac with the dremel, and Instead of putting the acetone right on the cotton, it was all over the foil so my fingertips were soaking in it. She kept checking it and kept putting the foil back on. When she started scraping, it HURT. Granted my nails were thin from multiple shellac manicures but it's never felt like this. When she buffed my nails she roughed up my cuticles in the process. That hurt too. I definitely felt rushed. They did the base coat plus two coats of polish before letting my nails dry at all. Haven't gotten a regular mani in a while, but aren't you supposed to let it dry a bit between layers? After they sent me off it took a good two hours for my nails to dry completely. The final result turned out great, but I'm just not a fan of the overall experience and I think they're overpriced by a few dollars considering. I called to find out how long a gel color change would be and if they could get me in. They said on the phone it would take 20 minutes and they could get me in within the next 10 minutes. I drove over and the place was very busy. They sat me in a pedi spa chair because there were no more spots for manis left. After wrapping my nails they asked me to move "outside" to a chair in the entryway of the shop. I sat there for a long time, watching the clock nervously because I had limited time. After 10-15 minutes I asked how much longer it would be, because I had been told 20 minutes total over the phone. The person I asked said 30-45 more minutes! I told them I couldn't do that because I had somewhere to be and was told it would take 20 minutes. Then I got yelled at! The employee said (more than once) that because I had my nails done "somewhere else" there was no way to know how long it would take to remove the old gel polish. I was so so uncomfortable and it felt like people were looking over like I was causing problems. I would have run out but my nails were still wrapped in those stupid foil things. I asked if they would just remove the old gel and I could just pay for that since I did not have time to get new polish. Pretty disappointing. I really don't get it- they were so nice to everyone else in the shop but they were treating me like crap. If they were mad that I had my nails done somewhere else, they certainly did not succeed in retaining my business for the future. i have had my nails done a few times elsewhere, but Lamorinda is by far the very best nail salon experience! Kathy and Kelly are the "full package"- extremely personable, professional and technically excellent! The gel is pitch perfect- Kathy and Kelly shape my nails (round) perfectly, my cuticles are cleaned to perfection, and the color (whether a pale pink or clear) is soft and subtle. I was excited to try this place. Went in for a mani/pedi. They started the mani first and nicked me in the thumb. No indication they even realized it. Woman doing my nails kept getting distracted by the tv. I was getting nervous and thought about quitting there, but she seemed to re-focus and I tried to relax. My feet were soaking and soon my pedi started. I continued to try to relax, until I felt a lot of pain in my big toe. The woman had been picking at the place where your nail meets the side of your toe. It was bleeding and hurt. Again - no indication from her that this had happened...not even an "oops, sorry." Three days later and it's infected - swollen, red/purple, hot - and can barely walk. Had to go to urgent care tonight to have it cut open to drain and am starting antibiotics. Needless to say, I will not be returning and urge all people to trust their instincts. If your nail tech seems distracted and not careful - leave. They likely are. read more

This place has the worst service. I attempted it twice and after the terrible experience I had last month I will never go back. The lady who did my nails rolled her eyes and mocked me when I spoke to her. She didn't want to put lotion on me or do the massage that I got the first time I came. She got mad at me for not having an appointment. My gel manicure did not even make it a week. And worst of all she over charged me for my manicure. Normally I would say something about this in person but I honestly just wanted to get out of there.
