I found this little gem nestled in Moraga. The staff is warm and inviting. My nails are in terrible shape . I settled for a regular manicure and pedicure with clear polish on my hands and a magenta for my toes. It's been 3 days and the clear polish is holding up well on my hands. The regular pedicure left the soles of my feet soft. My nails are on the mend ‍ I will be back routinely to get my nails back on track. The atmosphere is relaxing. Tried booking an appointment and now AI answers the calls. Horrible!!! The AI would Not connect me to a human, I had a few questions before booking the appointment but AI wouldn't transfer the call to anyone so after a few attempts I gave up. The nail tech did a horrible job on my gel manicure- it was lumpy and I didn't notice it until I got home and put my glasses on I called as soon as I saw the lumps and was told to come back. Either the business changed hands, or there is a new manager running the shop when I visit. I started visiting Olivia's when I moved to the area about 2 years ago. I enjoyed that I was able to make an appointment online, and at the time I lived right down the road so it as very convenient. After moving approx 30 minutes away, I kept coming back because the atmosphere was enjoyable-- very calm and quiet. Unlike other nail shops, this one was quietly serene with a TV playing beautiful landscapes and calm music. The nail techs spoke conservable English so it was easy to talk about what you wanted, and they rarely spoke to each other in a language that was not English so it felt comfortable. The nail service was good-- not great, but reliable which I appreciated. At some point, something changed in how the business is run. Now, it is a completely different atmosphere that is both uncomfortable to experience and producing horrible results. I stopped in last week, and despite booking an appointment ahead of time it took almost 2 hours to get a gel mani/pedi with multiple people flip flopping to work on me. Despite booking the fully loaded pedicure (I work all day on my feet and really craved a paraffin wax treatment), I received a basic gel pedicure and was charged for more. For 2 hours, I watched as the manager took in almost every walk in customer. Most times, she blatantly lied about the wait time, telling people the wait was 15 minutes as she had booked clients sitting there waiting for 45+ minute. I noticed that at all times she was sacrificing the customers who had prebooked appointments. It felt greedy and immoral to her booked customers. I sat and watched as a woman came 13 minutes late to her appointment (yes, shame on her), and then she sat and waited in a chair for almost an hour before someone touched her nails. She politely asked 15 minutes in if she could come in tomorrow instead, and the "manager" told her "no no no I'll be right with you" as she juggled multiple walk in clients that she overloaded her team with. The client was obviously upset and spent the next 45 minutes loudly huffing and hawing-- not relaxing. Two days later, my gel manicure chipped to the point that it was getting caught in my hair. 5 days later, the gel peeled off. Won't go back. Not sure what happened, but they need to get back to their old roots and run a functioning nail business. This was ridiculous to experience. read more

This was an awful experience. I had gel x nails from a previous salon and all I had requested was for the old gel x to be removed. I did not want new nails or anything. The service itself was fine. When the technician was done she said it would be $10 for the removal of the old nails. I handed her $20 and i asked for change. I made it clear when asking for change that I intended to tip $5, which is already a 50% tip. She then got upset and looked at me stating that since she had to remove gel x, that it actually costed $20. She fully changed the price when she saw I had a 20. This is absolutely crazy work. I asked her why the price had changed and she didn't respond. I ultimately gave up and said it was fine. BUT. This lady had the audacity to then proceed to ask if I would be tipping. Well, the mani/pedi is decent and it's definitely one of the cleaner nail salons around but my gripe has to do with the champagne spa package. Twice I've booked the champagne package with a friend and twice I've had to remind them for my glass of champagne. First time they barely filled the glass a quarter way with champagne (that's ok since it's more about the experience than the actual champagne) and the second time they gave me a meager pour of some horrible tasting white wine. If they don't plan on having the product in house, and can't offer a proper pour, then they should take it off the menu. read more

Called and scheduled 2 pedicures for the same day. Arrived and were instantly greeted and directed to the colors selection. After selecting a color, the ladies directed me and my friend to the spaces we would we occupy and offered us drinks for our service! Never had that at any other nail bar! NEVER AGAIN. I have given this nail salon SO MANY second chances. I have been there half a dozen times and every time there has been an issue. First, I thought it was my bad luck. Now I know that it is terrible management. So the worst of it is that today, the nail technician (who was actually the owner) was rushing SO FAST on my nails that she clipped my finger! It bled for a solid 10 minutes! Accidents happen, but this happened because they were very overbooked and she was trying to do my nails as fast as she could. She was going so quickly that even after she cut my finger, I also had to ask her to go back and get the garden dirt out from under my fingernails. Isn't that pretty basic? Cleaning under the fingernails? Why do I have to ask special for that? But even before she cut me, I had already decided that I would never go back. The reason is this: They never turn anyone away. They will always say they have time to do whatever services requested... But then you sit there for 15 or 20 or even 30 minutes! After this happened twice this summer, I decided I needed to always make an appointment. Now I have done that several times and even so --I still have to wait. Today, knowing that time management has been a problem in the past, I confirmed when I made the appointment that I could get my manicure and pedicure at the same time. I was told this would not be a problem. I walked in at the appointed time and then had to wait 20 minutes before anyone could start my pedicure. During that time, two clients came in and asked if they could have a manicure or pedicure, and the owner said yes! Even though myself and another woman -- who also had an appointment -- were already waiting! I know this business is hard and they don't make a lot of money. I know it's hard to figure out the scheduling. But they've been in business for several years and by now they should be able to take an appointment for a service and have a technician available for that appointment within a reasonable timeframe. Otherwise, what is the purpose of an appointment?! NEVER AGAIN. Much better to drive over to Lafayette and go to the salon behind Whole Foods. Really fast and good service. I got a pedicure with regular polish and a manicure with gel. It was 70 altogether (without the tip). They did it at the same time which was super efficient and felt very luxurious! The seats arent typical massage chairs- they are even more comfortable because they have a bunch of pillows you can adjust how you like. They put a pillow on my lap to do my manicure and one on the side to rest my arm on. Honestly, a way more comfortable experience than moving from chair to chair. I have been twice recently and had terrible pedicures. This time I took my friend and hers was also "the worst pedicure [she's] ever had". The whole pedicure was only 15 minutes. Our nails were barely cut, and mine at a total slant. The whole thing was incredibly rushed and the pedicurist seemed very grumpy. Usually when you have a skirt or dress they give you a towel to put over your legs, of course I did get that, but my friend did. Once the main part of the pedi was done, she didn't even rinse the soap and gross water off my legs/feet. Then she barely rubbed my legs, not even putting lotion on my heels or toes. Then she put the hot towel on and usually they cool it down, but she didn't and it literally burned my leg. I like hot things, but this was way too hot! When she polished my toes she did the second coat with the wrong color and when she realized I said I liked it. Instead of listening, she wiped it off with her fingers, didn't use nail polish remover, didn't apply new base coat and sloppily repainted the color. I would have been happy with the wrong color on top, if she asked, but she didn't, and so I ended up with no base coat and a half ass paint job. As soon as it was done she put the slippers on and rushed me out. I had made an appointment and it was more than an hour prior to closing at that point, but they were sweeping and making us feel very unwelcome. All of this within 20 minutes of arrival. Honestly it was the opposite of relaxing and a waste of money. I won't be going back. The experience really left a bad taste in my mouth. I did raise my review from 1 star to three stars. I would say the owner of this place does take customer service very seriously. She responded in a few hours to my post and because I had paid via venmo, sent a refund. The pedicure was bad, and when I said 15 minutes, that was the actual pedicure part, not painting my toes, which took longer because of the mistake with my color--my friend was already finished before me, but this gesture makes me feel taken care of as a customer. Have been to this salon twice, now. First appointment was a pedicure and nail dip with SNS powder. Second appointment was just for the nail dip. For those who don't know, a nail dip is where a dipping powder is used, as opposed to gel polish and UV light. You get a similar look and no dry time, without the light. My last manicure with this dipping process from Olivia Nails, lasted just shy of 3 weeks. Nails just grew out, with only minimal chipping during the third week. Let me also say that I am NOT EASY on my hands/nails, so this process works better and lasts longer for me than gel/shellac. The owner Vanessa, is lovely. The nail tech Hannah is also wonderful, and definitely knows what she's doing with the the dipping powder. I absolutely recommend Olivia Nails :) read more

When I came across Olivia Nail Bar I thought it was the cutest mail salon ever! I went when they were brand new, before the yelp page was even set up. Initially, they were welcoming and gave me tea! Loved it! As my pedicure proceeded it got worse and worse. I always time the massages during my pedicures and this one barely lasted three minutes total. Very short for a $30 pedicure. Other than that, it wasn't too bad, until I got to my car where I saw that I had dead spin hanging off my toe, gross. And my pedicure only lasted TWO DAYS before it started to chip; before this I've never had a pedicure chip until at least a week and a half after getting it. This time, I had to repaint my nails before the event I had gotten the pedicure for. Very disappointing. In summary: Ambiance: Very Cute! I assume the dip was a different method because I trust the nails artists when I go to a salon. I do understand there may have been a language barrier, so maybe your argument is valid. It was my first time trying a new nail salon and I'm very disappointed. I asked for gel and they provided regular polish. They wouldn't redo the polish to gel regardless of my request. I came in here with my sister before a work trip recently. I didn't know it was here but my sister knew about it and had been here before and told me about the place. We were able to call ahead and make an appointment and I definitely recommend doing so. Once we got in, I noticed how nice the interior was and how it would be perfect for a bachelorette party or something similar. The owner was working because she had technicians call in sick and was very apologetic but didn't need to be. Everything ran smoothly and she had a lot of colors to choose from.
