my experience could have been better I had a Russian pedicure here, and overall she did a good job. My feet were soft afterward, and the service itself was well done. However, I was a little disappointed because I wasn't offered the spa pedicure option. I also asked about callus remover and she said yes and then just finished the service when I asked about it afterward It's my understanding that's the only callus remover they do. While the electric file worked and my feet felt smooth, there wasn't any extra attention given to my problem areas or thicker calluses. I noticed another client who started before me was still receiving service after I had finished, which made me wonder if there are differences in technique or experience between technicians. I would come back because I was happy with the overall results, but next time I'd request a more experienced technician who focuses a bit more on detailed callus care and problem areas. UPDATE I got home and I still feel the same about the services offered to me and time spent but but the tech did amazing on my cuticles and the overall foot minus the problem areas. Overall, my experience was good. I got a manicure with a marble design and in the moment was letting them do their thing, I'm more than happy to give my nail techs some creative freedom when it comes to my nails however; my design was pretty far from the reference and I was going to just accept them since they were still in the realm of what I asked for. Once I got home, I realized the actual manicure shape/lengths were a bit inconsistent across both hands. Again, normally not a huge deal but my set cost me $230 (inc. tip) as they were a completely new set so I felt a bit disappointed that they weren't absolutely perfect for how expensive they were. I reached out and they were very nice and respectful and told me I could come in but would have to pay for another appt. which I totally understand, I just don't have the budget to spend anything more since, again, this set was $230. Overall, I'd say this is a solid choice if you prefer a solid color and have the budget for a more expensive set, this salon just might not be a good fit for me personally. read more

Level Up nails is fairly new to Walnut Creek. They opened their Lafayette location in 2023 & this location in fall of 2024. Their manicures are dry, no pre soaking or scrub. They do Russian manicures here, I always preface with: "please don't go too deep with my cuticles". I do not like pushing my cuticles too far back and over trimming them but I do like how they shape my nails here. So I continue to return. Unfortunately, my right thumb is pinkish and throbbing/stinging after today's visit. Looks traumatized despite my requests, so do keep that in mind when booking. You can also google European/Russian manicures to get an idea, in case it's your first. There are also a ton of dust particles flying around when you're in there (this is from other nail techs drilling/filling other clients nails). Be sure to wrap your freshly washed hair up, anticipate your bag being covered with dust, and do not take uncovered beverages in here. They're kinda pricey. I've had 2 manicures since they've opened, today was my 3rd. I chose no polish for my first 2 services and I tried their hard gel today. My mani with no polish was $60 (without tip). Today's nails included gel and designs - my total was like $115, $132.25 with tip!!! Safe to say, I will stick to mani with no polish. Overall, I think it's a good salon choice if you're in the area looking to get your nails done. The staff is nice, making an appointment is pretty easy. There's street and garage parking. I was told I'm not allowed to return because I have "high expectations." I returned to have a chipped nail fixed by a different technician than the one who performed the original service. The technician who did the repair was (Evalina). I raised a concern about that specific appointment only and did not bring up other staff in my complaint. During the repair, the original work was significantly altered and did not look the same as before the fix. After speaking with management (Valeria), I was told that comments had been made by other technicians (Shema and Dorina) saying I have "high expectations," even though they were not involved in my complaint or the service that day. Instead of addressing the issue from the appointment, the decision was made to end future service entirely based on internal comments that were not part of my complaint. When I asked to speak with the owner, I was told the owner was aware of the situation and did not want to speak with me. A business that responds to customer concerns by refusing service rather than addressing them is not one I would recommend. read more

I had read better reviews for the Lafayette location; so I finally took the 30 min drive out to the Lafayette location for my birthday nails. I made an appointment with one girl and then last minute they gave me someone else. Her name was Mary and she didn't even smile or greet me when I sat in her chair. The ambience in the room is quite odd because it's so quiet and no one smiles or anything except when you come in ..the lady that checks you was really nice. I wasn't super impressed with the shop, it looks like your average nail shop .. but for Lafayette I expected more. As soon as I walked in and they sat me down....GIRLLL I noticed the SUNUV nail lamp. I was super crushed because those give me an allergic reaction on the cuticle area. These are cheap Amazon led nail lamps truly disappointing. For $100 a manicure I definitely expected something high quality. I've been doing my own nails with a luminary brand polish and lamp. It's not super pricey where a shop can't afford them. With that being said the girl cleaned up my nails real good! They really did look amazing, BUT the next day I got the allergic reaction and my cuticles are now red and itchy. This was truly Disappointing. Not sure if I'll be back.. I decided on 2 stars because of the cheap lamp. This is important for me. If the prices are that high for a structured gel manicure then I expect for their products to be high quality as well. Truly disappointing. This is the before and after picture. I've been getting my nails done here for a year and a half. I initially had a structure mani and pedi done at Walnut Creek and had a terrible experience, but I decided to give this location a chance and the experience was much better, initially. I've been every month for over a year and the first few appointments were great and I loved my nails. Over time I liked them less, but I didn't want to put in the effort to find a new salon just yet. But over time I noticed the tech I would always book with seemed inconvenienced to do my nails. I do understand they work hard which is why I tipped 20% everytime, even if I didn't love them, and I was polite and appreciative. Secondly my nails kept breaking super low, even though the gel is supposed to make them sturdier. Now after going to a new salon, I realize it's because she was making them too thick which was causing stress to the nails. Also, they've pushed my appointment back 3 times, and once even moved me to Walnut Creek. And while they called to ask, there was never a courtesy discount or credit offered even though they were inconveniencing me. Yet when I asked to change my color the last time I was there, they didn't have time for that, and they hadn't even applied the color yet. Also, they advertise "flawless nails" yet the times I've asked if something could be fixed they get irritated and gaslight you. I had chrome and I discovered bubbles which I called and asked to be fixed, especially because it's an upcharge. When I got there, they acted like they couldn't see the bubbles. Another time I got a red and the polish came off the tips in about 4 days. When I went back the receptionist had the same color and showed me hers were chipping too and blamed it on the polish. I asked her how long she had it and she said 3 weeks and laughed, so how is that the same as 4 days?? And if the polish is poor quality why have it as an option. When the tech touched up my nails she was clearly pissed and rough with my nails. I think the final straw was them telling me I would need to pay $40 more for single color because my nails are considered long and take more time. While I do understand that, designs are 120/125 and are allocated 2 hours, yet I'd have to pay $140 for single color? Yeah, no thanks. I regret being too lazy to find a new salon sooner. read more

When I lived in Belarus, I had the best manicures that would last for almost a month. My nails were so healthy and beautiful... and then after moving to America, my nails took a nosedive into becoming so thin and brittle. I spent years not getting manicures as gel polish wouldn't even stay on my nail without chipping within a few days. I was so excited to see a Russian nail salon open in the area. For the first time in years, my nails are long again and I'm able to have a beautiful manicure. The environment is very cozy and positive, and the salon is very clean. From my visits, I have never seen any guest wait for their appointment, and I have noticed that the employees work together seamlessly as a team in a way that benefits the client (for example, when I asked for a French manicure, my manicurist asked for the help from a coworker who paints the best French tip lines). If you have never had a Russian manicure before, it takes a total of about two hours. Yes, a bit longer (and why a bit more expensive), but it will last you about four weeks and it is a nail and money saver in the long run... and personally, I enjoy getting to have two hours to myself in peace and quiet every once in a while! The hard gel allows me to have strong and long nails, without the damage and negative effects from something like acrylic. There is a great focus on your cuticles, which keeps your nail beds healthy and clean. While parking can be tough at times, I love that this place is free from the crazy you find at most other salons. Though there are tons of stations, only 4-5 techs work at any given time plus the receptionist. The place is CLEAN--no nail dust or weird chemical smell. Stations in use are spread out and wiped down with disinfectant before and after client appointments. The staff is friendly and offers water or coffee as well as advice on shape or color as needed. Note...this type of manicure does take up to 2 hours but after going for 3 months, I can firmly say the manicures last a minimum of 4 weeks and never look dull. Before arriving, my nails were weak, brittle, soft. I had a lot of dry skin and cuticle. No matter how much cuticle oil I use throughout the day, water I drink, and vitamins I take my nails just seems to never improve or grow. Been following this salon since they first opened but never had an opportunity to check it out till now. Made an online reservation a week before my appointment for a Wednesday at 10:40am and had no issue. The day of my appointment, about 45 mins before my appointment they called asking if they can push my appointment by 20 mins and to come in at 11am. I had no issue with that as I had the day off. I drove to Lafayette from Oakland so I do appreciate they letting me know before hand before I drove out. Even if I was already in the area, there are a bunch of cute shops and restaurants to help pass the time. There is ample parking in the back so didn't have any issue with that. Upon entering the salon, it was packed and busy. I was checked in and sat down and waited for less than 10 mins for my nail tech specialist, as she was finishing up with another client. My nail tech was Stephanie who did my French tip gel pedicure. She was gentle and very efficient and was focused. The chair was very comfy which was a plus. I LOVE the way my pedicure came out! I want to warn anyone especially people of color before spending your money at this salon. I've gone here multiple times trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but each visit got worse. As a Black woman, I felt completely disrespected and uncomfortable the entire time. The stares, the energy, and the way they acted toward me were very different from how they treated other clients. The owner was rude, dishonest about prices, and brushed me off when I asked questions. My pedicure was a nightmare the nail tech, Iryna was extremely rough and careless, and it ended up taking three people just to finish painting my toes. Instead of apologizing, the owner and Zarina acted annoyed, like I was the problem. This is by far one of the most unprofessional and uncomfortable salon experiences I've ever had. The way they treat customers particularly people of color is unacceptable.
