I also booked with Telma because my normal wax lady did not have the availability I wanted and I refuse to go to EWC!! My first interaction of texting with Telma was bit of a red flag. She did ask for me to come earlier, but I guess since I didn't reply fast enough, that she had booked another client w/in 15 minutes of waiting for my response. When I got there for my appointment she was not there and I had to wait for her to come into the building. Once she got inside she had to prep then I got on the table and the waxing started. I was already kind of taken back by the fact that she was using the kind of wax that requires the paper strips. I am a regular wax / sugaring client so I know the pain the comes with it, but this pain was so much more intense. Once the waxing was finished and I had gotten into my car, I instantly was uncomfortable. When I used the restroom it burned just to wipe, I had my husband look down there and there was multiple pink / red spots from my skin being ripped. I am having to constantly put neosporin on those areas and be super gentle with it. I recommend doing your research before coming and maybe don't book a Brazilian here.

Not sure what prompted an investment at the beginning of my pregnancy, but I'm thankful because ive noticed a complete change in my skin's health and appearance in the past year. I'm saying my skin is firmer, less breakouts in a year, my complexion is brighter, even , and the hyperpigmentation from eczema flares is all but gone. Facial routines seemed so overwhelming but not I have a AM/PM routine and I'm finally understanding what all these crazy products actually do . Wish I started this in my youth . Environment/ location: located in Lafayette next to the 5 little monkeys shop. Paid parking but really quiet. So peaceful inside the studio. There are 2 rooms sometimes used by the lash tech and masseuse. Inside is beautifully decorated , def has a bohemian theme going and is so peaceful. I judge businesses by their bathrooms and hers is gorgeous, clean, and I appreciate the towels instead of paper products. Facial Products : I can't speak to all the official products used during your face/body treatments but she does sell quite a few lines I love specifically SORELLA, SKINCEUTICALS & HENNÉ. I've probably invested hundredsssss in product but it's worth it and my face loves me. I have really sensitive skin, dermatitis AND I was pregnant when I started so I appreciate that I've never had a reaction, she has non-retinol products that work for pregnant women, and she's great at education. Most import army she reads cues so if you're tired , stressed, or would like to enjoy the facial and nap - she won't talk and she'll make sure anyone waiting outside your room is QUIET and not on their phones so you can enjoy it . Which reminds me - appointments are scheduled and she has to buzz you in which keeps the traffic inside to zero Events: lauren hosts pop-up events for clients and guests and they're cool. It's a great time to meet other, try products , learn something new, drink wine , eat and perhaps win something amazing in a raffle (I won a skinceutical gift set retail value :$$$ and it's been amazing) Facials: I recommend the 90-min services starting with the whole bowl in the $190range but now I get the 90-min bydrofacial which is about $365. It was last minute so I wasn't able to book an appt with the owner Lauren but she was kind enough to squeeze me in with her esthetician Emily who was 5/5. She has the most calming and kind demeanor which already puts you at ease and while being extremely thorough, she also was excellent at explaining what part of the process we were in during the facial session. I had the Whole Bowl (90 mins) and was beyond impressed with the results. They only use the best high quality skincare such as Skinceuticals, as well as selling in store/can ship to your home too. The only disappoint is that they're so far away from home and will be a treat visiting whenever I'm back up north. Definitely book a session with Emily. Your skin will thank you I promise!

I also noticed that the wax residue wasn't fully cleaned off afterward, which I personally prefer as part of the service. I have went to two other studios one in Berkeley that specializes in sugaring and the other in rock ridge that has two other locations and both spas are around if night hire pricing as nude salon. Timing and distance is the only reason I went to another salon. One was so uncomfortable and the lady was extremely rude the second place the lady after I told her twice burnt me. With this being said I will not go anywhere else but with Katie. I live in el cerrito so it is a drive and with traffic can take over an hr but she is so worth it. Her space is always clean the having slight ice this puts me at ease. The wax is always top quality and never once over a dozen times too hot or caused any irritation. She is also extremely kind and works at a speed I don't feel rushed but it is fast I can get in and out writhing 30 min if I don't chat her ear off too much. Her booking system is easy but I find it best to reschedule ahead to get my desired appointment she books out. If you are new to waxing or a seasoned waxed looking for a fabulous wax Katie is your girl. I appreciate her making a service that can be scary and painful as painless as possible.
