I've watched their 2 daughter grow up, 1 now in college. I have been coming here for years and I think I will have to rethink whether to find a new salon or just expect to be disappointed when I come here. I had appointment for 11:30 for pedicure and then lunch with my hubby (he took the day off). I ended up being seen at 11:43 and it lasted only til 12:08. Which equals: 25 minutes. I called to book for a Monday, but it was closed; however, the staff was terrific and got me in for Tuesday instead. I was greeted warmly, selected my colors, and went straight into a massage chair for a foot spa. The chairs were clean and included a plastic liner for the basin. The carpet on the floor was unexpected, but I made the best of it when moving from the massage chair to nail station. The artist was lovely and very professional. She did a very nice job! This place is absolutely repulsive. Even though my nail paint looks good, I can't help but feel scared of a potential infection. There was rust on the nail clippers and leftover blue bath salts from the previous pedicure. I don't think they keep it clean. I also asked if they had a specific color and they acted completely inconvenienced because I inquired. I then opted to go for another color I've used historically and it's clearly been filled with a different nail polish. Lastly, she wanted me to sit in a different area to dry my nails. I had no problem doing so but she was frustrated that I asked to put my sandals on before walking across the floor barefoot. My mother was visiting me last week and I decided to surprise her with a gel manicure, I had not booked a head of time, but I called at 10.45 on a weekday and was offered to come in 45 min later. The man on the phone asked if we were ok with one of us waiting until the first person was done. I said ok since we had not made a reservation I didn't expect to get both of our manicures done at the same time. But when we came in to the salon there were enough staff there so we both got our manicures done at the same time. No wait. I did a normal manicure and my mother got a gel lack manicure. I had never been to Anna Nails, but it came recommended by a friend and the Yelp reviews were pretty decent, so I decided to try it. I called on a Wednesday, requesting an appointment the following morning. They gave me a time to come in and told me that it would take about 45 minutes to do a fill for me. When I got there, I had to wait for about 10-15 minutes, which was irritating because I had an appointment. Meanwhile, someone the owners very obviously knew came in and they started her manicure right away. While I was waiting I looked at the price list, which says a fill is $20. I sat down and the man began doing my nails, only to tell me about 10 minutes in that it would cost $5 extra because he had to remove my gel polish. He then asked me if I would like to have gel polish put on my nails or if regular nail polish was okay. I asked for gel and he told me that would be $15 extra. So this fill that I thought would be $20 now was going to cost $40. I decided that was okay and that I would go ahead with the gel. After he finished shaping my nails, he told me that if I wanted gel polish I would have to wait 30 minutes because no one was available to do it for me at that time. By this time I was highly annoyed and just wanted to leave, so I settled for regular polish. He rushed to get my nails done, as the shop was getting busier, and so my polish turned out mediocre, with bubbles, streaks, etc. In the end it took almost an hour and a half to receive a mediocre fill, with regular nail polish instead of gel. As if that wasn't enough, the entire time I sat at his station, he spoke badly about the people who had done my nails the time before & continuously answered the phone (probably almost 10 times) which slowed my manicure dramatically. I have been going to Anna Nails for several years. They are fantastic, meticulous, friendly, inexpensive, and just as importantly: consistent! This nail salon is a family-owned and -run business. It is not decorated in a "swanky" manner, though it's always sparkling clean. They have multiple massage/pedicure chairs, multiple hand manicure stations, and some of the best staff I've ever gone to. They do gels, acrylics, shellac, designs, and great foot/leg and hand/arm massages with treatment. They do not do hot wax treatments for hands or feet. Mani is $10, pedi is $20. I go to Linda most of the time, and she takes care of all my custom requests, is very friendly, and ALWAYS gives fantastic quality manicures and pedicures. My nails look great for ages afterwards, and the polish quality is meticulous. Her sister and husband both also do fantastic work. I have regrettably had to go elsewhere in the past (Judy's across Moraga Road, Pinkies in Lafayette, even the Claremont), and none give a manicure or pedicure as good, let alone as good for the price. Appointments are recommended on weekends, as being the best in town means they get booked very quickly! They are closed on Sundays year-round, and on Mondays during the wintertime (January-February). This place is convenient, quick and affordable. I got a fill without making an appointment and I was in and out within a half hour. Although I would make an appointment next time just in case because they can get busy. One of the owners did my nails and he did them perfectly to my liking. I always worry when someone new does my nails but I told him how I liked it and he did just that. He did a quality job too, without being too pricey. The owners are a nice couple and you can tell that they like to see their clients leave happy. They didn't mind at all to try a few colors on my nails while I decided which color to choose. We made an appointment for pedicures and gel manicures, and they split us up to move through our appointment efficiently. I get regular manicures here at least once a month. It's a no-frills business run by a family (and a hard-working and charming one at that). Nothing fancy here...some of the decor is circa 1970s and the Food Network is always on their TV (LOL), but that isn't why I go there. I go because Kim and Linda do a great and quick job of filing, shaping and polishing nails. I've gotten many compliments on my manicures from friends. I would say: 1) to call ahead, as I've noticed they rarely accept walk-ins; 2) the nail color selection isn't vast; 3) they often ask if I only want one coat versus two (I go for the latter); and 4) the hand massage portion of the manicure is a hot second, barely any massage at all. The price is right - $20 for a pedi and $20 for a mani. The location is convenient with lots of free parking. So that's why I'm giving them three stars. The downs are that the staff doesn't try to communicate very much with the clients. The massage pedi chairs don't work right, and the decor is not very pleasant. This place isn't fancy looking, but don't let that deter you from going in and making an appointment. The people who work there are so nice and they know what they're doing. Anna nails gives me the best fill I've had this side of the tunnel. They don't have a huge color selection, but the colors they do have are more than enough to get the job done. Had a horrible experience at anna nails about a year ago. I had written a check for payment for a manicure and it was returned by my bank because my wallet had been stolen. They were the only ones I had a check out to, and they never contacted me to let me know. Fast forward about a year. I was shopping in TJ MAXX when one of their employees approached me and in broken english screams," you write bad check" you pay now" I was so humiliated. I told her about my stolen wallet, she yells, I don't believe you. I stormed over to the nail salon with her following on my heels and gave the man my credit card and paid. I am truly distressed to see bad reviews for this place. I have been going here for at lease 4 or 5 years and would not even think of going anywhere else! I read about the dismal decor and the lack of communication, but these are hardly as important as the quality of the job they do. At least once every few weeks someone remarks on my nails and how beautiful they are. Michael, who owns the shop, is in charge of doing acrylic nails and he has developed a technique for doing them so thin, nobody can tell them from real nails. (I hate those thick nails that look like talons). If you establish a report with the employees you will find that they are warm, generous people. More than once I have had to go in with a broken nail to be repaired and they have refused to take a penny for it. I had a friend who went there for years before she moved to Denver and they ask how she is doing every time I go in. We have to remember that immigrants who have to work all day and raise a family as well might not have time to go to school and improve their English. If they can perform the task you are paying them for, and do it better than anyone you have ever gone to, that is enough to ask.! read more

Found this place on yelp. Yup, just another business that pays yelp for reviews skewed positively. Upon entrance, place is old and filthy. But, it was 6pm, I needed my nails done for the next day, and they had good reviews. So, I ASKED "Do you have time for a mani/pedi?". A woman said yes...and pick out a color. They put me in a spa pedi chair, ran water, and I got my feet undressed and in the water. I mentioned that I do have gel on my hands already. I thought I was being polite letting them know. They may want to get me started soaking so when they're finished with current customers, my nails are ready. The lady said "Oh, we don't have time then. It takes an hour and a half for gel". In what world does it take that long? And the worst part is she ruin one of my existing nails. She filed off the outter clear coat testing the strength of the current gel. I had also tested out new polish on one nail. So, here I am wet, one half filed off nail, and a nail with a totally different color than the rest. Everyone knows gel takes less time! And, isn't everyone getting gel these days? Wouldn't you think to ask me what kind of mani/pedi before saying yes, having me pick out a color, get my feet undress and in the water? read more
