I set up an appointment to my nails and my mom's nails done. At the initial appointment they quoted me $130, she wrote down the service and price. When I arrived to my appointment there were 3 nails technicians all sitting around with NO clients in front of them looking bored as hell. She then changed my price to $160 for no apparent reason. This is bad business. The women are super rude and look at you from head to toe like you are scum. They are incredibly unprofessional, I told her I would NOT be getting my nails done after all because she is changing the price. She said I though you needed many pedi. She saw my nail, she saw they are acrylic, she saw they were gel. She fed me this bowl of crap, so does $160 sound reasonable for a mani pedi? She just lazy and rather sit around with no client then to honor her appointment and the price she quoted. I left. I am glad I left because after reading other reviews I see they cut cuticles, do bad work, and jump around with clients. read more

Good pedicure, but the pricing is deceptive. There is a large sign hung on the wall of all the services and the prices. There is a small sign next to the prices that says 5% discount if you pay with cash. I did not have cash on me, so I was prepared to pay $35 for my pedicure. I got my receipt, and it said $37 so I politely inquired if the prices posted had gone up. The cashier then pointed to an even smaller hidden sign that says credit card transactions cost an additional $2 (it actually had a $1 crossed out and replaced with a drawn in $2). This credit card fee was not mentioned prior to running my credit card, and is deceptive because there is no service at the posted price because the "cash discount" pedicure at $33, and then there is pay a credit card penalty for $37. I understand business wanting cash and offering an incentive/discount to do so, but to charge a credit card fee is wrong. read more

And lastly, the manicurist added so many layers that 2 hours later it's still not dry (brought my own base, polish and top coat: they were not old stuff). They fucked me up LOL came in for a refill + repair. came out needing more repair than when i walked in Pros: - student discount - discount if you use cash - clean salon Cons: One of my acrylics were about to fall off but it was still attached to my nail. I thought that hopefully one of the nail techs could gently pry the acrylic nail away from my real nail so it can still be repaired but NOPE. After telling her about it and that she was being a little rough with it, she ripped the whole thing off. Ended up bleeding quite a bit then all of the sudden she decides to push an alcohol soaked cotton ball on me without warning. I understand that alcohol will disinfect the wound but OUCH Unfortunately, I needed my nails to look nice for the next day so I just told her not to do that nail but please fix the others. -As she worked on the rest of my nails she was filing my cuticles hella hard. Came out with some scratches and more bleeding :/ - did my gel manicure pretty well i guess but she forgot to put a top coat??? Lastly, the acrylic used is hella weak. I am sorry to write this review because I like to support businesses in my community but enough is enough. This salon continuously overbooks and makes its' clients wait. Although the salon has its good points the fact is that they are rude, have absolutely no customer service skills and certainly do not respect client's time. I have had to wait every time I have gone there, but today was the last straw, after waiting 20 minutes I finally asked when I would begin my services and was told 25 more minutes, no apology, just sit down and pick a color and wait! My husband waited 30 minutes last week for a pedicure. I will not return... there are amazing salons in the Lamorinda community and when I go to a salon I want the experience to be positive. This is not the case at HD Salon. If you don't mind waiting and literally being ignored after you have scheduled an appointment then this place may work for you. read more

Honestly really disappointed. I used to go to Dana when she worked at Elegant Nail in Oakland and loved her there but this experience was not it. I made an appointment for 2 people, when another black person came in about 15 minutes after us, she was never greeted or acknowledged for at least 20+ minutes, just for Dana to later greet her laughing saying she assumed she was w/ us... an assumption made because we're all black in Moraga?! The 3 workers kept switching between customers and starting one person then going back to another to partially start, then going back again. At the end, she added on a bunch of extra charges and fees that weren't stated throughout the service charging me over $200+ when we've never paid more than $140 total for the same service we received this day. Normally the price will shift by about $15 or so depending on the day, but this was ridiculous. After being there for 3hours 15 minutes (even with an appointment) for a fill and pedicure for one & a mani pedi for the other b/c they kept taking breaks to service walk ins. I would like to give a shout out to HD Nails in Moraga. My wife and I have been there twice for both manicures and pedicures. The owners have set up in the former site of Judy's Nail Salon, and have really fixed it up nicely. Clean, comfortable, very affordable. I had a manicure and pedicure from Dana (the D in the HD) this morning, and it was a wonderful experience. The owners are quiet yet warm and friendly, and we will definitely be going back again. I wrote a check here (first time I had used a check book in ages) because I didn't have cash and the card machine wasn't working.
