I was at this Filipino restaurant a good while back with a group having mostly been to the Filipino places in Woodside. The staff here is friendly and the space is plenty large enough for big groups. In terms of the food in general, I would say that it was a bit less spiced compared to some other Filipino places such as Tito Rad's or some of the spots in Woodside but that might be just regional differences or something. To drink I had a "Barley Drink" as listed on the menu for $5.99 which turned out to be made with I believe mung beans. The drink was barely sweetened with a light floral and nutty flavor and was refreshing throughout the meal helping a lot with the richness of the various dishes. Our only small plate were the Sisig Tacos for $12.99 consisting of crunchy shells filled with pork or chicken sisig topped with lemon mayo. We chose pork and it was tasty though it was greasy as the crunchy shells were a bit wet which was especially the case for the areas topped with said sisig. The the sisig itself, the bite I had was very tasty with a good mix of texture and the lemon mayo helped reduce the richness and spiciness. This was overall good and I can see why others like it. My favorite of the main dishes was something I've had before which was the Ginataang Langka for $14.99 consisting of green jackfruit with shrimp in coconut milk. I like virtually everything cooked ginataang style and this was no exception with the large pieces of jackfruit having an almost meaty texture. The small shrimp in there added some nice texture and the coconut milk wasn't too sweet or rich with a bit of heat being a particularly good version of this dish. I would recommend it heavily. My next favorite was something else I've had before which was the Inihaw Na Bangus for $19.99 or grilled boneless milkfish stuffed with onions and tomatoes which also came with a small slaw on the side. The fish was well grilled and was very tender as it should be for this type of fish with the spicy vinegar cutting through the slight fattiness. This was a very tasty version and again, I would recommend this. The unique dish I've never had before was Chami for $15.99 consisting of sauteed egg noodles with pork and vegetables which was listed as sweet and spicy. The noodles had a good chew to them and the bit of pork in them were fine with a light mixture of vegetables. In terms of flavor, it was a tad light for my liking but overall, it went nicely with the other dishes but I wouldn't recommend it as your only main and just as a dish to split. The more generic grub was a bit worse. The Adobo Chicken for $15.99 was fine. There were plenty pieces of tender chicken though I felt the dish could have used a bit more vinegar as it was a bit more salty than sour which was unfortunate. This was OK. The Crispy Pork Kare-Kare for $17.99 was alright. As per some of the other dishes, the dish was a bit less spiced than usual which didn't really work as well here as it became a bit too peanutty compared to other places. The meat in there was well portioned though I felt they were a bit chewy also. I wouldn't really recommend this much. The rest of the people ate the Sizzling Pusit for $15.99 or squid sisig with peppers, onions, and special sauce. As I'm allergic to cephalopods, I couldn't partake and the people seemed to think the flavor was good which I'm not surprised that because the pork sisig was good but they found the squid a bit too chewy. I wish they got the bangus one instead and I don't really see that as often but oh well. In terms of rice, it can be ordered individually for $3.25 though I believe most main dishes come with it and you can pay a buck more for garlic rice/sinangag. I wouldn't really recommend the latter as I found the garlic rice to be light on garlic having when I felt like just small pieces of roasted garlic in there compared to many other places also using garlic oil to flavor. The food here is different than many other Filipino places and in some ways it works, and in some ways it definitely doesn't. This is lighter grub which was odd for me to think afterwards because the first dish we had was rich and well flavored while the rest of the dishes were a bit light in terms of spices. It wasn't my personal preference but I can see why others enjoy this place and there were certainly some good dishes among everything we ordered. 3.3
A small but great spot for Filipino food. I came here with a large group for an event and they were able to hook us up to the tv so we could play a video; we then had dinner (served buffet style), and then did karaoke. The food was great, and very tasty. The staff were incredibly friendly and were able to make accommodation for someone in our group who cannot eat gluten. The staff also kinda joined us for karaoke (they were singing along with us). 11/10 recommend
This Queens Blvd. Filipino cafe serves consistently tasty and artery-clogging renditions of all the cuisines classics, along with some fusion-ey twists like the crunchy shelled "sissig tacos" appetizer. Standouts include my personal go to order of the dark, vinegar braised Bistek Pinoy, the soft falling apart tender meat sopping up the sauce like a delicious, interspersed with rings lightly fried red onion always accompanied by the houses delicious garlic rice for a slight uncharge, as well as the famed crispy deep fried pork delight known as Bicol express, the shards of well crisped pork belly tossed in a deliciously sweet and spicy sauce of coconut milk, chili and shrimp paste. Of course any Fillpino spot is going to be judged on the quality of it's lumpia, and happily the ones here are greasy crunchy perfection on the outside and unctuous fatty pork (or chicken) goodness within. A deft hand with the deep fryer is consistently indicated across the menu but particularly where the other apps are concerned, as, in addition to the previously mentioned sissig tacos and lumpias, the fired shrimp and calamari are both worth ordering. Room is pleasant with decorations and artwork referencing the archipelago nation, where most of the patrons on any given time will likely hail from, and the staff is professional and efficient. Happily, in keeping with its Queens location and the general culinary culture of the borough, prices have remained reasonable even in our increasingly inflation racked times.
I'm not an expert on Filipino food but I certainly like this place. When we walked in they seated us right away and gave us menus. Inside was small and simple with some artwork decorating the walls. My sister who has been here before ordered for us. We got lumpia, sisig, a shrimp squash dish, fish and garlic rice. Everything was tasty and seasoned perfectly. I recommend this place for good food in general.
This restaurant looks small but they've added another side to have more seating. Service was friendly. We went for lunch on a Sunday so it wasn't rushed. Food was tasty. Not sure if it was authentically flavored but we enjoyed it.
There's nothing quite like homemade Filipino food--it feels as though I'm being served by my Filipino friend's mother. The eggs and beef were cooked to perfection, and the lechon was both crispy and tender. The garlic rice is a must-try. The service was prompt and friendly. I'll definitely be returning, Lahi!
This restaurant is definitely one I would go back to for a good Filipino family meal. Everything tastes so home cooked and delicious. Seeing local Filipino customers dining in as well, assured me that this is the place to be for an authentic Filipino meal. The food was flavorful. The garlic rice is the must get and I highly recommend. No matter what dish you try, you must get an order of garlic rice. It is so worth the extra $1 for it. The rice porridge with tripe was delicious. The tripe was tender and easy to eat. The pork sinigang was tangy and savory. There were lots of vegetables. I will definitely be coming back.
Best Filipino restaurant ever! I go food shopping in Elmhurst very often and saw this place is on the way. I decided to try and this place is one of my favorite restaurant since. Food is great and server are friendly, happy and polite. The restaurant actually expands to another room and has bigger space and table. When the restaurant is busy, you will hardly see the server because they are running around doing stuff. I love Dasilog (brunch menu), Deep fried milk fish with garlic rice and fried egg. Tosilog (brunch menu), Sweet red pork with garlic rice and fried egg. Bistek Pinoy, beef sauteed with onion Sisig Bangus, chopped crispy milkfish with onion and seasoned. my favorite desserts are Halo and Leche Flan.
We've always driven past Lahi but never took the time to check it out, and I'm so glad we finally did! As a party of 4, we were seated rather quickly on a Friday evening (around 7:15pm), but the restaurant did fill up a bit shortly after. The space is a bit on the smaller side, but gives a home-y vibe. Between the 4 of us, we initially decided on the pork lumpia, chicken adobo, sisig bangus, lechon kawali, and palabok. Unfortunately, they were out of the palabok and chicken adobo, so we subbed with the adobo pork and held off on another noodle. Garlic rice is a must, and it comes with each of the entrees for an additional $1. I was honestly really pleasantly surprised by each dish. The lumpia was super crispy & tasty, and I could snack on these all day long! 12 sounds like a lot until you start eating - I could finish a plate of these myself (I think). The sisig bangus came out sizzling, and it was so fragrant! Adding the lemon in gave it that extra acidity that tied the whole dish together so well. This was really delicious, and definitely a highlight for me. Lechon kawali and adobo pork were both good, but nothing to write home about. The adobo was a little saltier than I expected, and I almost wish it had just a little more vinegar. We decided to add on two more dishes after a while, because the 4 alone didn't seem to be quite enough. After looking through some yelp reviews, we decided on the bihon and the sisig pork. The bihon was quite large portion wise, and really tasty in my opinion. It looks like such a simple dish, but the flavors are well balanced. Sisig pork was one of my faves - I enjoyed this a bit more than the sisig bangus, because I loooove the extra flavor from the fat. The staff is really kind, and they were quite apologetic when they notified us that they were out of some items. Service was paced well - we never had to wait too long for any of our dishes. Prices are reasonable - total came out to $123 after tax and tip. Overall, worth a visit, and I'd come back! Highly recommend getting a sisig and lumpia!
I've been coming to Lahi pretty often since it's conveniently close to my apartment. One of the main reasons I keep returning is the great food selection -- there's always something satisfying to enjoy. The service is consistently good, and the overall ambience is pleasant and relaxed. It's not a high-end spot, so don't expect anything fancy, but if you're after great food in a casual setting, Lahi delivers.
Very happy with the amount of milkfish and veggies they gave in this soup their kare kare also tastes great from my memory
Small little place that serves authentic filipino food. My friend and I were craving filipino food so we made the drive to queens and we weren't disappointed! Everything came out sizzling hot and full of flavor. We ordered: - BBQ Pork or Chicken - Garlic Rice - Chicken Sisig Plate Definitely recommend coming here if you've never tried filipino food or you're just in the sudden mood for it!
Came here twice! Local Filipino restaurant in Elmhurst. They have a decent selection of food & a good amount of seating as well. - The first time I went, I got the Lechon Kawali and Pork Sisig Tacos. Yhe lechon was super fatty and flavorful and went well with the rice and sauce (4.5/5). The sisig tacos were good, I felt like there was too much flavors going on though but still super tasty (4/5). - The second time I went I got the Pork Sisig Hot Plate and Chicken Adobo. The pork was good but some parts were very tender which, over time, my jaws started to hurt from chewing (3.5/5). The chicken adobo took a while to come out as well. The flavor was good but I found the chicken to be a bit dry (3/5). Overall, this place is pretty good and the prices are not bad. I would come back to try the halo halo because they ran out of the ube ice cream when I went. The food is a bit greasy but tasty!
This is a new Filipino restaurant in Elmhurst that I've stumbled upon around 4PM on a Saturday. You might know them from the Queens Night Market last year. The restaurant was full of people eating at that time. The restaurant is quite small. I ordered the Sisig Baboy (Pork Sisig). It was tangy and crispy with a lot of onions. It came out hot and sizzling on the hot plate. For dessert, I tried the Halo Halo. I loved the Halo Halo! It was full of various things like jelly, beans, ube, etc and the milk was tasty. The dessert is meant to be shared because it's huge but I ate it on my own. I thought the shaved ice could've been finer. It's great that there's a Filipino option around Elmhurst. I liked how friendly the waitresses were! read more

This was a gem in Elmhurst. It's a nice, homey Filipino spot with great service. At first glance at the menu, there was so many items that I wanted to try... Almost had to roll a dice and go with a blind pick. But I was craving the classic Pork Adobo with Garlic rice. Tagged my food with a Mango Shake which was a nice refreshing drink for a summer night. Food came out quite quick, 15/20 minutes. The pork was tender and juicy, a bit salty but that's what you get with adobo. The garlic rice is a MUST with the pork adobo. It balances the salty flavor from the pork adobo. Overall, nice experience and great to support the mom&pop food spots. read more

Place was pretty small. Maybe seats 40 ppl max. Service was ok but they were very friendly. The tapcilog (beef) and tocilog (pork) portions were pretty small and they only serve breakfast til 2pm. The Dasilog (fish) was surprisingly big. Most Filipino places serve it all day long. The beef rib nilaga only had 1 average size rib and I felt like it could have been cooked longer. The beef was a little tough. It was very flavorful though. For dessert we ordered turon with mango ice cream. Parking was surprisingly good for Queens Blvd. Everything was just ok. Would I go there again? Yes, but only if I'm close and short on time. read more

Lahi was such a cozy spot and the food was great and not pricey. We loved the sizzling sisig (large portion and pretty crispy) and the halo halo was a huge dessert! The garlic rice was a nice bonus and service was quick and very attentive as well. There is a decent amount of parking around the area if you're driving. I live several neighborhoods away but would definitely come here again. read more

A Korean friend told me about this place and he was raving about what i thougt was bulalo. So we went only to find out it was nilagang tadyang he was referring to. Served in an aluminum pot, it was rich and flavorful with string beans, cabbage, and whole pepper. The chicken sisig was traditional, as i remember it back home, except that the onions could be cut finer. The adobo was also satisfactory with the right mixture of vinegar and soy sauce, pepper and bay leaves. Servings were quite right, and the price, for the quality and quantity was reasonably enough to give it a second try. Servers were pleasant and friendly. The place is brightly lit and clean. The biggest downside which can be its downfall is the inaccessible location - far from subway. Not the best, but better than most Filipino restaurant. read more

We were on a long layover at JFK and was craving for Filipino food thus grabbed an Uber to Lahi based on Yelp recommendations. It's a Mom & Pop operation with small seating. For Midwest Pinoys this was a perfect fix to our craving for homecooked Filipino food. The place is clean, the staff are nice and helpful and the food was good and authentic. read more

Whenever we try a new Filipino restaurant, we try our usual faves: kare-kare, grilled pork belly, pork bbq, sisig, shanghai (and lechon kawali and bicol express but not today). Also fried milkfish, which tastes the same in most places anway. I like their food presentation. Kare-kare was in a clay pot..nice..sauce is not as peanut-y as we are used to but still good. The sisig came on a hot plate and although tasty, needed "heat". I hope they have the option of making it spicy. Grilled pork belly pieces were not too fatty. Shanghai was just ok and didn't like the pork bbq sauce. Dishes come with white rice and there is an option to change it to garlic rice for $1. In comparison to Roosevelt ave area, smaller portions for some dishes; also Prices are higher for some menu items and lower for others, so it balances out. I would still come back, esp to try other dishes and their dessert. They also have a frequent customer reward card. Service is great read more

Yesterday I went to Maharlika to try authentic Filipino food, and I had some really good lumpia. When I came across this vendor I really wanted to eat lumpia again, so I decided why not! Line was not long, which was great. I gave it a three stars because I didn't try anything else but their lumpia and didn't wanna give a bad review based on one dish. From looking at their food menu, they had a variety of authentic Filipino dishes that I'm familiar with such as the infamous duck egg and sisig. For $5 you get 6 lumpia. I'm not sure what type of meat they used but it wasn't really pleasing my taste buds compared to the lumpias I ate here last year. I don't remember what vendor I had lumpia from last year but I remember really enjoying it. The sauce they paired it with didn't really help the lumpia to taste better this time. I ate two and just threw it out. Maybe someone else will have a better experience than I did. Don't think i will come back to this vendor again. read more

We've been waiting for this restaurant to open for ages! We loved the food at Queens Night Market and when we finally made it out to the restaurant, the full menu exceeded expectations. Sisig tacos are a must-try (and a given any time we go to the restaurant). The adobo pork is fantastic as well. I think it would be hard to go wrong with anything on this menu that has a sauce or a marinade, to be honest. The staff is also super friendly and nice. read more

The halo-halo is decent. I can order that again. Unfortunately, the other dishes need improvement. The pork they use for lomi, pinakbet, and even on their pancit tasted like repurposed pork from left-over sinigang na baboy. If I really need to buy a restaurant-cooked Filipino dish, it would be safe to order the fried daing na bangus. Please stay away from sautéed dishes where they may use recycled cuts of pork. read more

We ordered the sisig tacos, sisilog, and a beef stew dish that I don't remember the name of. The tacos did not disappoint as they were definitely the star of the show! Flavor was on point and the shell was crunchy. Sisilog was also delicious. I'd skip the beef stew next time though because the meat was very tough. read more

This place was really good! The restaurant is kind of small. There's maybe 12 tables so if you come during a crowded time you would probs have to wait outside. I got the sisig tacos with chicken and it had so much flav. I also got the lechon kawali and it tasted like the chinese version of roast pork belly except the lechon kawali was soo much crispier. My fav dish was the pork sisilog!!! Get it during brunch bc it comes with garlic rice and that rice was phenomenal. However, the one downside is that the food is a little greasy but overall I would recommend this place. read more

Came here to see if the reviews were justifiable. Its true, you'll never know until you try. Came out...we Loved the food, service and price. Food came in warm mini skillet. Portions were ok - not too much and it came with rice. We had Halo-Halo for dessert--Yum. We're going back again. Thank You For Fast And Friendly Service read more
I love that this Philippino restaurant has opened in my hood! Authentic food and hospitable service, this tiny place packs out on weekends but is relatively open on weekdays/nights. Gotta love a place that will add bitter melon to the mixed veggies dush - a bold move for a gourd that invites strong feelings. The classics are on point (not pictured: crispy pata was so crispy, salty, skinned, chewy gelatinous ligaments good) and I see what you did there with the fusion sisig tacos (pork better than chicken imho). Keep it coming, Lahi! read more

I LOVE THE FOOD. Everything was so flavorful and on point. Must try sisig na bangus/pork and sisig tacos. I was blown away. i also appreciated the food presentation, and the owner was so gracious. We were curious about this new little corner spot when we noticed a full house of customers through the window. So glad we stopped by~ it's only been a week since their opening, but I know for sure this place is going to blossom. I'm already craving for more~ read more

The food is nothing out of the ordinary, but it was well cooked and the dishes were appropriately sized and priced. My cousin ordered the dinuguan and I ordered the inihaw ng bangus (pictured). Both were delicious. We did not have to wait too long for our food and the waitress was super friendly! Will go back again when I'm craving Filipino food! read more

My very first spot when I visited Queens. Street parking was crazy so go early. Got my order to go since I had other places to cover. Servers were nice. The wait wasn't bad at all for made-to-order food. Menu was extensive. Ordered the Crispy Dinuguan & the Lechon Kawali. The Crispy Dinuguan was in so many ways EXCELLENT! Creamy, spicy, unctuous goodness! Wonderful mouth feel and I appreciate that the pork belly was not full of fat. The Lechon Kawali, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. It was, quite simply, a slice of fried pork belly. The skin was not bubbly and crackled. The meat was not a tiny bit crunchy. It was a disappointment. The atsara was yummy and a perfect compliment to the lechon. The rice, in the other hand, was gummy and wet. I prefer my rice not so overcooked. The sarsa was super peppery and not my favorite. The prices were above average but it is NY. Place was nicely decorated and clean and didn't reek of patis as most Filipino places do. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd go back! read more

The crispy pata is delicious, it is so crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It needs the side sauce (soy sauce and vinegar) to enhance the flavor. The lumpia was ok, the flavor of the meat was standard. As for the milkfish, standard as well. Overall this place is pretty decent for food and service. read more

I visited Lahi two weeks after opening. I was super excited to find out that one of my fav vendors at Queens Night Market now had a storefront. You could tell that it is also a lot of other people's fav because the place was packed when I got there. Luckily I was seated after a short 10 minute wait. Know before you go: They are new to the business and are experiencing growing pains. Be patient with them and you will be rewarded with great food. The Food: Chicken Sisig Taco - 5/5 First timers should be required to order this. You honestly cannot go wrong. (I've had the pork ones before and those are equally as good) BBQ Pork Skewers - 5/5 - The flavor is incredible and the pork is so tender Tilapia Escabeche - 4/5 -The dish was prepared wonderfully but was a bit thrown off by the sweetness of the dish Turon - 3.5/5 - The bananas and dish overall lacked the sweetness I desire in a dessert. Could have used a caramel dipping sauce to punch up the sweetness. read more

Food was ok. We ordered fried calamari, lechon kawali, and sisig baboy. Calamari was great not over cooked with great season to it. Lechon kawali was average. Simple slice of deep fried pork belly. I was more disappointed with sisig baboy. Tasted more like cut up pork belly put in sizzling plate with a lot of red onions. No liver no egg. Just pork with onions and lemon. I've had better sisig. Overall avarage spot to eat in. read more

Came here for lunch on a Friday and wasn't disappointed. The place is small but seats around 30 people. I got the tocilog while my friend got the tapsilog. The combination of the garlic fried rice, egg, pickled vegetables and finally the sweet and fatty pork left me in a happy coma. I definitely see myself coming back here again in the near future. read more
