So I don't like to write bad reviews, but a couple of weeks ago I decided to try this place out by myself. I didn't have a reservation & was seated outside with a lovely view. I ordered a drink, an app, and my meal. I received the drink and app very quickly. Food was good. After about 45 mins after this, I asked about the status of my food & was told they were checking. No real updates. Now, close to 2 hours into the meal, I still had no dinner & was starting to become very hungry. I asked the waiter again to check on the food, and he came back and told me that the kitchen lost my ticket & was now closed/unable to make my food. I left hungry. Pretty wild. read more

We started with a bottle of house Pinot Grigio (I forgot the name) and a charcuterie board. Next we had the pesto pizza and we also had lasagna but forgot to take a picture of it. The one point that took a star for me was the rushed servers. I understand that this place is busy! But the server didn't give us time to enjoy the wine and charcuterie board which is a fairly nice size before she came back three times to ask for our main course. Then in the middle of us eating the lasagna and pizza she came back to ask if we need boxes but we clearly were eating it. We ask for an additional glass of the same wine we had a bottle of for her to tell us they don't have Pinot Grigio by the glass. Now I understand some of the more expensive wines don't do by the glass. But you are telling me you don't have a house Pinot Grigio?! So I ask could I instead get a Hendricks and tonic. She stated that they also don't have Hendricks. OK! Two minutes later she came back with boxes and boxed our food anyway even though we didn't ask her to nor were we finished. read more

"The restaurant was subpar overall. I ordered the Cali burrito, which was really good. However, the spicy pineapple mojito was overwhelmingly spicy--I couldn't finish it and ended up passing it to a friend. It did say spicy however so that was my fault for ordering a spicy drink. Enjoyed my first time visit to La Terrazza. The ambiance was amazing, with stunning views of the Raleigh skyline. Food was good. Nothing to write home about. I had the Caesar Salad and Amatrice. The Margherita Rossa was not very impressive for $14.00. The service left a lot to be desired. It feels like they are still training folks. Eh, definitely won't be back nor would I recommend. Our night started off on a bad note when we arrived right at our reservation time, and were told there were no tables for us. Not sure what the point of having reservations is if you make one and still can't be accommodated. We ended up waiting 20 minutes to be seated which was extremely annoying as we had made this reservation weeks in advance. we ordered the bolognese and ravioli, both of which were extremely underwhelming. The ravioli had very little flavor, and the bolognese to pasta ratio was way off for us. Our favorite part of the meal was the bread, which we paid extra for (what Italian place doesn't offer a bread starter complimentary?) The views are fantastic, but if you are looking for anything more than views and a drink, go elsewhere. Downtown Raleigh has too many good Italian places for us to return here for subpar food and service. read more

My family went to La Terrazza on a Sunday night to see the sights of downtown Raleigh and to celebrate my daughter's and her fiance's first trip here. Sadly, we were seated towards the middle of the main room so we didn't get to see as much as we hoped. The main dining room was exceptionally noisy and our server was so soft spoken we often could not hear what he was saying so the person closest to him had to repeat it for the rest of the table. The restaurant was very busy and while the food came out in a reasonable timeframe we felt that our drink orders did not. We were going to order more wine but decided we'd be done with dinner before we received it. My wife and I had the Duck Confit, Pork Belly, Cauliflower Al Forno and a Salmon starter that were okay and we had no complaints about them. My daughter had a pasta dish that had a pesto and pistachios sauce. Couldn't taste the pistachio and while our family loves al dente pasta this was a bit too firm. Her fiancé ordered the ravioli dish which tasted good but was a fairly small proportion for a $28 main dish. It is in the heart of the warehouse district so the location is kind of nice. The views, if you are lucky enough to be near a window, are good. All-in-all we were a little disappointed with the food and the service and not sure we will go back. read more

Four of us visited for what was supposed to be a nice last dinner before my girlfriend's parents went back home up north and ended up being a mediocre and disappointing experience. Girlfriend's mom had the only decent meal, the lasagna. It wasn't amazing but it also wasn't sub par unlike the tagliatelle (gf and gf dad ordered) with meat reminiscent of Chef Boyardee or Spaghetti-Os. I ordered the "amatrice" (as spelt and listed on the menu) which tasted like jarred Prego with overly cooked pasta that was supposed to be spaghettone but was more like bucatini. Just because it says the pasta is made in house doesn't mean it's good. Give me Barilla and Raos over this any day. We ordered the Greek salad which was poorly dressed with huge and sparse chunks of feta. The composition wasn't very well executed. Apparently Michelin is coming to NC, I'm pretty sure this won't be a contender. Besides the mid food, the service and other facets about this restaurant were extremely underwhelming. From the cheap flimsy menus (my girlfriend's resume has more paper weight than these) with oddly out of place market prices for things like chicken to the dim lighting, this place could improve so much. The waiter who also seemed to be a bartender was not readily available, wasn't very well spoken, and did the bare minimum. We ordered antipasti and the main issue with the tagliere was the fact that there was rind on the entirety of some of the bottom pieces of the cheese instead of just on the edges which it can be presented with sometimes. This was extremely disappointing for a restaurant that has the audacity to list market price for chicken on the menu. When the waiter/bartender asked how our antipasti dish was, we communicated the disappointment in regard to this. We weren't asking for a discount or free meal but read the room dude! Why bother asking how something is when the feedback is critical and nothing is acknowledged in return other than the fact that ohhh the back of house serves it like that sometimes. Is it really that much of a financial loss for the establishment to offer additional cheese to offset something that should have never been served? Did he expect us to ask for it directly instead of just doing right by the customer? Whatever. We moved on from the fiasco which was the appetizer and decided to take a picture with the city skyline before it got too dark since honestly this might be the only reason for someone to come here. We let the waiter/bartender know that we were going to take photos so they didn't think we were all just leaving even though we probably should have just headed to Olive Garden at that point. My gf's mom also asked the waiter/bartender if he could refill the waters since mine remained empty for nearly half a hour. When we returned we found three of the entrees present and the Greek salad my girlfriend and I intended on sharing at the table. I thought well they are probably bringing out the amatrice dish I ordered out shortly. It didn't come and I realized the waiter must have mistakenly thought when I ordered the salad after I ordered the entree that I intended on replacing the entree with the salad order somehow. But that didn't add up since he asked if I wanted the salad to come out before the entree. So now everyone else has their entrees and I have the salad that I was also supposed to have in addition to my entree. The waiter was at the bar so we actually relayed this info to the first server we saw nearby and our waiter later came to apologize and let us know my entree would be expedited. He offered to give us complimentary desserts but after we all ate our entrees we decided that dessert wasn't in the cards because honestly it probably would have also been a waste of calories. For a dinner that cost $200+, we all had higher expectations. I believe they comped a minuscule amount off the bill but nothing significant or reflective of the poor experience. I'm honestly glad my girlfriend's dad footed the bill because I get depressed when I have to spend money on mediocre food. Not to mention the terrible feeling of being full from food that just isn't up to par. We tried a new place and had reasonable expectations but sometimes you get let down. In today's society and economy where restaurants are closing left and right and people are eating out less, you really need to have value or something worth visiting for whether it's an amazing culinary masterpiece or average food with amazing service and a place that makes you feel welcomed. This place has nothing other than a rooftop view and feels like one of many restaurants that are soul less and just a part of another corporate restaurant chain. The hostess who initially seated us told us that La Terrazza recently celebrated their one year anniversary last month. Congrats but honestly, I don't foresee many more anniversaries for this establishment. read more

La Terrazza has a great view of the Raleigh skyline. If you're looking for great food, wine, and atmosphere, this is not the place. Wine selection is limited, and the Moroccan music does not fit the venue. I ordered a glass of pinot noir and I was offered a cabernet - very different wines. I inquired about the music and was told that the owner is from Moracco, and he likes the music. When leaving the restaurant, many of the patrons spoke about the disconnect between the music and venue. There just isn't a reason for me to return So sorry. read more

It was as a Sunday night in late September when I brought out-of-town family here who wanted to celebrate my recent birthday. I found the whole experience somewhat disappointing. Aside from the location, which is spectacular, and the ambiance, which was good, no one was at the desk when we were checking in for our reservation. It took a few minutes before they showed up and took us to our table. Views are spectacular. We ordered the Pulpo to start and it came looking very different than the advertising. (Order multiple starters if you intend to share.) It was cooked sufficiently, but nothing special. Neither were the entrees. They were out of the one fish dish; one of my companions ordered the lamb, which was gristly and the portion of risotto my other companion ordered was chintzy for such a price! All portions seemed ridiculously small for the prices, and nothing special. I ended up ordering the calamari starter for my dinner as I have a milk allergy and didn't want creamy based pastas. I have had better calamari elsewhere and at a lower price. Drinks were okay. My margarita was very good but we waited a long time for them. I will give the creme brulee a thumbs up, but the flan was a miss. I will agree with a previous reviewer that the menu is limited and somewhat odd. Who orders pizza at such a place? Wait staff was adequate, but long dry spells between visits. One staffer mentioned there had been a lot of turnover! I believe it. I also wondered whether the usual chef had either departed or was off that night (it was a Sunday night). The advertising and the view are the only things going for this place. I heard about LA Terrazza and we put in reservations weeks in advance. My lady and I heard about the scenic rooftop terrace and the video reviews online were very well done. The restaurant itself called 2 times leading up to our visit to check that we would indeed honor our reservation. Anticipating a slight wait, we arrived 10 minutes early only to find our table was not ready. We went to the outside terrace and got drinks from the open air bar. The drinks were good and the view of the Raleigh restaurant/warehouse district, the train station and the skyline made for an esthetically pleasing evening. However, after 40 minutes, our table for 2 was still not available. We were finally seated about 45 minutes after the reservation. No worries, first we noticed they had a charge for "bread service", not something common in this area but no big deal. We ordered the bread. I found it to be good, but my lady thought it to be charred a bit much for her liking. All in all, nothing special about this "bread service". She had the tagliatelle classico. The noodles were good but seemed to lack any cheese at all and had very little meat. I had 2 antipata, including the pork belly and the octopus. The pork belly was pretty good. The octopus was a bit bland and chewy served with potatoes and a well cooked onion. Not bad. In total I give the atmosphere a 9 the service a 6 because of the apparent poor planning for those who have reservations, and the food a 6. The food was not what I expected. The Italian classico with minimal cheese and meat was a bit of a let down and why I may not go if I am looking for a fine experience with cuisine. There may be other dishes on the menu that may have been better choices. For ambience and a date night at an aesthetically pleasing venue, this may be a good choice, however. We decided to dine in the beautifully decorated interior complete with comfy Italian chairs and authentic ambiance. After being seated the service began pretty awesome with our first server explaining the menu in details but then she vanished for almost 20mins..had to call out for service at the bar and our second server told us they are just 2 people handling the bar and the tables outside. Food is pretty much bland and tasteless (although they explain it like you are gonno get blown away). Cocktails were decent. As mentioned in other reviews this place is good for grabbing a round of drinks..check out the view and get going. Raleigh has got a lot of other places which serve tasty and authentic Italian food. The food was very mid and expensive for what it was. $25 for a pizza that was very bland in taste and something so simple was very disappointing... Honestly a $6 pizza from Dominos is way better than this. My wife also was not impressed with her pasta. Service was terrible. Waited 15 minutes after being seated which was a cluster in itself. Was brought the wrong drink 2 times waiting 5-10 minutes in between, and the server "offered" to remove it from the bill... I understand mistakes can happen, but it obviously wasn't the servers priority to fix the mistake promptly. Last night was my wife's birthday and she want to try La Terrazza. I made reservation for 7:30 and we arrived on time. We received a less than enthusiastic greeting and told they were short handed and we had to wait. This should have been my first clue. We were seated outside on their beautiful terrace which is the only saving grace of the evening. The waiter, while very nice, did not come to our table for 15 minutes after we set down, clue two. He explained the menu and we had to drag out information as to the specials. We order drinks and the Tagliere and the butcher's cut, a 32 oz bone in rib to split and waited. The Tagliere arrived quickly, but the drinks took 15 minute or more. If my wife's drink had acholic in it, I would have been surprised. Clue three. We did not receive the steak until 9:20, an hour and half after we order it. The waiter had no explanation as to the cause. Now to review the steak, it was a little fatty as to be expected. The seasoning had a bad after taste. The side dishes were asparagus which was past its prime with no flavor, the cream of spinach had so much salt that we took one bite and stopped, the only saving grace was the potatoes. It is now about 9:40 and the staff wanted to go home. We were offered no concessions for our wait or for my wife's birthday, which I had placed on the reservations and told the waiter. I guess the staff was really ready to go home. This was our first and last visit at this establishment. The only reason it gets two stars is for the view. I expect better from a place that holds itself to be an upscale restaurant. read more

I went to La Terrazza and the service, food, and ambiance were horrendous. I found roaches on the ground while eating my underdone pasta and overcooked meat. The salad I ordered, the lettuce wasn't even cut, and they didn't bring out plates for my boyfriend and me to split. When we ordered the $8 bread, also since when did Italian restaurants start charging for bread as an appetizer, we also were not given any plates, or cutlery, and had to wait 10 minutes for someone to provide us with the time of day to bring a plate over. Well, where do I start? I'm going to go ahead and give it a one star because the uninformed server was sweet; not her fault she wasn't given any training. This is obviously a 3 star restaurant trying to be a 5 star. The chef, Samad Hachby; It's ok to not like vegans coming to your restaurant and not cater to them. This is my lifestyle; not theirs. But when you project yourself as the city's latest gift to the public and the food Gods, then you should be somewhat accommodating to all guests. You don't even have to offer options but to completely say there is nothing you can do is a complete cop-out lie. I was told by server there were no vegan options. I mentioned a few items and asked if cheese could be removed or at least not added. She said she would have to check with chef. Next came the "manager" who was not dressed like an elegant dining experience manager and was even less informed than the original server. When asked if bread service could not have butter or a cauliflower dish not have cheese on the top I was told that it's already all made up ahead of time and cannot be removed. I know I don't understand either. They have several pasta dishes with egg free pasta and they have dishes that come drizzled with olive oil. I asked if I could have a pasta plate with olive oil. She said she would ask the chef.....I did finally get a plate of cold hard sticky spaghetti with a tsp of olive oil in the bottom of the bowl. I would have felt better had the chef just come out yelling for the stupid vegan to get out of his restaurant. Dinner for two where one didn't eat: $100. Couldn't even remove the bread service from the tab that was untouched and they knew had butter but didn't bother to tell me until it was delivered. Came here for my 22nd birthday. At the beginning service was good but then after we got our food our server Diane was no where to be found. We ran out of water fast and she didn't come around so we had to ask another server for water. The food was Mid, you can honestly get better tasting food anywhere else. The drinks were very strong, and the portions for the price were insane. But going back to my birthday. I thought they'd bring out some sparklers or something to celebrate my birthday because when you make the reservation it asks if you are going there for a special occasion so I pressed Birthday and I thought they were gonna have something special but no. I had to buy a dessert from there and improvise using the light from the table as my candle. I really wish I went somewhere else to celebrate because they did not make a pleasant birthday experience.
